Bianca Lily Jones: Toddler missing after carjacking



Bianca Jones, 2, was strapped into her car seat of her dads car when it was carjacked.

Bianca's dad, Deondre Lane was carjacked at gunpoint about 9:45 a.m. Friday morning near Interstate 75 and East Grand Blvd., in New Center area of Detroit, Michigan. A male suspect drove away with the car and Bianca in the back seat.

The car was found shortly afterwards around 10:15 a.m., in an alley off Bush between Philadelphia and Euclid with the car seat still inside, but Bianca was gone.

Bianca is wearing a purple coat, pink tights and pink shoes. She has brown hair that is braided and brown eyes and it about 25 pounds

The suspect is light-skinned African-American man about 25-30 yeas old, 6 feet tall, 190 pounds.

Search goes on for toddler missing after father reports car stolen



A newly donated $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the return of 2-year-old Bianca Lily Jones, who reportedly was kidnapped during a carjacking earlier in the day near Detroit's New Center area.

Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. announced the award and provided a composite sketch of one of the two suspects in Bianca's disappearance at a news conference late Friday.

"We're in this for the long haul," Godbee said. "Finding the little girl is primary."

He said the FBI, Michigan State Police and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office were conducting, along with family friends, a door-to-door, street-by-street search for Bianca.

According to police, the girl's father, Deandre Lane, 32, said he was in his silver Mercury Grand Marquis with his daughter in the back when he was carjacked in the area of East Grand Boulevard and Brush around 9:45 a.m.

Within 10 minutes, the car was found at Beaubien and Philadelphia, less than a mile from where the car was stolen -- but the child was gone, police said. Police towed the car about 2 p.m.

According to Lane, two men told him there was a problem with his tail light and when he got out of his car to look, he was carjacked.

Lane's 2004 silver Mercury Grand Marquis was recovered later on Beaubien between Euclid and Philadelphia, but Bianca was gone.

Bianca's great uncle got this story from Lane.

"They pulled the gun out and he was saying 'my baby's in the car.' And they said, 'Hey man, step back. Get out of the way,' said Oliver Nevers. "They just took the car and drove it off."

Nevers explained he was skeptical from the start. He said Lane's account of the carjacking kept changing.

"He [was] having so many different stories … I don't know what to believe now," Nevers told us. "I know him ... well. He [has] been in our family for years, even ever since junior high."

Lane is known to police. He is a felon convicted of possession of cocaine, possession stolen property and a felon in possession of a firearm.

Early on in the Amber Alert, Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said he was aware of conflicting stories and criminal convictions, but warned everyone not to lose sight of the objective.

It's now reported that D'Andre Lane failed a lie detector test administered by investigators. This is a disappointing turn of events. It seemed as though the father was being truthful when little Bianca was reported abducted. There were even composite sketches of the alleged perpetrators of the abduction and carjacking.

In the video above with NG, @ about 10:10, it looks like Bianca is sitting inside a cabinet under the sink. Maybe she injested something that was stored there and died and the dad got scared..... We always kept child-proof locks on our cabinet doors when we had wee ones running around.

the mom in the video sounds like shes in denial... I would be too if I thought my ex killed our baby (lucky for me my baby daddy is my awesome husband!!!). If it was the dad that made this little one "disappear" you know its not the first time the baby has been abused. People don't normally just kill there kids without some kind if history

Bianca Jones: At hearing on murder, abuse charges, tot's sister says dad hit her

The 8-year-old sister of Bianca Jones testified Tuesday that her father, D'Andre Lane, hit her after she wet the bed and then stuffed the panties she had on into her mouth as part of her punishment.

"It was the time I thought I was on the toilet, but I was in the bed," the 8-year-old said about the incident. "He was holding them (the panties) in my face, then put them underneath my tongue and it hurt."

The testimony came after the girl told the court about what she said happened at Lane's house the morning of Dec. 2, the day 2-year-old Bianca disappeared.

Lane, in a five-hour interview, said his toddler, Bianca Jones, hadn't slept well after she fell out of bed about 1 a.m. Earlier, he'd used the stick to discipline her during potty-training.

OMG... hitting a child who can't stay awake because of the abuse she suffered earlier!

Lane's roommate, Lisa Dungey, testified she returned home early Dec. 2 after spending the night away and saw Bianca and another one of Lane's daughters sleeping in bed. Dungey said she works at a school and is trained to report abuse, but never witnessed any in her home.

