I have to say I've never heard of such barbarian ugly treatment as this poor little baby had to endure at the hands of this monster.
They must not have the death penalty there, cuz if they did they'd of used it in this case.

The State is seeking the death penalty in this case. In my opinion, Jonathan Richardson deserves nothing less.

The state should wrap up their case early next week, and then it will be on to the defense. The trial could last up to another week or two.

I haven't posted much but I read here often and I am just sickened by this case. I read the entire thread this morning and I was so disgusted and in tears... just thinking about what that monster did to that beautiful baby pisses me off. I'll never understand how anyone can hurt and take the life of a defenseless child. It absolutely disgust me and shakes me to my very core.

This is a very horrific, brutal case.

If you read the tweets from today (Links upthread for Heather Moore and Kelli O'Hara - reporters), Helen Reyes, Teghan Skiba's mother testified.

Without a doubt, she knew that Teghan was being abused before she left to NM for National Guard reserves training and she left Teghan with her boyfriend, Richardson. Reyes had other options, such as the paternal grandparents and her parents would have kept Teghan.

Like Abigail Young (Emma Thompson case), Reyes' needs came first! During that trial, the prosecutors said, "Abigail Young loved Lucas Coe more than she loved her own daughter, Emma Thompson."

Maybe Reyes loved Jonathan Richardson more than her own daughter, Teghan Skiba!

While Reyes is out on bond, she managed to get pregnant. She has an 8 month old baby girl and lives with a boyfriend.

I sure hope the State of NC (CPS) is monitoring Reyes. In September, 2010, Helen Reyes was indicted on charges of felony child abuse

I do hope her testimony in this trial will be used against her during her trial. She stated several times (per tweets) that she does not have a deal with the State. She declined a deal.

I guess she figures she might just get a jury that will 'let her walk'.

Try contacting the police when you first suspect your child is being compromised.
Children of this age do NOT "PLOT" against adults!!!
They have only a desire to please.
They lack the ability to "intentionally undue" the adult care givers.

IF she had thrown up on HIS chair.... maybe he had hit her in the stomach or abused her in another way?
Maybe she couldn't handle the alcohol or the cigarettes...

Teghan Skiba's dad lives out of town; maybe out of state.  At the time of Teghan Skiba's death, her father Jerry Skiba, was in Wake County Jail on felony drug charges.  His parents said he is having a hard time with all of this.

In Smithfield, Jonathan Douglas Richardson faces a possible death penalty if he’s convicted of the 2010 torture and beating death of his girlfriend’s 4-year-old daughter.

Investigators say Richardson whipped, bit and sexually assaulted the child for 10 days while her mother was away on military training. Richardson’s attorney says his client is mentally ill and was abused by his own father.

Psychologist grilled by prosecutors in Richardson trial's penalty phase as defense rests

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) --  The defense has rested in the sentencing portion of the Jonathan Richardson trial.

Richardson was found guilty of torturing and killing 4-year old Teghan Skiba, and now a jury has to decide if he should live or die.

A defense-hired psychologist was on the stand again Tuesday and the prosecution grilled the doctor all day long.

"I asked him do you miss her and he said, 'A lot. I sit in my room and cry about it and think about it a lot." Do you miss Helen? 'Not like I miss our daughter,'" said psychologist Dr. Mathew Mendel.

Richardson did say he missed Teghan, but never expressed remorse. Apparently, the defendant even has a tattoo with Teghan Skiba's name on his body.

During his closing arguments one week ago, an emotional Johnston County Assistant District Attorney Paul Jackson told jurors Skiba was tortured, sexually assaulted, and beaten by Richardson over a 10-day period while her mother, Helen Roxanne Reyes, was out-of-state for Army Reserves training.

Homemade knife found in Jonathan Richardson's cell

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) --  Prosecutors asked a judge Wednesday to have Jonathan Richardson shackled in court after a homemade knife was found in his jail cell.

Officials said the "shank" was a toothbrush with a nail file attached to the tip.

A jury is hearing arguments in the death penalty phase of Richardson's trial.
