I truly appreciate all your kind words!
Hi Amanda! Ann had told me she loved that song as well. Emma was a beautiful, precious child. I was honored to do it. I want everyone to remember Emma and hopefully it will generate more donations for the sick children at St. Jude in Emma's honor.

Of course I don't mind, Ann! I am just reminded of what a beautiful, happy and loved child Emma was until a monster was let in the door.

RE: Emma Thompson
Piper of Reality Chatter created another memorial video for Emma Thompson. There are a few new pictures that Ben Thompson, Emma’s dad, so kindly shared with Piper for the video.
One of the pics is of Emma in her little apron with Emma on it. She is making cookies. Ben would use to make cookies with Emma and her sisters.
Also, there are pics of Emma as a baby. One is of her on the floor near the Christmas tree and gifts.
Piper put a lot of thought into the video. Emma liked feeding the ducks when her dad took her to the park; Piper included an angel picture with ducks.
We have been told Emma’s favorite color was pinky-purple, as she called it (lavender). An angel picture with lavender flowers is included.
Emma loved yellow butterflies; Piper included a pic with yellow butterflies and a beautiful angel with a butterfly.
It is a very beautiful video and I think Piper did an awesome job in remembering precious Emma in a very special way!
If you are interested in this beautiful “Memory of Emma Thompson” video, you can see it on Emma’s thread at Reality Chatter – Page 30. The Link below will take you directly to Page 30.

Here’s a new video I created in memory of precious Emma…

Reality Chatter Emma Thompson — Deceased 6-27-09
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for caring about precious Emma, who died a brutal, horrific death at barely age 4.
Emma’s mother, Abigail Young, a Registered Nurse at the time, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison and is eligible for parole in 5 years! Too bad the jury did not find her guilty of the first degree felony charge because she is the one who brought Lucas Coe into her home and he babysitted Emma many times per trial testimony!
Young’s boyfriend at the time, Lucas R. Coe, has been sentenced to Life in Prison without Parole. He will never, ever be eligible for parole!
Young and Coe were both fined $10,000 each during their Punishment Phase.
The trial attorneys for Young and Coe immediately filed “Notice for Appeal.” Within days Young and Coe’s Appellate attorney(s) filed the Appeal with the Fourteenth Court of Appeals in Houston, Harris County, Tx.
Ann, thank you so much for posting that on Val's site. I have great respect for Valhall and her site. You have no idea how much I appreciated the pictures from Emma's daddy, Ben. He was so very gracious and appreciative. I hope thousands of people will view the video, never forget precious Emma and all the other little angels that are gone too soon. Donating to St. Jude also helps the precious sick children that are suffering, do it in honor of little Emma. We also need to bring awareness to changes that need to be made so this never happens again to another innocent child.
Hi, Piper! You welcome! I think it was so very kind of Ben, Emma's daddy, to share the pictures with you so you could make the beautiful video in memory of Emma and to let all, who view it, know about the account at St. Jude's in memory of Emma.Piper wrote:Ann, thank you so much for posting that on Val's site. Yes, I hope thousands donate to St. Jude's in memory of Emma Thompson! What a wonderful way to remember Emma . . . . a donation would help so many children in desperate need of medical care.
I hope Emma will be remembered, by many, forever! I know I will never forget her!
Piper, yes awareness of Emma's brutal, horrific death needs to be brought to the attention of our lawmakers and to parents . . . . . your child is your responsibility to protect! Please do not put your innocent, defenseless child in a position where he or she could be abused by any one!
In my opinion, no man or woman would ever be more important to me than my own child. I can not even imagine how Abigail Young put Lucas Coe first in her life over her own precious child, Emma! Like the prosecutors said . . . . Abigail Young cared more for Lucas Coe than she cared for her own daughter, Emma!
And what a loser Coe was when Young hooked up with him: . . . . limited education - high school drop out;
no job; no residence; long criminal history; charges pending against him in Montgomery County; owed a huge amount of money in restitution; drug problem per testimony from a former girl friend, etc.
Coe was such a loser that he did not even have a piece of luggage. His brother-in-law testified that Coe would carry his personal belongings around in a laundry basket! Strange for a man in his late 20's!
