In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the Plano Police Department confirmed that Fawcett, 45, and her son Josiah Utu, 17, both suffered fatal stab wounds early Friday when Fawcett's eldest son 19-year-old McCann Utu Jr. attacked the pair before stabbing himself.

After the incident, a male suspect contacted police, telling the 911 operator that he had committed murder. Officers were then dispatched to the home in Plano, Texas – a suburb 20 miles north of Dallas – where they "made entry into the residence and discovered a deceased adult male and adult female along with another adult male who was alive with multiple stab wounds."

The suspect, McCann Utu Jr., was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

Body of UT Austin Student Found in Creek Identified as Fine Arts Major (Video)

The body of a woman found in a creek on the University of Texas at Austin campus has been identified as 18-year-old Haruka Weiser, a first-year fine arts student.

According to the Austin Police Department, Weiser was a victim of assault and endured what university president Gregory L. Fenves described as "unthinkable brutality."

Weiser was last seen Sunday night leaving the drama building between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m., Austin Police Department Chief Troy Gay said in a press conference Thursday. Weiser had communicated with one of her friends after she left the building, so police are confident of the route she took as she traveled back to her dorm, Gay said.

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) - Police have arrested a 17-year-old homeless teen in the murder of Portland woman Haruka Weiser, who was found dead at The University of Texas at Austin this week.

In a news conference Friday morning, police Chief Art Acevedo identified the suspect as 17-year-old Meechaiel Criner. Police said he was not a student at the university, and the motive is unknown at this time.

Weiser had been seen leaving the drama building on campus at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, and communicated with a friend while she was heading back to her dorm but never arrived there.

On Monday, fire crews had responded to a trash fire. Items found at that scene were related to the victim, according to police.

Criner had been charged with tampering with evidence, and will be formally charged with first-degree murder Friday afternoon.

Meechaiel Khalil Criner, a 17-year-old homeless male, is the sole suspect in the death of University of Texas-Austin freshman Haruka Weiser, the Austin Police Department said Friday.

The suspect - identified as Meechaiel Criner - was arrested Thursday and booked in the Travis County Jail, Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said at a news conference.

Austin police are investigating her death as a homicide.Acevedo said Criner was apprehended thanks to tips from the community, including the local fire department, who recognized the suspect from campus surveillance video.

Criner is believed to be homeless and is not a student at the university, police said.

"We're very certain that the subject we have in custody is the suspect responsible", Acevedo said.

Firefighters found Criner at the scene, police said, and he was taken to Lifeworks, a nonprofit shelter for youth in the city. We're not using her name because she says she has already faced a lot of backlash.

Prosecutors say the very people who should have protected the teenager from the dangers of drug use were the ones who walked him to a ledge and “enabled” him to jump.

“We have evidence of drug abuse by more than one person, more than one relative of the deceased,” Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “It appears his mother, her friend and his grandmother, and a friend of the grandmother, all had a hand in obtaining and disseminating heroin among themselves.

“The evidence in this case turns my stomach,” Barry said.

"...Ethan Couch, the Texas teenager caught in Mexico after using an "affluenza" defense in a deadly drunken-driving wreck, turned 19 on Monday, one week before he's set to make his first appearance in adult court.

His birthday automatically triggers stricter probation conditions, WFAA reports. Couch is currently behind bars for violating his probation by escaping to Mexico, and he's set to face a judge in adult court on April 18.

Authorities say they believe Couch and his mother fled to Mexico as Texas prosecutors investigated whether he may have violated his probation in the drunken-driving case. The crash killed four people and left nine others hurt.

Couch was 16 at the time of the wreck in 2013.

Officials in Mexico caught Couch and his mother, Tonya, in December, and eventually deported both to the U.S.

The mother, 48, was released on bond with a GPS monitor. She's charged with hindering the apprehension of a felon....."

As the investigation into the death of Seattle mom Ingrid Lyne continues, homicide detectives found flesh, blood and a 15-inch pruning saw in the bathroom of Lyne's home.

