Based on the articles (previous and current) I read at Katfish's and the comments, I think Stacey is a sociopath like Casey Anthony.

Ms Cromer asked where he first had contact with SB - he said it was at the Sylmar site. SB was seated in the back of an unmarked car, with the window down. Asked what he did, he said he introduced himself and told her he was sorry for her loss. Ms Cromer asked what SB said to him, what she did - he said she didn't respond, at all. There was no reaction, she just sat there looking out the window, she seemed unconcerned. As we have noted, just like in court!.

No reaction! Just sat there looking out the window. It appears Stacey has ice water running through her veins. What a heartless, unsympathetic baby killer. No remorse!

Too bad she can not get the death penalty!

Monday's court proceedings didn't get underway until 2 PM and was over by 4:00. The CSI specialist who staged the reenactment with Det Sandra Nava testified that there is no way Emma's death happened while SB was driving anywhere! (We knew that - thanks for the conformation!) She could not reach Emma in her car seat from the front seat, even with the front seat reclined.

The CSI testified that SB held one hand on the back of Emma's head and one over her mouth and nose exerting 4 to 6 PSI of pressure to smother her precious child, leaving the fabric imprint from Emma's blinky on her little face...

There were some interesting developments outside of the courtroom today - I'll get back to you on it as soon as I hear more!

Today was a good day for Emma - not so great for the defense!

The State called Homicide Det's Mc Carthy and Nava. They are both excellent witnesses.

The tape of SB's first LE interview:

She goes on and on about what happened to her, lots of emotion! No mention of Emma. The detectives tell her there are 100 officers and searchers looking for Emma - this leads to a discussion on the possibility that Emma could be out there alone - cold and scared. SB said 'yeah she might be scared and cold, I need my baby...' then back to herself!

Next up the video of SB's second interview:

SB had on a sad face as the detectives beg her to tell them the truth about what happened to Emma. They talked about accidents that could've happened and no one would look at her as being a bad person for an accident. Please help us bring Emma home; you want her, your mom wants her and we want her home. SB continues to say she doesn't know where she is and she didn't do anything to Emma. She SWEARS!

The detectives left her alone for 5 to 7 minutes and a whole different persona came out. She looked bored, tired and annoyed. She picked at her forehead (pimple), ran her fingers through her hair, picked her nose several times, drank water and back to her hair, this time she looked for split ends.

No crying, no tears, she thought she was fooling the detectives, apparently she thought they were idiots.

When the detectives returned, SB put the sad face on as soon as the door opened - they spoke to her for 15 minutes then left again - the same thing happened when the detectives were out of the room. It looked like she was not one bit interested in being there, she looked irritated, she never said "Just hurry up and find my child" - nothing about Emma until asked and so arrogant...

Dager objected to the length of time the video showed SB sitting there alone - overruled!

Today was the first time Judge Z saw these videos; at the end of the second interview he sent the jury on a break. Once they were out of the room he said; "I want it on the record why I overruled Mr Dager's objection for excessive content. It goes to show her demeaner, she seems to be aloof and busy checking out her split ends, she does this for the whole 5 to 7 minutes."

The jury got a good look at how heartless she really is - I hope the impression sticks. We talked about these tapes when they were brought up at the pre-lim; they are worse than we thought. What an actress she thought she was, but I don't think she fooled anyone except her father and his family.

More of interview two:

When the detectives came back into the room SB told them it was an accident that happened in Long Beach. Emma took the baggie and choked on it, SB said when she looked back Emma was not breathing - she pulled over and checked her and said Emma was not breathing and she had no heartbeat. So she started back to the AV - stopping in Sylmar to drop her off in the lot. No emotion while telling this story...

Tomorrow is the other half of the video. The State could wrap up their case as soon as Thursday - depending on how much time the rest of the witnesses take. They have not mentioned Witness X - I'm assuming because of his gang affiliations and the fact that he had been marked by his former gang, that they are not advertising his presence ahead of time.

Judge Z said his court may be dark on Friday, he will let us know.

What a heartless, cold hearted person Stacey seems to be! It is disgusting what she was doing when the detectives left the room. I am so glad to hear the jury got to see this video.

Thank goodness their ploy worked and she told them where Emma could be found. It is fortunate that the Medical Examiner was able to do an autopsy. LCoast Mom, I know you did not discuss this in your most recent update but it is info I know as a result of reading older articles and comments by you all at Katfish's.

What do you mean by Judge Z said his trial may be dark on Friday?

Hi LCoastMom! Yes, she has ice water running through her veins. She deserves everything coming to her. It's heartbreaking to hear how Emma died. How a mother could continue to smother her child until she stopped breathing is horrific to think about. You have to be one cold heartless bitch to hold your hand over your baby's face.

SB's story is a changing - Det Nava asked SB to tell her what really happened. SB claimed while she was driving (down the FWY in evening rush hour traffic!) she was playing Peek a Boo with the blanket throwing it over Emma's head, she didn't know Emma had a baggie in her mouth - after she did not hear anything from Emma for a few minutes she looked back, took the blanket off and knew Emma was dead - then she panicked.

Det Nava keeps at her, telling her things like Stacey, you say you would run to Emma if she fell, skinned her knee, bumped her head or any time she got hurt, then why didn't you call 911, pull the baggie out of her mouth or pull over when you noticed that she was slumped over and had a baggie hanging out of her mouth? You just drove another 45 minutes while she was not breathing? Help me understand that... SB said she was scared and did not know what to do at that point...

Det Nava presses on with why would a baby take an empty baggie from a purse and put it in her mouth? It was not a coin, a rock or anything she would think was a candy or food so why would she put the baggie in her mouth? Or did you put the baggie in her mouth?

