Recent graduate Zoe Ripple, 21, was unarmed and intoxicated when she entered the multimillion dollar home of Doreen Orion and Timothy Justice through an unlocked screen door on Wednesday night, and she was shot in the hip upon entering their bedroom. (ABC News)

The couple called 911 after Ripple walked into their bedroom, they screamed at her to leave, and then fired a single shot at her, which hit her in the hip, when she continued to walk into the room.
Her blood alcohol level was three times the legal level, according to police. Ripple was fine after being shot, though she seemed "stoned," as Orion told 911 dispatchers in the phone call.

Brittany was treated at Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, TX, suffering a concussion and 5 stitches on her upper lip. The assault was not reported as an assault to hospital staff, it was reported as injuries related to falling. Brittany has a history of drug abuse but it is unknown if she is under the influence at this time. Rosendo Gonzales has a history of violence toward Brittany and the couple has a history of domestic disputes between them.

Media in Abilene, Sweetwater, Lubbock and Midland/Odessa, TX. Abilene is the primary media outlet. Sweetwater has no TV station; only newspaper.

Police find missing Snyder mom and toddler, Colorado City man; theft alleged

Three Big Country people — including a toddler — last seen in Colorado City on Wednesday were found late Saturday afternoon in Hillsboro, authorities said, but the adults could be in trouble.

Authorities sought the help of the public in locating Snyder residents Brittany Hill, 23, and her daughter, Khloe Wheeler, 2, and a man believed to be Hill's boyfriend, Rosendo Gonzales Jr., 21, of Colorado City.

W.Va. police find 4 bodies in wooded area

Authorities said they believe the bodies are those of Steven Hendrix; his girlfriend, Amber Martin; and his two young children, ages 6 and 4. They had not been seen since May 19; Hendrix's daughter, Cheyenne Hendrix, had reported the four missing May 21.

Police have identified James Roy Belknap as a suspect. His whereabouts were not known late Saturday. Police said he may be operating a white Ford F-150 or a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, color unknown.

Her mother says she went missing sometime between 2:30 and 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police are searching Lucas and Monroe County.

Jennifer is 5 feet 4 inches tall, 120 pounds and was wearing all white clothes.

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) - What began as a missing child case in the City Heights area of Covington on Friday night has become a murder case in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Police say Marquita Burch has been arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in connection with the case of 1-year-old William Cunningham. Burch reported Cunningham missing prompting a five hour search by neighbors, police and fire fighters. However, during questioning police after found discrepancies in her story. Burch then recanted her story, telling Covington detectives that Cunningham died in Cincinnati on Sheehan Avenue in Hartwell.

So sad. I can not imagine hurting an innocent child. We all at one point would threaten our kids put they knew we meant business or we would have used that tone of voice. The children that are murdered look up to the only person they know that loves them and never proably see it coming or so afraid to run. My grandkids are well loves and know nobody will ever mistreat them. Wish my arms were big enough to wrap around those that have suffered so much but all I can do is think that God has his arms around them now and nobody can ever hurt them again. Prayer works but sometimes the devil gets his way.

Little Caleigh was gone, and so was family’s center

It’s been 5 weeks since a 2-year-old vanished on a Rockport beach, apparently swept away with the tide. Grief, anger, and a thread of hope have defined her family’s life since.

It was early in the season, but April 19 was a perfect beach day: deep blue skies and temperatures in the mid-60s. Allison Hammond had the day off from work, and decided to take her two young daughters, Elizabeth, 4, and Caleigh, 2, to Long Beach in Rockport, where she’d practically grown up.

At 11:30 a.m., she loaded them and her parents’ dog, Lucas, into her Toyota RAV4, arriving at the beach 10 minutes later. Parking at an empty cottage owned by her uncle, she and the girls kicked off their shoes and walked along the water’s edge with Lucas until they reached the far end of the beach. It was high tide, with a current pulling out to sea.

Pregnant Warren woman abducted, shot and set on fire

Warren police had one man in custody Saturday and were searching for a second suspect in connection with the abduction of a 22-year-old pregnant woman who was shot, set on fire and left to die.

