Re: Kyron Horman -- Missing 6/4/10 #2
Switching off the subject of Dez....what about the teacher marking Kyron absent?
The bell rang at 8:45 for the kids to go to their classroom until 9AM when they got to go back to the science fair. So we can assume roll was taken between 8:45 and 9AM.
There was a chaperon obviously AFTER 8:45 to take groups of 6 kids to check out the exhibits in some organized way.
Tanner said the chaperon said she only had 5 and asked where was Kyron. He said his teacher suggested he may have gone for water or to the bathroom (did she really? or did Tanner embellish?).....Tanner said the chaperon said then 'she was leaving'....meaning the chaperon was going to go ahead with her group of 5 kids. This doesn't make sense! The chaperon would have waited for Kyron a few minutes at least if the teacher had really said he might be in the bathroom etc! AND at this point the teacher would have already marked Kyron absent....so maybe Tanner just assumed the bathroom and water thing because he'd seen Kyron there earlier, but the teacher really told the chaperon Kyron was absent...so the chaperon went on her way.
YET the teacher claims she saw Kyron and Terri there that morning, so she knew he shouldn't have been absent! So we have to consider now that the teacher really did think Terri had taken Kyron to the doctor that Friday instead of the real Friday June 11...that's she'd shown up with Kyron so Kyron could see the science fair and then took him off with her to the doctor.
Terri has cleared this up by saying Kyron's teacher was hard of hearing and may have gotten confused because she/Terri had told her about the doctor appointment just the day before (June 3).
Now, there was speculation that Terri deliberately misled the teacher about what Friday Kyron was going to be absent so she could make him disappear. But Terri said she told the teacher early because the teacher had to fill out a paper that Terri had to take with her to the doctor's appointment. What paper?
It's been said by Kaine and Desiree that Kyron was having difficulties in school listening to his teachers. And it's been said Kyron had Asperger's Syndrome. All that suggests he may have had ADD....in which case the teacher would need to fill out a paper so the doctor might get Kyron's meds straight.
By this analysis, it just seems like a normal day! Nothing sinister going on...except Kryon went missing!
....and Kaine and Desiree claim that they have not verified if Kyron had a doctor's appointment at all! On any Friday, or on any day! And that's really disturbing to me...this info is necessary to validate Terri's story! Why don't they care? It would make another great thing to tell the media about while trashing Terri...it would be ONE LIE that could be proven instead of Dez and Kaine's normal suggestion that Terri lies, without giving any examples or proofs! Why miss this golden opportunity to show the world they are right about Terri being a liar?
Surely, LE has checked the doctor's appointment out! Did they find Terri was lying? Or did they find she was telling the truth?

Lottie, the assistants that were assigned to escort 5 or 6 kids were only suppose to account for the kids when they returned to the classroom. The attendance was not checked until 10 am when they returned to the class.
When the teacher commented that Kyron was probably in the bathroom or getting a drink of water, the assistant left the school. They did not check the roll @ 8:45.

Mama,
It has been said the grounds of Desiree and Kaine's divorce was Irreconcilable Differences and a Restraining Order was also issued.
I'll see what I can find later on today.

Morning Calypso!
From her RO she filed against him, it sounded as if she was afraid of him....she felt he was going to take the kids. I read another story she had filed for divorce, then found out she was pregnant, they tried to make it work and it didn't. I will have to find that article.....

Morning Piper!
I believe you are correct in it was fear of Kaine taking the children. It makes you wonder were here fears justified?
(And why would he take her older son, Quinn, he wasn't Kaine's biological son.)
If you can find anything on the divorce it'd be great!

Re: Kyron Horman -- Missing 6/4/10 #2
From the articles I have read, the school opened it's door's approx 0800hrs. The parents and visitors had until 0845hrs to view the exhibits.
At 0845hrs, the parents and visitors were to leave, students returned to class and were to be broken up into groups of 5-6 students per teacher, parent guide. (Someone could have hid in the building)
The school bell rang at 0845hrs everyday. (Which would be a good reason Terri knew what time she left specifically)
Tanner Pumala stated Kyron told him he was "going to look at a electric exhibit" and saw him standing by a door, his mother, Terri had already left.
The students were escorted around the different classrooms and returned to their classes just before 1000hrs.
When Kyron's group returned, Tanner Pumala stated the substitute stated she "Only had 5" and reported this to Ms Porter, Kyron's teacher. Ms Porter responded with "He probrably went to get a drink or use the bathroom". The substitute then said she "Was leaving" and left.
Attendance was taken and Ms Porter allegedly marked Kyron absent. (I think this is b/s and a means to take responsibility off the school. Let's face it, if Ms Porter marked him present and he wasn't, that's the teacher's butt and the school's liability. If they maintain he was marked absent, then the school can cover their butts with the no school notification which was in place at the time of the disappearance. The school board and county can't afford a lawsuit.)
ETA: And since Tanner Pumala appears to be the only one who witnessed this, as far as we know, it's Tanner's word against the school board.

I firmly believe the school wants to take no responsibility at all for Kyron going missing........I feel it's been hush-hushed from the beginning. That's why times and such haven't been publicly verified by LE, it's also another reason they have swept Tanner's statement under the rug. His grandma even stated she was told not to disclose Tanner's statement, but she let him be interviewed anyway. She felt the information needed to be out there. I don't know if I agree with her on letting such a young child be interviewed on television in this situation. She could have repeated his statement, but she did it and we watched as Tanner told it in his own words.