SB replied No! I didn't! I wouldn't hurt my baby, she saved my life. I was in a downward spiral before I got pregnant with her, she saved me....

SB is trying to make it work and it's just not....

Next change - SB said she pulled over and took the baggie out of Emma's mouth and checked her heart and breathing, Emma had no signs of life, so she started back to the AV, pulled off at the Denny's off ramp in Sylmar. She placed Emma in the lot, kissed her on the forehead and left.

Then she said that she was playing peek-a-boo with the baggie. Pressing it on Emma's face and taking it away!?!

Next, she said she was playing peek-a-boo with the blanket and she didn't know Emma had the baggie, she must have put it in her mouth and SB didn't know it was there. SB said she put her hands lightly over Emma's nose and mouth, while the blanket is on her face and only holds her hand there for like 2 to 3 minutes, with no pressure! SB is doing all this from the front seat while she is driving!

SB said that Emma was trying to take her hands off her face and grabbing at her hands forcefully, scratching her, but SB thought Emma was playing rough with her, she has played rough with her before. When she took the blanket off she knew she was dead.....

Det Nava told her, "Stacey that is only 80% of the story. You are heading to 100% and that is what we want, the truth - not 50%, not 80%, not 90%, we want the truth. You seem to almost get there, then you go back to 80%, but now you are heading towards 40% - please just tell us what happened, if it was a mistake and you did it, tell us but tell us the truth of how it happened and get it off your chest, people make mistakes.

The tape ends, some of what SB is saying is true - but like Det Nava, we know it is not the whole truth....

Thursday - on the stand BB's manager from Texas Cattle Co and the Park n Ride security officer.

BB tried to come into the Courtroom Wednesday - Judge Z saw him sitting there and pointed towards the door, BB left.

Stacey is a liar. It sounds like the Detective who was questioning her is really good at his job. I know there was more than one detective questioning her.

Did she finally confess to Det. Nava or another detective?

Did she really think the Detectives were going to believe that she was driving down the freeway in rush hour traffic and she was playing peek-a-boo with Emma's blanket! How stupid can Stacey be!

There is no way Stacey could reach the back seat with at least one hand on the steering wheel.

Do you know when the State will rest their case and when the Defense will put on their case of lies?

IOW it was an accident. You're right she is a liar. During the pre-lim the DA came into the courtroom - he couldn't believe she pled innocent. He came right out and said; "It's not like she admitted to doing it or anything...."

Det (Sandra) Nava had her eyes tear up during the pre-lim and another day when she testified. She is another young mom who had a toddler at home while she was interviewing SB. So many people have been touched by this heinous crime and want justice for precious Emma.

The State will finish up on Monday. The defense is expected to last two days, although with PD Dager it could be longer... They have several witnesses who are all going to testify that SB was a caring, loving mom (for 18 whole months). I don't buy it. She may have acted the part in public for awhile but she stopped being a loving, caring mom when she decided some stupid boy (any one of them) was more important to her than her baby.

The day I went to the AV for the first time Tori, Ange, TD and I spent hours talking - one of the things that came up was SB's BFF who used to run from board to board (she actually followed us) singing SB's praises, criticizing anyone who said a bad word about her... That day I said if get behind the wheel after drinking, I am making a choice (just like SB did). I could say I've been driving for 35 years without a ticket or an accident, but the day I drive into a tree after drinking a 12 pack - all those years are erased. Doesn't mean I was ever a good driver, just a lucky one. Just because Emma lived for 18 months, does not mean SB was a good mother.

Stacey reminds me of Casey Anthony! As this case unfolded, I remember seeing a pic of Stacey and something about her demeanor reminded me of Casey. She kind of favors her if you look at her for a split second.

As far as I know she is, last we heard from her she said we were all "something else and not in a good way" and still insists it was an accident. She is a witness for the defense and will be testifying this week.

She admitted to us long ago, that SB was not always a good friend when she needed her to be - they had a fight at some point prior to Emma's death and had to be separated at work - a coworker insists there was a Protection Order involved but AB denied it.

Witness X is now called John Doe so he doesn't sound like a super hero LOL. He was in Judge Zackey's Courtroom last year and was placed on the witness list - at that time they used his given name so we sleuthed him. He is a convicted felon with a lengthly history that included local gang ties - he's out of the gang now and testified against them (from what I understand). He is a musician who played in a LA band, he's kind of a goth/rock - heavy metal looking guy with many tattoos - including a demonic looking face tattooed onto the back of his shaved head, he went by the nickname Vampire. In 2008 he was back in jail on assault (and robbery?) charges. Shortly after we blogged about him some folks who claimed to be SB's 'Auntie' and 'Uncle' added their feelings that we were not good people for giving a convicted sex offender the benefit of the doubt but not SB! They claimed there was much we didn't know about the case against SB... Well, I think they have been proved wrong!

First off, X beat up a convicted sex offender who was offering to give his young daughter private music lessons - he was never accused of being a SO himself. He was facing Life due to CA's 3 Strikes Law. His first trial ended in a 5 - 7 split to acquit so the State offered him a 10 year deal, which he accepted.

X met SB on the bus to court. They were both in protective custody so they are in locked cages during transport. They spoke and originally X thought SB was wrongly accused so he befriended her. In Court X said SB liked to talk about her case and she gave him tons of information! When he realized she actually murdered her baby, he asked to have LE called and he offered to wear a wire and testify against her.

