(CNN) -- More than a week has passed since University of Virginia student Hannah Graham disappeared, and police are certain that somebody must know something.

"Somebody's got to know where she is, and we want to know who that person or persons are," Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo told reporters Sunday.

Specifically, authorities want to talk to Jesse Matthew, a man Longo believes was the last person with Graham.

Graham, 18, was last seen September 13 in an area of Charlottesville known as the downtown mall.

Using surveillance video and witness statements, authorities have tracked Graham along the mall, where she was seen walking with a man Longo thinks was Matthew.

(CNN) -- The father of missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham held up his daughter's favorite stuffed rabbit for reporters to see.

It was given to her by one of his friends when she was a baby, and it became her constant companion and friend.

The rabbit disappeared for a few months when Graham was around 3, he said, but eventually was found and returned.

"All we want to do now is to bring Hannah home safely, and I appeal to anybody who knows anything -- please, please help us," John Graham said Sunday.

More than a week has passed since his daughter disappeared, and police are certain that somebody must know something.

"Somebody's got to know where she is, and we want to know who that person or persons are," said Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. —The parents of missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham said Sunday that they are holding out hope for their daughter’s safe return but fear that her disappearance was the result of “foul play.”

In an interview in this college town, John and Sue Graham said they believe their daughter, an 18-year-old sophomore from Fairfax County, may still be alive.

“Our focus is in getting Hannah home,” John Graham said. “It’s still not impossible that Hannah had an accident and she’s waiting for us to come help her. But I suspect that’s unlikely. If she’s a victim of foul play, then someone perpetrated it, and we want to prevent that person or persons from doing it again.”

The ‘person of interest’ in the case of missing UVA student Hannah Graham admits that he bought her drinks but denies he drove off with her in his car, MailOnline can reveal exclusively.

Jesse ‘LJ’ Matthew has confirmed he met the 18-year-old in Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall on the night she went missing and bought her drinks at a local bar.

But Matthew, a nursing assistant at UVA Hospital, told his mother that Hannah did not get into his car and that the pair ‘went their separate ways.'

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  A man seen with a University of Virginia student before she disappeared was being sought Sunday on arrest warrants charging him with reckless driving, police announced at a news conference.

Virginia State Police issued the warrants for Jesse Matthew on Saturday after he left the Charlottesville Police Department's station, authorities said. Matthew came to the station with several family members and asked for a lawyer, they said. He was provided with a lawyer and left in a vehicle, driving at a high rate of speed that endangered other drivers, Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said, adding Matthew was at the station for about an hour.

Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon. My name is John Graham. I am Hannah’s father. This is Sue, Hannah’s mother, and my wife.

As this nightmare for Hannah, for us, for Hannah’s big brother James, for her grandparents and extended family continues, Sue and I would like to make this statement.

We have been utterly overwhelmed by the generosity of spirit of everybody we have met this week, and many more besides whom we’ve been unable to meet. We understand that over 1000 volunteers took part in yesterday’s search and a similar number of wonderful people are out today looking for Hannah. Sue and I were out searching: so were some of our work colleagues, friends and neighbors from our home and Hannah’s friends from high school and softball team.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Tuesday afternoon a helicopter searched the area outside of McGrady’s Irish Pub where 18-year-old Hannah Graham was last spotted on surveillance video, at 12:46 a.m. Saturday.

Graham, a second year University of Virginia student, can be seen on the street alone and headed in the opposite direction of her apartment, police said.

“I’ve been trying not to cry about it,” said Kristin who lives nearby.

Police in Virginia, are continuing their search for a person of interest in the disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham after a "bizarre" series of events that resulted in him fleeing authorities, police chief Timothy Longo said on TODAY Monday.