Jennifer Worley, a King County prosecutor, said during a court hearing on Tuesday, April 12, that investigators found bits of human flesh and blood in the bathtub drain near the saw during a search over the weekend.


Court papers also reveal that an empty box of plastic garbage bags identical to the type used to dispose of Lyne's body parts in a recycling bin was also found in her Renton, Washington, home.

John Robert Charlton is being held on $2 million bail and could face a second-degree murder charge in the death of the mother of three, who was reported missing on Saturday, April 9.

The 40-year-old had texted a friend on Friday night, telling them she was on a date at a Mariners baseball game, according to the Seattle Times.

"No one deserves this": Grisly murder of Wash. mom shocks neighbors



The murder of Ingrid Lyne, a single mother of three, has shocked her close-knit Washington neighborhood.

"I almost got sick. I mean, I just talked to her," said neighbor Robert Croner.

"Justice for Ingrid. No one deserves this, no one," said another, Marti Webster.

A neighbor said Lyne's ex-husband reported her missing on Saturday. He said Lyne's purse and phone were in her home.

Friends say Lyne planned to go to a Mariners baseball game Friday night with a date she met online -- 37-year-old John Charlton. When her ex-husband arrived to drop off the kids Saturday morning, she wasn't home, reports CBS News correspondent John Blackstone.

Lyne was reported missing. Hours later, a homeowner called police after finding body parts -- including a foot -- in plastic bags left in a recycling bin just 10 miles from her house.

SEATTLE -- Police Chief Kathleen O'Toole said Monday investigators identified human remains found in a resident's recycling bin on Saturday as those of a missing Renton mother of three who vanished Friday night after going out with a man she initially met through a dating site.

Ingrid Lyne had been missing since going on a date to the Seattle Mariners home opener Friday night, authorities told Q13 News.

In cooperation with the Renton Police Department, a search warrant was served in their jurisdiction, and evidence was recovered, including telephone calls, that helped police identify a suspect.

Police said, based on that evidence, a 37-year-old Snohomish County man, John Robert Charlton, was arrested in connection with Lyne's murder and booked into the King County Jail for investigation of homicide. He is believed to be the man who went on the date with Lyne.

Police in Seattle announced on April 11 that 37-year-old John Charlton had been taken into custody in connection to the death of Ingrid Lyne, 40. She was last seen on the night of April 8 when she went out on a date with Charlton to a baseball game.

Several of Ingrid Lyne’s body parts were found inside of recycling bin on April 9. The Seattle Times reports that her head was found in the recycling bin in the Central District of the city.

Homicide cops learned that Lyne had been reported missing from the city of Renton, southeast of Seattle, the night before. They used a photo to “tentatively” identify her, according to the Times. The parts were dumped in the recycling bin either late on April 8 or early on April 9.

Disturbing details released in murder of Washington mom who disappeared after date

SEATTLE –Disturbing details have been released about the murder of a Washington mother who disappeared after a date with a man she met online.

Ingrid Lyne, 40, was last seen Friday, April 8th.

That night, Lyne reportedly went on a date with 37-year-old John Robert Charlton, a man who she had met online and had been dating since last month.

During a hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors revealed new details of the crime, including the fact that investigators believe Lyne was killed in her own home, dismembered in her bathtub and transported in her own car to the location where her remains were dumped.

King County Deputy Prosecutor Jennifer Worley said Seattle police crime scene investigators "found bits of human flesh and blood in bathtub drain" in Lyne's home, where they also located a 15-inch pruning saw.

According to probable cause documents obtained by KCPQ, Charlton told detectives that he and Lyne had been dating for about a month and that he had spent nights at her home on previous occasions. He said he and Lyne returned to her home Friday night after attending a Mariners game.

"Charlton claimed that he had been so intoxicated on Friday night that he could not recall how he and Lyne returned to her residence after the Mariners game, or what transpired when they got there," the documents said. "He said he believed they had sex, and said Lyne was acting 'weird', but could not or would not provide further details."