SB apparently never questioned X having the same court dates as she did for 6 or 8 months and chatted him up every time - at some point she admitted to smothering Emma, she supposedly told him Emma was dead before leaving Lancaster and asked his help in making up a story that fit the known facts! SB told him BB "owed her one" and that BB told her she would be ''out there with him right now if she had just stuck to the story''! X said that SB told him she is pizzed at BB because he's out having a good time and she's stuck in jail!

On Friday they also played a tape of SB talking to her parents from jail after she was measured for the crime scene reenactment. She was terrified and kept repeating that she is screwed - she told her parents that she had moved the front driver seat back to look for something. (She had told LE she came to in the passenger seat.)

The PnR Security Officer testified that "The silver Mazda (SB's car) pulled in with no headlights on and a male driver." She saw a cell phone light come on in the car and 10 minutes later a maroon or red car entered the lot* and the guy driving the Mazda (BB) left with that person, in the red/maroon car. 20 minutes later a blue car entered the lot, the male who had driven the Mazda and another man got out of the car, followed by a flurry of LEOs. (The two guys in the blue car were ID'ed as BB and NB.)

*BB drove a maroon car at the time.

We've had a houseful of company all weekend so I will talk to Tori today to get more information on X's testimony.

Hi Ann! You're so right - so much more than meets the eye at first glance! I understand there is an ongoing investigation re BB as an accessory after the fact.

Why would someone do that? It makes no sense to me. Help to cover the murder of a defenseless baby!? Then think they were going to change their names and move away together, move ahead with their lives? The two of them are quite the pair... Sue said she locked her bedroom door when she slept, she was afraid SB was going to come into her room and murder her the same way she did Emma - honestly that would be a huge fear of mine too if someone I knew did something so despicable...

John Doe AKA Witness X

As it turned out what was previously posted was about the extent of J Doe's testimony. Ms Cromer commented on the letters SB wrote to him but they were not read in court.

X did say that SB claimed Emma was dead before leaving Lancaster, I'm still up in the air on this. SB's brother Nick said Emma was on SB's hip when she came into his room to tell him she was taking Emma to the park - she had been crying and carrying on during the fight between SB and her mother but was apparently calmed down by the time SB left the house.

SB claimed to X that the drive to LA took hours in bumper to bumper traffic but her phone pings tell another story - she cruised right out of town, down the 14, to the 5 and was in LA by 6PM - IIRC she left the house at 410ish. Pretty tight time line.

Brendan's boss:

BB's manager testified that the computerized time card had BB clocking his tips in just before 8PM and clocking him out just before 9PM. But no one actually remembers whether or not he worked those hours on 3/18/09.

Det Nava

Yesterday (Monday) Det Nava was the last witness for the state. Most of what she testified was rehash.

Emma's pink blanket came up again. Det. Nava said she she did not tell Sue Barker anything about a pink fiber being found in EB'S throat or lungs, the autopsy had not been done yet!

There is some reason that the blanket cannot be found. It was not in the car as SB said it was. What was the reason she did not leave Emma's favorite binkey with Emma in the bushes - did it have blood on it from the nose bleed SB gave Emma?

Of note, BB claimed he was home watching "Lie To Me" on 3/18 - I'm assuming she meant after he left work. RD asked if she verified the show was even on that night and what episode he watched - she did not. (It was on, the episode was called The Best Policy.)

SB's phone revealed a text from her to BB - At the park with Emma. He replied Have fun, be safe.

They spent time again talking about BB; the times, the calls, the way he knew where to find SB, when she didn't even know where she was for sure, during the 911 call!!

BB said on the stand his cell phone carrier is ATT - what he failed to mention was in 2009 it was Verizon...

The 911 calls

In the 911 call from Nick B, he told the dispatcher his sister had been abducted and someone has her daughter. Nick said he had been told by BB that she is in a PnR somewhere. BB is heard in the background (not real clear what he was saying but something about Fin and Feather). The dispatcher asked him some questions and then they asked for SB'S phone number. They are told do not call her, we are calling her now...

SB's 911 call:

SB: Hello.

Disp: Hello this is 911 we got a call that something has happened.

SB: (crying) I am hurting...

Disp: Where are you?

SB: I don't know, a Park and Ride I think...

Disp: You are at a Park and Ride?

SB: I think so..I am by a lake.

Disp: Do you see the freeway?

SB: Yes..

Disp: Where is Lancaster, to the north or south of you?

SB: Behind me...

Disp: Behind you? OK then you are at the one on Ave S. Someone will be there shortly, can you turn on your lights?

SB: No, I don't have keys.

Disp: Doesn't your emergency flashers work without keys? You need to turn them on so we can find you.

Disp: What happened?

SB: (crying) I am hurting, I have a big bump on my head, someone hit me on the head at the park. (crying) They took my baby.

The sirens can be heard in the background and BB asking her "Are you OK sweetheart?"

SB: I am hurting.

Disp: OK they are there to help you now - the line disconnects.

BB had told Nick she was frantic - could have fooled me... THREE I am hurting to ONE They took my baby!

According to Tori and Ange the crying sounded fake - like she had just woken up. What she was saying sounded rehearsed, she did not sound like a woman who's only child was abducted and was worried about what was happening to her, at the hands of a stranger. She seemed more concerned about her pain and the bump on her head! As usual it was all about HER!!

The State rests.

Gary Barker for the defense

Gary Barker was the first witness for the defense; he praised SB for being a good mom, taking care of herself during her pregnancy, how hard her labor was that resulted in a C Section. How she read books and prepared baby food. He said SB and Emma were both his princesses! They fixed the office into a nursery for Emma - they hung shelves and put princess dolls on them for Emma to look at.

All the while, SB is nodding at what he is saying, she has a smile on her face! Completely different then the looks she had for her mom and brother, when they were on the stand!