Longo believes Jesse Matthew, 32, is the last person who had contact with Graham. He has not been charged in her disappearance, but a warrant has been issued for his arrest on charges of reckless driving after he sped away from police on Saturday.

ne of the last times Hannah Graham was seen, it was early Saturday, Sept. 13, and a camera outside a gas station in Charlottesville, Virginia, briefly filmed her walking, then running. A few minutes before, Graham, a second-year student at the University of Virginia, was seen talking to a man outside McGrady’s Pub, a bar not far from campus; shortly after 1 a.m., she sent a text message to a friend: she was lost. Then, the eighteen-year-old vanished.

In the days after, Graham's disappearance has rattled the small Virginia community, leaving residents, friends and family to wonder — What happened to Hannah? Here’s what we know so far.

Who is Hannah Graham?

Graham went to high school in Northern Virginia, at West Potomac. Relatives and people who knew Graham described her as a resilient and responsible young woman — a thoughtful student who liked to ski, loved Starburst candy and played the alto saxophone. Graham “was very diligent with everything she did, and always did everything exactly by the book,” as Stephen Rice, a band director at West Potomac, put it in an interview with NBC Washington. “Hannah is not the kind of kid that would just go on a road trip and disappear.”

Graham is 5-foot-11; she has blue eyes, light brown hair and freckles, and on Saturday night, she was wearing black pants and a crop top. Before disappearing, she had attended an off-campus party.

Hannah Graham Searchers Return to Jesse Matthew's Apartment

A new warrant was issued today to carry out a second search of the apartment belonging to a man who police say was the last person to be seen with missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham.

Charlottesville police carrying out the search were seen today at the apartment of Jesse Matthew.

Matthew is not charged in connection with Graham's disappearance, but after speeding driving away from a police station on Sunday cops issued a warrant for his arrest for dangerous driving.

According to public records, Matthew was involved in 22 incidents between 1999 and 2007, the majority of which were related to some kind of traffic violations ranging from failure to wear a seatbelt to failure to yield or obey stop signs. He was found guilty in six of those incidents, guilty in absentia in nine cases, prepaid dismissal in five, not guilty or acquitted in one and an undetermined verdict in another.

IMO, after watching the vids several times, I alert on the white guy who excites the bar, looks behind hims, steps behind a rack of merchandise, peers around the rack several times to eye the door of the bar, and then falls in step BEHIND Hannah. He follows her down the street a distance.

When questioned, he immediately says he was ONLY concerned for Hannah as she was "acting weird" in the bar.... huh?
How do people usually act in a bar?
Why would he HIDE and wait outside a bar for JUST Hannah to walk past before FOLLOWING her without her notice?
No greeting apparent. No conversation exchanged. Nothing like, "May I help you?"

Why Hannah when others were also walking past?
Something happened inside the bar.
Was she slipped a date rape drug?

Mr. White guy also threw everything at Mr. Dredlocks... who entered the bar AFTER Mr. White guy was outside, hidden, and waiting for Hannah...

IMO, it seems someone leaked to Mr. White guy there was a vid showing Mr. Dredlocks and Mr. White guy regurgitated the story.....

(CNN) -- A new search warrant was issued Monday for the apartment of Jesse Matthew, who police believe was the last person to see Hannah Graham before her disappearance.

The Charlottesville Police Department has also issued a wanted poster for the 32-year-old Matthew, saying he is wanted for two counts of reckless driving.

At the bottom of the poster, however, it says police would like to speak with Matthew regarding Graham's disappearance.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - In a second search of the home of the man believed to be the last person seen with a missing University of Virginia student, officials said they took pieces of clothing, but they would not elaborate on the importance of the items Tuesday.

...Police have said they hope to receive lab results late Tuesday from items recovered during the initial searches, and authorities are still trying to locate the campus employee to arrest him on reckless driving charges.

CHARLOTTESVILLE — Police are asking property owners in this city and throughout nearby rural Albemarle County to look for any signs of missing U-Va. student Hannah Graham, hoping that they can locate her after nearly two weeks of searching.

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — A man charged with abducting a missing University of Virginia sophomore has been captured in Texas and is awaiting extradition — but there is still no sign of the student, authorities said.

