Haleigh Cummings Birthday - 8/17/11 - Vigil & Balloon Release

Haleigh Cummings' birthday will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2011.

To honor Haleigh, her family will have a Prayer Vigil on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Welaka, FL.

On August 17, 2011, there will be a Balloon Release at 2:16 p.m. in Palatka, FL. Haleigh was born at
2:16 a.m. Because most folks are sleeping at that time, the release will be in the afternoon.

To honor Haleigh, I will light a red (one of Haleigh's favorite colors) candle at 2:16 p.m. on August 17. I hope others will either light a candle or release a balloon to honor Haleigh.

Everyone remembers little HaLeigh Cummings from Florida on February 10, 2009. She disappeared in the middle of the night from her bed while her then babysitter was sleeping in bed just a few feet away. A massive search went on for HaLeigh but to this day she has still not been found.

Some seem to think the ones responsible are now behind bars on unrelated charges, but there are still some of us out there that think otherwise. I will admit I am one that believes otherwise and to this day I still pray that one day HaLeigh will be able to go home.

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Today is the day Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield planned to be celebrating their daughter's eighth birthday.

Instead, Sheffield will be on Reid Street in Palatka for a balloon release in honor of Haleigh Cummings, her daughter who remains the subject of a nationwide Amber Alert and who hasn't been seen since February 2009.

PALATKA, Fla. -- More than two years after Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her Putnam County home, her family continues to celebrate her birthday. Haleigh would have turned 8 years old Wednesday.

Twenty-five businesses joined dozens of family members and friends for a balloon release in Palatka Wednesday afternoon.

I cannot believe she's 8 yeas old today. I still picture the 5 year old little girl with the crooked smile and beautiful blonde curls. The Kindergartener. This summer, HaLeigh would be getting ready to start 3rd grade. I sometimes wonder what she looks like today. The same? Different? We shouldn't have to wonder this, we should know. HaLeigh sould be here with her family today, celebrating her 8th birthday. But instead, it is the 3rd birthday that she has spent away from home. I would do anything for her to be here with her family today and for this all to be over, I wish with everything in me that she would come home TODAY.

It is with great pleasure and a special love in my heart for your beautiful granddaughter, HaLeigh, that I thought it was appropriate to remember HaLeigh on her 8th birthday. She captured my heart and I think of HaLeigh very often.