RD asks about Sue's drinking; GB said that Sue used to have a couple shots of tequila after work - 2 or 3 times a week with a diet Dr Pepper. Asked if she had a drinking problem all her life GB said, "No, she didn't start drinking heavy until this happened with Emma." So much for RD'S claim that SB grew up with Sue as a controlling alcoholic.

After lunch, Ms Cromer played a home video of SB with Emma on her shoulders. The jury was not in the room yet, SB was not smiling or crying at seeing this video of Emma. It will be interesting to see if SB puts her sad face on when this video is played for the jury. We'll see.

Ms Cromer will cross GB this afternoon.

Next up Larry B (SB's paternal gfather), Amber B (BFF) and Jennifer G (SB's former supervisor at BofA).

Judge Zackey said that the case should be wrapped up by today and he will give the jury their instructions. He told them they can now see the light at the end of the tunnel!

This jury has appeared to be paying attention. They used their notebooks (to double check facts) and have been taking lots of notes. The amount of attention paid to BB is bothering me. On day one Ms Cromer said SB is the only one implicated in the murder of Emma Leigh. I hope all the added talk about BB hasn't confused them - that SB was the last person with Emma and SB admitted she held her hand over Emma's face until she stopped breathing.

Be prepared to be more disgusted - SB turned on the water works when they played the video in front of the jury!

Gary Barker on the stand with the defense said that SB was being harassed at their home. Someone(s) put signs in their yard reading BABY KILLER - people were driving by and screaming things at them. (Including during the party the night before Emma was laid to rest.)

While being questioned by the State, Gary's demeanor was much less forthcoming.

He testified that he never threatened to leave his wife over SB or Emma's death. He claims he loves his wife very much. (Sue was in the courtroom for the first time since she testified and heard this.) He said what happened did not do anything to their marriage - that is not what we heard under oath!

Gary said that they found out Emma was dead over the Internet - they had waited at the Sheriff's Office for SB for hours and they were told to go home, that SB was in an interview. Several hours later the detectives came and told them that SB had led the officers to Emma's body. GB said they were mad because they took SB to Sylmar without him.

Ms Cromer asked; "When the detectives told you Emma was dead and SB led them to the body, were Sue's first words - How did she die and She killed her didn't she?!" He said "Yes, but she was in shock, we were trying to process everything, we couldn't believe it..."

Ms Cromer asked if he was told his LE interview was being recorded he said "No!" She showed him the recorder and asked if it was on the table during his interview and he said he was in too much shock to notice if it was or not.

RD asked him why were you in shock? He answered, "I just found out my daughter died!" This caused a stir in the courtroom as everyone looked at each other - he then added "I mean my grand daughter." RD asked, "Was Emma your princess?" He replied "She was my princess and more."

Ms Cromer asked. "If SB had told you and Sue, Here take her - I don't want her anymore! what would you have said?" GB answered he would have been disappointed in SB, but they would have taken Emma.

Ms Cromer asked about BB coming over at night (after Emma was asleep), GB said he only came over once or twice a week. She replied, "So if he testified on the stand that he came over 4 or 5 times a week, he would have been lying?" Gary said, "Well, no I guess not, I guess I wasn't aware of it..." GB testified he was asleep by 8PM to get up at 3AM, to leave for work. He stated he is home by 3:00 PM, 40% of the time and between 4:00 and 9:00 PM 60% of the time.

Ms Cromer asked him "If you get home at that time, how did you see SB come in from work?" He said "Because I was there.." KC said, "Aaahh, what time does SB get off work?" GB said 4:30 or 5 PM. KC asked, "What if I said it was 2:30 PM when she got off work. Could you have been there to see her?" GB said "I guess not..." (He had testified earlier that he was always at home when SB got home from work.)

Asked about the Beer Pong game, GB said that he had played for about 45 minutes, he had already drank 7 beers before he started playing. He sent BB to get SB from her room to play so she could cheer up. She loosened up after she played a few games...

Three weeks after Emma's death SB moved in with her paternal gfather, when Ms Cromer asked about this Gary said Stacey was lying in bed and Sue attacked her! He had to pull Sue off SB!

Dager played the video of Emma being bounced around on SB's shoulders to the jury - they were playing, Emma was laughing and giggling. Several jurors started crying - so did SB! No response on Monday when it was played, but in front of the jury SB put on her sad face!

RD said he was not able to find two of the witnesses for the defense, Amber B and Jennifer G were not at the courthouse yesterday...

Judge Zackey had been hoping for closing statements and planned on giving the jurors their instructions today.

Wow, an LCM bombshell tonight: Stacey Barker is on the stand. I can hardly wait to get the scoop from you about her testimony.

GB said they were mad because they took SB to Sylmar without him.

Why would he be mad and thinks he needed to go along? Stacey was not a minor child at the time! Is GB for real?

It seems like Cromer caught GB in a few lies!

I can not believe these folks partied before Emma's funeral and played beer pong! WTH is that? I am appalled.

I would have cried too if I saw a video of Emma alive and laughing. So Stacey turned on the water works in front of the jury. What a skank!

I bet Toria and friends would like to slap her a time or two and then some!

Stacey Barker on the stand.

Dager said that he strongly advised her against doing so but she made the choice and she took the stand!

SB put on her good girl face for RD - she was cooperative and even cried at times, a very fake cry. (Ten times in her life, four times in the last 2 weeks!)

SB told the court if a guy didn't accept Emma then he didn't accept her either and he was history. Emma came first and they were a package deal. She claims she is easily manipulated but she cared for her daughter more than anything - yah. She also said that she was quiet and reserved, when she was mad and fighting with her boyfriends she was not loud or violent.