On Thursday morning, Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr., 32, appeared briefly before a Galveston County judge via a video link from jail to hear the charges against him. In Texas, he's charged with being a fugitive from justice and with giving false information to an officer, in addition to a count of abduction with intent to defile in Virginia. Judge Mark Henry set bond at $1,500 on the false information charge but held Matthew without bond on the fugitive count.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The owner of a restaurant where a missing U.Va. student was reportedly last seen said his staff told police the teen could "barely walk" when she left with the man suspected of abducting her.

The account of Hannah Graham's actions the morning she vanished given by Tempo Restaurant owner Brice Cunningham differed slightly from that offered by police. Cunningham told the AP on Thursday that Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr. briefly entered the bar in the early morning hours of Sept. 13, where credit card records show he ordered what appeared to be two beers before rejoining the teenager outside.

However, Graham "was not seen and she was not served" inside the restaurant, Cunningham said.

Gilchrist, Texas (CNN) -- Jesse Matthew, a suspect in the disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, was questioned in connection with an alleged sexual assault nearly 12 years ago, authorities said Thursday.

However, no charges were filed because the woman didn't want to go forward with the case and investigators determined there wasn't enough evidence to arrest Matthew, said Michael Doucette, the commonwealth's attorney for Lynchburg, Virginia.

According to a statement from Lynchburg police, a woman reported she was raped on the campus of Liberty University on October 17, 2002.

Matthew told authorities that the woman consented, Doucette said, adding that there were no witnesses.

A woman who went to a beach in Galveston, Texas, to relax instead helped police catch the suspect charged in the disappearance of a University of Virginia student.

The woman, who identified herself to ABC News station KTRK in Houston as Karen, said she recognized Jesse Matthew from wanted posters related to the Hannah Graham case.

"I instantly knew it was him," she said. "It was frightening."



A woman who identified herself as Karen says she called police in Galveston, Texas, after seeing Jesse Matthew Jr., 32, camped out on the beach on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. He was wanted in connection with the disappearance of Hannah Graham.

Of course he would say she was not seen or served inside the restaurant. If he were to admit she was seen/served in the bar, he would pay hefty fines and possibly lose his liquor license. Let's see the vids from inside the restaurant. Please.

Actually, the vids do NOT show him meeting or associating with her outside the restaurant! They show the white male who hid behind the merchandize racks, peered around the corner until she appeared, and then show him following her down the sidewalk. In the meantime, just before he hid behind the rack, Matthew passes close to the camera going into the restaurant.

Things do not add up! Either more info needs to be released or this is a set up.
I don't have enough info on the earlier rape accusations to even comment or consider how they might apply.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — More than two weeks after Hannah Graham vanished without a trace, there is still no sign of the missing University of Virginia student.

Hopes remain high on campus as specialized crews from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management search areas throughout Central Virginia, including rural parts of Albemarle County.

Professional investigative search crews canvassed areas on Route 29 in southern Albemarle County on Sunday.

Crews using search dogs and ATVs to reach remote areas searching for any clues, including possibly any torn clothing as well as for misplaced tire tracks or abandoned sheds.

And of course officials want people who saw Jesse Matthew, the man arrested on abduction with the intent to defile, the weekend Graham disappeared to come forward.

Please understand: I am not going to say JM was not complicit in her disappearance, etc.. I will say I have not seen the evidence linking her disappearance to JM. As for his past, that was a "Johnny-come-lately" comment offered almost as if to bolster the accusations rather than laying a foundation for a pattern of prior behavior.

I want this resolved but I want it honest.

As I stated several times above, from viewing the vids, there is NOTHING there showing JM had contact with her.
There IS evidence the white guy who left the bar, hid behind the rack, followed her; reported he was just "concerned" with her well being, had "noticed" she was acting weird (and NO ONE else reported this!!!)
has a larger hand in this than is being reported.

Further, the last set of pics show JM just hours before INSIDE the bar. He is wearing a blue colored and patterned shirt. The image of the man walking in front of the camera purportedly to be JM is wearing what appears to be a flowing white unpatterned shirt.... Could this pics/vids be from other dates and times??? They do not add up.....

