OK, I just read this entire thread to get caught up on this case so that I can follow along with the rest of you.    

The evidence seems overwhelming even without the murder weapon.  They have so much evidence caught on surveillance video that I think it will be very hard for the defense team to convince a jury that Aaron Hernandez is not guilty.  AH sure looks guilty to me based on what has been presented so far.

I'm glad you got caught up with the information about this trial.  I agree with you, there is a lot of incriminating evidence against Hernandez. And, even though the defense lawyers managed to have some of the evidence excluded , it doesn't look good for their client.

So far the prosecution has been laying the foundation for the witnesses that will testify about the cell towers pings, the video surveillance cameras that captured the car allegedly driven by Hernandez, the DNA that was found on the blunt at the scene of the crime and on the shell casing that was found inside the rental car; Hernandez cell phone records and all other evidence that will substantiate what the prosecution has called  a "path to murder".

This is going to be a very interesting trial, I'm looking forward to discussing with you, and other RC members, any related issues.

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) -- They are sisters, born just two years apart. Now they are divided by the aisle of a courtroom.

Shayanna Jenkins sits behind her fiance, Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriot on trial for murder. Shaneah Jenkins sits with the family of Odin Lloyd, her boyfriend and the man Hernandez is accused of killing on June 17, 2013.

The sisters, who introduced the men, now have a relationship that appears fractured. The rift was on full display last week as Shaneah took the stand against Hernandez while her sister sat in the front row, supporting him.

The once-close sisters, for a time, took similar paths, according to Shaneah's testimony.

I found it interesting that the judge will not allow OL's text messages to his sister to come in as evidence.  The messages, "Did you see who I left with?" "NFL" "Just wanted to be sure you know" were sent only minutes before OL's death.  The judge agreed with the defense that the messages do not necessarily imply that OL felt threatened and has not allowed them. Why??? IMO, they most certainly imply that he felt threatened.  Why else would he send these messages to his sister at almost 3:30 in the morning?  It's not like he was trying to impress his sister that he knows someone in the NFL.  I'm sure OL's family was already well-aware that OL knew AH.  The only way the meaning behind OL's messages could have been more clear is if he had actually said, "If I don't come home alive it is because of AH".  I think these messages should have been allowed.

I think the situation between these two sisters is really sad and will forever change their relationship long after AH goes to prison to rot.

I am wondering about the immunity that was granted to Shayanna? If I understand correctly, the prosecution granted her immunity from the perjury charge in exchange for possible testimony against AH. It seems clear that Shayanna holds a wealth of information about this case; however, it does not seem likely that she will be willing to flip on AH and testify to her true knowledge and attempts to cover-up the crime. So, I'm not sure what the prosecution expects/hopes to gain from granting Shayanna immunity. Do any of you have additional information or insight on this matter?

When Shaneah Jenkins testified, she was questioned by the prosecutor about an old car parked at Hernandez house in the two car garage, in my opinion, it was an allusion to the semi-automatic rifle that was found inside a Toyota Camry that was part of the search of his house. Hernandez was also charged with illegal possession of guns and ammunition.

The prosecution argued that the text messages Odin sent to his sister where the proof that he feared his life was in imminent danger and wanted his sister to know who he was with, the defense argued against the admissibility of the texts and said they were not evidence that Lloyd knew that he was about to die. The  judge said that the prosecution didn't meet the burden of proof by the preponderance of the evidence.  It was actually a small victory for the defense because the texts were very damning evidence.
