Why does DS dodge the question when asked whether she thinks Rebecca killed herself? In NR's interview, she had no problem saying that she believed Rebecca committed suicide due to guilt? DR states that her experts have concluded that Max was killed and that only Rebecca and her sister were in the home at the time Max ended up at the bottom of the stairs. To me, it seems she's all but saying that either Rebecca or XZ did this to Max! But yet how DARE anyone question the downright suspicious and violent way Rebecca was found?? Does DR not find THAT suspicious at all?? And btw, Rebecca was NOT FOUND hanging! She was FOUND by LE all tied up laying in the grass with a shirt tied around her neck and stuffed in her mouth. ONLY AS says she was originally found hanging.

JS's whereabouts have been danced around. We just can't seem to get a straight answer! WHY? No witnesses that he was even at that gym around the time of his son's accident, no? I am not saying that JS did anything to his son, but you would think that a father would not want ANY suspicion about him possibly contributing in some way to his son's fall or even being there when it happened, IMO. That has really bugged me that to this day we do not know for fact where he was. OR even GS or ES. Again, not saying they had ANYTHING to do with this, but why not just clear these simple questions up? I'd like to know, is DR asking these questions about the whereabouts of the others that WERE in the house at some point that morning. These are all just my opinions.

Howard Luber: He was flown in and then out rather rapidly. Wasn't he the party JS turned to for evaluation of MS' medical condition?

Freckles, the atty. showed up, IIRC, (I may have a video link, I'll look) that evening and was turned away. The only thing that I remember said about Paul Pfingst, the atty., was that he was asked to come for someone there at the home but that it was not JS.

--I have to wonder if she is laughing still? She seriously needs some mental help. Maybe JS could find her someone outside the family. Some badly damaged genes seem to be hanging out in that family.

Was it ever disclosed who he was representing or hoping to represent?Did he "go away" of his own accord or was he informed his services would not be needed?

One would think, if RZ had requested his services, he would have spoken out AFTER her death.

I don't ever remember ever hearing who he was there for. Just that it wasn't for JS. I am looking for the video. I've saved so much on this case, just a few minutes hopefully to find it. I remember seeing a very short clip in a news video of him being escorted, in a friendly sort of way, by one of the head guys. I'll find it.

Ok, Freckles, I found this video that does show Pfingst speaking with a member of LE. There are a series of videos on this CBS 8 station. This wasn't the one I was thinking of, however Pfingst is mentioned and shown in this particular video. I'll keep looking for the one that I know I saw of him being led out by a member of LE.

Curiously, prominent San Diego defense attorney and former district attorney Paul Pfingst showed up at the mansion twice, once on Tuesday after Nalepa was discovered and again on July 18. During his second visit, Pfingst refused to identify a client but told reporters that he was not representing Jonah Shacknai.

The man who showed up at the mansion that morning was defense attorney Paul Pfingst, ex 2-term San Diego DA. He said he was working for someone in the mansion. The only person in the mansion was Adam. I believe his appearance was a silent signal of the way this story should go. As ex-DA, Pfingst knew for sure that he would never be able to go beyond the yellow crime scene tape - so what was the reason for him showing up it if wasn't to make his "presence" known to LEO's? Pfingst also said he had not talked with Jonah...but as with everything else, Jonah has someone else do the work and one would think that Jonah had a representative contact Pfingst on his behalf. Either that or Jonah gave Adam Pfingst's name and number.

Perhaps it was Gore who was the "middle man" between Jonah and Pfingst. Gore was the DA's Special Investigator after leaving the FBI and prior to joining the SDSO.

CPD showed up first, with the CFD.....since they don't have a homicide unit, they called in SDSO.

Your right she is. The point I was trying to make is they all like to write on their walls. Something that would never happen at my house.

I have thought from the start that the outside of the beautiful house was very telling. We did not see the inside at first.

Have you had a house in your neigborhood that went to pot? Usually it is very telling of the owners.

Of course there can be medical reasons or age and such why people can't keep up. (Usually you still them out there still working.)

But, the S did not have to do anything. They just needed to pay to have it done and they still didn't care.

I think we talked about this at THM. There was just no one that cared that much about much of anything.

The head of the family cared about his business. Everything else was just there. JMO

If you look closely at the recent pics of the house on the exterior, you can see that it was not well maintained. As far as interior pics, the ones that are available on the internet, they were taken long before Jonah bought the place in 2007......

In spending all the time and expense of having Max's death investigated, I wonder why nobody bothered to have a PI firm investigate the whereabouts of all people that had been present at some time during that morning. Seems the obvious next step.

If you skip that step and go straight to "Rebecca had direct involvement," then your findings are invalid.

Maybe someone already thoroughly investigated that and I just don't know about it.

Cripes. I believe the woman would go on the CARTOON and/or ANIMAL channels, if they'd have her.

It really doesn't matter what she says...everyone knows she wants Rebecca's family and what left of them and Jonah Shacknai to BLEED.

I would love to know the reason that "somebody" decided that a 13 year old girl should visit the vacation home at a time when all other children were leaving.

"Who" purposely arranged for this scenario? IIRC, Max was scheduled to go back to Dina's home that day.

I know some people believe that was the arrangement because another teenaged girl was not a nice girl. I don't share that assumption. I still want to know why it was arranged that way.

