Heart-rending: Clint Heichel, husband of Whitney Heichel, 21, brakes down as he attempts to speak at a press conference Thursday

The husband of an Oregon barista who disappeared en route to work earlier this week sobbed uncontrollably during Thursday’s press conference and was hardly able to utter a word as the missing woman’s mother begged for her daughter’s safe return.

‘It hurts to breathe right now,’ Lorilei Ritmiller told reporters while speaking of 21-year-old Whitney Heichel. ‘But we just want to find her and we're not going to stop.’

Heichel was reported missing by her husband, Clint Heichel, after she failed to show for her 7am shift at a Starbucks in the Portland suburb of Gresham. The drive from her apartment complex to the coffee shop takes less than five minutes.

Gresham police released a timeline in the disappearance of Whitney Heichel, and hoped that anyone with information would call the tip line at (503) 618-2719.

6:45 a.m. Tuesday: Whitney Heichel left for work, which is about five minutes from her home. Her husband Clint said that was the last time he saw her.

7:00 a.m. Tuesday: Whitney failed to show up for work at the Starbucks on Northeast Burnside Street in Gresham.

9:14 a.m. Tuesday: Whitney's SUV pulled into a Shell service station on 257th and Stark, and her bank card was used.

10:00 a.m. Tuesday: Clint Heichel called 911 to report that his wife was missing.
Tuesday mid-morning: Whitney's debit card was reportedly used at two more gas stations and an ATM.

1 p.m. Tuesday: Whitney's vehicle, a 1999 black Ford Explorer with tinted taillights and Ore. license plate 189EJZ, was found outside the Walmart in Wood Village.

Wednesday: Police announced they would be focusing the search on Dodge Park and Larch Mountain, where they said Whitney's vehicle had been.

10:00 a.m. Thursday: Police revealed at a press conference they had recovered "several items" while searching Dodge Park and Larch Mountain. Her family also spoke.

5:00 p.m. Thursday: Children playing at an apartment complex at 701 257th Ave in Troutdale found Whitney Heichel's cell phone and turned it in to police.

TROUTDALE, OR (KPTV) - The search for Whitney Heichel came to a sad end Friday night.

Gresham police announced her body was discovered on Larch Mountain Friday and a man was arrested for aggravated murder.

Jonathan Holt of Gresham is charged with killing the 21-year-old Gresham woman. Investigators said he is an acquaintance of the Heichel family and lived in the same apartment complex as Whitney Heichel and her husband Clint.

Police said some of Whitney Heichel's personal items were found in a parking lot in a garbage bin at the Walmart store where her SUV was discovered with the passenger window smashed out.

More of her belongings, according to police, were discovered in another garbage bin at a nearby shopping center.

A shooting at a spa near a Brookfield, Wis., mall on Sunday left four dead--including the shooter--and four others wounded, police said. The suspected gunman, 45-year-old Radcliffe Haughton, of Brown Deer, Wis., was later found dead inside.

The shooting occurred at the Azana Spa across the street from the Brookfield Square Mall at approximately 11:15 a.m. local time, police said. Inside the spa, police found what appeared to be an improvised explosive device (IED), and a bomb squad was called in as officials worked to clear the two-story building.

Police chief: Wis. spa shooting suspect shot self

BROOKFIELD, Wis. (AP) — A man police suspected of killing three and wounding four by opening fire at a tranquil day spa was found dead Sunday afternoon following a six-hour manhunt that locked down a shopping center, country club and hospital in suburban Milwaukee.

Authorities said they believed the shooting was related to a domestic dispute. The man they identified as the suspect, Radcliffe Franklin Haughton, 45, of Brown Deer, had a restraining order against him.

Brookfield Police Chief Dan Tushaus said Haughton died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was found in the spa. Authorities initially believed Haughton had fled and spent much of Sunday looking for him.

Pennsylvania State Police have issued an amber child abduction alert for the Upper Merion Township Police Department.

Police say Saavni Venna, a 10-month-old baby, was abducted by an unknown person during a homicide. She was last seen at the Marquis Apartment complex on the 200 block of West Dekalb Pike in King of Prussia some time between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Monday.

Police described Venna as an Asian-Indian female, standing 2-foot-6 and weighing 21 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white dress with pink flowers and wearing unknown jewelry.

Police have not yet revealed any information regarding the homicide or suspect.

