Tweet made from slain student's account day after her dismembered remains found

GRAPEVINE, Texas — The day after a North Texas college student was found dismembered and burned, someone made a post to her Twitter account, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.

Charles Dean Bryant, 30, has been charged with capital murder in the death of 24-year-old Jacqueline Vandagriff. Her body was found in a park Sept. 14 after firefighters extinguished a fire.

A day after her body was found, a post appeared on her Twitter account, reading: “Never knew I could feel like this.”

Grapevine police said they are aware of the tweet and are investigating.

According to an arrest warrant, Vandagriff is seen on a security video meeting Bryant at a bar in Denton, where she attended Texas Woman’s University, the night before her body was found. They are later seen going to another bar, then leaving together at about 9:45 p.m.

Grapevine police Sgt. Robert Eberling has said that it’s not known if the two knew each other before meeting at the bar.

Cell phone data indicates that early on the morning of Sept. 14, Vandagriff’s phone was in the vicinity of Bryant’s home in Haslet, about 25 miles southwest of Denton, according to the arrest warrant. Video evidence showed Bryant buying a shovel at 4:41 a.m. at a Wal-Mart, and there was evidence at his home that someone had tried to dig a hole in the ground.

Officials responding to a fire about 6:30 a.m. found Vandagriff’s body in a plastic kiddie pool in a park in Grapevine, located about 20 miles from Haslet. The arrest warrant says a witness saw a man standing over the fire before leaving.

Calif. man admits killing parents as they slept; paralyzing brother, 8



SANTA ANA, Calif. — A man pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday in the shooting death of his parents as they slept and the attempted killing of his 8-year-old brother, who was left paralyzed in a crime that shocked an upscale Southern California community.

Ashton Sachs, 22, entered his pleas to the charges in a Santa Ana court. He will face up to life in prison at his sentencing Oct. 14. Sachs was 19 when prosecutors say he drove from his college in Seattle to his family’s luxury home in San Juan Capistrano in February 2014.

Under the cover of darkness, prosecutors say Sachs shot and killed his parents, Bradford Sachs, 57, and Andra Sachs, 54, as they slept before shooting his little brother and firing at his 17-year-old sister, who wasn’t hit.

The boy was paralyzed. A 15-year-old sister who was at the home wasn’t hurt.

At the funeral, Ashton spoke lovingly of his father and of his mother. “48 Hours” reported on the case during the episode, “Shadow of Death.”

FBI Eyes Dr. Larry Nassar, Accused of Abusing Gymnasts

The FBI is involved in the investigation of a former doctor for America's Olympic gymnasts, who has been accused of sexually abusing young athletes under the guise of invasive medical exams, a law enforcement source told NBC News.

Dr. Larry Nassar worked with USA Gymnastics for two decades before he was quietly fired last year amid what the organization called "athlete concerns."

"When USA Gymnastics learned of athlete concerns, USA Gymnastics reported Dr. Nassar to the FBI," the organization said in a statement to NBC News this week. "USA Gymnastics is not commenting further due to the ongoing investigation."

Arrest amid search for Texas woman missing under "suspicious" circumstances



FORT WORTH, Texas -- Police are searching for a Texas woman they say is missing under suspicious circumstances, reports CBS DFW.

Typhenie Johnson, 25, vanished Monday afternoon from a Fort Worth apartment complex. Fort Worth police officer Jimmy Pollozani told the station investigators suspect foul play.

Johnson was last seen with 32-year-old Christopher Revill, who is currently in custody. He was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of kidnapping, reports the Star-Telegram, citing jail records. Revill is reportedly Johnson’s ex-boyfriend.

Johnson’s sock, phone and car keys were found in the parking lot at the apartment complex, the paper reports. Revill was driving a white Ford Taurus when he was arrested, and police are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle in east Fort Worth or west Arlington between 9:00 p.m. and midnight Monday night to come forward.

Revill reportedly has a criminal history that includes burglary and aggravated robbery convictions, the paper reports. He was most recently released on parole in July 2015,.

Johnson was wearing a pink shirt with black and white pants when she was last seen, according to police. She stands about five feet, four inches tall and weighs 135 pounds.

Because of the nature of the crime, child pornography trafficking victims are involved in countless cases across multiple jurisdictions and time. This means that in order to obtain restitution, a victim’s request must be presented in multiple cases across the country. Since the process is so lengthy and overwhelming, only about 20 out of the thousands of child pornography trafficking victims have sought restitution.