When asked by Dager if she killed her daughter before she left Lancaster, she said "I DID NOT KILL MY DAUGHTER!"

RD went over the same stuff with SB as he did with everyone else - the baby showers, fixing the room for Emma and the other stuff (her grades from HS, who bought things for Emma, who cared for Emma etc).

Asked why she was going to Long Beach SB said that she was afraid her Mom was on the verge of kicking her out again. Her mom didn't like her going out and not being with Emma, but her dad was OK with it... She and her Mom didn't agree on many things. (I believe her dad didn't really have much of a clue about what exactly SB was up to during this time. He thought BB only came over to visit SB once per week!)

On cross Ms Cromer asked SB when her mother had kicked her out before - she admitted she never actually had, she had only threatened.

The State questions Stacey Barker:

Ms Cromer was not as hard on SB as she could have been but the questions that she asked made SB mad at times and her snotty attitude shot out like a bullet! The jury saw a different side of Mizz Barker... the one she tried so hard to hide from them, sitting next to RD and while being questioned by him.

So SB is driving towards LA when Emma got cranky - SB said this was the longest drive Emma had ever taken. SB gave Emma a ZipLock Baggie from her purse and she was playing Peek-A-Boo with her, when she noticed Emma was no longer breathing.

KC: Ms Cromer asked her why she didn't pull off at the nearest exit when she saw Emma was blue and purple? Why she drove another 35 to 40 minutes?

SB: I wasn't thinking.

KC: Why didn't you call 911, or use the call box, or pull to the shoulder and call for help?

SB: I was in shock and didn't know what to do, so she got off at the Cherry exit and drove until she found some place to pull over then got into the back seat of the car to check Emma. She put her hand over Emma's face to see if she had breath, she was blue and purple and cold to the touch, she knew Emma was dead.

KC: So, what did you do then?

SB: I got back into the car. (Interesting answer - she had already claimed she didn't get out of the car.)

KC: What did you do for the 3 1/2 hours that you were by LAX?

SB: I can't recall.

KC: You know nothing about a disposable cell phone?

SB: No, this is the first time I have heard that term...

KC: What is in the area where you threw Emma?

SB: 3 homes... then she said stayed there, saying goodbye to Emma for a little while. (Cell phone pings say she lied - she was gone within a minute.)

KC: Oh, when you put EB in the bushes you said you took her out of the car and cradled her and dumped her in the bush?

SB: In a really smart ass way - I placed her there - PLACED!

KC: How did you cradle Emma when she was stiff, in stage 4 rigor?

SB: (SMART AGAIN) She was not stiff.

KC: So then the evidence lies?

SB: YES!

Ms Cromer just looked at her and SB yelled - Were you there? Were. You. There?! With a really smart aleck look on her face.

That set off some noises from the gallery and a few from the jury!

Judge Zackey said he didn't hear anything but if the jury did to pay no attention to it, that anyone making noises will be asked to leave the court - this is a serious case. He didn't realize it was from the jury also! (A few of them were also shaking their heads!)

Ms Cromer got her to say that BB said that he wished the LE had believed her first story so she would not be in jail...

KC: You kept up the lie you made up till the very end, right?

SB: Yes!

KC: You lied to everyone right?

SB: Yes!

KC: You lied up until the time they confronted you with your cell phone records right?

SB:Yes.

KC: So then you are not easy to manipulate...

Each time RD brought up Anthony (Emma's daddy), the jury was not pleased about it. It seemed to us they are sick of hearing RD trash Anthony. Ms Cromer made it clear that Anthony had to take the Metro to some of SB's doctor appointments and her ultra sounds, because he was having financial trouble and had no car, but he did make it and carries one of the ultrasound pictures in his wallet. She also asked SB if she changed her phone number a month before Emma was due so he could not get ahold of her to see when she was going to the hospital or anything else that was going on with the pregnancy? SB said yes. KC asked why? SB said because she was mad at him! Did she change her phone number a lot to keep Anthony from contacting her when she was mad at him? She replied yes. (Emma was over a month old before Anthony's family was told of the birth!)

Ms Cromer asked if Anthony attended Emma's Baby Shower at her house? SB said, 'No he wanted to, but he didn't'. KC asked why is that? SB said they were fighting and she told him she didn't want him there, to ruin the day! Did you also uninvite his Mother? Yes! Did you also send Christmas gifts that his family sent to Emma back to them? Yes, the first Christmas, but she was allowed to keep the second Christmas' gifts from them. (For 11 whole weeks.)

Kelly asked her how many beers she had on St Patrick's Day and she said One! Why do you say you have a hangover in a text to someone the next day? How do you get a hangover from one beer? SB said I'm a lightweight! KC said, you are 120 pounds and one beer gives you a hangover? SB said she was lighter then, like 110 or 115, so yeah she got a hangover from ONE beer. KC pressed her - so it is your sworn testimony under oath that you got a hangover from that one beer? YES!! The jury didn't buy that one!

Ms Cromer asked what she did at 60th, when she watched the lights or whatever she did for 30 minutes? SB said 'Nothing, just looked at the lights! SB claimed she doesn't remember having sex with BB that night or morning. KC questioned that, "You remember everything else, but you can't remember having sex?" SB said "I don't recall." Funny she went from getting the best New Year's kiss ever, to not remembering having sex in just ten weeks - I guess it wasn't that good...