I'm not sure if she commented on Max's injuries on previous shows, but she elaborated on the types of injuries Max had. She said (paraphrasing, of course) he had bruises in "recessed areas" of his body, such as inside the eyelids, and notable to me, his neck. She said he had many injuries on his back, including abrasions and bruises. One bruise, she said, lined up with the shape of the railing. She said falling from the top floor onto the top of his head would not cause injury around the neck and inside the eyelids...etc.

I would think that Rebecca arranged it that way, Xena came in the day before, so she got to spend time with Gabby, Ethan and Max. But think I would think that Rebecca wanted to spend time with her little sister the rest of her visit.

IIRC one of the children had a planned trip out of the country. I can understand Rebecca using the time away to spend with her younger sister instead of when the children are spending time with their father. Maybe Rebecca was being considerate of the children spending time with their father?

It makes sense to me that Maxie was scheduled that day to go home with Dina. In recent news we have learned Maxie was not to be left alone with Rebecca if any of her family members were present. Once XZ came to town, allegedly Rebecca would not be allowed to be with Maxie unless Jonah was present. In my opinion the schedule fits almost perfectly. However we know Jonah broke this agreement when he decided to go to the gym.

If that is true, Rebecca would need to be around his children and it would be natural for the families to get to know each other. This seemed like a step in that direction. Getting family members together.

IIRC one of the children had a planned trip out of the country. I can understand Rebecca using the time away to spend with her younger sister instead of when the children are spending time with their father. Maybe Rebecca was being considerate of the children spending time with their father?

It makes sense to me that Maxie was scheduled that day to go home with Dina. In recent news we have learned Maxie was not to be left alone with Rebecca if any of her family members were present. Once XZ came to town, allegedly Rebecca would not be allowed to be with Maxie unless Jonah was present. In my opinion the schedule fits almost perfectly. However we know Jonah broke this agreement when he decided to go to the gym.

I think Dina said that Jonah said he would NOT agree that Rebecca could not be alone with Max. She then added that she settled for Max not being alone with Rebecca while any of her family members were around. Personally, I do not believe Dina that she made that concession. I think she made that second part up from whole cloth, so to speak. I think she sat Jonah down and said she didn't want Rebecca with Max, and he told her where to jump off at (just like Dina said), end of story.

I still don't understand why a 13 year old would be scheduled to arrive when all other children are leaving. Those are soom good guesses, Lash. I would love to know the reason from a horse's mouth. I realize I probably never will. But I think its disturbing in light of the fact someone was looking up "sexy Asian girls" on the computer (before her arrival?).

We don't know that GS and ES would want XZ with them on their vacation - their time with their dad...XZ was not part of their family - and we know from the writing on GS's Facebook page that she didn't really care that much for Rebecca.

So, it's probably fair to say that XZ wouldn't be welcomed so much by the other teens; they'd want their time with their dad. IDK for sure...but it's not off base to think that.

Just because they're kids, doesn't mean they should all be thrown together. It's not like they're small children.

Rebecca and Jonah were not married - and by bringing in XZ one day before the other teens left, that gave them time to be with each other and to try to get all the teens to know each other.

Besides that, Rebecca probably wanted to spend some quality time with her little sister, too. Especially after just spending two weeks looking after all the Shacknai children.

Hi Puzzler~~ What did GS say about Rebecca on her Facebook page? I wasn't aware she said anything about her. Interested to hear what it was.

With all these specualtions about what might have been or could have been the case, I would just love to know what the case was, exactly. Its too bad the police did not investigate the questions that naturally come up in contemplation of all the circumstances surrounding the death of two people

I hope that the Zahau's are not keeping the files a secret because of the rumor that XZ is Rebecca's daughter. I doubt anyone cares about that!!! And if that isn't it, then I would love to know what it is that would be "hurtful" to the Zahau family, which causes Bremner not to discuss what is in those files.

On the Facebook page, GS was just remembering Max, that he's missed and his being gone for a year now, and mentioned Rebecca being gone, too, including that she was not close to Rebecca.

I think Bremner is not discussing what's in those files because she has a filing with the AG requesting an approval to grant an independent investigation. If one is wanting an investigation to happen, I wouldn't think the way to go about that would be to put everything you know out to the public. An investigation should be about what people know, heard, saw and not about what they read in a public paper, on the internet or saw on TV.

If I were Anne Bremner, I'd want an investigation to be a fair as possible.

It is very interesting, the whole media jaunt. I found it interesting that her quest for answers began nine months ago. Basically, three months after Max's death. She had larger questions early on.

I don't see Dina being particularly smug or cocky in her demeanor.

This may be an incredible opening for more answers to what happened to Rebecca.

Sheriff Gore Threatens to Release Rebecca Zahau Docs to Public

San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore sent a letter to Rebecca Zahau's family attorney, saying he would release Zahau's investigative file to the public if the family didn't keep the investigation quiet.

Zahau was found hanging, bound and nude from the balcony of her boyfriend's Cornado mansion in July. In September, the Sheriff's Department ruled the death a suicide.

Her family is convinced foul play was involved in Zahau's death. Last month, they exhumed her body for a second autopsy and appeared on the a daytime talk show.
Gore said the family's decision to turn to tabloid television angered Gore.

On Oct. 27, Gore sent the two-page letter sent to Anne Bremner, the attorney for Rebecca Zahau's family in response to Bremner's request for Zahau's death investigation files.

In it, Gore tells Bremener the files will not be released to the public, media or anyone else, unless law enforcement finds necessity to do so.
The files include witness statements, 911 calls and personal information about Zahau.
