Daughter Brooke missing one night...and you reported her missing
but.... Erica missing two years and not reported!!

Adopted mother says different situation... Brooke ran away with a man ...reported her missing and picked her up the next day
Erica was with her grandmother and she knows where she is...

Now the part I like... (confrontation by Dr. Phil) no you don't know where she is because if you did we could go get her!!

Casey Parsons, Erica's "adoptive parent", was a surrogate.
She took money for a baby.
Then, she called the woman and asked her if she wanted an abortion.
Later, she called the woman and told her she had miscarried.
The woman reading on internet saw Casey Parsons was offering a baby up ....said it was her sister's child and sister did not want her....
Woman contacted LE and got HER baby!

Couple are taking a lie detector test on Dr. Phil.
Results are not in yet but should be soon....

Dr. Phil:
Talking about the taking of a polygraph test...
Casey stated she was in pain;they were unable to give the test...
Casey refused to return.

The husband did take the test.
He did NOT want to wait for the results.

State/FBI were waiting at the airport and had warrants for the home...FBI ripped up the floors, walls, etc. Couple has hired an atty.
Atty is now speaking. Couple had been taking cash for the child when the child was not there; that is FRAUD.

Sandy was told that IF Erica HAD been given to Nan and disappeared from Nan's custody, then he would not be held responsible for Erica's disappearance...

Questions may not be admissible in NC state court BUT THEY ARE ALLOWED IN FED COURT>

What really struck me about this interview is that Dr. Phil asked Casey, if Erica is watching, what would you like to say to her.  Her response was, "please call".  Not, "we love you"; not "we miss you"; not "we want to make sure you're OK".

IMO, they are not the least bit interested in this child. They are only interested in trying to clear themselves.

I'm not a parent, but I can't imagine turning my child over to a woman without thoroughly checking that person out. Heck, I wouldn't even do that with a pet! So whether they turned her over to this woman, or they did something to harm her, IMO they are negligent either way.

The other interesting part of the story is they had on the phone the woman for whom Casey was a surrogate.  She said that at 6 weeks into the pregnancy, Casey called to say she had miscarried.  About 6 months into the pregnancy, the intended mother found a message online looking for them, and when she responded, she was told that Casey was, in fact, still pregnant, and was planning to either keep the baby or make money selling the child. The woman said there's no doubt in her mind that Casey was trying to make money off the pregnancy. The woman ended up getting the child that Casey gave birth to.

WARRANT: Teeth, hammer, video found during new search in missing teen case

According to the warrants, investigators seized a video tape, pieces of a vacuum cleaner, teeth, a hammer and school records.

The second set of warrants, which was released on Wednesday evening, references the initial search that was done.

"During that search, investigators failed to located any evidence of Erica Parsons still living here or any evidence that her room or personal living area still remained in the home," the warrant stated.

Investigators say the evidence in the home indicated that Casey and Sandy Parsons knew Erica would not be returning home.

In addition to finding photos and books about the death of JonBenet Ramsey inside the Parsons home, the new warrant states that investigators also found material on the "South Carolina Susan Smith case."

Actually, this case and its principals reminded me of the Tammi Smith/Elizabeth Johnson case with the missing child, Gabriel Johnson. Something about Tammi Smith repeatedly asking young/indigent mothers-to-be if they were willing to give their child over to her just reeked of potential wrong doing and the child would be the victim.

Timeline:

Nov. 19, 2011:

Erica is last seen by her family. Sandy and Casey Parsons say her biological grandmother took her to Asheville for an extended visit.

Early 2012:

Early in the new year, the Parsons say Erica told them she wasn’t coming back.

July 30, 2013:

Erica is reported missing by her 20-year-old brother. The Parsons hired an attorney a few days later.

Aug. 5, 2013:

The Rowan Count Sheriff’s Office issues a missing person’s report.

Aug. 9, 2013:

The Parsons talk to NBC Charlotte reporter Tony Burbeck. They say they did nothing wrong and they’ll tell their story to Dr. Phil.

Interesting point, Freckles. I came into that case fairly late in the game, but Tammi was a piece of work. The difference in my mind is that Tammi wanted a baby for herself; Casey Parsons seems to want to make money off children, which is far more disturbing.

Casey Parson's eyes are as dark and soulless to me as Jodi Arias'. And Sandy seems so emotionally detached. He's already saying that whatever Casey wanted, he was OK with it. I wonder if he's going to eventually throw her under the bus.

The adoptive parents of missing teen Erica Parsons are in court today for a custody review hearing on their two youngest children, who were removed from their home by the Rowan Department of Social Services.

A judge closed the hearing to the public at the request of attorneys for the Parsonses and Social Services.

Sandy and Casey Parsons’ youngest children have been placed with Casey Parsons’ mother. Social workers removed the children — a boy and girl aged 7 and 8 — July 31 after authorities began investigating the disappearance of Erica, who is now 15 years old.

Erica Parsons — a niece who the couple took in as an infant and adopted at age 2 — has been missing nearly two years, but was only reported missing on July 30 by her adoptive brother, James.

DSS did not wonder about Zahra Baker not being enrolled in school. Her last school was told they had moved to another county, so they did not question them again.

This bit of information absolutely terrified me... so then how do the "officials" even know that children exist? anything can happen and they just keep reporting... oops they turned 16 and decided no more school... Erica was missing 2 years..had the brother not reported (and it really doesn't matter his motivation) when would we find out someone was missing.. there potentially could be so many more missing people/children/babies that are never reported. I am trying to twist my brain around the shear numbers that could be "out there"

“She loves Nan,” Casey Parsons told WBTV. “I met Nan. I talked to Nan. Nan is a very good lady.”

After nearly a month of media attention about their adoptive daughter’s disappearance, Casey and Sandy Parsons are moving from their home just outside Salisbury.

A U-Haul truck arrived at their home late Tuesday morning. Shortly afterward, the family began loading it and a pickup truck with furniture and appliances, according to WCNC-TV, the Charlotte Observer’s news partner.

So much for them wanting Erica to come home.  Why would you move if you were hoping your missing daughter would contact you there?  Makes no sense unless you know she can't contact you or come home.

Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker was one of those people, watching the case unfold on his television at home.

"There are just too many holes in this story," said Swecker, who has no connection to the Erica Parsons investigation. "Even for the most hardened investigators, these are the cases that keep us up at night."

Swecker said the fact the Parsonses appeared to have packed up and moved out of their Salisbury home Tuesday is a red flag.

"It's a strange move at this point. If they are really sincere about getting Erica back, if she's out there somewhere, you would think they would stay put.  They can't get away from the FBI."

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

The Erica Parsons case has also brought unwanted attention to home schooling in North Carolina.  15-year-old Erica was home schooled and many were shocked to learn that the state had never checked her school records.  

In fact, state officials said that the only document it held regarding Erica Parsons was an "official non-public school registration record." It has raised the questions about how much oversight home schools in North Carolina really have.

Parsons attorney: Despite leaving home, family not giving up hope (Video)

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The adoptive parents of a missing 15-year-old Rowan County teen, Erica Parsons, are now living in a new city.

The Parsons spent a second day packing up a U-Haul with the rest of their items in their home.

Channel 9 reporter Kathryn Burcham asked the family’s attorney what that means if Erica returns.
