FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. (WHTM) - The community is coming together to support the family of Kortne Stouffer whose been missing now for 60 days.

On Sunday afternoon a "peace walk" was held at Memorial Lake near Fort Indiantown Gap.

Participants walked a few miles around the lake and then a fundraiser was held selling t-shirts created to help raise reward money.

According to family members the walk was important and symbolic because it's where Kortne would walk her dog.

Kortne Stouffer's 'very suspicious' disappearance continues to mystify, frustrate family and friends

Police, family and friends have tried searching for Kortne Stouffer on foot, by horseback and with dogs. They have used prayers and psychics. They have plastered her photo in stores, on utility poles and signs and pleaded for information on national TV.

But more than two months after the 21-year-old woman, described by her parents as a flower child, mysteriously disappeared from her Palmyra apartment July 29, they still have no idea where she is or what happened to her.

It’s frustrating for the family, friend Matthew Scott said.

“You wouldn’t think in this day and age someone could just disappear,” he said. “The police aren’t giving much feedback. That’s a tactic, but it’s also frustrating.”

After Two Months Family Continues Search For Missing Kortne Stouffer

PALMYRA, LEBANON COUNTY— Family, friends and police have been searching for over two months for 21- year old Kortne Stouffer. Her mom is asking anyone with information to please come forward. "She just never went longer than two days without contacting somebody. It's been 77 days and it's been so hard," says Wendy Stouffer. "If anybody can remember anything, if they remember seeing Kortne or hearing her or heard people talking any little bit of information, anything will help us find her. I think something happened to her and I think someone knows, I know someone knows."

Rumors, criticism surround Kortne Stouffer case

PALMYRA, Pa. (WHTM) - About once a week, Scott Stouffer gets a call. On the other end of the receiver is someone filling him in on the latest rumor regarding his 21-year-old daughter, Kortne. Those rumors, however, have been wearing on him and his family.

"(We're) no closer to having our daughter back," Stouffer said.

All the while an investigation has been ongoing. There has been a search involving local and state officials, who have also pulled in FBI resources.

So where are investigators with the case now? Stouffer said they're back to square one.

Six months later, Kortne Stouffer still missing

Six months have passed, and Lebanon County detectives and Palmyra police are continuing their search for Kortne Stouffer, a Palmyra woman who has been missing since late July.

Stouffer vanished from her apartment between 3:45 and 7:30 a.m. on July 29. She was last seen officially when a Palmyra police officer responded to her apartment for a disturbance at 3:12 a.m. The officer returned for another call at 4:12 a.m., but nobody answered the door this time.

A man who spent the night at Kortne's apartment told her father he did not see or hear anything. When he awoke about 7:30 a.m. that day and did not see Kortne, he left, he told police. When Kortne did not show up for work the next day, her mother, Wendy, went to her apartment. She found the door unlocked, her wallet and cellphone inside and her car parked outside. But Kortne was not there.

JMOO I don't understand the logic behind Police not being able to forcibly enter a premises when they have been called to a domestic dispute or told of a criminal activity inside a property. I am certain that there are cases where there would be malicious calls that would be no legal reason to enter... however, if the person calling would be responsible for the damage incurred this could be minimized.

In this case they were at the home earlier and were in contact with the people inside. Had they broken down the door they may have a different outcome now!

WebpageFX Designs Website for Local "Bring Kortne Home" Initiative

(PRLEAP.COM) March 23, 2013 - CARLISLE, PA - Carlisle-based Internet marketing, web design and web development firm, WebpageFX, Inc recently designed and built a website for a local family whose daughter has been missing for eight months.

WebpageFX accepted a request from local TV station ABC 27 to assist Kortne Stouffer's family in gaining exposure for their cause, "Bring Kortne Home". ABC 27 created a TV ad which was broadcasted in Central Pennsylvania for two weeks in order to raise awareness. This ad directed viewers to the new website.

