Meadowlark Lemon, Harlem Globetrotter
"....Meadowlark Lemon, who became known as the "Clown Prince of Basketball" during a run of more than two decades as a member of the Harlem Globetrotters, died Sunday. He was 83.
Lemon's death was first reported by The New York Times, who cited his wife, Cynthia.
A North Carolina native born Meadow Lemon III, Lemon recalled making his first basketball hoop out of an onion sack and a coat hanger and using an empty can of Carnation milk to sink his first two-point shot, according to Lemon's website.
He played college basketball at Florida A&M and was drafted into the Army for two years before he applied to join the Globetrotters in 1954. Lemon said he had seen the Globetrotters playing on newsreels, passing the ball to the tones of the distinctive "Sweet Georgia Brown," and was struck by the all-black squad. Black players were still a novelty on the court, the NBA having only integrated in 1950...."

This is a shame. I live just south of Dallas and this case is really screwed up. They ran after a picture of him drinking out of a beer bong surfaced online. I feel the DA needs to run that family out of money by running high money charges on them so they are on the same level as the rest of us.

Flight Attendant Last Seen at Airport Mysteriously Vanishes
A New York City-based flight attendant has vanished after she was last seen leaving an aiport on foot.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding 30-year-old Queens resident Sierra Shields, who mysteriously quit her job with Shuttle America on Thursday and hasn't been seen since.
Sierra's family, too, are asking for any clues that might help them get back the woman they say is an active member of her church.
Friends and family have started Facebook groups to help spread the word about Sierra's disappearance, including the Find Sierra Shields page.
"Please help find this beautiful young lady! She is a precious, bubbly, and happy person. She lives her life by God's word and is such an amazing, helpful, and caring daughter, sister, and friend," reads one post on the page.

Shields was scheduled to fly before she disappeared Thursday around noon, but never made the flight, reports PIX 11.
Shields is described as 5' 6" and weighs about 160 pounds, according to her missing poster. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Houston authorities bring up cars from bottom of Brays Bayou
First car being removed as part of Submerged
Vehicle Removal Pilot Project.
Over a year after Tim Miller from Texas Equusearch told the police he found around 125 cars in Sims, Brays and Buffalo Bayous, the authorities will be bringing the cars up from one of those locations. Over the last couple of years body's have been found in the waters of Florida, Texas, South Dakota, Oklahoma and other states inside cars that had been sitting at the bottom of a lakes and canals for years and some decades. Tim Miller was looking for a missing person back in May 2014 when the sonar equipment they were using spotting more and more cars under the water. Read story here. Texas Equusearch did not have the means to bring the cars up but Miller reported it to the police immediately.
According to Miller: “I went to the detective and said, we got a problem. We’ve found all these cars. He said, ‘You need to shut up, the city doesn’t have the money and the public will go crazy about this,’” said Miller.
Miller kept poking the bear for several months to get someone to retrieve the cars but the police department . First car being removed as part of Submerged
Vehicle Removal Pilot Project.
Over a year after Tim Miller from Texas Equusearch told the police he found around 125 cars in Sims, Brays and Buffalo Bayous, the authorities will be bringing the cars up from one of those locations. Over the last couple of years body's have been found in the waters of Florida, Texas, South Dakota, Oklahoma and other states inside cars that had been sitting at the bottom of a lakes and canals for years and some decades. Tim Miller was looking for a missing person back in May 2014 when the sonar equipment they were using spotting more and more cars under the water. Read story here. Texas Equusearch did not have the means to bring the cars up but Miller reported it to the police immediately.
According to Miller: “I went to the detective and said, we got a problem. We’ve found all these cars. He said, ‘You need to shut up, the city doesn’t have the money and the public will go crazy about this,’” said Miller.
Miller kept poking the bear for several months to get someone to retrieve the cars but the police department . "Affluenza Boy"
Saw a PBS show today on, "The Perfect Crime."
This was the 1924 murder of Bobby Franks, Chicago.
The murderers were two above average IQ 19 year old males.
Both were graduates of college. Both were of very wealthy families. Both had been heavily influenced by nannies.
Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb.
Of interest, this may have been the last case Clarence Darrow defended.
1.He heavily stressed the ages of the "boys" in order to avoid a death penalty: Illinois had never executed anyone younger than age of 23, the then age of majority.
2. Darrow allowed the many "new" scientific examinations of his clients.
This was the first case where "alienists" (an early word for psychologists) were allowed to examine and present evidence in a court of law.
3. Medical doctors were brought in to exam the bodily construction and performance of the brain, the glands, etc., in an attempt to determine why such privileged young males would commit such a horrendous crime.
4. Darrow had a brilliant closing argument in which he emphasized neglected children, irregardless of class and opportunity, would go on to commit terrible crimes when they had failed at bonding in the home. Darrow placed the responsibility for the crime upon the two families.
This brought to mind a similar murder in the 1950s.
The book, "Why Did They Kill?", explores the murder of a nurse by two teen males.
It, too, was set in Chicago. These boys, however, were of middle and lower classes.
Again, it was a lack of family structure and bonding.
I could not find a thread for Ethan Couch.
When I saw the PBS movie on Leopold/Loeb, I immediately thought of Couch.
I wonder IF his atty had used the "affluenza" excuse because of Clarence Darrow....

