MONUMENT, Colo. - The family of a missing boy will host a benefit to raise awareness and money for the 13-year-old. Dylan Redwine went missing on Nov 19th while on a court-ordered visit to his Dad's Vallecito home.

Dylan's mother, Elaine Redwine, and 21-year-old brother, Cory Redwine, shared what life is like at home without the teen.

"When I was younger and he was born, he was always tattling on me. I grew to love him and every day I became appreciative of being a bigger brother. I really took on and loved playing that role, you know, being an older brother," said Cory.

It's been 55 days since Cory's younger brother went missing.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The first billboard asking for help finding missing Dylan Redwine is now up in Colorado Springs.

The billboard is located off Interstate 25 and Fillmore.

Dylan's family said they plan to place at least one more in the Springs.

He has been missing since Nov. 19 when he was visiting his father for Thanksgiving in the Vallecity Lake area near Bayfield, Colo.

MONUMENT, Colo.- Hundreds of people are still holding out hope that a missing Colorado boy will be found.

On Thursday night a benefit dinner was held in Monument for 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, who has been missing since Nov. 19 after arriving at his father's home in southwestern Colorado for a court-ordered visit.

Elaine Redwine’s life, this cozy thing that included a pending marriage, a new house on 2.5 acres and a job she loved at Colorado College, came to a halt on Nov. 19.

One text message from her ex-husband Mark Redwine, and her world changed forever.

Their 13-year-old son Dylan, who was visiting his father over Thanksgiving in the Vallecito area near Durgano, was missing.

Since that day, Elaine has not worked at her job as an associate director of financial aid.

The marriage to builder Mike Hall is on hold.

And the house outside of Monument that they moved into two weeks before Dylan disappeared has an empty bedroom that she never enters.

Dylan Redwine should be a household name by now, and not just throughout metropolitan Colorado Springs.

The 13-year-old Monument teen, who attended Lewis Palmer Middle School, went missing Nov. 19 while visiting his father over Thankgiving break in the Vallecito area near Durango. For the many in this area who love him, the past two months have been hell. One cannot fathom the pain and anxiety this mystery has caused Dylan’s mother, Elaine Redwine, who lives in Monument and has primary custody.

The Redwines moved into their new home just two weeks before Dylan’s disappearance. It was supposed to be a place of holiday joy — a place in which Dylan would grow up while the family built memories. Instead, it’s the house with an empty room that Dylan’s mother cannot stand to encounter.

Family members of Dylan Redwine, the 13-year-old boy who disappeared in November north of Vallecito Reservoir, plan to hold a rally Saturday in front of his father’s house.

“We’re rallying to bring more awareness to Dylan and his story and get his face out there, and try to encourage Dylan’s dad to be more a part of the search efforts,” she said.

In a phone interview Wednesday, Mark Redwine said the rally is an attempt by some to “play judge and jury.”

“I firmly believe that this is just a misguided attempt to draw attention to me when the reality of the fact is, you know, we don’t know where Dylan is at,” he said. “I have no idea where Dylan is at. I have no involvement with where Dylan is at.”

Sheriff releases details of Dylan Redwine's last known activities

The La Plata County Sheriff's office on Thursday released new details about Dylan Redwine's whereabouts the day before he disappeared.

Dylan, 13, was reported missing on Nov. 19, less than a day after he arrived in La Plata County for a visit with his father.

Mark Redwine said he last saw his son early that morning at his home in Vallecito.

Officials revealed Thursday that Dylan arrived at Durango-La Plata airport at 5:46 p.m. Nov. 18; at 7:05 p.m., he was seen at a Durango Walmart; at 7:22 p.m., he went to a Durango McDonald's; and his last text message was sent at 9:37 p.m. on Nov. 18. They hope the information will yield new information.

On Saturday, Dylan’s big brother, Cory Redwine, has called for a gathering in front of the home of his father, Mark Redwine. The rally is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday on County Road 500, north of Vallecito Reservoir

"Hey everybody so this weekend is simply a rally to put pressure on mark," Cory Redwine wrote on Team Dylan, a Facebook page. "I want it to be peaceful and certainly not be a mob. This is all to find Dylan and not to bring any negative image to the people who care about him but most of all to Dylan. We just need to put pressure on the fact that mark hasn't taken a polygraph and that no effort has been shown."