Maybe I'm just lazy when it comes to potty training. Raised four of my own, and am involved in the lives of my grands and great grands. Potty training is urging a child to use the potty. Each child learns to recognize the need for the potty at their own pace. Using the potty is always praised, accidents are viewed sh UH Oh.. didn't make it... OK, lets get changed. Punishment.. NEVER.. Some kids have physical issues that prevent them from recognizing the need to go until it is too late. I guess this guy never wet himself... I hope at some point he is paralyzed with fear to the point he soaks himself..

Marica, I agree. We always made a big praise deal out of going potty. Kids feel good about themselves when they do something correctly, and they are recognized/praised for it. We also did the old reward system. If they did pee, they got 1 M&M, if they did poo, they got 2 M&Ms. If they did both, they naturally asked for 3 M&Ms. If they had an accident, they got changed and no M&Ms. Then they tried harder the next time, just to get those M&Ms.

I just don't get it. So many people expect their kids to act like they are five years older than they are, treat them like they are five years younger... These kids have no idea what they are supposed to do. I didn't get an owner manual when my kids were born, but somehow I knew what to do. Common sense and logic.. what happened to those qualities in people?

But I think it's because I had eye surgery when I was 3 and sharp or odd things around the eyes have always had that effect on me.

I am so sorry my hubby has the same reaction! however, there are days I wish I really could just zip them closed and not see the ugly that surrounds us! There are just some things parents shouldn't do to their children!

Oh, don't be sorry. It's actually a cool avatar with a significant meaning. I agree with you, there are some horrible monster parents out there. Maybe we can sew zippers onto their eyes, that would teach them! :)

Lane's trial is expected to begin June 5.

my daughter was lllllllate to finally get the potty thing. 3 yrs old - and it nearly killed me. But I finally think I figured it out -- those new diapers these days are so damn comfortable and designed to be so efficient that they don't make it very uncomfortable for the child - enough so that would make them want to get out of the diapers. They just don't care - no big deal to them. Back when I was in diapers, they weren't efficient so it would be *very* uncomfortable. I wanted those things off PRONTO.

Only problem is that when kids get bigger, so do their bladders and they can release far more liquid than a diaper can hold at one time. My kiddo had TONS of accidents and it was very testing for me. But eventually one summer I just took them off and let her run around outside in a swimsuit all day with nothing else on. She could "feel" when she used potty that way and she did no harm out in the grass -- and within 2 weeks she started equating that oncoming feeling with the need to get onto a potty.

I'm thinking you may be right. Great grand daughter is going on three and she, like your daughter, hasn't shown any interest in using the potty. Thinking Mommy may be in for a run for her money with this one. She is a bit stubborn..
BUT, she comes by that quite naturally. So glad I am not having to deal with this one.

Detroit — A canine expert whose dog allegedly detected a cadaver scent in the home of a missing toddler will be allowed to testify at the murder trial of the girl's father, a judge ruled Friday.

Wayne County Circuit Judge Vonda R. Evans made the ruling after attorneys for D'Andre Lane spent more than two hours trying to discredit the relatively new scientific method. Lane is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse in the death of his 2-year-old daughter, Bianca Jones

"I believe the evidence offered is sufficient to go forward. The people should be allowed to demonstrate to a jury that your client was implicated in this particular murder," Evans told the defense. "I think your argument is to weight as opposed to admissibility."

The court Friday also denied a defense motion to halt proceedings in the case while the state Court of Appeals evaluates efforts by Lane's attorneys to have the case tossed out. The attorneys said they also plan to appeal Friday's ruling.

Detroit — The testimony of a cadaver dog expert may prove key in the felony murder trial of a Detroit man accused of killing his toddler daughter, who remains missing.

Jury selection is slated to begin today in the Wayne County Circuit Court trial of D'Andre Lane, who is charged with felony murder and child abuse in the December disappearance of 2-year-old Bianca Jones.

Meanwhile, the girl's mother stands behind the father of seven and is holding out hope that her daughter is alive.

Lane faces mandatory life in prison if convicted in the case that relies on circumstantial evidence, including a cadaver-detecting FBI dog.

"The dog may be the star of the show in this case," said legal analyst Charlie Langton. "That makes it challenging for both sides."