Re: Kyron Horman -- Missing 6/4/10 #2
CONFUSION! Help! :)
Has anyone seen it written anywhere by LE or the School staff what time roll was taken that day?
I haven't seen it....it's just been my guess that it would reasonably have been taken at the same time it was taken on any other day...that being when the 8:45 bell rang for classes to begin?
Schools generally have a warning bell (8:45?) and then a late bell a few minutes later. Then roll is taken.
Also a reason why I 'guess' the roll was taken before 9AM is because they HAVE to account for these kids once the kids are their responsibility...insurance is one reason.
And I don't know Oregon, but my experience with schools that are federally regulated has been that they don't change the rules day by day...so if roll is taken at a certain time that's always the time! They're not going to change it for just one day and take it AFTER the science fair at 10. Can you just imagine kids wandering in between 9 and 10 and trying to find their group? NO...these kids were accounted for before 9!
Also, these rolls are faxed to the state daily...they're not just for the local school records. The state and feds pay the schools based on how many kids are there each day. I know this for a fact! And all a kid has to do is show up for roll, then they can leave and the school still gets paid for that kid for that day. That's a fact!
But maybe they did take roll late that day! The small town seems a bit laid back. Perhaps their schools aren't as regimented as some. Perhaps they didn't take roll until after 10....and perhaps the chaperon only missed Kyron when she got her group back to the classroom at 10. Perhaps the teacher did assume Kyron was getting water or whatnot, then falsified her records to show him absent to keep the school out of trouble? Perhaps Kyron slipped off from his group when he told Tanner he was going to see that other exhibit....well...Looks like we'd have heard from the chaperon that she DID have Kyron at some point....and we've not hear that. The impression is left that she didn't ever have him with her group....for this to have happened Kyron was gone before 9AM. And if roll was taken before 9, then the marking of him being absent makes sense.
It would be very convenient for the school to say the roll wasn't taken until after 10AM. This would give a much larger window of opportunity for Kyron to have been snatched without them being responsible. But I believe they'd be in violation of a state and/or federal law. I don't believe the school would cover their butts by faking marking Kyron absent.
So...anyone seen PROOF of when roll was taken that day? TIA

That's like saying the school had conducted backround checks on ALL school personel on anyone that came in contact with their students, or a security system was in place, or the school wasn't crazy with 300 kids and their parents, and friends, and exhibits, and there was organization!
"Also a reason why I 'guess' the roll was taken before 9AM is because they HAVE to account for these kids once the kids are their responsibility...insurance is one reason."
That's what I'm saying, their ass is on the line!
The school SCREWED UP!

You know, Tanner's a little kid...he seems intelligent enough....but he hasn't said what time he saw Kyron when Kyron said he was going to look at the cool electric exhibit. Kids that age don't 'linear' things....I think Tanner is speaking in generalities, clumping the events together out of context.
Now obviously when he spoke with Kyron, Kyron was not with his group or Tanner would have said so. So likely Tanner saw Kyron before 9AM. And Kyron was not with Terri or anyone else...so it's a fair guess it was between 8:45 and 9.
UNLESS Kyron didn't go to his classroom when he was supposed to and was wandering the science fair alone after 9. Tanner needs to say if HE/Tanner was with HIS group when he saw Kyron or if it was before he/Tanner was with his group.
I need to go play reporter in Portland and get me some answers! :)

Lifted from another site:
NOTE: Searchers have declined to provide some details of the investigation, including when school officials marked Kyron Horman absent on June 4.
Friday, June 4
8 a.m. Skyline Elementary, 11536 N.W. Skyline Blvd., opens early so students and parents can tour the science fair. A billboard outside reads: "June 4, I.B. Inquiry Expo, 8-10, Talent show, 1-2:45." Kyron was to take part in both the expo/science fair and the talent show.
Terri Moulton Horman arrives shortly afterward with her stepson, Kyron.
8:15 a.m. Gina Zimmerman, president of the school PTA, arrives and sees Kyron with his stepmother in front of his exhibit.
8:45 a.m. Terri Horman leaves after watching Kyron walk toward his classroom after touring the science fair.
9 a.m. Someone reports seeing Kyron at the school, but investigators won't say who or where. It's the last time anyone remembers seeing the boy.
10 a.m. Classes begin.
At some point, Kyron's homeroom teacher, Kristina Porter, reports him absent.
1:21 p.m. Terri Horman posts photos of Kyron at the science fair on her Facebook page.
3:30 p.m. Terri Horman goes to meet the school bus and discovers that Kyron has been absent all day.
3:46 p.m. Skyline School secretary Susan Hall places a call to 9-1-1 about Kyron being missing.
4:33 p.m. Officers from the Portland Police Bureau and the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office arrive simultaneously at Skyline School and the Horman home.
5:30 p.m. Rapid broadcast message from Portland Public Schools goes out to alert families of a missing student. The message: "Kyron Horman did not arrive at home today." It was broadcast to the phones of parents across the school district.
7 p.m. Multnomah County sheriff's Detective Sergeant Lee Gosson alerts Sgt. Travis Gullberg, the county's on-call coordinator for search-and-rescue efforts, of the need to begin a formal missing persons search for Kyron.
Between 7 and 7:15 p.m. The Multnomah County Public Information Officer begins to return pages from members of the media and arranges to meet them at the school.
8:15 p.m. Lt. Mary Lindstrand, the PIO, arrives at the school, meets with those present, and then begins e-mailing a photo of Kyron to local television stations and The Oregonian.
9:48 p.m. Mountain Wave, an emergency communications and search and rescue group based in Gresham arrives on the scene.

