Well, I'll tell ya Freckles. I'm sitting here in my own living room all by myself and I'm as red a beet just reading those tweets.

Can anyone tell me what sex has to do with the DP or a life sentence? I have to say if the jury come's back in a deadlock it will be because jurors may be asking themselves that very question.

Excellent point.  This shouldn't have even been used in the first trial, let alone the second.  She's already been convicted, FGS, as others have already pointed out.

What I really don't get is why this is being introduced during the state's case.

IMO Juan should be stressing some points over and over to this jury. Things like:

1.The fact that Travis is NOT some horn dog out for sex; I think the evidence shows that in the beginning he was looking for a wife; for 'the right one' and I definitely got the feeling he initially thought he'd found her in Jodi and possibly was starting to fall in love. He defended her constantly to his friends. It was only after Jodi's true colors started to show that HE PULLED AWAY. He wasn't going after Jodi to use her for sex, he WAS TRYING TO GET HER OUT OF HIS LIFE, so much so that HE WENT AND CONFESSED TO HIS BISHOP, TRYING TO SQUARE HIMSELF AGAIN WITH THE CHURCH. His worst character flaw is that he kept allowing himself to be sucked back into the sex with Jodi who waged a relentless campaign using that because she KNEW that this is a weakness for a lot of young men, (DUH).

2. Juan should bring up as many of the instances of Jodi stalking Travis as possible; The day she invited herself to his home for a party when she was not invited by Travis, the hiding under the Christmas tree, peering in his windows, anonymous threats to his new girlfriend, tire slashing, and any others...If I heard all that I would NOT be thinking mental illness for Jodi, I WOULD BE THINKING THIS WOMAN IS OBSESSED WITH HIM; HE REJECTED HER AND SHE WAS FULL OF RAGE AND PLANNED TO KILL HIM AND MAKE HIM SUFFER WHILE SHE DID IT. (I have always said that if this were reversed and a man did this to a woman who walked out on him, he'd probably have gotten the DP by now...)

3. Lastly, I think it is of supreme importance for Juan to reiterate the last text from Travis to Jodi only DAYS BEFORE THE MURDER when he says 'stay out of my life. stay away. YOU ARE THE WORST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME'.
I think this message shows the struggle Travis was having with himself and that he is not a player callously using Jodi as another notch on his belt, (as Nurmi keeps trying to make the jury believe) but that he was aware of his faults, his own weaknesses, and was trying to get out of a relationship that he KNEW WAS NOT GOOD FOR HIM. Was he 100% successful at the time of his murder? No, but he was trying to break away from Jodi and move on.

I think it also needs to be made clear that THERE ARE NOT, NOR EVER HAS BEEN ANY OTHER ACCUSATION, SUGGESTION, ETC., BY ANYONE ELSE, NOR A SINGLE SHRED OF EVIDENCE OF ANY KIND THAT TRAVIS WAS INTERESTED IN SEXUALLY ABUSING CHILDREN, and that this is a made up story by a manipulative and dangerous woman bent on revenge.
(The men on the jury should be thinking how they would feel if someone falsely accused them of the same).

I am disturbed by some of the really stupid and pointless questions this jury is asking. It seems they are not focused on the only task they are charged to do, but to almost be re-trying the initial case in their minds. Not good.
One of the comments made by one initial jury member when asked why they did not vote for death was that they felt Jodi was "probably" abused by Travis. I hope Juan has gone back to the comments of jurors after the trial to learn what he should be addressing. If this jury sees Jodi, who is already convicted of murder one with cruetly, as a VICTIM, then I THINK WE ARE IN FOR ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT WITH THIS JURY'S DECISION.

Totally agree with you 18th, I'm shaking my head in disbelief about some of the questions being asked by the jury. Bracing myself for the worst outcome for the Alexander family, which would be a tragedy.

I could be wrong but if I remember correctly I don't think her stalking him was allowed in as evidence, which I think it totally wrong. Had it been allowed I would hope that Juan would have pounded it home to the jury.

Just when we thought Jodi Arias had receded into the shadows of notorious sociopathic killers, she has returned for yet another drama-filled narcissistic replay of her depraved indifference to life and humanity.

Judge Stephens who has undermined our criminal justice system through her inept trial management skills, is back on the bench and sitting over this three-ring circus. As I have written before, Judge Stephens bears the most responsibility for losing control of the original trial, and she is well on her way to doing so again.

Think JA is wanting to negotiate a plea or is it to far gone for that?

Tweet reports from earlier stated that media was asked to leave the courtroom and go down to the public overflow room to watch the "next witness" (oh JA, why so shy all of a sudden), and asked all cameras to be removed.  Then they were told they could come back.  Then a media attorney for The Arizona Republic was on his way to "argue" for media to stay, and that is when the lunch break was called.  During all of this, all parties were in chambers discussing.

What a cluster....

ETA: Jodi testifying next looks to be a rumor per other tweets, so I wanted to update this post.

Or is it just that JA wants to be alone with the jury and HER WITNESSESS! Bingo! She has people lined up to speak to the jury on her behalf but they can't do it with Travis' family eyeballing them!!! She does not want the jury distracted from looking ONLY at her but perhaps glancing at Travis' family to check the reactions against the statements!!!!

IMO, JS is getting ready to heap the lies on this jury! Think Violette the Shrink will be back to give statement for JA???

Sounds like Nurmi is testing the system.
The judge's authority is usually limited to the court, her court, unless specified other...
Nurmi would know this while JS might not...
The judge would have to remind people they are still sworn to tell the truth... maybe Nurmi is hoping the judge forgets this little item... and could be grounds for appeals???

You know everyone, in the end, it's really going to be what Juan does that I believe will influence how this all turns out. I think it's BS that this judge is again kowtowing to the defense, allowing the closed courtroom BUT whether there is a closed courtroom or not, in the end Juan will give his closing statement. I believe that can and will make or break this phase. I think that probably most of Jodi's witnesses are kind of 'fringe-y' if you know what I mean, and I think---hope---that they will not impress the jury. (These are the best she could do?)

As I said earlier, Juan needs to clarify and stress some key issues to this jury in the end, as well as point out the lies the defense has propagated. I think that how well he does this will greatly matter to the outcome of this penalty phase.

I'm sick, over the judges decision. What a wuss she has turned out to be.

I don't think it would be LaViolette. I think she was so traumatized by how much mincemeat Juan made of her, and how she became an overnight pariah throughout the whole country. If I were here I would have changed my name and my looks ASAP, lol!!

I suspect the defense is going to have someone with a trumped up lie say or intimate that someone in Jodi's earlier life abused her. Jodi fabricated heinous lies to ruin Travis' reputation and she is completely capable of making up a detailed lie accusing someone else of having permanently scarred her because of abuse...JMO.
