Hmmm...now I wonder if Desiree's trip to Roseburg to harass Terri is because she fears there will be no more funding toward finding her son so she must take things in her own hands.

FBI will dedicate up to 6 agents to help investigate the Kyron Horman disappearance

The FBI will be dedicating up to six agents to help with the criminal investigation into the disappearance of Kyron Horman, following a recent review of the local task force's nearly nine-month investigation by FBI agents who specialize in child abduction cases.

Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton, who is scheduled to update county commissioners this morning, said the multi-agency task force will proceed at least through June without any requests for more money.

"We're not going to back off on this investigation," Staton said Wednesday. "We may not have it solved, and it may not be to the satisfaction of some, but the fact is they're making progress."

The investigation, which has cost the sheriff's office $1.42 million, has turned up no physical evidence of the 7-year-old boy who was last seen June 4 at Skyline School.

Six agents seems like alot on this case. I wonder if it is because of the statement that we would be (paraphrasing here, since my mind is blank to the actual words) shocked by what the investigation has led to.

What a pity it is taking so long...and no concrete leads...Poor kid, it's as though he was beamed up to Starship Enterprise along with Haleigh...

I agree Estee. I hold my breath everytime I see a new post about Kyron, hoping to read something new about Kyron's whereabouts.

While the inquiry has continued to focus on Terri Horman and several of her close friends or associates, the task force must be careful to run down other potential leads, such as contacting and interviewing all sexual offenders living around the Skyline School or Kyron's home.

"Anything that we neglect to look into are potentials in a prosecution as something that you can poke a hole through,'' Staton said. "So we can't be remiss in looking at all the leads."

Investigators have identified more than 490 people who were at the school June 4, as well as the 54 vehicles parked on the campus that day, Staton said. To do that, they had to examine photographs taken at the school during the science fair, sometimes checking the license plates of cars appearing in the background.

"The actual account of everyone and everything that was on that campus that day, we now know," he said.

Since Kyron was reported missing, more than 4,318 investigative leads have been developed. Detectives have completed more than 3,500 interviews and filled 66 four-inch binders. They've contacted 124 sex offenders, but the sheriff would not comment on whether they've been excluded as suspects.

"I'm disappointed this isn't over with. I'm disappointed we haven't found this young man," Staton said. "I don't put the blame on our investigators...Everybody who has been involved in this has worked on this case as diligently as possible. We know more about what potentially did happen than we ever did in the past. The biggest hope is we would have found him."

Above bolded by me. These statements are confusing to me. If they've accounted for everyone and everything at the school that day and they potentially know what happened, why aren't charges being brought forth on someone? What is the hold up and what information are they still searching for, besides actually finding Kyron.

By mid-June, if there's been no arrest, Staton said he will review the task force's progress once again. "One thing I can assure you, if this case stagnates and there's nothing more coming in, we'll have to take a different approach."

His last statement is even more confusing.

Search crew continues looking for Kyron Horman near North Plains area

As part of an ongoing investigation, about 75 volunteer search and rescue members on Saturday looked for Kyron Horman in a region four miles north of North Plains.


The mission continued a nine-month search for the Portland schoolboy, who has been missing since June. The search occurred six days after police said there were no immediate plans to look for the boy.

A crew of volunteers from local sheriff's offices and independent search and rescue groups scoured the area at Northwest Skyline Boulevard and Northwest Moreland Road. The group began their search at 7 a.m. and ended at 5 p.m.

At least they are still searching, apparently they searched this same area in January.

Where is Kyron?

Every time I see that Kyron's topic has been updated, my heart stops and I hope against hope it'll be the message saying this sweet innocent boy has been found. Please let the day be soon.....

Ya know, I've always held out the belief or hope that Kyron's main caregiver, Terri Horman, would not have harmed him. But I believe I have changed my mind.

None of it makes any sense, I still have issues with the school but for Terri not seeing her little girl all this time just doesn't sit right with me.

I agree with you, Piper. Though I doubted her innocence from the beginning, I kept hoping to be proven wrong. But to not fight for Little K because she wants to 'preserve her freedom' and not have to answer question in court .. that says a lot without her having to say a thing.

Horman divorce hearing scheduled for Thursday canceled, postponed for another three months

The Multnomah County judge handling the pending divorce case between Kaine Horman and Terri Moulton Horman has canceled a scheduled Thursday hearing and will delay it for another three months.