Deputies have said Kyron's absence went unnoticed.
from that link...
"Normally, when a student is marked absent, that goes down -- depending on the school -- throughout the day. The school secretary collects and enters it into the student information system and then, in most cases, the attendance calls it out," Shelby said.
The district did not release any details on when or if information about Kyron's absence was collected by the school. Shelby said that information is part of the sheriff's office investigation.
So we still don't know for a fact when roll was taken. And we're not going to because it's part of the investigation.
Also, the way I read that first paragraph, where it says 'depending on the school' means whatever time each school takes up...not that they can just do roll whenever they want to. And 'throughout the day' is for high school when they change classes and each class takes roll all day long.
Calypso, it seems you're on the school's ASS! 8) Keep on 'em, you never know! I do know one thing about schools from all my years volunteering...they LIE to cover their asses all the time.

thanks Piper for the Tanner vid....
Taking Dez and Kaine's unsubstantiated accusation completely out of the picture, and going with Tanner's recall...
He says Ms Porter told the substitute to Calm down....Ms Porter was suspecting Kyron was in the bathroom or getting water....so this means she must have seen him earlier or she assumed the substitute had seen him earlier...either way, she didn't try to find out where Kyron was....big trouble! UNLESS, she did and it's part of the investigation....
I hate this case! haha

With all that mass confusion and lack of security going on there that day, they're lucky they only lost one.
Shelby is just a talking head trying to do damage control.
All that money those cheapskates saved by not putting in security for those students is now coming out of the counties rear end to pay for Kyron's search.
And, may very well cost cost Kyron his life.

It's been said Kyron's jacket and backpack were still at school. If so, how can he be absent?
Can someone check the weather for that day on Portland?

I havent been on for a couple of days (busy busy) and hoped to come on and find some good news about Kyron....Still Nothing...
Sad to say that many boards, news articles, and seeming public opinion, still rants on about the family...
Im so sick that the investigationb has been plagued with tunnel vision, (TERRI INVOLVEMENT) from the start (which seems to be typical in this type of case)....
No artilcles of LE EVER checking any landfills, transfer stations, RSO, no amber alert....
Seems to me they manipulated (what I will refer to as easily led ppl in the community) where they pointed their finger at Terri and for no good reason..
In the meantime, there cud be a pig out there, waiting for his next high risk abduction, where the public has basically taught him, that he will never get caught as the parents will be blamed.....
This almost makes me vomit...
When we see cases of parents/family killing thewir children, there is always liots of evidence to prve they did it and why. In this case, what many seem tpo0 be content with as evidence, is a blended family where we have heard about their individual divorces...
For this to be considered evidence where many have built on to family dynamics is a travesty...
We have helped promote ppl to come out of the woodwork ( to help corroborate crazy theories) where we nothing about this potential liar and criminal landscaper who decided to come out with this almost a yr later...
Many are satisfied that he has told the truth, where we know nothing about him, or any of his possible motives, yet we give him the benefit, along with giving peds and RSO the benefit, where we have found outr after the fact that the family really had no involvement at al, and we were only lucky in such a few cases, where the families cud finally be exonerated, and still have to endure such an unimagineable loss...
I can hardly stand following the case... still No Kyron.. God Bless Him!

Thanks for finding this link, Piper!
According to this article, Desiree went to Canada for a two month stay due to kidney problems.
We read last night that if you are having a kidney transplant, you have to live by the hospital because you need frequent visits to he DR.. I'm almost positive it's a six month period. So, I think it is safe to assume Desiree DID NOT have a kidney transplant.
She was only in Canada for two months.

Calypso... Welcome !!! too funny.. I have done all of this.. right from the start.. Where have you been ?? lol (I wish you were at KGW with me lol)
I also called the landfills and found out their close proximity to the school... there also 2 transfer stations that I contacted where the employee said there is next to know security, in terms of checking what you have... the transfer stations are both about 6miles away from the school and the landfill maybe 25 minutes..there was also a carnival in town just days before...
Here is a link for the weather that day... It was cloudy and a little drizzle between 8 and 10 am...