KC asked what time she got home from her St Patrick's night out and SB said 4 AM. She went home and went to sleep for 2 hours or so and got up and dressed for work. Then she went to BB's house and slept until 1 PM. KC said, "Well, if you slept at home for 2 hrs and you were supposed to be at work at 5:30 AM were you already late for work? She said, close to it. Remember BB said on the stand that she stayed at his house until 4 and he took her to her house to get dressed for work and she went back to his house at 5 AM. Someone is lying!

Ms Cromer wanted to know how many times she texted BB in a day. More than 20? 30 or more? SB said "Several, I don't know. I didn't count." KC asked, "Well could it have been 10 or 20 maybe?" SB said, "I don't know." KC well could it have been 30 or more? She said "I DID NOT KEEP COUNT AND I WILL NOT TELL YOU A SPECIFIC NUMBER!" (There's that attitude again!) Judge Zackey asked; "Well can you say it was more then 20?" SB said "Yeah..yes!"

Jennifer testified that SB removed the photos of Emma from her cubical a week before Emma was murdered.

Larry B - paternal gfather

Mr B testified that he only saw Emma twice in her life, the day she was born and the day after. He stated Sue B has issues with him so they do not do family get togethers. This did not stop someone from calling and asking him if SB could stay at his house (because he had an extra room) 3 weeks after the murder.

Added note: SB said her mother came running through her door and jumped on her while she was asleep. She also stated Sue didn't actually hit her or pull her hair - she simply jumped on her and GB pulled her off.

Statement from the AV Hospital.

Yesterday Ms Cromer mentioned a letter sent to Judge Zackey from the AV Hospital - today the jury hears that Emma was treated there in December 2008 and January 2009 - she had such severe diaper rash and fungal infection that her bottom had open sores.

I can not believe that Stacey testified against her attorney's advice. I am glad she did. The jury had the opportunity to see her in action . . . attitude, lies and all!

I bet RD cringed when Stacey showed her attitude while Cromer questioned her.

Oh yeah, it was another good day for our Emma!

SB basically tried to refute every piece of evidence - I don't think it worked! She claimed her GPA was 3.2 (rather than the 3.0 the transcript showed) I wanted to scream Who cares!? It changes nothing! She snuggled Emma who was in full rigor, so the evidence lies. She didn't have a temper, so Anthony lies. She was not BB's girlfriend. He was more into her than she was to him, so BB lies.

There was quite a bit of that "I do not recall" bug going around too...

Odd that one beer completely erased her memory of what she and BB did on St Patrick's night (and caused a hangover!). She did recall it was only one beer though! Her memory is strange that way.

She testified that Deputy Mario V was just a booty call. She wasn't planning their "forever" - she did run out and take the Sheriff's entrance exam one month after they started dating though!

GB visibly reacted to SB's sexcapades. He did not like hearing she was involved in so much casual sex. I guess he was disappointed, just like he would have been if SB had told him she wanted him to take Emma - yet he supports her after she admitted to smothering her!? Makes no sense to me!

One of the defense witnesses opined (GB?) that the S & R dog may have been responsible for Emma's blinky going missing. The state brought in an officer who was involved in the search for Emma. He explained they use a sterile pad and rub it across whatever they want to scent, so not to tamper with evidence. In this case he rubbed the driver's seat in SB's car! The dog went from the car, to the fence (SB's belongings were dumped there), then the dog headed out of the PnR to Ave S! Smart move on SB's part to have BB leave her at the PnR to go pick up her brother! They were aware the driver had left in a car! Since they were looking for a missing baby - they didn't attempt to follow "the driver" down the highway, but took the dog to Lancaster Park where SB claimed to be attacked. The officer said the dog did react at the park - Emma had been there, but the scent was at least a week old. I wonder if the dog followed the driver's scent into the dugout where BB had sat during his last ball game, the week prior!?

BB, who was allowed back into the courtroom yesterday appeared to be nervous. He was there with his mom and gmother again.

After the S & R dog handler, the court heard a tape of Detectives Nava and McCarthy with the Barkers at their home - they were trying to answer the Barker's questions regarding Emma's death. GB said that Nava and McCarthy were cold and accusatory to them. According to Tori and Ange they sounded concerned and helpful. Det Nava will be recalled by the State this morning re this tape then the closing statements will begin. The jury should have this case by sometime this afternoon!

Oh, Ann - yes it appeared that Dager had a talk with SB about her temper during a break. She sucked it up for a few questions but she could not maintain and went right back to giving Ms Cromer her big ol' attitude...

Thanks for getting Emma's story out there Ann - I cannot believe not one news source has reported this trial.

Both sides rested and jury was given instructions.

In the jury instructions - Count 1 options are - Murder - 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Murder and Manslaughter and not guilty. The other counts are Child Abuse and Child Abuse Causing Death of a Child under 8 years of age. The Special Allegation is Great Bodily Injury to a child under the age of 5.

This is the first we've heard 1st Degree Murder!

PD Dager objected to the jury having the letters SB sent to John Doe - as they were not read in court. Ms Cromer said they go to show SB's obsession with the men she hones in on and how she will make herself fit into their lifestyle - she becomes what she thinks they want her to be. Judge Z said he will read them and make a decision.

After reading four of the letters Judge Z said - "Well, she tells him personal things; things about her family, steamy sex stories, she says she can tell him anything. In one letter she told him she wants a son!"

Judge Z said he will let them know tomorrow (Friday) if the letters go back or not.

DDA Kelly Cromer - Closing Argument

Ms Cromer started her closing around 3pm.

She started off by saying - This is not going to be short. I want to show that some people lied on the stand and that Emma was in the care of Stacey Barker when she was killed.