According to sources close to the investigation, both Mark Redwine and his ex-wife, Elaine Redwine, took polygraph tests shortly after their son’s disappearance on Nov. 19. Elaine Redwine allegedly passed the test, Mark Redwine’s results were reportedly inconsclusive.

The timeline is concerning. If Dylan had decided to walk to his friends, there is no text message to let his friend know he was coming that morning. No call or text on his cell phone. As suggested earlier, Dylan could have used a landline. But, wouldn't a call from a landline be included in the timeline released by LE or the friend would have told LE he received a call from Dylan? Since it was early, maybe the friend was still sleeping and did not answer the phone. However, I feel this can be excluded because NO phone record exists after 9:37pm.

About 20 people stood out in a rain-snow mix and cold temperatures Saturday morning above Vallecito Reservoir to call on Mark Redwine to be more active in the search for his son, Dylan, who has been missing since just before Thanksgiving.

In an interview, Mark Redwine took exception to the portrayal of him as disengaged from the search for his youngest son.

“I do a lot of things on my own,” said Redwine, a truck driver. Among his other activities, “every time I get (back) into Durango, I talk to other truck drivers” to have them keep fliers in their rigs, he said.

Cory Redwine said that he and his mother know just about as much now as they did at the beginning of the ordeal.

He said law enforcement has searched Mark Redwine’s house and have “gotten clues along the way,” but so far, they have not revealed anything significant to the family.

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI met recently to review strategies as well as results from forensic tests by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, according to a news release from sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Dan Bender. No details were released.

Cory Redwine said his mother is hanging in there and staying tough, but she “is having as hard of a time as anybody, but she’s ... stronger than most. I’m proud to be her son.”

He also said his relationship with Mark Redwine has been rocky, but he believes Mark has some answers.

When asked why Mark was not helping as much as people think he should, Cory Redwine said, “I think he has a part in this. I’m not sure exactly to what extent, but if your son’s really missing, most people would be doing anything they could to bring him home, not avoid the situation.”

Cory said that Mark Redwine usually is not reluctant to be out front.

“If he thinks he’s right, he’ll do everything he can to be out front. He doesn’t back down when he’s in the right,” Cory Redwine said. “He’s laid low and hasn’t really done a whole lot.”

Dylan Redwine’s family, friends raise awareness to bring missing teen home

VALLECITO LAKE, Colo. — Braving cold temperatures and a constant down pouring of snow, family and friends of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine came together Saturday to raise attention and awareness for the missing teen.

Redwine, who vanished while visiting his father over Thanksgiving break, has not been seen or heard from in over two months. Friends and private donations have raised over $50,000 towards a reward, but investigators have reported a shortage in tips and leads in recent weeks.

“I think it’s important to keep it out there about the last physical place that Dylan was supposed to be,” Dylan’s mother, Elaine Redwine, said in an interview Saturday near Durango.

Mark Redwine, who investigators have reported as being cooperative with their case, decided to leave the Vallecito Lake area this weekend to avoid confrontation with his ex-wife and others.

“There’s no reason for anybody to be pointing fingers at me,” Mark said in a phone interview with FOX 31 Denver earlier this week. “Because they want to make me the easiest target to make somebody to blame, I can’t stop them from doing that, but it doesn’t mean I have to agree with it,” he said.

Cory Redwine, the missing teen’s brother, has publically asked his father to be more involved with the search to help bring Dylan back home.

“Right now it’s just a question mark; he was last the person to see him. He hasn’t done his part in helping find Dylan,” Cory explained.

KUSA - Dylan Redwine's 14th birthday is next week, but his family is planning a vigil instead of a party. The teen disappeared Nov. 19, 2012, from the Vallecito Lake resort area in southwestern Colorado.

In an exclusive interview with 9Wants to Know, the father of the missing boy says everyone, including both parents, remains a suspect in the disappearance.

"They need to look at everybody," said Mark Redwine, who was the last known person to see Dylan.

"Dylan is not here," said Dylan's mom, Elaine Redwine, in a separate interview. "We don't know where Dylan is."

Elaine has blamed her ex-husband for losing their son.

The Redwines do have some history of family violence. Dylan's older brother Cory claimed that several years ago Mark took them.

"He took me and Dylan once or twice and would not tell us where my mom was at," Cory said.

Mark Redwine's first wife Elizabeth made similar accusations. 9Wants to Know obtained a police report from 1990. It alleges Mark failed to return their kids on time after visitation and claims he made statements about not returning the children.