Abigail Young chose Coe and all of his "attributes" over the protection of her precious child, Emma!
The Memorial video of precious Emma is beautiful. She was such a beautiful baby and what a precious child.
Emma had such a spark and there are a few pictures that captured it, you can see it in the look on her face! I'll bet she had a delightful sense of humor and a way of being amazed by things many people never even see. That is what I see, when I look at her pictures. A very special spirit.
It is tragic that she was stolen from her family. I continue to pray for the Thompson and Young families - so gracious of Emma's daddy Ben, to share pictures of her.
Hi LCoastMom! I felt so very privileged that Ben shared the baby pictures and Emma making cookies in her little apron with me for the video. I don't want Emma to ever be forgotten. I don't want this to happen to another child. I also hoped to bring more awareness to the fund at St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of Emma, and her great-grandfather that recently passed. Emma would have wanted to help the sick children, I believe. This family has been through pure hell and we all wish them peace and comfort.
I see a special spirit in her as well. I can only imagine what a sweet, sweet child she was. I'll bet she had an adorable giggle and a laugh that would melt one's heart!
Through The Eyes Of a Child
To enjoy the wind and the moon and the stars, and with a soul that has not gained any scars.
To see the beauty in all that we touch, to see through the eyes of a child, would mean so much.........
This is a beautiful poem:
Hi, Piper!
Thank you for posting the Link to the beautiful poem! I just love that site!
Emma must have enjoyed being in the kitchen making cookies . . . . she had her own little apron with Emma on it.
Yes, Piper, it was very nice of Ben to share the photos of Emma with you so you could make the beautiful tribute video in memory of precious Emma.
I, like you, will never ever forget Emma. Her pictures indicate a happy child. Pictures are worth a thousand words!
I just did a Public Info Inquiry on Lucas Coe at the Harris County Jail and it indicates he is not there.
Maybe Coe has been moved to Montgomery County Jail if they decided to prosecute him for the case pending in that county. Or . . .maybe he has been moved to prison! Will check it out.
Hello, Piper!
You welcome re the updates! Maybe next week I'll get a chance to do a few inquiries about Coe and Young. We can not lose them on our radar screen. Right, Piper?
I rarely watch Jane Velez Mitchell any longer. However, her show for this past Thursday and Friday was titled:
Every Parent`s Nightmare: Surviving Parents Take Action
I was not available to watch it Thursday but I did watch it yesterday. It was a real good show.
Some of the guests were: Mark Lunsford (Jessica's dad), Diena Thompson (Somer's mom), Ed Smart (Elizabeth's dad), Erin Runnion (Samantha's mom) and Ahmad Rivazfar (daughters were raped).
You can see the pain and hurt of all of these parents who became a member of a club no one would like to join! I followed Somer's case closely, as well as some of the others, and I feel so sorry for Diena. Out of all of the guests, she is the newest "member."
If I am not mistaken, Elizabeth Smart will be testifying soon at her kidnapper's trial.
If you get a chance, please read the JVM transcript. Mark Lunsford is so right on about the legislators. There was a young lady (a victim when she was younger) that was with Mark Lunsford at an event. She testified in Washington DC in front of a Congressional Committee.
I think it is wonderful that these parents are making the effort to bring child abuse/missing/murder to the forefront. I know it is something I would do. My child would never, ever be forgotten.
I wonder if there is a video of JVM's show. Here is the Link to the transcript for Friday's show:
You welcome re the updates! Maybe next week I'll get a chance to do a few inquiries about Coe and Young. We can not lose them on our radar screen. Right, Piper?
I rarely watch Jane Velez Mitchell any longer. However, her show for this past Thursday and Friday was titled:
Every Parent`s Nightmare: Surviving Parents Take Action
I was not available to watch it Thursday but I did watch it yesterday. It was a real good show.
Some of the guests were: Mark Lunsford (Jessica's dad), Diena Thompson (Somer's mom), Ed Smart (Elizabeth's dad), Erin Runnion (Samantha's mom) and Ahmad Rivazfar (daughters were raped).
Ann, there is a thread about JVM's show in the Missing/Murdered section under Announcement & Sticky. I cant remember at this moment, but I'm sure if the video isn't already posted, J4A will come up with it soon.....
