Search launched in Shreveport for missing 6-year-old boy

SHREVEPORT, La - Shreveport Police are seeking the whereabouts of a child missing since mid Friday afternoon from a west Shreveport home.
Just after 6:45 p.m. on September 13, 2013, Shreveport Police responded to a home located in the 9000 block of Lone Oak Drive.
Upon officers arrival, contact was made with the reporting party who advised six year old Matthew Edwin Monie was missing and had not been seen since 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon when he last seen playing in the home's front yard.
A search of the area did not yield the child and authorities are concerned for his welfare.
Matthew Monie is described as a white male child with brown hair and brown eyes, standing approximately three feet five inches tall and weighing roughly forty-six pounds.
Monie was last seen wearing school uniform attire which consisted of khaki pants and a red colored polo style shirt.
Monie was also wearing blue and yellow colored tennis shoes.

The family of missing 6-year-old Matthew Edwin Monie has spent Saturday posting flyers featuring the boy in hopes someone can help him return home. Matthew hasn't been seen since he vanished from the front lawn of his West Shreveport home Friday afternoon around 4 PM. Police have leads in the case but won't release details. Matthew's family has come forward to talk about the disappearance and have their own beliefs into the case.
"Matthew was playing outside. I was working on my truck. I finished my truck, went to put supper out, came back out ten minutes later and he was gone," Shane Rogers said. Rogers says that's the last time he saw Matthew.
He's not the boy's biological father. Rogers says he was granted custody of the 6-year-old just this year but has been a part of Matthew's life since he was two. Rogers also says there has been a custody dispute.
"His father was over here a couple of weeks ago and tried to get him," Rogers said. "The police showed him the documents. They told him to go to court. He went to the police department yesterday morning. They denied to come over and get him."

Matthew Edwin Monie, the missing 6-year-old from Shreveport, was found safe and unharmed in Texas Sunday afternoon.
Shreveport police say he was in the company of his biological father Matthew Monie, 45, at a home in Ore City. Upshur Sheriff's Office arrested Monie at the location on an outstanding warrant for interference with the custody of a child. He was taken into custody with help from the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force. Matthew Edwin was found uninjured and placed in the custody of child welfare officials.
Monie will be extradited back to Shreveport where he'll face charges. His bond has been set at $500,000. Police point out this is not the end of the investigation into Matthew's disappearance.

Rogers is Matthew Edwin's step-father. He was granted custody of his ex-wife's son only earlier this year. Rogers says the boy's mother isn't involved in his life and that his father tried to take him back before the disappearance.

Shreveport, LA (KETK) — A child reported missing last week in west Shreveport has been located safe and sound in East Texas.
The child, Matthew Edwin Monie, 6, went missing on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the 9000 block of Loan Oak Drive.
On Sunday, Shreveport Police investigators were contacted by Upshur County Sheriff's officials regarding the arrest of a man who was in connection with the disappearance of Matthew Edwin Monie.
The man, Matthew Monie, 45, was arrested at a home located in Ore City, Texas.
At the time of Monie's arrest he was accompanied by the minor child, Matthew Edwin Monie, who was recovered uninjured.
Monie was arrested with the help of officials from the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force.