Kyron Horman: Talk Is Cheap As Media Do The Police Work
Posted: 20th, July 2010
KYRON Horman: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at the missing Oregon seven-year-old in the news: Ron Tarver, Terri Moulton Horman and poor police rely on the media…
No evidence. No clues. Not proof a crime has taken place. But all eyes remain on Terri Horman, the last person known to have seen Kyron Horman.
CBS: “Kyron’s Dad: I Think Stepmom Had Accomplice”
Isn’t that slander? Are the police listening?
Kaine says, “Based upon briefings, I firmly believe that someone else is involved.”
The police tell Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, Kyron’s birth mother and wife to police officer Tony Young. And the parents tell the media.
The police are still getting the media and the family to do their dirty work. Nothing new in that. But the police appear to be clueless. If they had evidence they could arrest Terri Horman, their target. But they clearly do not have.
As he says:
“As long as there’s no body, there’s this shadow of a doubt that he could be out there somewhere,” says a police detective who asked not to be identified. “As cold as it sounds, I think part of what law enforcement is doing is hanging back and waiting for her to do something stupid.”
Maybe the police have no more money to do a proper investigation? Talk is cheap:
The sheriff’s and District Attorney’s offices of Multnomah County are prepared to ask the Board of Commissioners for nearly $700,000 to aid in the search for seven-year-old Kyron Horman, missing since June 4th. Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton and District Attorney Michael Schrunk will reportedly ask for the money to hire a technician, pay for overtime and the ongoing criminal investigation.
Terri Horman has now moved out of the family home.
* Terri Horman has moved approximately 170 miles away from Portland and is living with her parents in Roseburg, Oregon. Now that she has moved there are logistics in the case that will make the investigation difficult. According to a report by KGW, Terri Horman’s parents have posted a sign on their door announcing that they will not speak with media.
Introducing Ron Tarver And Terri’s son James
* As part of our coverage of the Kyron Horman case, we went to Roseburg last month to talk to Ron Tarver, ex-husband of Terri Moulton Horman and the father of her oldest child, 16-year-old James.
Tarver revealed then to WW the answers to questions many observers had been asking—when and why James had moved away from the Portland home he shared until recently with the Hormans.
Tarver said Terri Horman had sent James to live in the southern Oregon town of Roseburg last March because the boy’s grades at Lincoln High School in Portland were dropping and he was acting out at home, including butting heads with his stepfather, Kaine Horman. Tarver said James was living nearby with Terri Horman’s parents but frequently visited Tarver’s home.
Sara Libby looks at the media’s obsession with Kyron Horman:
It was only a yet another example of the media’s crush to report on abductions and foul play involving white women and children, while giving little coverage to minorities who disappear: The latest example is 17-year-old Norma Lopez, who appears to have been kidnapped on her way home from summer school in Moreno Valley, Calif. Most of the coverage of Lopez’s disappearance has come from local news outlets, while the national attention to the case by places like the Los Angeles Times and CNN has been restricted to short blog posts — rising nowhere near the level that dominated the disappearances of girls like Elizabeth Smart and Natalee Holloway.

Ex-Military Remote Viewer Lends Hand In Kyron Case
Kyron Horman Has Not Been Seen Since June 4 At Skyline School
POSTED: 7:10 am PDT July 21, 2010
UPDATED: 11:20 am PDT July 21, 2010
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office received some unsolicited help from a former military investigator this week in the case of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman.
Edward Dames, a retired remote viewer who once worked with the Army, worked with his team for three weeks to try to determine the physical location of the missing boy, who has not been since June 4 at Skyline School in northwest Portland.
Dames said the missing boy is located on private property roughly 10 miles south of the school.
"He's not where police are searching," he said. "(He's) not in the water and not that far away."
A remote viewer is a specialized psychic once used by the CIA and U.S. military during the cold war. Dames was the inspiration for the movie "The Men Who Stare At Goats."
He said he uses a mental technique to locate a missing person's geographic location and then goes out into the field to find the target. However, Dames said he's unable to do so in this case because he said the boy is on private property, which can present unknown dangers for his team.
Dames' report was sent to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, which is the lead agency in the criminal investigation.
Multnomah County deputies confirmed they received the report, which Dames said pinpoints Kyron's location within 60 feet. A spokeswoman with the sheriff's office said an investigator is examining leads from the report and following up on anything it generates.
Dames said he often works on missing or exploited children cases when he has downtime between contracts. He said he has been involved "both quietly and not so quietly" with many cases over the years, but he "doesn't usually work with law enforcement agencies.
""It's totally a public service. I'm a parent," Dames said. "The idea that a child is missing and no closure to that hell would be hell on earth as a parent."
Sheriff, DA Ask For $439,000 To Help Investigation
On Monday, the sheriff and district attorney's office asked for more money to keep up the pace of the investigation into Kyron's disappearance.
They asked for more than $439,000 to be taken out of the county general fund's contingency portion, which is used for unforeseen events and emergencies.
Retired sheriff's Capt. Bruce McCain said he understands the funding for the district attorney to cover future prosecution costs, but he said the sheriff's request is a bad sign for the Kyron case.
"When you look at the request with the fact that they plan on going back in October for a continued briefing on the investigation, that would seem to indicate there's nothing happening imminently," he said.
The request will go to a vote Thursday morning. As of Tuesday, it appeared likely that it would be approved by county commissioners.
News Conference Scheduled For Next Week
On Wednesday, sheriff's deputies said they planned to answer questions from the media about the investigation into Kyron Horman's disappearance.
They plan to release a written statement no later than Friday based on questions submitted to them.
They have also planned a news conference for Tuesday, July 27, where lead investigator Sgt. Lee Gosson and Chief Deputy Tim Moore will be present. The exact time has not been announced.