In 2000, Burke was promoted to lieutenant. In 2002, he was named chief of detectives by Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota and, in 2012, he became the Suffolk County police chief.

It was the search for Shannan Gilbert that led to the discovery of four other women's remains -- the work of a suspected serial killer....."

He claims he thought he was playing with a midget rather than a 2 year old girl. But, he was found in the living room with his pants pulled down and the little girl on his lap. Apparently, he expressed being mortified to learn what he was doing and that it was actually a little girl that he was "playing" with. A long time in jail seems like a good place for this guy to be. JMO

This had to be terrifying for all. I support our men in blue. They have to be ready to answer whatever call comes in. I listen to dispatch calls over my computer.... Most are for family disputes, missing child, dogs, and illness. There are drug overdoses, shots fired, car theft, etc.. They must wear many hats and always stay professional.

Good men and women in blue have been assassinated as a result. Many good men and women who might have considered serving in LE are probably thinking twice about serving because the danger of being a cop has exponentially multiplied. Sure, there are a few bad cops, just as there are a few bad apples in every profession. But it is irresponsible, and very dangerous, to lump all of LE into the "rotten" basket. If the left keeps it up, no good people will want to serve in LE. The price will be too high. JMO

Many good men and women who might have considered serving in LE are probably thinking twice about serving because the danger of being a cop has exponentially multiplied. Sure, there are a few bad cops, just as there are a few bad apples in every profession. But it is irresponsible, and very dangerous, to lump all of LE into the "rotten" basket. If the left keeps it up, no good people will want to serve in LE. The price will be too high. JMO

Decades ago, when I was much younger, I visited my father.
I was angry with how a teacher had treated my little 5 year old girl...
"How could she do this??? " I asked.
Dad replied, "What makes you think she couldn't?"
"Because she is a teacher! They are sposed to protect the children!"

And my wise dad taught me:
"Are all lawyers honest? Are all priests holy? Do all doctors care about their patients?
Are all accountants honest with the numbers?
Just because that is their occupation does not take away from the human condition.
They are still people and can be tempted or fall folly to human emotions or schemes.
There are just as many dishonest in the profession as there outside the profession.
The profession does not suddenly make them good people."

I remind myself of what Dad said any time I ask, "How could this be?  They were trusted..."

I don't dispute that there are some bad apples in law enforcement, as there are bad apples in all professions. I disagree with the irresponsible words and actions of the political left in regard to LE. LE is already a dangerous job. Good, caring, men and women will not want to become police officers if the anti-police sentiment continues to make them assassination targets. The only people who will want to be police will be the adrenaline junkies and bad actors that the left is painting the whole LE community as being.

Died, age 69


"...NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Drummer Butch Trucks, one of the founding members of Southern rock legend The Allman Brothers, has died. He was 69.

Page Stallings, Trucks' booking agent, said Trucks died Tuesday at his home in West Palm Beach, Florida. Stallings didn't know the cause of death.

Trucks was one of two original drummers, along with Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson, who helped formed the rhythms and the drive for The Allman Brothers. Formed in 1969 and led by Duane and Gregg Allman, the group helped define the Southern rock sound that incorporated blues, rock, country and jazz....."

For more than three decades, the death of 14-year-old California girl has haunted her family and the detectives tasked with finding her killer.  

On the evening of November 15, 1982, De Anna Lynn Johnson went to a party just doors down from her Vacaville home on Royal Oaks Drive.

It was the last time her family would see her alive, as the girl remembered as vibrant, passionate and beautiful never made it home.

When it reached past midnight and De Anna still hadn’t returned from the party, her mother, Ginger Dimpel reported her missing.

Hours later, her body was discovered in a nearby field by a railroad worker. She had been bludgeoned to death.

Mary Tyler Moore died a few days ago too. Is it just me, or does it seem like an unusually high number of famous people are dying the past few months/year?

Most actors/actress are living to be older. It seems the younger generation die off younger which is sad. I am 60 and enjoyed all of them. I guess my generation  watched TV as a family which now electronicso have replaced that now. Sad world because the family values have gone out the window. We ride motorcycles so we entrust God and family first. Plus I was raised by a good Ole country dad. If my grandkids act up then no tablets and plenty of chores just like my kids did.

Are we just aging and this is the natural part of life?
Is it because Hollywood is no longer making decent day time shows (due to costs), is running the oldies BUT not wanting to pay royalties to living actors?

Is it because we no longer have a few but have many... and the many have fewer parts?
