When Luka Magnotta returns before a judge for his preliminary hearing next week in Montreal, he'll seek to have the public banned entirely from the courtroom.

While a publication ban on evidence heard at a preliminary hearing is normal, Magnotta's lawyer has also asked to bar everyone except the judge, the lawyers in the case and the court clerk from the room.

The motion states that the grounds for the request stem from an unspecified reason related to Magnotta's personal and medical history, which have not been disclosed in the document.

Preliminary trial to see if there is enough evidence to take it to trial... it will be about 4 weeks of testimony.

This case is so creepy I shudder when I read of it.

It appears Marek, who posted the vids on line, could get/was sentenced to no more than two years? Could you imagine stumbling across that web site? Or a child finding it and opening it out of curiosity?

I studied abnormal Psych in my post secondary education. i actually went and watched the video … there was no way to identify Magnotta in the video.. he was so careful to shield his face. The Video was absolutely mind numbing and would cause the most seasoned LE nightmares. As we don't allow cameras etc.. or a lot to be leaked to the press as cases are ongoing I can say that I hope that the jury did not have to watch it.. although I know that in past cases where there was video that it was presented. In the case of Karla Homolka and Paul Bernardo those videos are still sealed and the ones that were shared with forensic psychology students were difficult to watch. I truly think that there is a need for people to see this stuff so that we can understand why someone should get the DP.