La Plata County Sheriff's officials say they are aware of the old claims, and they say these kinds of things are common during custody disputes.

A 13-year-old gone without a trace is not common.

"The only possibility that we've ruled out due to the passage of time is that Dylan is a runaway," La Plata County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Bender said.

Cadaver dogs to search for missing Monument boy

An Edgewood, N.M., canine forensics organization that specializes in finding cadavers will spend a couple of weeks in the Vallecito area looking for the body of the 13-year-old Monument boy who disappeared over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The nonprofit, Special Operations Inc., K-9 Forensics, will do the search at no charge, said owner Wendy Kessinger.

“I plan to live up there for two weeks,” she said. “I’m hoping within that time we will be done, but if I have to stay up there longer, I will. This is not a one-shot deal. If he’s there, we will find him.”

It will be a hard two weeks for the Redwine family.

In all, nearly 3,000 are expected to attend, according to the Find Missing Dylan Redwine Facebook site.

More than 1,000 have signed up to attend in Monument, where Dylan lives with his mother, Elaine and her fiance, Mike Hall.

“There’s a myriad of scents that they are going to be searching for,” said Elaine. “But they are cadaver dogs as well and it is very scary and I hope they don’t find anything. Whenever cadaver dogs are looking for your child, it’s gut-wrenching, but I can’t just pretend it’s not a possibility.”

Mark Redwine also says a search dog handler from News Mexico has also offered to assist the family, free of charge. Dylan, who turns 14 years old Wednesday, disappeared from southwestern Colorado on Nov. 19, 2012.

Dylan probably didn't change clothes, but his backpack is missing? If he hitchhiked to get a ride to see his friends, would he take his backpack? He didn't text anyone that morning, yet cell service wasn't the best in that area. I cannot fathom someone abducting Dylan from his fathers home and taking the time to grab the backpack. Lash I have to agree, there is something! I really have no gut reaction to this one ... and don't know what side of the fence I sit on. There is obviously alot of animosity between Mom and Dad and a very rocky past with them. Is the older son Marks child? He seems to have focused only on making good memories with Dylan..ie the road trips for sports outings. And it seemed like Dylan was the only one making the trips. I tried to watch the interview with Mark with no preconceived ideas and then again with thinking he was involved. It doesn't work for me... I just see a man trying to be careful that the ex.. has nothing to twist. A man who really loved his son and is trying to be tough and not be emotional. I don't really get warm fuzzies from the man but don't get the run for the hills from him either.. so I don't know what to think! And he didn't seem rehearsed! He obviously is feeling some guilt with Dylan going missing while in his care... like he failed! or???? see I am unclear!

Family continues to search for Dylan Redwine: Mom's heart aches but doesn't give up hope

Family and friends gathered in Monument at Limbach Park Wednesday in a 'beams of hope' observance of Dylan Redwine's 14th birthday. Older Brother Cory, and his mother, Elaine, (black knit cap) spoke to news organizations and the crowd in continuing efforts to find the boy who has been missing since before Thanksgiving. Family members blew out candles on a cake decorated with a "Hope for Dylan" message.

Her son just turned 14 but he wasn't home to celebrate it with his family.

Dylan Redwine had a birthday on Feb. 6 but instead of having cake and opening presents with his loved ones, his family is still trying to find him after he disappeared without a trace.

The teen disappeared on Nov. 19 after going to visit his dad in Vallecito for Thanksgiving. His mom, Elaine Redwine, said when she first got the news that he was missing she thought he would be back the next day. But now it's nearly three months later and Dylan has not been found.

“I've followed all the missing people cases. I've followed the missing children, the missing women and my heart ached for them. You never think it's going to be you in that position,” Redwine cried. “When I was driving up to Durango I thought we'll get a call from one of his friends or we'll find him up in the mountains or something and when it was prolonged I knew someone else was involved because two-and-a-half months later Dylan couldn't have done this himself.”

DURANGO, Colo. — A major search for a missing Colorado teen started Monday with the help of a New Mexico group.

K-9 Forensics has set up camp in Durango and will be using cadaver dogs to search for any sign of Dylan Redwine. Redwine went missing late last year while on a court-ordered visit with his father.

K-9 Forensics mission is to give closure to families of lost loved ones. Their hope this week is to find answers for the Redwine family.

LA PLATA COUNTY — The family of a missing teenage boy from Monument returned to southwest Colorado on Sunday morning to search an area of Vallecito Lake.

