It is disturbing to read the indictment of Sandusky. What a sick individual! Instead of helping these innocent boys, he groomed them and sexually assaulted them.

As is common with so many like Sandusky, there is a clear pattern of "grooming" the victim, by Sandusky, with gifts, special attention such as taking them to ball games, special events, etc.

The "grooming" is for the victim to develop trust of the perpetrator.

My heart breaks for all of Sandusky's victims. He clearly took advantage of these young boys who were in a program, The Second Mile, that was intended to help them . . . per the public's perspective. The general public may have thought it was a good program but little did we know it was a sexual playground for Sandusky with ample cover up by certain folks at Penn State.

There were so many opportunities to halt Sandusky's sexual attack on these innocent boys because it was reported by various employees of Penn State including a janitor. But no . . . it was swept under the rug!

There is no telling how many other little boys may have been victims of Sandusky!

My special prayers and thoughts for the victims! ♥

And Sanduskys despicable acts have claimed yet another victim in Coach Paterno...What a horrible way to retire ones career...Granted he was elderly and probably was gonna retire, but to have it happen this way is terrible...I hope he can overcome the shadow that this has cast...I havent read the WHOLE story, but I have been told that Paterno DID inform higher ups and they did nothing at the time...Why make him a scapegoat??? He certainly doesn't deserve what has been thrown upon his plate...Now to go back and read Sandusky's indictment...

Wow, one poor child after another. How horrifying! These children have been let down by SO many adults!

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WHTM) - Jerry Sandusky and his lawyers met at an unplanned meeting at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte Tuesday afternoon, prompting a flurry of speculation about a possible plea deal in the works.

Defense team members including Joe Amendola, Karl Rominger and Sandusky began meeting with members of the Attorney General's office at around 3:00 p.m., according to court sources. They had no comment upon leaving, which is not surprising given that both sides are still under a gag order.

Courthouse sources denied rumors of a possible plea deal, saying a plea was not discussed Tuesday afternoon. Instead, the source said the attorneys were hammering out several pending legal issues.

Jerry Sandusky's child sex-abuse trial remained on track to start next week after a Pennsylvania appeals court on Friday turned down his latest request for a delay.

A Superior Court panel issued a one-paragraph order denying the former Penn State assistant football coach's petition seeking its review of the matter and granting his application to seal the defence filing.

Sandusky, 68, was arrested in November and faces 52 criminal counts for the alleged abuse of 10 boys over 15 years, allegations he denies. Jury selection is scheduled to begin in a central Pennsylvania courthouse on Tuesday.

A simple question could be the key to the case against Jerry Sandusky: Will the young men who contend the former Penn State assistant football coach sexually abused them be viewed as credible witnesses?

Legal experts say that's often the case in criminal trials, but even more in a case with allegations that go back many years and little or no forensic evidence.

"In any case I've tried like this, the people who are the accusers have to come across exceedingly well," said veteran Harrisburg defense attorney Matt Gover. "And the defense has to demonstrate a theory to the jury that there's motive for them to lie or fabricate."

I think this two trials are going to overlap, jury selection is going to start on June 23, 2012, for the Drew Peterson trial. I also want to see both, I guess we can watch one on TV and the other one on the live feed. We are good at multitasking.......

Sandusky judge denies accusers' bid for pseudonyms

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) - Alleged victims of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky will not be allowed to avoid disclosure of their names by testifying under pseudonyms, and tweets or other electronic communications by reporters will not be permitted during the trial, the judge ruled Monday.

Judge John Cleland also resolved a dispute over research into potential jurors, a day before jury selection is scheduled to start in Sandusky's trial on charges he sexually abused 10 boys.

Cleland denied a request by Sandusky's lawyer to order the attorney general's office to turn over information it has collected about potential jurors. Cleland said there was not enough evidence to warrant a hearing on the matter, and noted that prosecutors have said they have only done what a diligent defense attorney would do.

Finally, the beginning of the end has arrived.

The worst story in the history of American sports, if not in all of higher education, is headed toward a conclusion.

Jury selection for Jerry Sandusky's child sexual abuse trial began Tuesday morning in Bellefonte, Pa., some 10 miles up the road from State College.

It's hard to imagine right now — seven months to the day after Sandusky was first indicted for what became 52 counts of child molestation — that the stain the former Penn State assistant football coach spread in so many directions will ever be washed away. Some people and places involved have moved on; lots of others have not, and cannot until this trial is over. If then, even.

The notion of "closure" seems crazy at this time. But some semblance of it can start when a verdict is reached on Sandusky, and when a measure of justice is served up to him and for his alleged victims.

BELLEFONTE, Pa. — Connections to Penn State weren't enough to keep prospective jurors from being chosen to decide Jerry Sandusky's fate on child sexual abuse charges.

The start of jury selection Tuesday showed the strength of Sandusky's and Penn State's links to their rural central Pennsylvania community, but the presiding judge indicated that those connections weren't necessarily enough to keep them from being one of the 12 jurors or four alternates.