Kaine Horman, the father of missing Kyron Horman, filed for divorce shortly after his son disappeared from Skyline School June 4 and law enforcement authorities informed him they had learned that his wife allegedly had tried to solicit a landscaper to kill him about six months before Kyron's disappearance.

In October, Terri Horman's lawyers convinced a judge to delay the divorce proceedings for 90 days, arguing that the divorce case should not continue while an ongoing criminal investigation proceeds into Kyron's disappearance.

A hearing scheduled for January was postponed until the spring. The court then set aside nine hours for a March 31 hearing, but that hearing has been delayed for another three months, with no new date agreed to as of yet, according to the judge's clerk.


Terri Horman's divorce attorney Peter Bunch argued last fall that a parallel civil divorce case, while the criminal investigation proceeds into Kyron's disappearance from Skyline School, would jeopardize Terri Horman's Fifth Amendment rights not to incriminate herself. Bunch argued that law enforcement are trying to obtain discovery through the civil proceeding for the ongoing criminal case.

Multnomah County Judge Keith Meisenheimer ruled in October that there's "substantial overlap of evidence" between the divorce case and the criminal inquiry and parallel proceedings could create a discovery nightmare. But he said he also had to balance Terri Horman's constitutional rights with Kaine Horman's right to a prompt resolution of custody, parenting, property and financial matters.

In June, the RO will be up and then it's a whole different ball game. In order to renew the RO and obtain full custody of Kiara, Kaine will have to show proof that Terri is guilty of any of the claims he has brought before the court. If he can't do that, then the Judge may choose to drop a renewal of the RO. This would mean that Terri has a fighting chance of seeing her daughter again.

That's good to know, Elphie. It's perplexing to say the least. The landscaper has just dropped off the face of the earth, hasn't he. At least I haven't seen or read anything else about him. The entire situation just bumfuzzles me. It's hard to believe come June that Kyron will be missing an entire year with no leads, nothing. In my mind, I still hold the school's lack of procedures and security responsible for a child being able to be taken from inside the school and his absence going unnoticed, whether it was Terri, another school parent, an older student or a perp that showed up out of the blue.

For weeks after his son disappeared, Kaine Horman kept Kyron's door closed, ensuring that his young daughter didn't play with the toys and that the bedroom stayed intact, ready to welcome him home.

But nearly a year has passed since June 4, when Kyron was last seen at Skyline School. The bedroom door is now open. All of the furniture that belonged to Horman's estranged wife, Terri Moulton Horman, is gone. His daughter, Kiara, now 2, sometimes wanders in and picks things up.

"At some point you have to come to the conclusion that what's happened has happened and whether I distance myself from his stuff or immerse myself in it, it doesn't change what's happened," Horman says. "So why make a shrine out of it? Why protect it?"

I can't imagine standing in his shoes. I sure wish something would happen in this case. It's hard to believe it's been a year.

This is the only case where I know where I was the day that Kyron went missing. I won't forget the day for completely different reasons and it is hard because their very unhappy anniversary is a day of celebration in our home.

Such a sweet and completely innocent boy who grabbed hundreds of thousands of hearts ... except for the ones who could bring him any harm. It's been almost a year and I hope every day that today will be the day he is found and that justice is just around the corner.

I can't begin to imagine what Kaine and Desiree have been going through. He's lost 40 pounds, she's lost 30 and they've gained very few answers but much heartache.

My heart breaks for them all.

Kaine Horman Gets Restraining Order Extension

PORTLAND, Ore. -

Kyron Horman's father has been given an extension on his restraining order against his estranged wife.

A judge granted a three-month extension for Kaine Horman against Terri Horman.

Her lawyers did not object to the filing.

'We need to find Kyron, and that's what this is all about'

SEATTLE -- Seventeen months have passed since Kyron Horman vanished from his elementary school in Oregon.

Since then, detectives have invested more than 26,000 hours investigating the boy's disappearance and conducted more than 3,500 interviews. The boy's stepmother still remains under intense scrutiny, but no arrests have been made in the case.

"It's a little bit of mourning for loss everyday," said the boy's father, Kaine Horman. "(It is the) second time since he's been missing that we celebrated a birthday without him, and it's been really tough."