The man in custody is a 22-year-old Warren resident who is the victim’s former boyfriend and father of her child, according to Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green. He said the woman, who is due to give birth in three weeks, is hospitalized but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

“Although we’re told he saw her being abducted, the ex-boyfriend didn’t help her, he never called 911, he said he went to bed and went to sleep,” Green said. “So we have one in custody and obviously we’re still looking for a second man.”

Police suspect a possible motive in the incident is the suspect not wanting to father another child. He has at least one child with another woman, who he lives with on Sherman Avenue.

Fighting back tears, the parents of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin stood beside the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. and relatives of Chicago area murder victims on Saturday to stress the need to end “senseless gun violence.”

“We are the voice of Trayvon Martin,” Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton said.

“He’s not here to speak for himself so we as his parents have decided instead of sitting back and not doing anything, this is what we have decided to do, to help our community and to help other parents.”

Martin's mother says a foundation has been set up in her son's honor.

Ann - Tx, This story is hinky, the mom has been on NG & the dad & his friend have been on NG after a water search. I don't understand how the story was first reported that the mother went behind a wall to retrieve a ball she & the 2 chliren had been playing with, when she came back Caleigh was gone. They have done repeated searches of water & then mom claimed the other lttle girl "claimed a bad man took Caleigh." They even did a drawing of the supposed man.

This story is conflicting, I don't know what to believe, it's terribly sad little Caleigh is gone.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Subtropical storm Beryl crept Sunday toward the Southeast U.S. coastline, threatening to churn up dangerous surf and drenching rains for a soggy close to the long Memorial Day weekend along beaches from northeast Florida to South Carolina.

Tropical storm warnings were in effect for the entire Georgia coastline, as well as parts of Florida and South Carolina, according to the National Hurricane Center. Forecasters at the center in Miami said the cluster of thunderstorms was expected to make landfall sometime Sunday night or Monday in the region.

Beryl was technically considered a "subtropical storm," but the system of thunderstorms was expected to bring winds and rain to the area regardless of its official classification.

At 2 a.m. EDT Sunday, Beryl was centered about 185 miles (300 kilometers) southeast of Charleston, S.C. The hurricane center said the system had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph (85 kph). It was moving toward the west-southwest at 7 mph (11 kph) and also was about 230 miles (370 km) east of Jacksonville, Fla.

Ann if you read this My husband said that my son in law was watching our local foxs news here in Dallas this evening and there was a story about a naked man found in a car eating a head of another person. Creepy story put my husband wanted to know how the hell this guy could flip out and do something like this. Me I do not even want to know cause that is one of those story I would just read the headline and go on to the next story.

Nene, here's a link to the story. It happened in Miami, Fl outdoors on a bikepath by a major causway. Both men were naked and when the police arrived they found one man eating the other man's face. The man whose face was being eaten is in critical condition at this time and the other man was shot by police and died at the scene. HUNTSVILLE, TX (KTRK) -- We have an update to a story we have been following about Rob Steffens, the 57-year-old Huntsville man suffering from liver cancer and donating his body to science.

Steffens died recently and his body is now at Sam Houston State University preparing to be studied.

We met Steffens two months ago.

"Some days it's worse. Some days its better," he told us. "There have been some days I can't get out of this chair."

He was desperately struggling to survive liver cancer.

Woman's body found in Cape Fear River; not believed to be missing soldier

The body of an unidentified woman was found floating in the Cape Fear River on Sunday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

A caller to 911 reported seeing the body at Campbellton Landing about 1 p.m. Fayetteville police responded initially but turned the investigation over to the Sheriff's Office.

The body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Investigators do not think it is the body of Kelli Bordeaux, a 23-year-old Fort Bragg soldier who has been missing since April.