Hi Ann
Glad to see Coe is where he belongs. Were you ever able to determine why AY has a possible release date of 10/12?
I have checked the site occasionally hoping it was an error - since it has not been changed, it appears not to be. We all read the same articles that said she was not eligible until she had served 5 years.
Does the 10/12 date reflect credit for time served in county jail plus "credit for good behavior" assuming she will be on good behavior at the state prison?
TIA - LCMom
Hi Piper
You're welcome - both videos are so precious.
I have a friend looking into the 10/12 date - she is calling Colleen again - if I hear back, before Ann finds what's up, I'll drop a note. That time line hit me suddenly - like a punch in the gut.
I checked the Emma / St Jude site, there's a "thank you" message and it seems there is a glitch preventing all of the contributions from being listed - I asked and got a reply from St Jude saying my donation went to Emma's fund. That's all I cared about.
Hi, LCoastMom!
Yes, Coe was moved out of the Harris County Jail rather quickly and that is good. I am not sure but I think he is at a Transitional unit and will be moved elsewhere within TDC after his transition period.
I did receive a return call from the DA's office while my husband was in the hospital. Unfortunately, I could not return it at that time. I am now playing telephone tag.
One morning before Coe's trial resumed, I inquired (to the Prosecutors) about Young's parole hearing. I was seeking various info. Colleen Barnett, one of the Prosecutors, did tell me and a friend that was with me that day, that Abigail Young will have to serve five years before she will be eligible for parole. It was also stated in some of the Houston media articles.
So . . . if anyone has spoken to someone in the Harris County District Attorney's Office or at TDCJ about Young's "indicated" parole eligibility date, please hop on board and share the info.
Hopefully, one day soon I will connect with a source that can clarify the info in question.
LCoast, Young does get credit for time served in the Harris County Jail. She was not in Harris County Jail very long. If you recall, she was out on bond as she awaited trial.
She was taken into custody after she was found guilty at her trial. Until she was moved to the custody of TDCJ, she was in Harris County Jail since July 12, 2010.
I will post an article with video in a few minutes that very briefly shows her being taken into custody.
I am going to post an article regarding Abigail Young being found guilty. It is an excellent article with video.
Towards the end of the video (maybe around 2:30), for a split second you can see the Baliff (Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy) pointing. Just a few feet away is the door that leads to the holding cell for the Court Room. The Deputy was indicating for Young to go through the door. She was in the process of being taken into the custody of the Harris County Sheriff's Office - Jail.
The tears you see Young shedding are not for her precious child, Emma Thompson. Those tears are for herself. Just my opinion!
Mom found guilty in death of daughter
Monday July 12, 2010
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- After just a few hours of deliberation, the jury has returned a verdict in the trial of a woman accused of doing nothing while her young daughter was fatally abused by her boyfriend at the time.
Abigail Young was found guilty of causing injury to a child by omission, but the jury found that she did so recklessly rather than knowingly and intentionally. It was a lesser charge and carries with it a sentence of two to 20 years behind bars, instead of a possible life sentence she faced on the more serious charge.
The lesser charge was a big shock to the prosecution.
"The jury took our case very seriously, but we're disappointed in the verdict," said Harris County Assistant District Attorney Colleen Barnett. "Certainly, we can see evidence ourselves of when a kid is hurt or injured, and not only did she not tell anybody she recognized that as abuse, but she covered it up. And I think that says volumes about her, not only as a mother but as a person."
Young collapsed in tears and was audibly sobbing when the verdict was read in court Monday afternoon. The verdict was a relief for the defense.
LCoast,
I made my donation via telephone (credit card). I received a very nice thank you from St. Jude's in memory of Emma.
They indicated the Account Number and Emma's full name.
My charge appeared on my October, 2010 credit card statement.
Hi, Piper! Yes, I hope there are a lot of donations being made to St. Jude's in memory of Emma. I think it is a wonderful way to remember Emma.
I do know that numerous folks in the Washington County, Tx and surrounding areas did make a donation to their favorite charity or to their church in memory of Emma. This was done before I had the info available about St. Jude's.
I hope the folks that see the videos on YouTube, which you so kindly and lovingly made in memory of Emma, will make a contribution also.
