I'm confused (again). Why would defense bring up the DNA on the gum again. I know that the point was that it could be transferred and that's why the shell casing may have his DNA on it. However, I thought during the prosecution CIC the point was made that DNA could be transferred. I just thought its driving home the point that the shell casing and the car and Hernandez are all tied together. I guess they should be glad I am not on the jury because I don't think this had the desired effect on me.

Expert on PCP use testifies in Aaron Hernandez trial

FALL RIVER — Lawyers for Aaron Hernandez called an expert witness Monday to testify about the effects of PCP use on human behavior, in an effort to suggest that a co-defendant of the former New England Patriots star may have killed Odin Lloyd in a drug-induced state.

Dr. David J. Greenblatt, a pharmacologist who teaches at Tufts University School of Medicine, testified that PCP use can at times cause “violent or aggressive behavior.” The testimony is crucial for the defense, since two alleged accomplices in Lloyd’s slaying, Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz, have been linked to PCP use around the time of the murder.

But Bristol County prosecutor Patrick Bomberg hit hard against Greenblatt’s testimony, noting that Greenblatt could not say for sure whether he ever had a patient who was a PCP user.

Bomberg also played video clips of Wallace and Ortiz arriving at Hernandez’s home in the hours before the murder, and clips of all three men returning to the residence minutes after the slaying. In all the footage, the men appear to be calmly walking around the property.

Greenblatt told Bomberg he could not tell if anyone in the footage showed signs of PCP psychosis. He said violent behavior tied to PCP use could be “controlled or uncontrolled.”

The prosecution didn't order a DNA test to see whose DNA was in the chewing gum.