If Kyron was so upset and crying about going back to his father's house, wouldn't ANY mother confront the father?
Would this not require and inquiry?
First of all - welcome Calypso (one of my FAVORITE scentsy scents) - I see you are very well-versed on this case - I hope you enjoy it here! I wanted to say that recently, I was faced w/this - BOTH of my children refused to go back to their dad's house after a month long stay (which he is entitled to for his summer visitation) and you know what? I called him and told him that they wouldn't be coming back - I will NOT force that upon them - if they don't want to go there is a reason!! I would fight tooth and nail before sending my kids anywhere against their will - at the very least, she should have questioned Kaine what was going on in the home and expressed her concerns - the fact that she didn't - to me at least, means that she didn't want to face the alternative, meaning that Kyron come to live w/ her...
Now I'll go back and finish reading and catching up :0)

Tish, I dont blame you at all ! The thought of having to sens a child somewhere they clearly state, they do not want to go wud be torture. It is sad that there are court orders that enforce this. Im glad you solved the dilema case closed and the kids are home with you where they belong...
The prob with Dez's "suspicion" is that ..according to her, Kyron cried when it was time to leave.. At no time did she or K say that Kyron ever said, he didnt want to live with T and K.. As far as crying when a child leaves someone they love, I think it is plausible ...Why wudnt he cry? He is leaving on loved one, to go bak to other loved ones...
I have no doubt that Kyron didnt love all 3 !. Crying wud seem natural for a child his age.. Bittersweet! at the very least..Maybe he was crying more lately becasue he felt a distance from Dez and was feeling insecure with her...
If Kyron didnt want to live with Terri and K i am sure he was old enough to have articulated such a statement and very clearly..He wud have said that he didnt want to live there anymore, or make a statement that he wanted to live with Dez.
On account that D only gave her analysis that Kyron wasnt happy at home, tells me she is full of BS..and is only trying to add more fuel to the fiire that LE has clearly started..
If Kyron didnt want to live with Terri ..he wud have said that and it wud have showed up, even at his school..

PORTLAND – The father of missing seven-year-old Kyron Horman attended three hours of meetings at the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.
KGW’s live truck was parked outside the sheriff’s office as Kaine Horman entered the building around 6 p.m. and left around 9 p.m. However, Kaine told KGW on the way out that he did not wish to comment on the three hours of meetings he had just attended.
Lt. Mary Lindstrand, a spokeswoman with the sheriff’s office, also told KGW she would not comment on why Kaine was there Tuesday.
Late Wednesday morning, Sheriff Daniel Staton released a statement to the media promising he was working to complete a thorough investigation, even if he could not elaborate on all the details.
“There are many decision points which are discussed and filtered among investigators, deputy district attorneys, command staff and other experts. Our detectives and searchers are continuing to follow up on many leads to include establishing and verifying information relating to Kyron's activities prior to his disappearance,” he said in the statement.
Staton told KGW he would accept written questions from reporters and then a written statement would be released no later than Friday in response to the questions submitted.*

Re: Kyron Horman -- Missing 6/4/10 #2
Kyron is just one yr younger than Shelby (my middle daughter), she cries pretty frequently - esp when transferred between parents, and she'll be the first to tell you that she doesn't even know why she's crying - when I ask her what's wrong, she'll say "i don't know, my feelings are just hurt" that's the only way she knows how to explain herself. Even my older son has difficulty in really expressing hsi feelings about the situation, and he's 10 - so I can't believe that Kyron is much different in that aspect - he probably is trying to cope as best he can - and the crying was as you say aj - just him leaving his mom (desiree) - i know my kids can be very torn at times - they want things to be okay - they want all their parents together, and to not have to make a decision, and then at other times, they are very decided that they do not want to go back to their dads for a period of time... Either way, we all try to accomodate them as the situation is hardest on the kids.
I have one nagging question I can't seem to let go, and I'm trying to connect the dots - Is Kyron Desiree's oldest child?
And one more thing, I really don't see anything sinister in what Desiree was saying to Kyron - that he saved her life - many mothers feel that way about their children (I know at times during my life, my kids where what kept me going) but I'm not sure that I would personally phrase a letter that way if my child was missing. My opinion on her letter to Kyron was that it was too self-centered, there were too many I's, me's, my's, etc... another thing, is that she continuously refers to Kyron as passed tense - I have some problems with that - to me, it means that if she wasn't involved, (which I don't believe any immediate family members were directly involved) then she may know what happened to him - either that, or it could also be argued that she really has no hope that he is still alive because subconsiously she's referring to him in the past.
One more thing, and I'll be done... tony is a cop... I can't believe that he isn't trying to independently find out what happened to his step-son... I would be trying to find out even if i wasn't LE, but seeing that he is, surely he's doing his own investigative work? and maybe that's where desiree is getting her info? not saying that's right - but she is adamant about terri's involvement - and kaine is too, but more reserved - and at least has recently said that perhaps she has been telling the truth since there is no evidence - but desiree is hell bent on crucifying terri over this instead of focusing on kyron, that's he's missing and that someone is free to offend again - which is more the reaction we get from other mothers - like Somer Thompsons mother...

Carol Moulton said the kids were supposed to report to their classes and be divided into small groups of a few students each. Each group was supposed to tour the science fair with a chaperone. afterward, when they returned to their classes for roll call, Kyron wasn't there, she said.

