SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Officials are asking for the public’s help finding a 22-year-old woman, reported missing in San Bernardino.

Sahray Astina Barber was last seen leaving for work around 6 a.m. Monday from her home in the 1500 block of West Northpark Boulevard, across the street from the Cal State San Bernardino campus, the San Bernardino Police Department reported.

Her disappearance is especially alarming given that there were three attacks on women at the CSUSB campus last week. Those attacks included an attempted rape and an attempted abduction.

“We are concerned, because those things have happened in a very close proximity here,” San Bernardino Police Lt. Rich Lawhead said.

Sahray Barber Missing Amid Fears Of Campus Attacker



Police in San Bernardino are looking for Sahray Barber. The 22-year-old woman has been missing for longer than three days now, after she was last seen leaving her apartment on her way to work on Monday morning. KTLA News reports that police have deemed her case a suspicious disappearance. However, there has been no evidence to indicate that she is the victim of foul play. Nonetheless, the recent crime surrounding the area where she vanished creates reason for concern.

Family of Sahray Barber said she may have been wearing this shirt when she disappeared.

There was no sign of a struggle in the disappearance of a woman from an apartment complex near Cal State San Bernardino earlier this week, police said Wednesday.

Sahray Barber, 22, has been missing since Monday morning, when she was expected to take a bus to her job at The Art Institute, but never showed up.

Several of Barber’s belongings were found in some bushes near the front gate of her apartment building in the 1500 block of West Northpark Boulevard (map), but there did not appear to be any indication of a struggle, according to Lt. Rich Lawhead of the San Bernardino Police Department.



CSUSB police released a sketch of a man wanted in connection with two assaults on campus.

SAN BERNARDINO >> Sahray Barber’s classmates know her as the nice librarian who regularly wore a green cape.

On Friday night, a couple hundred people attended a candlelight vigil for Barber — who went missing Monday — outside The Art Institute of California, Inland Empire, where she went to school and worked.

Keith Vines met Barber at the library and the two developed a friendship over the past year or so.

“She was a cool girl, down to earth, pretty quiet,” Vines said at the vigil.

Police are questioning two 'persons of interest' after a student vanished in 'suspicious circumstances a week ago.

Sahray Barber was last seen by her roommates on March 9 as she left her home for the Art Institute of California in San Bernardino.

The 22-year-old was reported missing after her cellphone and laptop were found in bushes near her apartment at West Northpark Boulevard.

Detectives have now revealed they are investigating two people following the disappearance of the student.

Rich Lawhead of San Bernardino police said yesterday that he could not release the names of the 'persons of interest' in the case because of the ongoing investigation.

SAN BERNARDINO: Father to make plea for return of missing daughter

The father of missing art student Sahray Astina Barber plans to make a public plea Monday, March 16, for her return.

Stephen Barber is expected to speak at noon outside the San Bernardino Police Department station.

Sahray Barber is a graphic design student at the Art Institute of California-Inland Empire who lives across the street from Cal State San Bernardino.

She has been missing since March 9, when her cellphone and laptop were found in bushes near her apartment.

SAN BERNARDINO >> Sahray Barber is an affectionate person with many friends and no enemies, her father said today on the one-week anniversary of her disappearance, calling on anyone with information to come forward.

So far, Stephen Barber said, the hard work of police and the outpouring of prayers and help for the family has made a grueling situation manageable.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- Police say there was no criminal aspect to the disappearance of Sahray Barber, the San Bernardino art student who was found safe after going missing for more than a week.

The 22-year-old was last seen March 9 after leaving her apartment near the Cal State San Bernardino campus. Her laptop and cellphone were found in the bushes nearby.

Police spoke with persons of interest and spent thousands of dollars and resources in their search. Family and friends held vigils, pleading for her safe return.

"I can tell you without divulging her privacy, she had some stuff going on in her life, and she's asked for that to be private," San Bernardino Police Lt. Rich Lawhead said.

Rather than work it out, she decided to "run away" from the issues on the home front. What I don't get is the report of her personal items found tossed into bushes or about the outside of her property....