This trial is coming up. Jury selection begins this coming Thursday, I believe. This is the story of a kid who was set on fire by three classmates. He saved his own life by jumping into a nearby swimming pool. He has spent that last few years rehabbing and has moved into the next county north of here. Middle school at the time I think.

tesstruhart, OMG! I remember this case from a couple of years ago. I saw a couple of interviews w/Brewer while he was in the hospital. He was young then, I was shocked to see he is now a young man. He really had a long road ahead of him at the time of the interviews, PLUS, his injuries were so painful, I remember he had a positive attitude, despite the pain he was in.

I was suprised to see his family bought a new house in a different county, I hope he saved some of the money for his education as the money was donated.

I wonder how many of the people who commit these horrific crimes in Florida are actually native Floridians. I lived i Tampa for 11 years and met, maybe, a dozen people who were born and grew up there. So many are from northern states and of course there are many who crossed the water.

That's a point. In this case the police said there is some drug out there that people are using (?name) that makes the body feel like its on fire on the inside. They theorize that this guy (or maybe both of them) were using it and it makes you go nuts.

Some poor eyewitness was on the news last night and he said he cannot get the scene out of his mind. The guy was ripping the other guys face off and was growling. The had to kill him to get him off the victim. The victim is in critical condition at last report.

Police: 2 Americans arrested after death of Irish woman in Tokyo hotel room

Tokyo (CNN) -- Police have detained two American men as part of an investigation into the strangling death of an Irish exchange student in Tokyo, Japanese authorities said Sunday.

Nicola Furlong, 21, was found dead in a hotel room with one of the men, according to Tokyo police.

The men were not charged in Furlong's death. Rather, police arrested the men on suspicion of improperly touching Furlong's friend in a taxi early Thursday, as the four headed back to the hotel, authorities said.

Authorities would not say how the four ended up together, but Japanese media reported that the women were attending a Nicki Minaj concert in Tokyo when they met the men and decided to accompany them to their hotel rooms.

U.S. men held over alleged rape, Irish woman's death

One of the two suspects, a 19-year-old who identified himself as a musician, was in the room with the woman when hotel staff went up to probe a complaint about loud noise.

The two men were charged with indecent assault on the student's 21-year-old female friend, who was in a separate room with the other man, but police suspect they were involved in the student's death, investigative sources said.

The woman was attending Takasaki City University of Economics in Gunma Prefecture.

She arrived with her friend in Tokyo on Wednesday afternoon, and after catching a concert at a club in Koto Ward the two men approached them and invited them to a meal, the sources said.

Japanese police believe two American men may have sexually assaulted a young Irish girl – after they murdered her.

Officers in Tokyo investigating the death of 21-year-old Nicola Furlong from County Wexford have arrested two American suspects.

They now fear Nicola was sexually assaulted after she was strangled.

Nicola died after going back to a hotel with the two men and a friend following a concert by the rapper Nicki Minaj in the Japanese capital last Wednesday night.

Reports from Japan say the Dublin University student, in the country on an exchange programme, may have had her drink spiked by the two men.

The woman killed by a hit-and-run truck driver at Union Square last week has been identified as Roxana Sorina Buta.

Last Thursday at approximately 1:30 a.m., Buta, 21, was walking east across Broadway at 14th Street, in the crosswalk and with the light, when an eastbound dump truck driver made a right turn and ran her over, according to reports. The driver continued south on Broadway.

Buta, an aspiring actress who came to the U.S. from Romania at age 11, was on her way home to East Harlem from her waitressing job. Cristina Oprea, Buta’s mother, has asked the driver to come forward. The Daily News reports that NYPD has told Oprea that there is no surveillance video of the truck.

I want to take a few minutes to let you all know about some changes that we have decided to give a try. We have never had just one single thread for a hodgepodge of subjects...but...I am willing to give the "Developing Stories" thread a shot. I have had loads of feedback on this subject. Both good & bad. I must say that it's about 50%/50% on whether to have it or not.

I am the one that took it away but I am willing to see how it goes. With everyone's help, we should be able to keep it open & running smoothly. Please don't let me down.

With that said...I have reopened the "Developing Stories" thread as well as pinned it to the top so everyone can find it right away. I will not hesitate to lock it if there are any problems with it this way.