It turns out, Lassie may actually be a Louisiana bloodhound named Honey. And thanks to her, one family has their little boy home safe.

Eli Alcock, just three years old, reportedly wandered away from his Florien, Louisiana house Tuesday afternoon.
"Imagining never seeing him again… never hearing him again. Just the reality of what was happening, I mean, it was hard," Lindsy Alcock, Eli's mother, told NBC affiliate KPLC.
Enter Doug Downs, a local pastor, and his trusty bloodhound, Honey, who has quite the reputation for having a keen sense of smell. Downs was contacted, with hopes the canine could be of some help.
"The pressure was on because you're asked to come do something you've never done before," Downs told KPLC. He admitted it may have been a bit of a long shot as Honey's only real experience at tracking has been while out hunting deer, but he says he wanted to help in whatever way he could.
After several hours of searching, Little Eli was found safe in the woods behind his home. And it was Honey who led searchers to the boy.

Parents Accused Of Starving 23-Month-Old To Death

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) — A pair of parents have been arrested after their 23-month-old girl’s death was ruled a homicide.
Andrea Dusha and Michael Wright were arrested at a custody hearing for their other two sons, following the death of their child on Feb. 24.

On that date, police were called to the Uniontown Hospital due to a report of a suspected child abuse incident. When officers interviewed Dusha, she said that the baby girl became unresponsive while being fed.
The criminal complaint reads, “Dusha stated that the child was drinking a mixture of water, gatorade and pedialyte from a sippie cup when the child’s eyes rolled back into her head, foam began to emit from the child’s nose and mouth, and the child quit breathing.”
An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be malnutrition and dehydration. 23-month-old Lydia Wright was determined to weigh just ten pounds. A normal weight at that age is 26.5 pounds.

The discovery of skeletal remains in a field in south Houston could mean investigators discovered the final resting place of a Galveston teenager who disappeared almost two decades ago, or it could signal the start of an entirely new homicide investigation.
It all depends on the forensics, Houston police said Friday as searchers continued carefully excavating a scrubby horse pasture along East Orem near Hobby Airport.

The discovery was made at about 2:30pm Friday at the site on East Orem. At this point, it's not clear if the bones found are that of the missing teen. Search teams have collected the bones and placed them into evidence bags.
The medical examiner was on scene.
"If it's not Jessica Cain, then we have to find out who it is," said Detective Martinez.

Sofya Tsygankova faces two counts of capital murder in the deaths of 5-year-old Nika Kholodenko and 1-year-old Michela Kholodenko. Police say Vadym Kholodenko arrived Thursday at his wife's home in Benbrook, a Fort Worth suburb, to pick up the girls and found them dead in their beds and Tsygankova in an "extreme state of distress."
Benbrook police Cmdr. David Babcock said Monday that Tsygankova was served with arrest warrants in the Fort Worth hospital where she is undergoing a mental health evaluation. Authorities also have said she was recovering from knife wounds.
It's not clear how the girls died. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office said Monday that it had not completed autopsies. Police have said the children had no visible trauma.
Babcock said Tsygankova's bond would be set at $2 million. An attorney for Tsygankova did not immediately return phone and email messages for comment Monday.

He KNEW the difference between right and wrong.
Proof was the premeditation in the wig, back pack, weighting of the baby's body, etc.
