David and Nicole's condo had 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, 924 sq ft with an attached garage according to Zillow.
The condo located at 15415 35th Ave W c105 which I would assume is next door to the Pietz condo is for sale.

There are pictures of all the rooms at these sites and more information on the condo unit.
I can not figure out where the garage is supposed to be....the picture shown with the listing for c105 doesn't even look like the same style of architecture for the front of the building but all the listings say attached garage for those units. The patio picture also appears to be part of a different style of architecture.

This site has a bird's eye view of the condo complex.
The garages for the first floor condos such as the Pietz' condo appear to be to the right side of each of the condo buildings. C306 which is the top floor of the Pietz condo building is also listed for sale and that condo only gets a covered parking spot as does the second floor units.

Despite the listings that say attached garage I don't see that it's possible. So no matter what he would have had to get her body across an open space....that suitcase is looking likely.

I've been looking at them, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate them.
I did a partial transcript of Mr. Pickel's testimony talking about the distances from the condo to the parking space--but it is confusing.
From the pictures, it looks like they did not have a carport 15, 20, or 25 feet from their front door.
Anyway, here is the transcript, but I'll make an additional comment about this, too. (I enclosed some of the transcript in the spoiler, just because it was so long.)

Pickel: To the best of my memory, the garage—facing their unit—was to the right in the 6 or 7 unit garage; directly to the right of their complex.
Defense: And so in order to get from their unit to either the garage or the carport, you would have to exit the condo unit. Correct?
Pickel: Correct.
Defense: And walk outside across either grass or driveway area, to get to either one of those.
Pickel: Correct.
Defense: And would you estimate that, say, the distance from the Pietz’ condo to either the garage or the carport was, say, at least 50 or 75 feet?
Pickel: Yes.
Defense: Okay. How far do you think it was?
Pickel: It was no more—if it’s the garage area I remember, it was not more than 50 feet, maximum.
Defense: Okay. The carport would have been further away than that?
Pickel: It could have been, yes.
Defense: Okay. And the condo unit—well, I guess the parking lot area specifically, is what I’m asking about—there were lights in the parking lot and driveway area.
Pickel: Correct.
Defense: And those lights were operable at the time—in February of 2006.
Pickel: Yes.
Defense: That would be probably one of those important things to have if you are selling condos to new owners.
Pickel: Yes, but I’ll qualify—during our renovation we also did new lighting in the carports; new lighting in parking areas. At a specific time were they always lit—I can’t say that they were. We would have down times, in lighting; or, occasionally, we did temporary lighting.
Defense: But you don’t have any reason to believe they weren’t working...
Pickel: No.
Defense: ...in January of 2006.
Pickel: Correct.

Prosecution: How long did it take before the lighting was put back into place, or before it was working again—the lighting in the outside areas?
Pickel: I can’t recall.
Prosecution: It took a while, though?
Pickel: Yes.
Prosecution: Okay. The car port areas were—how many feet would you say, approximately, from the front doors of the condos.
Pickel: Of that unit they were directly in front. So, 25—20 feet from the front door.
Prosecution: 15 or 20 feet?
Pickel: Yes.
Prosecution: Okay. And was there landscaping between the apartment and the carport—low bushes?
Pickel: At that specific time, we were probably right in the middle of putting new landscaping in.
Prosecution: Okay. So would someone be able to back up their car into the carport area?
Pickel: Oh, yes.
Prosecution: And be 15 feet from the apartment?
Pickel: Mmhmm. (Nods head yes.)
Prosecution: Okay, thank you. I don’t have anything else.

Pickel: It was directly in front; and it is a very short walk to the front door from the carports, I believe, on that unit.

Pickel: Probably slightly farther.
Defense: Okay.
Pickel: If my memory is right.

If that map showing the actual location of the condo is correct--and I believe it is--Pickel was correct when he said their parking space was uncovered. That is all i'm seeing in the front of the condo--if I'm seeing things correctly.

Now, the prosecutor made the point that the landscaping wasn't done at the time; so, it's possible he could have backed the Jetta up within 15 feet of the front door.
Another interesting thing mentioned by the prosecution is that the outside lights may not have been working.
It would have been risky, but he may have been brazen enough to do it. (With her in a suitcase, or even a large duffel bag.)

Below is a YouTube video showing some of the grounds and amenities of the Brio condo. (Also from one of Ishi's links.)
At approximately the 00:41 minute mark of the video, it shows a vehicle backing out of one of the garages and also pans to that particular person's uncovered parking spot. I believe this is for sale of condo C105. (The Pietz' condo was C106.)
Following is a screen shot from that video. I thought it gives a pretty good idea of the distance between the condos and the carports. Even though they most likely did not have a carport, the uncovered parking spaces are probably just as close to the condos.

You know I just watched the prosecution closing remarks again and watched the jury leave and what we see when they leave is just the front row of the jury apparently so the second row of jurors must come in behind the camera man and have their own set of steps up to the jury box.

It's all gone quite now, and the feed has gone black.
I'm hoping HLN might announce when they come back with a verdict.

If you scroll down a ways, you should see a tweet where she said that the judge had decided that the jury will not deliberate on Friday.
It might be a coincidence, but I think we are going to have a verdict soon.
Maybe before their lunch. I think it's about ten minutes to ten, their time, right now.
I'm pretty nervous about this.

I'm going to try to leave the stream up. Right now it is showing a picture of the city, but that is good because it means the feed is active.
As soon as there is any activity in the courtroom it should switch to the courtroom. Once the sound comes on, I should be able to hear it if I'm away from my computer.
That's my hope, anyway.
My biggest worry is that my feed will freeze and I won't know it, but I plan to check often.

I'm starting to get very worried, now. I believe they will be done for the day at about 4:00 pm, no later than 4:30 pm.That leaves us with an hour and a half to two hours, before the jury will leave for a long weekend.

She said in her video, and she also tweeted it earlier that Nicole's mom and sister were surprised, too; and now they are a little concerned.
I don't know how to take this, really. I have so much faith in the state's case that I'm staying positive, but I'm uneasy, too.

Thank you for the update, Nan! I thought the courts would be closed for Columbus Day on Monday but apparently not since they keep saying the jury will be back in deliberations Monday.

Don't you think the Judge left it up to the jury if they wanted to continue deliberations on Monday, and not wait till Tuesday? I'm sure they want to get to the end of this trial. I know I would have picked to work on Monday.

Yes, I agree. Apparently it is a holiday, though. (Columbus Day) I read at W/S that it is mostly a holiday for the banks in WA, so they don't think it is a particularly big deal for the courthouse to be open.

Our courts are open Monday, even traffic court. As backed up as the courts are, it would have to be a really big Holiday to close them here. I don't know why they bother though, they seem to just give a slap on the wrist, and let them go, to continue to do the same things.

The jury heard the voice mail messages left on Nicole's phone on the 28th, plus the interview that the defendant gave to law enforcement.
Now they are back to deliberations, and are allowed coffee!