WASHINGTON, September 27, 2014 — What we know is that on that Friday evening, Hannah Graham, like many other college students, spent the beginning of her weekend at local parties.



The first party was at the Grand Marc Apartments, an off campus complex where many UVA students live.

Hannah walked to the end of the Grand Marc Apartment complex turning left onto Sadler St where at the corner of Sadler and 14th St she went into the Camden Plaza Apartments for the second party of the night.

The walk was only .1 mile and would have taken only about 3 minutes. The walk would be along a streetlight lit sidewalk and past additional apartments.

Suspect in Hannah Graham Disappearance Tied to 2009 Murder, Police Say

A forensic connection has been made between the disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham and the 2009 murder of a student in Charlottesville.

Virginia State police announced today that the suspect who has been arrested in connection to Graham's disappearance has some physical connection to the death of Morgan Harrington. Harrington was a student at Virginia Tech who disappeared after attending a Metallica concert in Charlottesville near the University of Virginia in 2009.

...If the forensic evidence that connects the two cases holds true, there is likely another victim linked to the suspect. Police investigating Harrington's death in 2009 determined that DNA on her body connected the perpetrator to a 2005 abduction and rape of a woman in Fairfax, Va.

"The restaurant where missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham and Jesse Matthew allegedly went shortly before she disappeared could face legal trouble if it is confirmed that she drank there.

Surveillance footage from neighboring restaurants and witness testimony places 18-year-old Graham and 32-year-old Matthew in Tempo Restaurant in Charlottesville, Virginia, shortly after 1 a.m. on Sept. 13, according to police. But the owner said that none of the staff saw her inside.

The allegations could be very detrimental to the restaurant. Virginia's Department of Alcohol Beverage Control classifies serving someone underage a Class 1 misdemeanor that can be punishable by up to a year in prison and a possible $2,500 fine. ...."

(CNN) -- DNA evidence links Jesse Matthew, a suspect in this month's disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, to the death of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, who disappeared in 2009, a law enforcement source told CNN Monday. And state authorities are checking other unsolved homicide and missing person cases for possible connections.

...Matthew will have a bond hearing on Thursday.

In addition, authorities said they are studying other unsolved homicide and missing person cases in Virginia: In Campbell County, the sheriff's office is investigating a possible link to the case of Cassandra Morton, whose body was found in a wooded area near Lynchburg in November 2009; in Orange, police are checking for possible ties to the missing person case of Samantha Ann Clarke, who was last seen September 13, 2010; and in Montgomery County, the sheriff's office is looking for possible links to the unsolved 2009 shooting deaths of two Virginia Tech students, Heidi Childs and David Metzler.

Drone used in search for missing U. of Virginia student Hannah Graham

Charlottesville, Virginia (CNN) -- The search for missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham now includes the use of an aerial drone -- the first time, according to authorities, one has been used in the search for a missing person in the state.

The addition of the drone to the seach effort comes more than two weeks after Graham disappeared from an area of Charlottesville known as the Downtown Mall.

The drone has a high-quality camera, and it will "look closer" at objects of interest, said John Coggin, chief engineer of the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership and one of the members of the team operating the drone.

UVA Abduction Suspect Jesse Matthew Accused of Sexual Assault While At College

The suspect charged with abducting University of Virginia student Hannah Graham was accused of sexual assault while at college, according to a report the school released today.

Christopher Newport University made public a "criminal incident information" report that stated Jesse Matthew was investigated for an alleged sexual assault on campus that occurred Sept. 7, 2003.

The school said in a statement that it initially declined to release the report, but said, "The success of the criminal investigation is paramount at this time. The university has consulted with the Virginia State Police again today, and we are now releasing the following non-exempt 'criminal incident information.'"

The report said the alleged sexual assault took place on the school's campus and was investigated the university police's Capt. Scott Austin. No injuries were reported in connection to the alleged assault, the report said.
