Man found in contempt during Casey Anthony trial files complaint against Judge Perry
The man found in contempt and sentenced to jail by Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry during the Casey Anthony trial said Friday he's filing complaints that the judge is violating campaign laws.
Mark Schmidter was sentenced to roughly five months in the Orange County Jail last summer for violating Perry's orders regarding a free-speech zone at the courthouse and handing out jury pamphlets.
When Schmidter distributed pamphlets outside the designated free-speech zone at the courthouse that were aimed at influencing jurors, he was brought before Perry for contempt.
During a short trial, Schmidter testified that he didn't think either of Perry's orders applied to him or people with the Fully Informed Jury Association, whose members also distributed the pamphlets at the courthouse.
Perry granted Schmidter bond and he was released from jail while he appeals his case. The case is still on appeal, Schmidter said.
On Friday, Schmidter said he was filing complaints with the State Attorney's Office and other agencies that Perry needs to face criminal charges for violating campaign laws on his re-election website and fliers he mailed.
"There's an injustice. We have a tyrant that's actually running for re-election, Chief Judge Belvin Perry," Schmidter said as he stood in the free-speech zone in front of the courthouse.
"He has to follow the rules like all the rest of us. That's one of the reasons I went to jail."

Informed jury activist files criminal complaint against Circuit Judge Perry
Mark Schmidter, a citizen activist associated with Fully Informed Jury Association, has filed a complaint with Orange Osceola State Attorney Lawson Lamar that seeks a criminal charge against 9th Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Belvin Perry for violation Florida Campaign laws. Judge Perry is widely known as the judge in the Casey Anthony case out of Orlando, Florida. Many libertarians are involved in the efforts of FIJA to educate juries in their Constitutional rights while sitting on a jury.
“With the chief judge violating campaign laws, the courts are tainted and Perry needs to be held accountable for violating the law.” “This criminal violation carries a potential one (1) year in jail.” Interestingly, fellow activist Doug Guetzloe was sentenced to sixty (60) days in jail after a questionable ‘investigation’ by Orange Osceola State Attorney Lawson Lamar and actually served six (6) weeks in jail for violating the disclaimer law just like Belvin Perry did. “If Guetzloe went to jail, Perry should do the full sentence of one (1) year in jail.”

Not quite on point, but I just have to say it.
5 months in jail for distributing pamphlets outside the permitted speech zone
0 for repeated discovery violations about expert witness testimony and evidence in a capital murder case
