I hope I am wrong, but I honestly feel it is going to be a real challenge to get a death sentence for Jodi from this jury when they are really only getting such a condensed version of the trial. Her defense attorneys continue to act as if SHE HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN FOUND GUILTY OF THIS CRIME, objecting every second to things like the gruesome photos and anything that shows JA in a less than flattering light. It's endless!
If I had to bet, I would bet this will be yet another hung jury in the end. I hope, hope, hope I am wrong, but I think the momentum/shock of the first trial is lessened, and like so many others, I still can't help feel "IF ONLY....If only those idiot jurors had really paid attention and really done their job..."
I can't understand the continual and tedious preoccupation with the gunshot which was CLEARLY PROVEN TO HAVE OCCURRED LAST if you listened carefully to all the evidence in the first trial! There are NO ifs ands or buts about it! It these jurors turn out to be twits who actually believe that Travis was shot and then managed to get down the hall, etc., not to mention somehow leave a bullet casing on top of the blood, they will probably not sentence her to the DP.
I really hope that that is not the case, but in the first place, this phase of the trial SHOULD NEVER BE HAPPENING A FULL YEAR AND A HALF AFTER THE CONVICTION, and without all the massive amount of information as well as seeing Jodi as the slithering snake she is during the first trial, I am VERY apprehensive and fear that we are in for another disappointment with this jury's verdict.

18th:
While it may be difficult to get the DP in this case, she could get life.
Hopefully, she would NOT get 25 years, time served, and then out on 1/2 sentence... I am concerned as the jury did not know what "aspirating" meant. The one juror wanted to know if the blood aspirated on the sink could have come from the stomach (chest) wound.... I shook my head in dismay.

Prosecution NEEDS to make sure the jury understands the terminology. Ask the witnesses to simplify the words... or we may have them trying to use a dictionary!

Opening Statements:

As per Arizona law, the defense presents their opening arguments first during the sentencing phase. Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi described the relationship between Arias and Travis Alexander as one of lust, spirituality, passion, forbidden sex, abuse, and violence. Referring to the relationship as a tale of “infinite sadness,” Nurmi warned jurors that evidence documenting the relationship is violently graphic, preparing them for the photos they were going to see a short time later.

...Nurmi, who told the jury they would hear from Arias herself, cited the 27 stab wounds to Alexander as proof of Arias’ extreme emotional distress in the relationship, and he told the jury the only appropriate sentence was life in prison.

...In response, prosecutor Juan Martinez at the start of his opening statement put up a photograph of Alexander’s neck showing him nearly decapitated, and told jurors “that” was how much Arias loved him. Continuing with that theme, Martinez called Arias a jilted woman, stating that Arias loved Alexander so much that she showed up to his memorial service just days after she killed him.

Prosecutors spent most of afternoon in court in Day Four of Jodi Arias' sentencing retrial trying to prove aggravating factors that could get the convicted killer the death penalty.

Prosecutors are making sure the jury knows about all of the lies told by Arias during her interrogation.

The testimony began and ended with Mesa Police Detective Esteban Flores, who took the stand recalling his interactions with Arias.

I think you expressed how we all feel exactly! Although, as long as she gets the DP I will be okay with not being able to see this part of the sentencing procedure.

I have to say that early on in this phase I was disgusted with the jurors seeming preoccupation with did the gunshot come first...
Jodi has already been found guilty of premeditated first degree murder WITH CRUELTY. It it not the job of this jury to retry the original case!
I don't have a great feeling about this jury at all. I really don't think they will all agree on the DP anymore than the first jury did, but in this case because they didn't hear all the "facts ma'am", and because they seem to be interested in speculating about 'facts' that don't warrant it.

I'm concerned about the questions the jury is asking. They do not seem to understand that her guilt has already been established and their only job is to determine if she is to get the DP. It doesn't make any difference where her sweats were or what came first, the gunshot or the stabbing, etc. I think the prosecution needs to reiterate what they are there to do as soon as possible or the outcome as I see it is looking bleak for a sentence of death.

This is just what I said above too! I agree with you, and I honestly do not see a DP in this case...This jury is definitely getting sidetracked and is NOT getting the message that they are NOT here to second guess or put their stamp of approval on the VERDICT OF FIRST DEGREE PREMEDITATED MURDER WITH CRUELTY!
I am even more angry now at that first jury. It never should have come to this. I love JM, but I think he needs to keep repeating to this jury what their responsibility is and that certain facts have long been established and are not up for discussion or consideration.
I am sad to say that we better all brace ourselves; I don't think any of us are going to like the outcome of this penalty phase re-do...
I am most sad that the Alexander family has to sit through all of this again, and that the outcome still may not be what they have fervently hoped and prayed for.

After watching trials these past few years, I won't even begin to speculate what a verdict would be, not if by jury nor if by judge....

This trial has gone on too long.
Too much latitude was given to the defense, JA was "pandered to" and given her way too many times.... and then, JA turns around and changes her mind. Time and again.

She needed to be in prison clothing to clarify to the jury she IS a prisoner!! She HAS been convicted. Street or prison clothing should not impact the choice of the sentencing. It would only underscore the duty of this jury.

If she takes the stand or not, I am sure Juan will make sure the jury knows she has been convicted.
Maybe, he will emphasis that issue if she is on the stand.
Personally, if I was her atty, I would not want her to take the stand. Not after the phone calls and pics from yesterday. Most in the jury did not like that...
So. If she does not take the stand, Juan will underscore their mission in closing.

Well, I'll tell ya Freckles. I'm sitting here in my own living room all by myself and I'm as red a beet just reading those tweets.

Can anyone tell me what sex has to do with the DP or a life sentence? I have to say if the jury come's back in a deadlock it will be because jurors may be asking themselves that very question.
