I e-mailed two Raleigh TV stations and phoned one. I got prompt replies.

All three have stated the judge in the case is not allowing video streaming of the entire trial; no gavel to gavel coverage. The judge only allowed opening statements Monday morning.

I just watched WTVD (Raleigh, NC) live stream of their 5 pm News.

Kelli O'Hara gave an update from the court house in Smithfield, Johnston County, NC re the Jonathan Richardson trial.

Her report was in line with her tweets today.

There were several snippets of the nurse who testified that Richardson said he had to go to his truck.  She ran after him and detained him.   She said she grabbed him by the throat and could have ripped out his esophagus.

She also said she told a LE officer to give her his gun and she would end this right now (with Richardson).   {not verbatim}

I assume WTVD will post an article and the video from the news later.

Smithfield, N.C. — Doctors and nurses "feverishly worked" to save the life of 4-year-old Teghan Skiba when her mother's boyfriend took her to the emergency room of Johnston Memorial Hospital more than three years ago, claiming she hit her head while jumping on the bed.

But Dr. Michael Evans, a physician on call July 16, 2010, testified Tuesday in the capital murder trial of Jonathan Douglas Richardson that the child had a faint pulse, strained breathing, dilated eyes and was limp and lifeless.

On Wednesday, a crime scene investigator described to the jury every single piece of evidence that she uncovered in the shed, which was littered with trash.

"I observed the interior of the shed to be cluttered with that appeared to an odor of urine and/or feces," Former CSI Investigator Charlotte Fournier said. "There was an air mattress on the floor in the south east corner of the room with a few pillows on top of it. Located on the floor between the chair and treadmill, there was a laptop and a brown extension cord with exposed ends. "

Fournier also said she found underwear - size 14 - with suspected blood, and a piece of tissue inside with suspect blood on it.

Smithfield, N.C. — A former crime scene investigator wept Wednesday as she showed a Johnston County jury photos of the tiny, "cluttered and dirty" shed where prosecutors say a man tortured his girlfriend's young daughter for 10 days before she slipped into a coma and died in 2010.

The breakdown prompted the judge presiding over Jonathan Douglas Richardson's capital murder trial to excuse jurors from the courtroom so the investigator, Charlotte Fournier, could regain her composure.

Introducing all the evidence is a painstaiking process which takes up a lot of time. It is expected to continue most of the day Thursday and could even go into Friday.

Teghan Alyssa Skiba, 4 years old, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 at UNC Hospital. Born on July 6, 2006 in Raleigh; she was Helen Reyes and Jerry Skiba's little girl who loved purple, butterflies, lady bugs and her grandmother's garden.

Teggy's grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and all those she met and saw her beautiful smile will miss her very, very much.

Smithfield, N.C. — Jurors watched intently – some leaning forward in their seats – Thursday as they saw crime scene video of the 15-foot-by 13-foot shed where Johnston County prosecutors say a Smithfield man physically and sexually abused his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter before the child died.

Testifying for a second day in Jonathan Douglas Richardson's capital murder trial, Charlotte Fournier, a former crime scene investigator for the Johnston County Sheriff's Department, said she initially seized 196 items from the cluttered and dirty shed where Teghan Skiba spent 10 of her last 13 days alive.

Yes, this is a heinous, horrific case. In some ways it reminds me of the Emma Thompson case . . . she was barely 4 years old.

As many know by now, the Jonathan Richardson trial is not being live streamed.   The presiding judge is not allowing it.

Yesterday Kelli O'Hara (see below) tweeted that the judge will allow a "live" stream of Closing Arguments and the Jury Decision.
 So . . . at least we will get to hear/see that.  However, it is weeks away.  The trial is expected to last up to 6 weeks.

For now, you can follow the trial with Kelli who is tweeting and is in the court room.  Also, Kelli has usually been doing a "live" report outside the court house in Smithfield, NC at 4 and sometimes 5 p.m. EST.  It is usually posted later in the evening on WTVD's website and I've been posting links to their articles & videos.

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- A pediatric doctor testifying in the murder trial of Jonathan Richardson on Friday, told the courtroom he "nearly vomited" when he saw 4-year-old Teghan Skiba.

On Friday, Kocis said he "nearly vomited" when he saw the enormous amount of injuries that were inflicted on Skiba. Adding, that he had never seen injuries like that on any child in his 25 years as a doctor.

"We saw this small frail girl who you know from her status she was pale, she was poorly perfused, in shock, those parts ... don't portray how beaten this child was when she ... I had a first look at her," Kocis said. "These scars, these whip marks, these injuries to her skin that were all over her body, I mean there was essentially no part of her body that was spared."

His testimony got pretty graphic at times when he began to detail the extent of the girl's injuries.

" ...In laying out their case, Richardson's lawyers said he lacked experience and parenting skills, and they blame Teghan's death on Richardson's undiagnosed mental problems, his own experiences of being abused as a child and approval from Reyes, his girlfriend, that physically abusing the child was OK....."

This logic, as presented by the def's atty, appears to be rather faulty.

1.Every parent is at some time a "first time" parent yet not many "first time" parents have abused a child so severely, sexually molested the child, or beaten the child to death. Nor do parents bite a child...repeatedly. Not even first time parents.

2. Undiagnosed mental problems? Huh? The def has used the excuse he IS bipolar and "little things" set him off...So now we are hearing it is "undiagnosed"? Is this an attempt by an atty to clean up statements the def made to others? I think so.

3. Def stated he had been abused as a child which is why he abused Teghan. Abused children usually go out of their way to NOT hurt others BECAUSE they HAD been abused!

4. Def stated the mother, Reyes, "approved" his abusing the child.
Not relevant. It would not matter if the mother had approved physical abuse of the child it does not compel HIM to violate state and federal laws. In fact, HAD the mother approved of violence to the child AND he was aware of violence to the child, he had a LAWFUL DUTY to notify the local law enforcement, social services, etc.. The fact is he is trying to shift blame AND this points to HIS prior knowledge only compounds his guilt, IMO.

Where was CPS? Do they no longer exist? Why do we pay their salaries with our tax dollars and they do nothing to protect children. The whole damn system needs over hauls. These outside agencies need to be eliminated. The government should hire and be in control of these workers.

That's not to say that things like this wont happen again and again, we have sick people in this world and they will find every excuse in the book when they get caught. I don't even want to imagine all the children out here that get abused and it is never discovered because the children survive the abuse.

These sick SOB's need to be put away for ever and never be allowed to get those children (who do survive) back.

I do not believe in second chances when it come to harming a child.

Apparently UNC has a 20 bed children's ICU...this doctor was the attending doctor when #teghanskiba was brought into the hosptial.