A neighbor in the town where a 10-month-old baby disappeared after her grandmother was murdered has put up a $30,000 reward for information on the crimes.

A woman who lives in King of Prussia, Pa., put up the money to help find Saanvi Venna, who was taken from her apartment in the town on Monday morning after her grandmother was killed, according to Upper Merion Township police

Police declined to identify the woman except to say she is of Indian descent and has been living in King of Prussia for the past 12 years.

Philly police still seeking help finding missing toddler Saanvi Venna, reward goes to $50K

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has intensified the search for a 10-month-old Indian baby who was abducted from her parents’ apartment in a Philadelphia suburb earlier this week.

Satyavathi Venna, the child’s grandmother, was found dead on the scene when authorities arrived, who then determined the child was missing and issued an Amber Alert.

The details of Satyavathi’s death are not being released as the police turn to the public for help and answers.

Alessandra_Deux - This is an appalling story, just heartbreaking. It seems this was not a random crime but premeditated, it's hard to understand the murder of the grandmother, why didn't they just tie her up and subdue her? UNLESS she knew the perpetrator, just speculating.

I pray this little girl is found quickly, statistics are never in our favor when looking for a missing baby. I pray this case is one of the exceptions.

A man arrested for shooting his pregnant wife dead and subsequently killing their unborn child will be tried in February on charges of first-degree murder and non-consensual termination of a human pregnancy.

Seth Techel, 21, from Ottumwa, Iowa was arrested during his wife Lisa's memorial service in late May after investigations led police to believe that he had committed the crime.

The arrest affidavit filed alleged that Techel shot his deputy sheriff wife of seven months with a shotgun and that the murder may have been motivated by his affair with another woman.

I have to admit, I just don't understand the mentality of the teens killing such little ones. She was only 5 yo and visiting a great grandma. Perp was well known by family. Trial should be coming up.

This is one more case that should be a "slam dunk" of guilty. IMO, a life sentence is the only option.

I'm not sure who is paying defense attorney, Mike DeGuerin, who is quite well known in Texas for defending high profile clients, but he is quoted as saying she made a "mistake" which led to a tragic accident and shouldn't be charged with murder.

Say WHAT???? Her "mistake" was going to get a donut (alone) one hour after 7 children were dropped off in her care; her "mistake" was going to Walgreens alone 2 hours later; her "mistake" was leaving the house after lunchtime (alone) to go shopping at Target - and oh by the way, she left a pan of BURNING OIL on the stove. Her "mistake" was going on the lam to Nigeria after charges were brought for Murder One.

The only "mistake" I see is if the Jury is from Pinellas...

This is just gut wrenching. The original story made it sound like the nanny had been with the family for years, when reality is was less than a year. Sounds like she may have become addicted to pills more recently according to relatives' account of her behavior. A very wealthy family potentially with prescriptions available around the house wouldn't be shocking, although no evidence suggesting such yet. I guess I'm just trying to make sense of this horrendous behavior.

What really gets me abou this story is that the mother actually SAVED the nanny by wrapping a towel around her throat. Had it been me.....man.....I would have finished the job myself.

Whew...I've been blessed to have a mom who acted as nanny for my daughter for years. Guess I should go hug her tonight.

UPDATE: During the search conducted by family and friends on October 26, papers towels were recovered with a substance believed to be blood on them. These items were recovered in a field between Obispo and Ralston Rd.

UPDATE: A purse belonging to the Machesney Park woman who vanished earlier this week, was found near her abandoned car. A search party is now looking for more clues at a Schoonmaker Park.

Miraynda Castro is helping lead a search party, filled with faces she's never seen. Dozens of people have come to Schoonmaker Park to help find her sister whose been missing for four days.

“If you have a sister, you have this bond that you can't explain and I guess I just really miss her and I can't accept she's not here, I just want her back,” said Castro.

More than two dozen people are searching the area off Ralston Road, where 30 year-old Katrina Smith's car was found abandoned Tuesday night. Her purse and cell-phone were located days later in a wooded area nearby. Detectives say she was last seen leaving her husband's home, after shopping on 173 at about 9 p.m. Monday.

MACHESNEY PARK — Nearly 100 people walked tree lines along Schoonmaker Park and scoured the banks of the Rock River on Friday in search of a missing Machesney Park woman.

Katrina Smith, 30, was last seen Monday night.

