TEMPE, AZ - Police are continuing to search for a 19-year-old woman who went missing after a night out partying.

Crews spent Monday night searching the bottom of Tempe Town Lake for Gateway Community College student Adrienne Salinas.

Officers said they have no specific reason to believe her body is in the water, but they searched it with sonar to make sure.

Tempe police spokesman Mike Pooley said Adrienne was last seen near Brown and Roosevelt Streets around 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

Pooley said Adrienne was supposed to go over to her boyfriend's house, but never made it. Her father found her vehicle a few blocks from where she was last seen.

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - Tempe police have shifted their search for a missing 19-year-old college student to Tempe Town Lake.

Officers said Adrienne Salinas was last heard from at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday when she called a friend to say she was coming over.

She never arrived.

Salinas' father found her car on Sunday near Brown and Roosevelt streets - about two blocks from her apartment on Ash Avenue.

Salinas' family told CBS 5 News they knew something was very wrong when she never called her dad Sunday to wish him a happy Father's Day.

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - Cell phone records show the young woman who vanished just blocks away from her Tempe apartment over the weekend made a phone call before she disappeared.

Adrienne Salinas, 19, hasn't been seen or heard from since about 4:30 Saturday morning.

It's believed she was headed to her boyfriend's house. Police said Salinas used her cell phone to call a cab after she had gotten two flat tires near 5th Street and Brown.

Salinas asked for a driver to meet her at the A.M./P.M. gas station at the intersection of Hardy and University. Investigators told CBS 5 she never made it there.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office searched Tempe Town Lake on Monday night, but did not find a 19-year-old woman who has been missing since Saturday morning, Tempe police said.

While police have no evidence that Adrienne Salinas has met with foul play, they still consider her sudden disappearance "very suspicious,'' said Sgt. Mike Pooley, a police spokesman.

Salinas vanished Saturday morning. She left her Tempe apartment at 3 a.m. and told her roommates she was going to drive to her boyfriend's home in Scottsdale.

Salinas sent her boyfriend a text at 4:47 a.m. saying she was on her way, but never arrived and her cellphone was turned off at 5:07 a.m. Her car was reported to be in an accident at Ash and Rio Salado Parkway shortly after she left her apartment. The car was found a block way, with front end damage and two flat tires.

When Adrienne Salinas failed to call her dad on Father's Day, her family knew something was wrong.

Three days later, authorities in Tempe, Az., announced a search for the 19-year-old student, last seen early in the morning of June 15, before leaving to visit her boyfriend in Scottsdale.

Police say that Salinas "was involved in a single vehicle accident at about 3:44 AM." Both of her vehicle's front tires were flattened.

“She was upset and wanted to go talk to her boyfriend about it," her roommate, Shaney Duggan, told MyFoxPhoenix. "Along the way there she hit a curb, her tires popped."

Adrienne Salinas: Multiple agencies conduct search for missing 19-year-old

TEMPE, AZ - Authorities, including the FBI, combed through Tempe neighborhoods on Saturday in a desperate search for a 19-year-old who has been missing since June 15.

Tempe Police Sgt. Mike Pooley confirmed to ABC15 that more than 100 officers from the Tempe police Department, Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and the FBI were searching near 5th and Hardy streets for missing teenager, Adrienne Salinas.

Pooley said officers began the door-to-door search at 5 a.m. Saturday hoping to find more clues and information that can lead them to Salinas. Officers did not receive any new information or a tip that led to this new search.

Tempe police and Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies on Saturday morning were conducting an extensive search where a missing 19-year-old college student may have disappeared two weeks ago.

The Sheriff’s Office had set up a command post near Hardy Drive and Brown Street and more than 30 deputies and police officers were searching the area in the case of Adrienne Salinas. They were stopping pedestrians and asking them if they had seen any strange activity they see around June 15 when Salinas disappeared.

Last week, Tempe police said they were consulting with the FBI to make sure they are doing everything possible find Salinas.

Salinas’ family and friends washed cars and collected donations Saturday morning at the Circle K at Hardy Drive and University Drive, a block away from where she is thought to have gone missing.

“[Her disappearance] has turned my world upside down,” said Rick Salinas, Adrienne’s father. “We’re raising funds for donations, mainly for a reward for anyone who knows about her whereabouts.”

Salinas' boyfriend, Francisco Arteaga, was one of the last people to see her before she disappeared in the early morning hours of June 15.

Tempe police told CBS5 News he is not a suspect or a person of interest and has been very cooperative with them.

Arteaga said the last he heard from Salinas was around 4:40 a.m. on June 15 - a half hour before her cell phone went dead.

The text message read, "I'm coming over."

Police report: 19-year-old Adrienne Salinas left home after argument with boyfriend

TEMPE, AZ - A Tempe Police report is shedding light on the final hours and actions before a 19-year-old student went missing last month.

Adrienne Salinas reportedly argued with her boyfriend and packed a small bag before she disappeared.

Francisco Arteaga told police Salinas was upset with him after a party at her apartment because she felt he “was not paying enough attention to her,” according to the report.

The two left the party and argued as they drove to and from his Scottsdale apartment.

Arteaga then told officers when he came up to a stop light at 5th Street and Mill Avenue in Tempe, Salinas got out of his car and began walking home.

Arteaga says he also got out of the car to give Salinas her cell phone that she had left on the passenger seat of the car.