Although the school usually opens at 8:35 a.m. and the final bell rings 10 minutes later, the school opened as early as 8 Friday for the science fair, said Matt Shelby, spokesman for Portland Public Schools.
Other students and parents showed up early as well to check out the fair, and Terri and Kyron saw people they knew while looking at the exhibits, Carol Moulton said.
Terri often volunteers at the school, working closely with Kyron's teacher, Kristina Porter. Shelby said that Porter saw Kyron in her classroom with his stepmom before 8:45 a.m. and another instructor reported seeing him in another classroom at some point.
At 8:45 a.m. when the bell rang, Terri walked her stepson down the hall close to his class.

Details emerge about the day Kyron Horman turned up missing

Friday began as a special day for 7-year-old Kyron Horman. His school in Northwest Portland was having a science fair and he was keen to show off his project to his stepmother.
So, instead of taking the bus near his home off Cornelius Pass Road as usual, he hopped into the car with his stepmother, Terri Moulton Horman, who drove him to Skyline Elementary School.
They arrived sometime after the school opened about 8 a.m., went to his classroom, dropped off his coat and backpack and he showed his stepmother his exhibit, "The Red-Eyed Tree Frog."
Horman, who has raised Kyron since he was an infant, snapped a picture of him standing in front of it that she later posted on her Facebook page. It shows a bespectacled and beaming short-haired boy wearing a blue "CSI" T-shirt in front of an exhibit with photos of bug-eyed frogs, an anatomical drawing of the creature and other artwork.
"He was so excited about his science project," said Carol Moulton, Horman's mother and Kyron's grandmother. "They had worked on it together. He was anxious to take it to school and show it off."
After that, the two looked at other projects set up on desks in classrooms. There are about 300 students at Skyline Elementary, and all of them were invited to contribute to the fair.
Although the school usually opens at 8:35 a.m. and the final bell rings 10 minutes later, the school opened as early as 8 Friday for the science fair, said Matt Shelby, spokesman for Portland Public Schools.

At 8:45 a.m. when the bell rang, Terri walked her stepson down the hall close to his class.
"He told her, 'I'm going back to the classroom, Mom,' and she waves to him and left," Carol Moulton said. "She thought he was safely at school just like he is everyday."
What happened to the boy who went missing is unclear.
Carol Moulton said the kids were supposed to report to their classes and be divided into small groups of a few students each. Each group was supposed to tour the science fair with a chaperone. Afterward, when they returned to their classes for roll call, Kyron wasn't there, she said.
After leaving the school, Terri went about her day, running errands and taking care of household chores. She is a former elementary school teacher and has worked as a substitute teacher at various schools, but Moulton said that in recent years she has mainly been a stay-at-home mom.
Kyron's father, Kaine Horman, works at Intel's main administrative facility in Oregon, the Jones Farm campus in Hillsboro, the company said.
Kyron's biological mother, Desiree Horman, and his father were officially divorced in February 2003, according to Washington County Circuit Court records.
Carol Moulton said that Kaine, 36, and Terri, 40, have been together for seven or eight years and that they have been married for four or five years. The couple have an 18-month-old girl.
"Terri has raised Kyron," her mother said. "She's been with him since he was an infant. She's as much of a mom as the mom is because the parents had separated about the time that Kyron was born."
She said he visits his biological mother in Medford every couple of weeks and that Desiree, 38, came to Portland as soon as she heard about his disappearance.
Kyron was supposed to take the bus home Friday, so Terri went to the bus stop at 3:30 p.m. to pick him up.
But the bus driver told her he wasn't there.
Panicked, she ran home and called the school to discover that he had been marked absent for the day.
She called 9-1-1, setting off a search that's drawn in a swarm of officers and several law enforcement agencies, including the FBI.
Officers, working with sniffer dogs, have combed the hilly, wooded area around Skyline Elementary.
Moulton doubts Kyron wandered off on his own. It's just not in his character, she said.
"He's a little bit dreamy. He's a sweet kid. He gets distracted. He's your typical second-grader," she said.
But he's no Huckleberry Finn.
"He's not real adventurous," she said. "He's a little timid. But if a friend wanted to go outside and look at something, he would follow the friend. He has a friend who he regularly gets in trouble with in the classroom because he talks too much."
Moulton said Kyron will not even venture far from his home in a wooded area.
"He won't get out of sight of the house," she said. "He's pretty insecure about that. So I can't see him wandering off."
His disappearance is devastating for the close-knit family, which plays board games together, goes bowling and enjoys visits to the Oregon Zoo. A few years ago, the family took a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Terri also has a 16-year-old son from a former marriage who has lived with her mom and dad for the past few months in Roseburg. The teen's father also lives in the area and the two are on a Boy Scout camping trip this weekend.
It will be difficult to give him the news, Moulton said.
"It's a total mystery," she said. "He just vanished. I just can't believe it."

Calypso....thanks, but you don't need to bother searching info about the roll for me anymore. I'm fine with what LE said...that being that they confirm nothing about when the roll was taken....
The district did not release any details on when or if information about Kyron's absence was collected by the school. Shelby said that information is part of the sheriff's office investigation.