Dylan Redwine, 14, vanished a week before Thanksgiving while visiting his father near Bayfield.

Directly afterward, members of the La Plata County Sheriff's Office and a dive team from New Mexico searched a portion of Vallecito Lake for Redwine.

K-9 forensic dogs picked up a human scent under the water, but dive teams discovered nothing.

DENVER (CBS4) – The parents of a missing teenager will come together next week to ask the nation to help find their son.

Dylan Redwine’s parents are divorced and admit they have their differences, but they’ll appear on Dr. Phil on Tuesday.

CBS4 has talked with Dylan’s mother Elaine and her ex-husband Mark since Dylan’s disappearance. They share custody of the teen.

Dylan disappeared in November while visiting his father in Vallecito. CBS4 talked with Mark Redwine before the taping of the show.

“My ex-wife and I both agree that Dylan’s not the kind of kid that would run away, but I also think that there’s a possibility that Dylan was torn between his parents,” Mark told CBS4.

According to court papers, they went through a very contentious divorce. I think that Dylan's disappearance while he was under his father's care makes that situation even worse.

It is so difficult for children in a divorce. It is even more stressful for them when it is contentious. Children feel they need to take sides. As children we may not like our parents ..we may see them do things to each other we don't like.. but we still feel like we owe them some loyalty and love. Dylan was very caught in the middle. It is apparent to me that from the picture of Cory above..(with the sign reading that Mark is missing) that there was evidence that the children were very aware of the undercurrents in this family.
It must have been tumultuous for them. Dylan was so young it must have been difficult to reconcile how he felt going to see his father when mother so obviously did not want him there.

Maybe I am very naive. However, I do not see that kind of vindictiveness in the father at this point that he would fight in court to have access granted just to do harm. I could be very wrong and I am not saying that he was not abusive as the court documents show... I am just saying with the limited video we have of him, I don't see it. He is either a very good actor or I am a very bad judge of character. I look forward to learning more about him in the upcoming Dr. Phil show... although that will be limited as well! Dylan Redwine Case – Parents Appear On Dr. Phil Part 2 Aired February 27. Dylan Redwine’s mother from Colorado Springs and Dylan’s father, who lives near Durango in Vallecito, appeared on the Dr. Phil Show today for part 2 in a show dedicating to spreading awareness and finding a possible break in the investigation into the disappearance of their missing son, 14-year-old Dylan Redwine. Dylan Redwine was reported missing after a visit to his father’s house over the Thanksgiving holiday. Police have found little clues and no sign of Dylan Redwine. With no suspects named in the case, Dr. Phil attempts to again find answers in day 2 of the show largely focused on the polygraph drama Dr. Phil uses to answer or re-direct questions in the case.

On the 2nd part of Dr. Phil’s coverage of the Dylan Redwine missing persons case, Cory, Dylan’s brother and son of Mark and Elaine, comes on the show and shares his true feelings of the case and his feeling toward his father. Cory seems to be a distraught but determined brother who has been trying to find Dylan, and fires off at his father for the lack of effort on his part that has been put into the case. He says “Mark is a very selfish and arrogant man, I do believe that Mark took Dylan to punish my mom and essentially hurt her. There has been two previous times when Mark has previously kidnapped me and Dylan..both those time I did feel like I was being kidnapped. I think that Mark is paying someone to keep Dylan hidden” When asked about why he feels his dad shows signs off guilt, Cory responds that “he hasn’t been to any of the benefits, he wasn’t there for Dylan’s birthday vigil, and he hasn’t helped at all with the Find Missing Dylan Redwine fund.” Dr. Phil asks Cory “that’s offensive to you?.” Cory calmly replies “very.”

Elaine Redwine just wants her son, Dylan Redwine, home and she hopes that her ex-husband had nothing to do with his disappearance but she said it is possible.

Appearing on the Dr. Phil show on Feb. 26 and 27 Elaine Redwine said that when she first heard that Dylan was missing her gut reaction was that her husband had something to do with it. Dr. Phil McGraw, a well-known mental health professional, is the host of the Dr. Phil daytime talk show.

“I do believe that Mark had something to do with Dylan's disappearance. I do believe he knows more,” Elaine Redwine said.

Elaine and Mark Redwine came face-to-face for the first time since their son went missing. She and other family members believe Mark Redwine knows more than he is letting on and that he is not doing anything to help find Dylan.