Piper, that is the wonderful aspect of having videos on YouTube. Besides the beautiful tribute/in memory, it increases the chance of donations being made to St. Jude's to honor Emma.
Piper, with what few pictures you have of Emma, maybe you could try to make a special video in memory of Emma for Christmas. I know it would be the same pictures used again but you could use fillers.
Although you do not need my ideas, I will PM you with some ideas regarding fillers since you have limited pictures of Emma.
At least Emma has two "In Memory/Tribute" videos on YouTube. . . . . special thanks to you!
There are so many beautiful videos posted in memory of some of the other murdered or missing children. Good examples: Caylee Anthony and Haleigh Cummings!
Hi, Piper!
Hopefully, one day this week, I will PM you with my ideas and we can try to decide on a song.
I think a Santa Claus, snowman, Christmas tree, gifts, baby Jesus (since Christmas is the birth of Jesus) would make good fillers. I will think of more later.
Amanda, if you or any of Emma's family or friends, are reading here, what was one of Emma's favorite Christmas songs?
Do you have any suggestions for our fillers? You have seen Piper's two videos made in honor of Emma. Those are the pictures Piper will have to use. Do you have any suggestions for fillers?
Christy, Emma's neighbor, if you are reading here, I bet you could make some suggestions. We would really appreciate it!
To anyone reading here, thanks in advance for any suggestions or ideas. Please PM me or Piper.
BBM - Thanks Ann, I had forgotten that she was out on bail all that time. Still waiting, my friend, has also played phone tag. She had spoken with the DA's office twice before - so I'm going to sit tight rather than give them another message / number to respond to.
Today I spoke with a representative of the Harris County District Clerk's Office, Houston, Harris County, Texas. I made several inquiries.
For your info and primarily for folks living in or near the greater Houston area, transcripts, motions etc. can be viewed at the Harris County District Clerk's Office (DCO).
They can be viewed in a public open area of the DCO's Office. This is to ensure staff can see you and nothing "walks."
Regarding Abigail Young's records, they are currently checked out and probably won't be available until all briefs are filed.
Regarding Lucas Coe's trial transcript, etc., it should be available for viewing later this month.
Being that Coe's appellate attorney has filed an appeal with the Fourteenth Court of Appeals, Harris County, Tx, I would think his records will be scarce when they become available.
Since I was unable to attend Young's trial, I do plan to read the transcript. It may be January or February, 2011 before that happens.
Hi, LCoastMom!
Thank you for the info about Coe being transferred. It appears he is being moved quickly through his transition into TDCJ.
For those not familiar with Texas prisons, when an inmate, such as Coe, is moved from a county jail to Texas Department of Criminal Justice (prison), there is a transition process which includes evaluations. The inmate may be moved to several units within the State of Texas before a final assignment.
RE: Lucas Ruric Coe
Coe was transferred from the Harris County Jail, Houston, Harris County, Tx to Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
There is a transition process from county jail to state prison in the State of Texas.
As part of the transition process, Coe was transferred from the Harris County Jail to Garza West Unit (TDCJ), Beeville, Bee County, Tx.
Coe was transferred from the Garza West Unit to the Byrd Unit, Huntsville, Walker County, Tx.
Byrd is a Diagnostic Intake Facility. I have been advised this is a facility where evaluations are done such as mental, educational, medical issues, work capability, etc.
At this facility, a determination will be made, based on evaluations, which facility within Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) will be appropriate for Coe.
This process could take two (2) to six (6) weeks or it could be less than two (2) weeks.
Coe is at the Byrd Unit temporarily as part of the transition process into TDCJ (prison). Coe will not serve his Life without Parole sentence at the Byrd Unit.
Ann, thanks for the video/article links of AY - it reminded me of the flat indifference that the cameras picked up in AY. She smiled at her "peeps" - otherwise could not have looked more bored by the proceedings. Little Emma's death appears to mean as little as her life did to AY.
There are no words that suffice in her failings as a mother, RN and human being. That she will leave jail and make a life for herself after Emma's life was stolen from her, is an atrocity.
I realize that Coe has not likely made his last stop in the TDCJ - that's why I kept (Diagnostic Intake Facility) in the name. But the good news is he is out of jail (soft time) and in prison - FOR LIFE - wherever he ends up!