The defense has tried to sling everybody's name and drag them through the mud; like Anthony H, Sue B and Brendon B. He told you that Anthony H did some drugs and couldn't pay as much child support as he wanted to sometimes. He couldn't make it for all of her doctor's appointments - I say SO WHAT, SOOOO WHAT. He loved Emma and this is not about him. It is about Stacey Barker and what she did.

Dager wants to confuse you and take the focus off of Stacey Barker and put it on the others, like she is the victim here, not Emma!

They tried to say Sue was a alcoholic and Stacey Barker grew up with an alcoholic mother that was controlling and took medication - I say, who cares this is not about Sue. It is about Stacey Barker.

I am sure that Sue feels guilt about what happened but it is not her fault, she has lost a granddaughter and if Stacey Barker goes to prison she will lose her daughter, maybe even her husband. They got on the stand and were torn about this and tried to, in a way save their daughter - by not being able to recall important things.

Stacey Barker kept telling lie after lie and the only ones that will ever know the truth of what happened that day is Emma and Stacey Barker, because we sure have not gotten the truth here!

Ms Cromer shows the jury the memory card from SB's camera that was found in her purse. The pictures show Emma between October and December 2008, there are 10 or so pictures - she is such a doll! Then the photos change and the rest are of Stacey Barker, Brendon B and their party friends, NASCAR...a lot of them...

Stacey Barker has changed and Emma is no longer in the picture. Emma had to be taken to the hospital for bad rashes, this proves she was not paying as much attention to Emma as she should have been.

Stacey Barker had always been the center of attention and when she got pregnant her family was disappointed but excited and she was the center of attention once again. There were the baby showers (2), getting gifts, having fun, she got the attention she craved. When Emma was born and all the people stopped in to see her and the new baby, she got the attention. All the photos of her and Emma all dressed up, everyone saying how cute they were - she got attention. But as time goes on this cute baby starts getting big and needs more care and time. You know they are so cute when they are small but when they start to become toddlers they are messy, throw things, get into things they should not, and they are always a little slimy and they need more supervision.

Stacey Barker was tired of being a mother when she met Brendon B. She was also getting tired of her job, she started taking days off just to be with him. She wanted to party and be what Brendon B wanted her to be, to fit into his lifestyle...Emma was a impediment to her.

Ms Cromer said that Brendon B lied on the stand and she caught his lies - like not knowing where Stacey Barker was that night, yet going to Palmdale PnR, when Stacey had texted him earlier that she was at Lancaster City Park. When she asked him on the stand how many PnR's he knew of in the AV, Brendon B said the one by Lancaster City Park and Ave S. Why didn't he try the Lancaster City Park PnR? That would have been the most logical choice... He also said it took him six minutes to calm her down long enough to hear her story, yet he got in his car and started driving and didn't know where he was going, so he goes to Nick B, gets him and they start to Palmdale Ave S PnR.....the cell phone call times do not match his story.....

Stacey Barker had help that night, and that was Brendon B. Donna Varso (PnR guard) saw him.

Brendon's ears were turning red. His mom got up and walked out to the hallway and sat down. He now knows that they think he had something to do with either helping her hide Emma or helping her fabricate the kidnap and rape story. We will see what happens to him soon.

Miss Cromer played the 911 tape for the jury and said "Listen to her, THESE are FAKE tears and a fabricated story - listen good, FAKE TEARS! Once again, with this lie she made up, she is the center of attention again!"

Miss Cromer talks about the suffocation. She does not know if Stacey Barker pinched off Emma's nose and covered her mouth, but the striations and red marks on Emma's cheeks suggest that Stacey Barker did pinch Emma's nose enough to cause her nose to bleed and held the binkey on her face hard enough to cause the lines. Maybe Emma was struggling, throwing her head around to get air and that is why the red on her cheeks is there with the fabric lines inside of it and Stacey Barker just kept holding the binkey there, because she did not want to see Emma's face as she was dying...

Stacey Barker was so careful about her things and neat with her purse, yet she keeps a three day old empty Ziploc bag in it? There was no baggie and Emma could not have suffocated from the binkey. You all heard the medical testimony - suffocation but not from a baggie in the mouth!

Haven't commented here lately, but have been trying to keep up with all the updates.

After talking with Tori late Thursday, I wrongly assumed that Ms Cromer was done with her closing statement - she actually finished up at 4:30 Friday afternoon! PD Dager hasn't even started his closing yet!

It's been a long week for our friends in the AV - so I'll give them an evening to their families and will talk to Tori and Ange over the weekend to get more details on Ms Cromer's statement. I'll give you the short version here.

Ms Cromer walked the jury through 8 hours of evidence Friday, just to keep it all fresh in their minds before deliberating. Now they have all weekend to think about it.

One thing that stood out to Tori on Friday was how many people have been brought to tears by this trial - aside from the usual suspects, four men - two seasoned detectives, a male juror and an older gentleman who has been in court off and on - have cried in Judge Zackey's Courtroom during testimony. On Friday even the Court Reporter was tearful over Ms Cromer's closing statement.

What was Stacey Barker doing during this emotional presentation? Sitting there bored as usual - appearing completely uninterested in the events going on around her. Not a single tear as the jury heard Ms Cromer's devastating comments on Emma's murder and viewing photographs of precious Emma taken at the dump site on the overhead large screen.