Thank you for the updates Alessandra.....I really don't know what to think at this point. But like with some of the other cases my heart sinks when I see a new posting... and I never know how I feel about "no news is good news" as that certainly does not apply to missing children..

I wanted to believe that Mark had nothing to do with this... starting to wonder!!

Dylan's father claims that he is not involved in Dylan's disappearance, but his attitude and demeanor are certainly factors that may contribute to reasonable suspicion that he has something to do with what happened to Dylan on the day he went missing.

@ Alessandra from what few interviews etc.. that we have been able to watch (since Mark is MIA at most of the events etc..) I had not seen anything that I strongly felt as being a huge indicator. He appears to be "just a good old boy" truck driver with a stinking attitude towards the ex--- he does not sound to me like he is extremely well educated... and he may have watched to many Maury Pauvich or Jerry Springer (not real and acting but presented like fact) shows to think that the Polygraph is reliable.. I am not defending Mark... just saying that I am not convinced that he harmed Dylan. They may have had a huge fight... Dylan may not even have made it to his father's ... the Walmart photo seems like Dylan is walking around on his own... I don't have any idea why Mark is acting so suspiciously. But if he did harm his son then he is a far better actor than some of the parents we have seen recently with missing children cases... but maybe that is why we don't have much media coverage... it may not be that he is working (don't know if that is why he is not there or just avoiding the rest of the family) really tough call for me... JMOO JMOO I am very uncomfortable with the family reaction ... and have not been able to get a strong gut reaction to what I think happened... I just hope that the accusation that Dylan's mom made that Mark was hiding Dylan and paying someone to take care of him is true and that Dylan is safe and happy.. although I do not believe that is the most likely ending.

Facebook supporters schedule virtual prayer vigil for missing Dylan Redwine

Supporters of a missing Colorado teenager are holding a prayer vigil on March 19.

The Facebook group is asking the community to pray for Dylan Redwine at 8 p.m. MST.

You don't have to go anywhere, just give a prayer at your own home.

"This is a virtual event," according to the Facebook page. "Light a candle and share a thought/prayer for Dylan to come home safely."

The investigation into Dylan's disappearance continues, and while some have lost hope that any sign of the boy will ever be found, many Vallecito residents are not only holding out hope, but are eagerly anticipating the spring thaw so they can resume the search.

The La Plata County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that two of its most publicized leads in the disappearance of 14-year-old Dylan Redwine failed to pan out.

Dylan has been missing since the week of Thanksgiving, when he went to Vallecito for a court-ordered visit with his father. He lives near Colorado Springs with his mother and her boyfriend.

The Sheriff's Department said a person reported seeing two boys walking on La Plata County 501 near Vallecito on Nov. 19, the day Dylan was reported missing.

"Investigators have identified and contacted these two young people and determined they have no connection to Dylan's disappearance," the Sheriff's Department said inthe statement.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Volunteers and law enforcement are hoping warmer weather will turn up new clues in the search for missing Colorado teen Dylan Redwine.

The 14-year-old disappeared from his father's Vallecito home last November during a court-ordered visit. His father Mark said he left to run some errands and when he came back, Dylan was gone.

Volunteers say they're raising money to hire teams that specialize in deep water searches. Crews have focused their search on Vallecito Reservoir near Durango.

Warming temperatures rekindle Redwine search

Investigators are taking advantage of warmer temperatures today to search the Vallecito Reservoir shoreline for new clues in the disappearance of Dylan Redwine, the teenage boy who went missing last November.

Law enforcement officials have no new tips or discoveries in the case; rather, they are rechecking areas where search dogs picked up a scent late last year, said Dan Bender, spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators were walking parts of the shoreline, he said. No boats or dogs are being used in today’s search, Bender said.

Search continuing on lake for missing boy

Sheriff's investigators, 12 Upper Pine Fire responders, and a La Plata County Road and Bridge backhoe were at Middle Mountain Campground on the back side of Vallecito reservoir Tuesday in the ongoing search for Dylan Redwine.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Bender said from the site Tuesday afternoon, "It's one of the areas where (search) dogs alerted. It's right on the shore, and the water level is rising."

The Tuesday search was on the shore and just off-shore. Upper Pine Fire responders put a temporary coffer dam around the location and pumped water out, Bender said.

The backhoe was in case any tree stumps needed to be removed, he said. Investigators hoped to be finished at that site later Tuesday, he said.