Sources: Terri Horman vague on Kyron’s doctor appointment date
Story Published: Jul 21, 2010 at 7:11 PM PDT
Story Updated: Jul 21, 2010 at 8:38 PM PDT
PORTLAND, Ore. - There was no expectation on the part of Skyline School that Kyron Horman would be in class after the science fair the day he disappeared, according to multiple sources.
Prior to his June 4 disappearance, Kyron Horman’s stepmother, Terri Horman, informed his teacher he had a doctor’s appointment on Friday, the sources said, and it was why there was no expectation Kyron would be in class after the science fair. Once class began at 10 a.m., his teacher marked him absent.
According to sources, investigators believe Terri Horman was vague about which Friday she was referring to when she gave notice to the school Kyron would be gone and only after he was missing did she clarify that the doctor’s appointment was on June 11, the Friday after the science fair.
Portland Public Schools spokesperson Matt Shelby told KATU News, "Two teachers were the last school staff to see Kyron at Skyline. His own teacher and another teacher saw him inside the school with his stepmother, and there didn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary.”
Kim Holm’s son, Kurtis, who Terri Horman photographed with his science project around the time she took a picture of Kyron that morning, said her son knew about the appointment too.
“And the teacher said, ‘I thought he left with his mom,’ because they thought they had a doctor appointment,” Holm said. “And then at lunchtime, Kurtis ate lunch with him every day, he wasn’t there at lunchtime. And then I got a call at 4:30ish, saying he didn’t get off the bus, I guess. And Kurtis said, ‘Oh yeah, I knew he was already gone all day Mom.’”
At 1:21 that afternoon Terri Horman posted the science fair photos on her Facebook page. At 3:30 she went to meet Kyron’s school bus, which he never boarded. Then came her 9-1-1 call, and the search for Kyron began.
The issue of the doctor appointment is among several questions KATU News has submitted to Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton. He is expected to answer those questions, in writing, sometime in the next couple of days.
Terri Horman has not been named a suspect or person of interest in Kyron’s disappearance and there have been no arrests made in the case.

I'm sure it's been checked out whether Kyron ever had a doctor's appointment at all, that is too easily done.

I'm sure LE has already checked this, but since they aren't saying anything the media is just repeating stories because they don't have anything else to print.

Dez and Kaine commented that they didn't know if he had one or not and still didn't know weeks later. Looks like that would be something Kaine wouldn't have left to LE to check out. He could have called the doctor's office and checked to see if Kyron had an appointment at all! I would have done that right away after Terri said he did have one for June 11....and especially after Terri said the teacher was hard of hearing and might have misheard what Friday Kyron's appointment was.
Terri said she gave Kyron's teacher a paper she needed her to fill out to take to the doctor's appointment on June 11. Terri said that's why she told his teacher a week ahead of time. So that doesn't sound like anything sinister...and since Kaine and Dez and LE don't want to verify Terri's account, it must be in her favor!
Kaine/Dez/LE Rule #1: If it's not incriminating to Terri, leave it out!

Above Rule #1 applies to when the roll was taken as well....
They know damn right when Ms Porter took roll that day! They just don't want to say in case they need to use/twist it to hang Terri
....like, they could only use it to hang Terri if the roll was taken prior to 9AM...but if it was taken at 10, that opens too large a window for someone else to have taken Kyron
....AND since they have evidence Terri wasn't anywhere near the school between 9 and 10, AND since Tanner said he saw Terri leave the school without Kyron (and they want to hush Tanner's statement)....well, if roll was taken at 10 then Terri should be off the hook, right?
Oh no! Not right! That's probably why Dez and Kaine have decided Terri had help! Yeah yeah, she got someone else to go get Kyron while she was making an alibi for herself by running errands and leaving her cell phone on for tracking.

I wonder when these statements made, the school, teachers, staff, and students are under a GAG ORDER.