I don’t doubt that Mr. Houze is taking great interest in these allegations against Sheriff Staton. Sheriff Staton is heading up the investigation of Kyron Horman and this calls his character and ethics into question.

After Elliott had raised safety concerns about Staton's request to take his daughter's elementary school class on a sheriff's boat ride, Staton said he cancelled that ride and temporarily suspended such rides. Staton said those types of rides had occurred in the past.

Kaine Horman will not be at work Monday on the second anniversary of the disappearance of his son Kyron Horman.

He's reserving the day for media interviews about his son, who was last seen June 4, 2010. Over the past two years, Horman has spent countless hours reminding the public that his son is missing and that he's focused on finding him. The latest event was held Saturday, with a Run for Kyron at Cook's Park in Tigard.

From Peter Hyatt's "Statement Analysis" website, on a post made on Friday:

In an attempt to get a statement from her, she was contacted via phone by a journalist, where a nervous and talkative Terri Horman did not wait for the journalist to introduce himself, instead, believing that she was talking to her attorney, rambled off about her fears about Kyron's body being discovered, hung up, and drove to Sauvie island, which has been the concentration of the searches, to move the body once more.

At the time, Terri Horman may have felt the walls were caving in on her. She had done the acting job of the concerned parent, posing for the camera, trying to appear upset, even while it appeared that investigators were stripping away her facade, word by word as her story did not add up.

As soon as police told the family that Horman had failed her polygraph, she quickly contacted an attorney to defend her, stopped speaking to police, and began the campaign of silence to conceal what most believe is her deliberate and hideous destruction of a boy she resented terribly, and the husband of whom she wished to inflict pain worse than death upon.

Terri Horman has remained silent ever since.

I was gobsmacked to see that statement made by Peter, and his further comments made to support it. I can't imagine the Willamette Weekly or Oregonian sitting on a scoop like that for a full two years!

Has anyone heard more about this and/or can you point me at some sort of documentation? Again, I'm assuming this is an old hat rumor that I've just failed to noticed until now...

Browncoat, I've been following Kyron's story since July 2010, and this is the first time I've heard that story.

For starters, people don't tell their lawyers the truth until the evidence is shoved in their faces. Even if Terri Horman is responsible, she hasn't shared that info with Houze.

As far as the rest of Peter Hyatt's story, it sounds like nonsense to me. She thought she was talking to her lawyer when she was talking to a journalist instead? Ridiculous.

The father of Kyron Horman is having a busy summer, participating in a variety of events to remind people that his son is still missing more than two years after his disappearance.

This weekend Kaine Horman will be at Big Al's in Vancouver for Kyron's Klassic Car Show. The event, a benefit for the Kyron Horman Foundation, takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 16615 S.E. 18th St. in Vancouver. It will include family friendly activities, with music, prizes and games for children.

Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Henry Kantor said today that a hearing scheduled for Tuesday on Terri Moulton Horman's motion to contest her estranged husband's renewal of a restraining order has been canceled.

KGW local news just said that Desiree Young is not giving up, but she is dropping the civil lawsuit against Terri Horman.  They also said that a major witness is now cooperating.  Apparently, DeDe Spicher (sp?) is now cooperating and has testified in front of the grand jury.  She may have received a deal for immunity in exchange for her testimony.  This is HUGE news, and could break the case!

In related developments, a restraining order that Kaine Horman had renewed in court last month against Terri Horman for one year will be dismissed as of Thursday.

Terri Horman's lawyers pressed for the first time to contest it this year, and sent subpoenas last month to Kaine Horman and to sheriff's Deputy Bobby O'Donnell, one of the lead investigators into Kyron's disappearance. The subpoenas also sought any investigative documents that may have been provided to Kaine Horman that would support his allegations that Terri Horman "is being investigated by law enforcement for involvement in violent crimes."

Multnomah County prosecutors, the county's attorneys, Kaine Horman's lawyer and O'Donnell moved to quash the subpoenas, arguing that any testimony by investigators or disclosure of evidence would jeopardize the criminal inquiry. ETA:  DeDe Spicher, Terri Horman's friend, recently testified before a grand jury in the case, according to Rosenthal.

In place of the restraining order, a temporary no-contact order will go into effect between Kaine Horman and Terri Horman as their divorce proceeding proceeds.