Friday, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Chief Dominic Iasparro revealed Smith’s purse was recovered Wednesday, a short distance from where her blue 2012 four-door Chevrolet Cruze was found Tuesday night at Obispo Road and Ventura Boulevard. Her cell phone was recovered Thursday in the 700 block of Ralston Road.

Iasparro said it was volunteers who found bloody paper towels Thursday in the vicinity of the vehicle. Authorities are waiting lab results to determine if the blood belonged to Smith.

Katrina Smith: Missing from Illinois

UPDATE: 10/26/12 - Winnebago County Sheriff’s Police today revealed that the woman’s purse, cell phone and a bloody towel were found in the same area as her abandoned new car. Her cell phone was recovered in the 700 block of Ralston Road on Thursday.

Katrina A. Smith, 30, from Machesney Park, Ill. was reported missing by her husband on Tuesday, October 23. Her car was located later that evening, unoccupied, at the intersection of Obispo and Ventura in Machesney Park.

Smith, who worked in the human resources department at Camryn Company in Belvidere, went shopping Monday night, and then was reportedly last seen that night by her husband when she left their home to run an additional errand around 9 p.m.

MOLALLA, OR (KPTV) - Two West Linn teens are missing after going on a hike in the Table Rock area east of Molalla.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office received a call of two overdue hikers on Saturday night.

Officials said Jackson Chandler, 17, and Bradley Nelson, 16, went on a day hike at Table Rock.

When neither teen returned, family members called search and rescue crews.

Officials started searching the area last night and continued today.

Tampa, Florida - The former fiance of a Tampa woman found hanging in a shower on New Year's Day 2009 on Anna Maria Island has now hired a lawyer.

On Thursday morning Joe Genoese would not confirm who his lawyer was, only to say that he hired one.

"I'm done with the media," Genoese told 10 News. "After the Dr. Phil show, I'm done with you guys."

During a recent appearance on the Dr. Phil show, Genoese took a lie detector test and failed it. The talk show host hired a former member of the FBI to ask Genoese if he had anything to do with Morris' death.

The Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining the whereabouts of a child that has been reported missing, and is unaccounted for during the last eleven months. Dwight Stallings, 22 months old, was born in May of 2010 but has not been seen by family members since sometime in April of 2011. Law enforcement recently learned of these circumstances, and is aggressively attempting to learn the whereabouts of this young child. A Kinston woman says it's been two weeks since her daughter was last seen after taking a trip to Europe.

Emilee Irsik is a student at Emporia State University in Kansas and a native of Wichita. Her parents now live in Lenoir County.

The 20-year-old flew into Hamburg, Germany on October 20th and didn't return from fall break on the 26th.

EMPORIA, Kan. — The family of Emporia State student Emilee Irsik is waiting for news about their missing daughter.

Irsik disappeared 11 days ago while traveling to Germany, a trip her family had no idea she was on until they discovered she was missing and checked her smart-phone records. Irsik’s family first learned of her disappearance from Emporia State staff, stating she hadn’t returned from break.

According to information posted on Facebook, Emilee flew alone from Wichita to Dallas and then to London on Oct. 19. She flew to Hamburg the next day. She did not board the return flight from Hamburg to London on Oct. 26 and has not booked a return flight, her mother said.

Gwen Larson, assistant director for media relations at Emporia State, said there is no information at this point that Emilee is the victim of foul play.

“I do know she is studying German with us, but this was not any sort of university travel,” Larson said.

The lack of evidence suggesting a crime is a good news-bad news scenario, Sherry Irsik said. Lacking such evidence, a court denied a request from the Emporia State police department to be granted access to her e-mail account.

There may be e-mails that could offer clues to where she’s staying and who she’s been in contact with, her mother said.

“Why do you have to have blood on your hands in order for you to get a search warrant for e-mail,” she asked.

CBS/AP) EMPORIA, Kan. - Missing Kansas college student Emilee Irsik has been found in Germany nearly three weeks after traveling there without telling her friends or family.

The 20-year-old Emporia State University junior was with German authorities when she called her family around noon Thursday. According to CBS affiliate WIBW, Irsik's family is now working with authorities reunite with her.

Her mother, Sherry Irsik, of La Grange, N.C., told The Associated Press she is "thrilled beyond measure" and looking forward to seeing her daughter. She said she didn't speak long with Emilee and had "zero information" about what happened.

Dad Searches For Runaway Daughter (VIDEO)

A Heartland family waits for word from a runaway teen who may be in way over her head. Bellevue police believe she may be in danger.