Nine jurors were selected Tuesday, including a longtime Penn State football season ticketholder.

In the first questioning of 40 prospective jurors, about half said they or immediate family members worked at Penn State or were university retirees. One woman rented apartments to college students. Four knew Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant football coach. Two knew his wife.

Judge John Cleland is making progress in selecting a jury for the Jerry Sandusky child molestation case.

On Tuesday, five men and four women were selected to serve on the jury. A total of 12 jurors and four alternates will need be chosen to complete the jury. The jury selection process will continue Wednesday.

I know this is a duh question....but how can I find out if the sandusky trial will be on cnnlive ?

I'll be doing the if either trial will be shown there.

From what I've read there are no cameras or live electronic reportin allowed in the Sandusky trial. So they may be covering it live with comentators outside the courtroom, but we won't get an OJ or KC 'performance' on this one.

I'm glad they are doing that, because I think it will give some level of privacy for the victims, but i would like to be able to watch JS sitting there listening to everything they say about him. I think his reaction is going to reflect his guilt.

BELLEFONTE, Pa. -- The attorneys arguing the child sexual abuse trial of former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky have four days to figure out how to sway a jury heavy with connections to the school.

Seven women and five men will hear opening statements Monday in the sweeping case that rocked the university and led to the ouster of Hall of Fame football coach Joe Paterno.

Four alternates also were chosen Wednesday after jury selection wrapped up in less than two days, a much brisker pace than some observers had expected given the school's deep roots in this mainly rural part of central Pennsylvania.

KEY DEVELOPMENTS: A jury of 16, including four alternates, was seated Wednesday in Jerry Sandusky's child sexual abuse trial. Ten of them have ties to Penn State. They include an engineering administrative assistant, a dance teacher in the continuing education program and a professor who has been on the faculty for 24 years. Despite the links, both the defense and prosecution were happy with the selections.

ODDS AND ENDS: Sandusky smiled when he arrived at court and remained jocular during jury selection, asking reporters in the courtroom: "What did you guys do to deserve me? How'd you guys get stuck with this? Aye aye aye."

WHAT'S NEXT: A break in the trial until Monday, when opening arguments begin. Until then, the judge has ordered jurors to avoid any mention of the case, be it online, in the newspaper, on television or on the radio.

Havent read the above, but thought I'd pit my 2 cents worth in anyway...It is a crying shame that these boys(at the time) have had to live with the shame that Sandusky made them feel...Too often, abused/molested children never discuss their abuse with anyone and carry the event/events with them into adulthood...It effects the way they live their lives and trust issues develop...Self esteem becomes an issue too...These young men are entitled to therapy even at this late a date...Victim services should be taken advantage of...Even though the victims do not want to be identified I do think that they are entitled to express their experiences...Perhaps if other young men hear them it will educate them as to what may be an abusive instance...Take heed!!!!

I dont think the victims shoud be identified and their faces should be covered...perhaps with masks...as they testify...JMO.

Estee. I second that emotion! I've waited a long time for that scumbag to get his due, I just hope they have enough evidence to convict Peterson.

Don't get me wrong, Sandsky imo is a dispicable human being taking advantage of the most vunerable. imo, that trial is going to last awhile since Sandsky's attorney's don't even want the young men to be called "victim's," they are going to challenge everything.

Now that the judge has ruled the victims will be identified, I am very concerned for them. They will have to relive this all over again. I am worried some will not want to testify now. Think about the media hounding them and criticism from the public. Like why did they wait so long, do they want money in a civil suit, etc. I am sorry, but I don't have much faith in jurors anymore.

I think I agree with everything you said except the covering of the faces.
That is too strong for a jury.
Perhaps, if the court would agree, they could testify behind a lit screen.
(That could incite the defense, however, to attack them.)
Names should not be made public if the victims do not want that.
At the same time, maybe they ARE angry enough they DO want their names and faces out there. THEY have NO reason for shame.

All counseling should be provided and the bill footed by the defense.
Counseling for the parents, wives, sibs, etc..
He brought this horror into their lives.

Jurors won't be sequestered during Jerry Sandusky's sexual abuse
trial, Judge John Cleland said


(CNN) -- During the weeks Jerry Sandusky's trial unfolds in Centre County, Pennsylvania, 12 jurors and four alternates will be able to eat dinners with their families and sleep in their own beds.

While they won't be isolated and watched by law enforcement, they also won't be able to lurk on Twitter, casually watch TV or even talk about the sexual abuse case that careened the Penn State University community into a media storm.

Bellefonte, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- A jury of five men and seven women, along with four alternates, was chosen Wednesday in the trial of Jerry Sandusky, the former Penn State assistant football coach charged with child rape.

Half of the 16 jurors and alternates have ties to Penn State, including one retired professor and one current professor, three graduates, two employees and one current student, showing the prominence of the university in the local community.

Sandusky, 68, has been under house arrest since being charged with sexually abusing 10 boys for at least 15 years. Prosecutors say he met some of his accusers through Second Mile, a charity he created for underprivileged children. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
