Here's another one. It's no wonder kids are so confused today.

After a substitute teacher overheard 9-year-old Emanyea tell another student a teacher was 'cute,' school officials put him on two-day suspension for sexual harassment, WSOC TV reported.

The boy's mother, Chiquita Lockett, told the station she doesn't agree with the punishment.

"It's not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way," Lockett told WSOC TV. "So why would he be suspended for two days?"

The school's code of conduct doesn't list sexual harassment, but does mention possession of any gun, rifle, pistol, firearm, prohibited substance or assault of a school employee as grounds for long-term suspension.

No wonder the kids don't know what to do any more. We have a friend (friend of Nicole's) who was called in for a teacher's conference and she had to get off work to go. The teacher said she had a problem with her son, because he was always hugging people. The mom asked if the teacher would prefer he bring a gun to school and shoot people. This young man is one of the sweetest 14 year old boys I have ever met. If he sees someone is upset or having a problem, he asks them if a hug will help. If they say yes, he gives them a hug.

His entire family is just like my family, we always hug when we see each other, and again when we leave. I don't consider it sexual abuse at all.

This also is stupid. When I used to work in a school, one little boy, around age 8, told me he loved me. I didn't take it as anything besides he appreciated me being there.

OMG..It is really a shame that people don't know a compliment when they see one...What would have happened if the kid said the teacher was an "old hag"?
I think we all have had a crush on a teacher or two, or at least have a teacher that we remember because of their dress, make-up, hair style, classroom interactions or whateva...Howeva, that doesn't mean we want to jump their bones or make out with them...Geeze...let kids be kids...How did I ever get to live so long without getting into trouble??? I'm glad I lived my youth in the era I did...Even if my grandson says it was the "dark ages".

LOL, Estee, then you didn't go to my high school......

Jules...It was more like the lecherous dean of boys trying to get into the girls pants, and cornering them wheneva he had a chance...Can't believe he made it through his Pinellas County Schools positions without a blemish...Now that WAS sexual harassment, but back then we didn't call it that...Anyone who knew better always stayed away from him and tried to warn the newbies...

Too bad you had one of those kinds, a groper, at school. Someone like that is too common in the headlines today, but I'm surprised how many of the offenders are women, messing around with their male students.

We had a few male teachers that had enough sense to behave themselves, but they made class more enjoyable by just being there, to look at, to think about.