Kortne Stouffer, who is 21 years old, has been missing from Palmyra, PA since July 29, 2012. Extensive efforts to locate her have been ongoing since that day. The family is also offering a reward of $42,000 for any information that might help them locate Kortne.

One year later, family still searching for Kortne Stouffer

PALMYRA, Pa. (WHTM) - It will be a year this weekend that Kortne Stouffer disappeared from her Palmyra apartment, and although she remains lost, investigators and her family say she is not forgotten.

Stouffer went missing after spending a night out with friends July 28 in Harrisburg, where she reportedly got into a fight inside the former Hardware Bar. She returned to her apartment early the next morning with a male friend. There was another argument with neighbors, and police were twice called to her home.

When her friend woke up the next morning, he said Stouffer was gone. She has not been seen since.

"There's a lot of emptiness in the family because she hasn't been here for a lot of the family events. She missed her birthday," said Scott Stouffer, Kortne's father.

Her family would have celebrated Kortne's 22nd birthday in April, but after a year of grief, national TV appearances and search parties, they are no closer to finding her.

Investigators used a dog and sonar to plumb the depths of the lake for the missing Palmyra woman as her family says 'there's just no closure'

FORT INDIANTOWN GAP >> After five hours of searching Memorial Lake for the body of a Palmyra woman, a team from the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Investigation Unit ended its work for the day Tuesday.

The search for the body of Kortne Stouffer, who was 21 when she disappeared in July 2012, began about 9 a.m. and ended about 2 p.m. After the search, team members declined to comment on the results of the search or whether they would continue the search on another day, referring all inquiries to the Lebanon County district attorney's office.

As of Tuesday afternoon, District Attorney David Arnold had not returned phone calls or emails seeking comment.

Arnold had been under public pressure to search the lake since March 21, when Amanda Ballester of South Lebanon Township told PennLive that acquaintances had told her Stouffer was killed in her apartment and her body dumped in the lake. Ballester said she had talked with investigators and spoke again with investigators last week.

Arnold, however, has dismissed Ballester's story, citing inconsistencies each time she talked with investigators.

EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP – The cadaver dog was used only for about 30 minutes during the search for the body of a missing woman.

Meanwhile, the volunteer divers stood ready, but their services were never called upon

Four state policemen using one Jon Boat and some equipment told Scott Stouffer they had sufficiently searched for his daughter in the 85-acre Lebanon County lake in a little over five hours on Tuesday, and had found nothing. And Stouffer took them at their word.

Ballester arrived at the lake toward the end of Tuesday’s search. She said she was disappointed that the search lasted only five hours and that divers never went into the water to search for Kortne.

Qualified volunteers, including divers with New Cumberland River Rescue, lined up to assist with Tuesday’s search, but they were never called upon. In fact, no divers went into the murky water, muddied by three days of torrential rains.

Is it reasonable to think that four officers on a boat were able to “thoroughly search” the lake with the resources they had in about five hours?

DA: New investigator looking into Kortne Stouffer’s disappearance

PALMYRA, Pa. (WHTM) – Where is Kortne Stouffer? It is a question that has been haunting the missing woman’s father for three years.

“I just keep hope we are going to see her again,” Scott Stouffer said.

Kortne disappeared July 29, 2012. She was last seen at her Main Street apartment. Just days after she disappeared, family and friends searched the woods and fields near her home, but there was no sign of Kortne.

“Obviously, the more time that passes the more difficult it is, and three years is a long time, but we do not give up hope on a case ever,” Lebanon County District Attorney David Arnold said.

Arnold says a new private investigator is looking into Kortne’s disappearance.

PALMYRA – Wendy Stouffer Hammel comes to this spot weekly to straighten candles, stuffed dolls and a weathered angel figurine watching over the memorial.

Today's visit held even more significance. It marked the third anniversary of the disappearance of her daughter, Kortne Stouffer, who vanished from the apartment building Hammel and loved ones gathered in front of at 5 p.m.

The group of about seven met in the 800 block of West Main Street to release tie-dye balloons into the sky and be there for each other on an annual date that saddens most who knew her or know of her tragic story.