Here's what I think about that appointment. I could be wrong, and it does involve some assumptions, so take it with a grain of salt...
1) It was not a normal appointment if it involved paperwork.
2) There have been comments about Kyron's personality: dreamy, problem following directions, and a few others.
3) My GUESS is that it was an assessment for an LD...perhaps ADHD. I have experience with this type of assessment as my child has been assessed numerous times over the course of his life. It began at birth as he was 3 months premature. He was followed by our local children's hospital & Early Intervention until he was 3yo, then it moved into the school. Since it seems that Kyron does not currently have any sort of diagnosis, I believe this would have been his initial screening...which involves questionaires to be completed by the teacher & the parents.
4) These types of assessments are generally NOT independent of school. Generally, but not always, it will be the school that raises the concerns through a screening. That report will be sent to the parents, and it's up to the parents to follow-up. Some parents will stop the ball at this point, and some will follow through to 'rule' problems out OR figure out the best way to educate the student for success.
5) I beleive that Terri was NOT telling the teacher ABOUT the appointment, but rather about the paperwork that needed to be completed, and this is why it is perceived to be vague.
6) I think the school screwed up ROYALLY and is now back-pedalling so that they don't get their butts seued off...saddly if this is true, it could be the nail in Terri's coffin.
I have my suspicions that D & K may not be all that thrilled about Kyron being assessed...and quite frankly it may have been a secret. Terri is a SNs teacher and knows how important a tailored IEP can be to the success of a student, or conversely how detrimental if could be for a student to be without one. There are a lot of parents that would prefer not to give a child a label and would prefer to take the approach "there's nothing wrong with my kid" It is so common infact, that I can absolutely believe that 1 out of the 3 had this opinion.
The school will most likely know if Kyron was in the assessment process...and that in my mind will be the TRUTH about that appointment...unless of course we find out that no appointment ever existed...which I think LE would know by now.
In terms of Kyron not wanting to go home from D's...I beleive that D & K are rewriting history. I think in order for them to remain hopeful the BEST scenario for Kyron would be if Terri did do this. With everything that would be necessary for her to have pulled this off with what we do know, it seems to defy logic without an accomplice. Let's be real though...who the heck would help her and remain helpful at this time after all that's happened. I think the only way that K & D can continue to convince themselves that Terri is involved (and deny other senarios) is to look back and find more evidence to strengthen their beleif. I don't think it's an intentional thing, I think it's just their strong desire to avoid thinking about the 'next best' alternative...which I think would be something along the lines of Shawn Hornbeck.
I only hope & pray that LE isn't being so narrow-minded...although they appear to be.
IF IF IF, they are considering a Shawn Hornbeck type scenario...(and I personally think this is makes the most sense, but I'm not LE) it would actually benefit them to continue this illusion of targeting Terri. It would mean that this 'local-pizzaman type' would feel safe, and therefore be willing to hold him longer...for if he feels he's got the 'hot-potatoe' Kyron's fate will be locked.
I do think with the chaos in that school that morning, and with open to the public event, that this is a VERY likely scenario. I think it is very possible that a person was lurking for an opportunity, and potentially posing as a parent/child.
BTW - do we know where Kyron's classroom is. Terri says he was heading to his class, Tanner says he was going to see a cool electric project, Tyler says he saw him in the gym. Is the gym on the same wing of the school. Could Terri have been going to her truck, at the same time that Kyron was in the gym? Could someone have gotten him from the gym? Or was Kyron actually part of the tour and this is when Tyler saw him (with some other friends?). If that child was part of those tours...that school is in BIG trouble!

Re: Kyron Horman -- Missing 6/4/10 #2
I can understand that Desiree might have had NO knowledge of any appt - but not Kaine - I can't believe for one second that Terri set up any appt w/o any mention of it to Kaine at the dinner table or pillow talk or whatever... My husband can't tell you dates/times, etc of our kids appt, but he darn sure well knows about them the minute they are scheduled...
I agree that they (LE, Kaine, Desiree, school officials) are all being so vague on timelines, whether or not Kyron even had an appt scheduled, timing of the roll taken (which is 10:00 for our schools) - and it does make me wonder if the timeline hasn't been nailed down intentionally, as you say Lottie - so they have enough time left in the timeline to work Terri and her mysterious accomplise into the timeline... and then we have this other little boy Kurtis? Did Kurtis see him earlier in the morning and just noticed he was gone at lunch? and Kurtis also thought he had an appt? and why then does the media keep on portraying Terri as the last person to see him, when we know now that is not the case? Tanner is actually the last person who saw him and why is the school and LE trying to suppress Tanner's acct? (which I believe is accurate, as he has NO reason to lie) and - furthermore, I DO believe Tanner, because I have a child that age - and she does know who she sees and when - she may not be able to give an exact time - but if she told me she saw so and so after the bell rang, I would believe her... it's not like they are in preschool... I hope that when LE decides to answer some questions that they will be more forthcoming with what they have uncovered - otherwise I'll resign myself to the fact that they've been sitting up there for almost 2 months twiddling their thumbs...

Hi KJ, and Welcome to the Fair And Balanced RC!
What you suggest about a possible ADHD assessment makes sense. If you recall, Kaine said Kyron was having problems listening to authority in school...and 'they' had been trying to talk to him about listening to what the adults at school tell him to do. Kaine said Kyron didn't have this problem at home, just at school. And since Kyron doesn't seem like a bad kid or too stupid to follow instructions, ADHD would be a reason why he may have been having trouble with things like (and I'm speculating here) staying in his seat, not being impulsive etc. Also, with ADHD kids, while they are distracted easily, once they are doing something they enjoy they don't like to quit just because someone says to...and they throw temper tantrums.
So let's say, for sake of argument, Kyron was being assessed for ADHD or something to that effect....Kaine and Dez both seem to be ego driven....Terri, not so much. Kaine and Dez might not have liked for Kyron to be diagnosed with a 'problem'. HOWEVER, IF he did have such a problem and was impulsive, he might go off on his own at the science fair...and ANY stranger might have been able to lure him away quite easily.
ETA....and maybe Kaine is feeling guilty about impressing on Kyron to need to listen to 'adults' at school....and would rather blame Terri than think Kyron might have listened to the wrong 'adult'.

You're right, tish! Terri wasn't the last person to see Kyron!
So if they want to blame this on Terri still, then they have to say she sneaked back into the school and got him out again (but her known whereabouts defy that possibility) OR she had an accomplice do it.
They really need to get off the Terri kick and get on a more viable path if they want to find Kyron....I don't think they have a chance of finding him so long as they only focus on Terri and who she might have incorporated into her assumed 'dastardly deed'.