The letter's from SB to John Doe:

All the letters started with My Dearest "X". How has my handsome man been? She told him things like she loves his eyes and the second she looked into them she wanted to get lost in them and never be found. She wants to explore every inch of his body and wants him to explore her's - when they are on the outs (she picks up jail slang quick, huh?). She wants to do things to him and she wants to have him do things to her!. She sent him a steamy page out of a trashy romance novel - then she told him she will give him a few minutes to cool down, because she knows she needs to cool off. She wrote - one day he can make all her fantasies come true. (IMO SB is one twisted momster.) She tried on his last name and said how good it sounded. She told him personal stuff, stuff about her family, how she trusts him enough to tell him anything. She wants to get tats and does not mind his Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n Roll lifestyle, she is only concerned because he is a musician, because Anthony is a musician. She wrote a nasty comment about Anthony.

The letters go to show that she obsesses over men she likes and was willing to adapt to their lifestyle, no matter what it took. She had only met this guy five times, in a cage, on a bus ride!

SB did have enough sense to look embarrassed while Judge Zackey read the letters out loud.

Friday Ms Cromer stated as a fact that Brendon was involved somehow. She showed the cell phone records, the call times do not match his testimony, she caught his lies...she said he is shaking in his shoes and she can prove he helped! No doubt she will.

When SB was on the stand (on Wednesday) she blathered on and on about some mystery aliment that was supposed to cause her to be infertile. She repeatedly referred to Emma's conception as a miracle. On cross, Ms Cromer called her out on this - asking why she didn't provide a letter from her MD to support this claim? Why was she carrying Plan B in her car? Why, if she was infertile did she tell Anthony and Brendon that she was on the pill? And why did Anthony and Brendon both testify that they saw her BC pills? Her brilliant answer to this line of questioning was to say "Just because I had the pill, doesn't mean I was taking it!" UGH! Her attitude makes me want to smack her lying face clean into next week...

I would think the jury can see what kind of liar Stacey Barker is by her testifying.

It is amazing how she can pattern herself to become what she thinks she needs to become when putting her claws on a new guy!

Stacey reminds me of Casey Anthony. I think both of them are sociopaths! Manipulative liars that are stone cold and me, me, me!

Special thanks to you, LCM, Toria and the ladies attending the trial. Without all of you, no one (except those attending the trial) would really know about the details of Emma's horrific death. I hope all of you take a break from this trial this week-end and have a nice week-end with your families. It is greatly deserved!

Judge Zackey said BB is suspected of being an accessory or an accessory after the fact, he either helped concoct the story and rape or possibly helped SB with hiding Emma's body.

IMO SB is not very bright, but she did think this through (and was not acting in a panic). She has family ties to Sylmar, her maternal grandparents still lived there in 2009. So SB was probably familiar with the area. It was EZ off and EZ on the FWY, when SB was driving from LA, on her way back to Palmdale - Sylmar is one of the least densely populated cities in LA County and is well known for gang and drug activity - making perfect sense for the dump site.

Emma's Daddy and His Uncle wore it proud on their ties this week, Grandma and Aunt have theirs and KELLY CROMER and Det. Sandy NAVA wore their's Proud at Closing Arguments....Trial is over and now they can wear them...

I can not think of anything interesting that Dager would have to say or that he will be able to take as long as Ms. Cromer, but as long winded as he is he will try! My NP sisters and I want to make a silent statement to them, when he goes up and starts his Closing statement, we all get up and walk out!

LC, one thing I forgot about while reading some of the posts you did was that somewhere in there Sue said that SB might have been going to Long Beach to try to pin the death on Anthony, well in closing KC said that off the Cherry Exit is mostly all Industrial Buildings, she shows a map, satellite view of the Buildings and said, what do all work places have? then answers "Big dumpsters" SB tells us she pulled over at this one place that looked like a gated community, when really it was a Company and the gates to the dumpster were locked! she was looking for a dumpster that was not locked up, that is where a lot of people throw dead bodies and children, in BIG DUMPSTERS....
Could SB have been going to put Emma in a dumpster near where Anthony lived and blame it on him?? WOW, what a thing to think about....
Did her and BB talk about doing that at lunch at Pollo Loco that day since they discussed Anthony?
BB wanted to make sure AH was out of SB'S life and she had nothing more to do with him, she assured him she no longer had contact with AH, and she had not seen him since last Nov. so why would she go to him for help????
Wouldn't that have pissed BB off for her to ask AH for help when she just finished telling him hours ago she wanted nothing more to do with Anthony, she promised!
What a way to make sure AH was out of her life by having him Investigated for murder....I am so glad she could not find a open Dumpster down there...
KC said that she was not able to find a dumpster and also needed to take her time so people would start to worry about her and Emma before she could go back to the park and ride and stage the scene, Kelly thinks that SB went to LAX to use one of the many pay phones to call BB at work....I think that KC thinks BB helped plan this or at least helped in the cover up...

What a beautiful thing about the Ladybug pins! LCM, you are really a very thoughtful lady. What a great way to honor precious little Emma and show support for Emma!

Toria, when you talk about the industrial buildings and SB looking for a dumpster, I thought of something. Many industrial buildings have security video. I wonder if LE ever checked to see if there was video and if SB was spotted.

In December, 2010, Jonathan Foster was kidnapped and it is suspected, within 4 hours of being kidnapped, he was murdered, burned beyond recognition (torch) and dumped in a bar ditch in Houston, Tx. The security camera outside of an industrial building nearby caught Mona Yvette Nelson putting Jonathan's remains in the ditch. It was all captured on tape!

It sounds like SB was going to frame AH. The sorry bi$ch!

Toria, I wonder if BB is under investigation and if he will be charged as an accessory or whatever in Emma's case.

I like the idea about the silent statement (walking out) and Dager. Toria, please let one person stay. If no one stays, we will never know about Dager's closing argument and what Stacey did during that time. Also, what the jurors did.

I hope Stacey is found guilty and she gets the maximum sentence allowed by California law!