Adrienne Salinas Missing: Newly Released Police Report Adds To Mystery (Video)

According to Tempe police, a witness who was driving to work in the early morning hours of June 15 saw Salinas' car driving erratically at about 3:40 a.m. The witness said the car passed her near the Rio Salado Parkway and struck a curb, flattening both the driver's-side tires. The car sped off on the damaged tires before the woman could check on the driver, according to the police report. The witness called the police, but responding officers were unable to locate the car, the report says.

Surveillance footage taken from an auto parts store on 1002 W. University Ave. that morning showed a slender woman walking through the parking lot at 4:52 a.m. A dark, four-door vehicle can also be seen heading through the same parking lot approximately two minutes later, according to the police report.

Phone records indicate Salinas called a cab company at 5:05 a.m. that morning and requested a ride. However, when the driver showed up, he was unable to locate her, the police report says. The young woman's cell phone was turned off at 5:07 a.m., police said.

Friends, family to hold vigil for missing Tempe woman (Video)

More than a month after a 19-year-old Tempe woman suddenly vanished, friends and family members will gather Saturday night to pray at a candlelight vigil for her safe return.

“We’re going to light candles. It’s going to symbolize that it will light her way home,” said Rick Salinas, Adrienne Salinas’ grief-stricken father.

The vigil will be held at 7 p.m. at Tempe’s Jaycee Park, at 5th Street and Hardy Drive, not far from Adrienne’s apartment. Friends plan to distribute 800 more fliers and to continue publicizing a $10,000 reward for information leading to Adrienne and her return.

A student at Gateway Community College, Adrienne disappeared without leaving a trace on the morning of June 15. Tempe police are still searching for her but say they have few clues, with no physical evidence and few witnesses.

“It’s an indescribable pain I’m living with,” Rick Salinas said. “It’s a feeling of helplessness, always missing her so much.”

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - Tempe police have confirmed the skeletal remains found in Apache Junction are those of missing 19-year-old Adrienne Salinas.

Tempe police Sgt. Mike Pooley said confirmation was made, through DNA testing, by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

"At this point in the investigation, we do not conclusively know Adrienne's cause or manner of death. We will continue to work with the Medical Examiner's office and other law enforcement partners, but we cannot rule anything out and we have not as of yet classified this case as a homicide," Pooley said in a statement Friday afternoon.

Salinas' skeletal remains were found Aug. 6 by a nearby homeowner in a wash near State Route 88 and Lost Dutchman Boulevard, Tempe police said.

The area has been the center of several searches since the discovery of the remains, but the search area was significantly expanded Thursday to cover some rough terrain as detectives looked for related evidence.

TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) - Adrienne Salinas' friends and family were cautiously hopeful she was still alive. CBS 5 spoke with her roommates Thursday who are stunned by news of a body being found with similarities to their friend.

Tempe police confirmed Thursday night that the body discovered in Apache Junction was Salinas.

Missing Adrienne flyers are still posted on doors and windows around the apartment complex where Adrienne Salinas lived.

Her roommates, who she had been friends with since sixth grade, say the last several weeks have been a nightmare.

Search for evidence continues in desert wash

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (CBS5) - A desert wash between Foothill Street and Lost Dutchman Boulevard became the focal point for a Tempe investigation early Thursday morning.

Tempe police had been searching for Adrienne Salinas, 19, who has been missing since before Father's Day. The search for evidence continued Friday with members of the Tempe and Apache Junction police departments, the FBI and other agencies.

According to an Apache Junction homeowner, her remains were found several days ago.

"It probably never would have been found if it weren't for [my neighbor]," Sheldon Coplin said.

His neighbor, Dan Kelly, found Salinas' remains in a wash near his home and immediately contacted the Pinal County Sheriff's Office and Apache Junction Police. After comparing the remains to reported missing persons from around the state, Salinas was the only person to match the description.

Adrienne Salinas: Missing Tempe teen's family pleads for killer to come forward

TEMPE, AZ - A Valley family is forced to say goodbye after a missing Tempe college student is found dead.

Thursday, police confirmed that 19-year-old Adrienne Salinas's body was found in Apache Junction.

Pamela Coss, Adrienne's aunt, says their family is just broken. She's pleading for the killer to come forward, and she believes this may be someone Adrienne actually knew.

Coss says Adrienne was full of life and plans for the future.

"She was always smiling. Smiling. She had a beautiful smile," Coss said.

So when we found out the news, it was devastating. We're angry, that somebody would do that to her, because she didn't deserve that," Coss said.

Coss says her family has been ripped apart.

"This person has destroyed her dad, my sister. That changed our lives forever," she said, crying.

Tempe PD searching for more clues in death of 19-year-old woman

Tempe police say it likely will take the right tip from the public to solve the death of a 19-year-old college student whose remains were found in an Apache Junction desert wash earlier this month.

Police are hopeful that forensic examinations underway in Tucson also will be helpful, but they know the condition of Adrienne Salinas’ remains poses some potential limitations.

“This case will be solved because someone comes forward to give us information,” said Sgt. Mike Pooley, a Tempe police spokesman. “If the forensics come back with nothing, we will need someone to come forward.”

Police on Tuesday said they are sifting through what they found for potential evidence and have no immediate plans to conduct further searches of the wash.

Dr. Greg Hess, Pima County’s chief medical examiner, said a team of pathologists and anthropoligists are working to determine a cause and manner of death.
