Jonathan Paul Foster
I'd like to thank Ann - Tx for writing the following article about Jonathan Foster.
Jonathan Paul FosterJonathan Paul Foster, age 12, of northwest Houston, Texas was kidnapped on Christmas Eve,
December 24, 2010, from his home while his mother, Angela Davis, was at work.
It is believed Jonathan was murdered, by his kidnapper, sometime during the afternoon of
December 24, 2010.
Houston police said Mona Yvette Nelson, age 44 of Houston, Tx, took Jonathan from his home, killed him and dumped his burned body in a drainage ditch all within about four hours.
On December 28, 2010, a child's body, burned beyond recognition, was found partially stuffed in a culvert in a drainage ditch by a passerby in northeast Houston, Harris County, Tx. This location was approximately five miles from Jonathan's home.
There was a nearby industrial business which had surveillance cameras on the exterior of their building. After the body was found, Houston Police Department (HPD) investigators observed, via the surveillance video, a person, in a truck, dumping the charred remains at approximately 6 p.m. on December 24, 2010 at the location of where the burned body was found.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences in Houston, Tx made a positive identification of the body and it was Jonathan P. Foster.
On December 29, 2010, Texas EquuSearch (TES), who was conducting a search for Jonathan, was notified to suspend the search for Jonathan.
Based on the surveillance video of the nearby business, HPD was able to determine who owns the truck. Along with other investigative information, HPD arrested Mona Yvette Nelson.
On December 30, 2010, Nelson was booked in the Harris County Jail, Houston, Tx. She is charged with Capital Murder.
Nelson is currently in the Harris County Jail, Houston, Tx. and is being held without bond.

Jonathan was laid to rest on January 4, 2011. There was a beautiful Memorial Service for Jonathan in Houston, Tx at a church close to where he resided. Burial was in a beautiful cemetery, with oak trees, water fountains, statues and rose gardens, in Pearland, Tx.
Prior to moving to Texas, Jonathan lived on a farm in Missouri with his Uncle Glenn and aunt and their children. Jonathan's Uncle Glenn spoke lovingly of Jonathan at the Memorial Service.
Uncle Glenn said he was like a dad to Jonathan and loved Jonathan as if he were his son. He spoke of the beautiful memories of Jonathan when Jonathan lived with him and his family. Jonathan loved the outdoors, the farm animals, fishing, his bicycle, playing basketball, baseball, etc. He said Jonathan was all boy!
Jonathan had his entire life ahead of him until it was cut short by murder. The Pastor and Uncle Glenn said Jonathan lived life to the fullest!
The following is the Houston Police Department Press Conference on December 30, 2010 with official information regarding this heinous crime against Jonathan P. Foster.

Thank you for making sure this little boy will never be forgotten. This world needs many more like you Ann..God Bless you for all you do on behalf of Jonathan and the other children who never got a chance to live life to it's fullest.
Piper , you did an awesome job on the tribute. I have watched it several times and everytime I feel like I get to know him a little better.

I appreciate the thanks from all of you!
It was an honor, to have the privilege, of writing the article about Jonathan. It is a very sad and tragic story of an innocent, defenseless child whose young life was cut short by murder.
To burn Jonathan's body beyond recognition is the most henious act, by an alleged murderer of a child, I have heard of in the Houston area.
During the Capital Murder trial of Mona Yvette Nelson, the details of what transpired will become available.
Jonathan's murder garnered international attention. When Nelson goes to trial in this Capital Murder case, I am confident this case and the trial will be closely monitored by many.
Piper, you did an awesome job of making the beautiful video in memory of Jonathan. I play it often! I hope it will generate donations for Texas EquuSearch (TES). As Nelson's trial approaches and activity on Jonathan's thread becomes real active, we will have to post the video again. I think it will be a prime opportunity to generate donations to TES, in memory of Jonathan Paul Foster, for those who may be interested.
During Jonathan's Memorial Service on January 4, 2011, the Pastor and Jonathan's Uncle Glenn, spoke of how Jonathan always helped people . . . . . Jonathan always wanted to help others. I think Jonathan would be very happy that donations, in memory of him, are made to TES.
I am very proud to be a member of Reality Chatter! It is a high quality site that clearly supports 'justice for the victims!'

On Christmas Eve, Friday – December 24th 2010, 12 year-old Jonathan Foster was abducted from an apartment in Northeast Houston. Jonathan’s family contacted Texas EquuSearch two days later on Sunday – December 26th 2010. After receiving the initial call, two Texas EquuSearch members went to meet with Jonathan’s family and quickly determined that something bad had most likely happened to Jonathan. A search call-out was immediately activated. After two days of searching, a citizen found Jonathan’s badly burned remains lying in a ditch several miles away from where he had been last seen. The remains were later identified as Jonathan’s.
We would like to thank all of our members who came out to search for Jonathan. Many of you took time off of your jobs. Many walked away from your planned Christmas holiday vacations or family gatherings. But you all came out in a selfless act to find Jonathan. We would also like to thank the Garden Oaks Baptist Church for their kindness and opening of their doors to our searchers, Jonathan’s family, police investigators & the media for their constant coverage of this case. They never had to think twice when asked if they could help. We would also like to thank the City of Houston “Crime Victims Assistance” liaison Andy Kahan, B & W Meat Market for the donation of food for our searchers, Carnes Funeral Home for their donation of all funeral services for Jonathan, Captain Brian Goetschius of the Texas City, Texas Police Department, the Houston Fire Department Arson Bureau, H.I.S.D. Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Constable Victor Trevino & the Deputies of the Harris County Pct. 6 Constables Department that donated their time to escort the funeral procession to the cemetery. Everyone’s help was greatly appreciated.
But a very special recognition needs to go out to a very dedicated group of extraordinary professionals – ALL of the Houston Police Department investigators that were involved in the Jonathan Foster case. The Missing Persons & Homicide Divisions used their finely-tuned investigative skills and other tools in a desperate attempt to find Jonathan … and bring him home safe. But after Jonathan’s remains were found, investigators collected evidence; clearly indicating that Jonathan was most probably dead before they had ever received a report of his disappearance. All investigators on this case displayed the upmost in investigative skills and professionalism. They never tried to impress anyone … but they did unknowingly impress many people. Their ultimate goal from the start was to find Jonathan alive; and they never let-up trying. Not until his remains were positively identified. The City of Houston has a great & valuable investigative division and it should have a special day of appreciation and recognition for these investigator’s tremendous efforts and skills. We salute the investigators of the Houston Police Department and may God bless each and every one of you.