Channel 6 News spoke with the girl's father Saturday and he says the worst part of the situation is not knowing if she is alright. Sixteen-year-old Brittany Goings was last seen on Tuesday when she was dropped off at Bellevue East by her father.

About 15 minutes later, the school's security cameras caught her getting into a dark van or SUV that had just pulled up to the school.

Her family has heard from Brittany once, telling them to leave her alone, but her father says even that call seemed odd. "It was almost like a recording how she said it," said Ricky Goings. "She said 'I'm alive, I'm okay' and I said Brittany why don't you come home? She said goodbye and hung up."

A 19-year-old American student has regained consciousness on Friday after allegedly being stabbed by his best friend, who says he has no recollection of the events after a drug-fueled night of Halloween partying in Italy's capital.

The victim, New Jersey-born Fabio Malpeso, was in intensive care and listed in critical condition after his roommate allegedly stabbed him 25 times early on Thursday morning while he slept.

Malpeso is a student at John Cabot University, an American school in Rome, and the shocking attack came on the five year anniversary of the stabbing death of British exchange student, Meredith Kercher - whose roommate Amanda Knox was convicted and ultimately exonerated in her friend's 2007 death.

The alleged attacker, Reid Alexander Schepis, also attends John Cabot University. He is an American-born student with both U.S. and Italian citizenship and was arrested early on Thursday in the apartment they shared overlooking Rome's famous Colosseum.

He's a model/actor/world traveler who now finds another title affixed to his name -- alleged Ponzi schemer.

Beyond his pin-up good looks and dazzlingly white smile, former Florida Atlantic University student Donald R. French Jr. stands out from the never-ending parade of South Floridians accused of running investment frauds. Federal authorities say he was just 21 years old when he launched a $10 million "classic Ponzi scheme" he used to transform himself from a boy from Michigan into an international jet-setter.

Local attorneys who track investment fraud cases say they have never heard of anyone so young accused of convincing people to entrust him with millions of dollars. French formed a Boca Raton-based company in March 2008, promising returns of up to 50 percent a year with investments in foreign currencies, emeralds and even a solar-energy project in Italy, according to federal court records.

Using the money, he set up a home in Rome, traveled to 30 countries and was a high roller in Las Vegas, court documents show. His wild ride ended this summer when he was detained in South Africa and brought back to Las Vegas for passing bad checks at casinos. He's now in South Florida facing a wire fraud charge related to his company, D3 Capital Management.

His arraignment in West Palm Beach federal court had been scheduled for Friday, but it was postponed after his attorney wrote that French and federal authorities are "seeking to resolve this matter" -- an indication that they are talking about a plea deal.

This is just gut wrenching. The original story made it sound like the nanny had been with the family for years, when reality is was less than a year. Sounds like she may have become addicted to pills more recently according to relatives' account of her behavior. A very wealthy family potentially with prescriptions available around the house wouldn't be shocking, although no evidence suggesting such yet. I guess I'm just trying to make sense of this horrendous behavior.

What really gets me abou this story is that the mother actually SAVED the nanny by wrapping a towel around her throat. Had it been me.....man.....I would have finished the job myself.

Whew...I've been blessed to have a mom who acted as nanny for my daughter for years. Guess I should go hug her tonight.

Jacqueline Nieves, La. mom, and two daughters found stabbed in apartment set ablaze

(CBS/AP) LOCKPORT, La. - Emergency crews battling an apartment fire Sunday found the bodies of 29-year-old Jacqueline Gautreaux Nieves, 20-month-old Isabella Nieves or 6-year-old Gabriella Nieves inside.

Authorities say the three were stabbed, and that investigators believe the fire was set in a possible bid to cover up the crime.

From around the world we had accounts of people attacking and eating the faces of others; the shootings in Denver, Wisconsin, CA. (Theater, spas)

Too many illogical things. Such as cutting down over 400 mature trees in Los Angeles to move a space shuttle when a crane could have done the job? AND NO ONE protested!

We ALL knew about Sandy hitting the east coast but the government and related service industries were TOTALLY unprepared? How could that be? No laying in of supplies or assisting individuals to higher, safer grounds? No readying of emergency rooms, food, etc.??? FEMA is slow to respond and Red Cross is carrying the brunt of this? Makes NO sense!

Daily I am seeing illogical happenings.