The King County Prosecutor's Office filed a first-degree murder charge Wednesday afternoon against the 37-year-old man accused of killing and dismembering Renton nurse and mother Ingrid Lyne.

John Robert Charlton is accused of killing 40-year-old Lyne at her home Friday night or early Saturday morning after they attended a Mariners game together, cutting apart her body and driving her remains to Seattle to drop them off. A Central District resident found parts of Lyne's body in his recycling bin Saturday afternoon.

Charlton remains held in King County Jail on $2 million bail. If convicted as charged, he could face 21 to almost 28 years in prison.

His criminal record includes a Montana felony theft conviction and first-degree felony aggravated robbery in Utah. His parents at one point petitioned for a restraining order against him in 2006 while living in Yelm, Wash. before later requesting a dismissal.

Lyne was a nurse in Seattle and the mother of three girls, ages 12, 10 and 7.

maybe he should drink it longer than just 1 month. maybe he should give some to his kids, a pregnant wife, his elderly parents, his pets, his houseplants. would he still be so comfortable doing that?

The dead have been identified as members of the Rhoden family. Authorities spoke to 100 of their relatives and friends gathered at a church on Friday.

The victims, seven adults and a 16-year-old boy, were found dead at four homes along Union Hill Road, prompting authorities to believe they might be chasing three or more shooters.

According to the Morning Ledger, five members of the family have been identified: recent father and husband-to-be Frankie Rhoden and his 20-year-old fiancee Hannah Hazel Gilley, young mother Hanna May Rhoden, grandmother-to-be Dana Lynn Rhoden, 37, and 16-year-old Chris Rhoden.

Authorities have interviewed more than 30 people at this time and will talk to more of them as the investigation continues, Attorney General Mike DeWine said during a news conference Friday evening.

'We will continue until the case is solved. We do not know whether we're talking about one individual or two or three or more,' DeWine added. ...."

'Sorry, My First Kill Was Clumsy': Sources Claim Message Written on Floor in San Jose Double Homicide (Videos)

Sources who claim they were inside the home shortly after a San Jose husband and wife were found shot to death this weekend, say they saw writing on the floor in big black magic marker letters that read: "Sorry, my first kill was clumsy."

Then, on the wall, a much longer, rambling diatribe, in the same permanent lettering. The end allegedly read something like: "I can’t be like you, telling a lie. I can’t love someone without telling them," the sources claimed. Somewhere in the rant was a part about how the wife begged for her life as she was being killed, sources told NBC Bay Area on Tuesday.

The sources asked to remain anonymous to avoid offending the families of victims Golam and Shamima Rabbi, ages 59 and 57, who were killed Sunday in their quiet home on a cul-de-sac on the 3000 block of Lucas Court. It's San Jose's first double homicide of the year, and the first in recent memory to rock the close-knit Bangladeshi community.

Who wrote the messages — and why — has not been revealed. However, police said they don't believe the Rabbis death was a "random act of violence," noting that the suspect was "someone familiar to the family."

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The FBI says a man is in custody after he admitted to spraying a contaminant that officials believe contained mice poison on unpackaged food at several Michigan grocery stores.

In a news release Tuesday, the agency said an investigation indicates the man sprayed a mixture of hand cleaner, water and mouse poison on produce and open food bars at several Ann Arbor area stores within the last couple of weeks.

They include Whole Foods stores as well as Meijer, Inc. and Plum Market stores, reports CBS Detroit.

The FBI says an investigation is ongoing to determine if other stores the suspect visited were affected.

Why a South Carolina man got bail after he shot, buried and ‘slow-cooked’ two people

A Goose Creek, S.C., man is accused of killing two men and burning and burying the bodies in the backyard of his home. The suspect, James Loftis, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder. (ABCNews 4 WCIV)

Early in the morning on March 5, James Edward Loftis found himself facing two men in his South Carolina home. The men were demanding cab fare for the ride Loftis had just received.

“I’ll get your money,” he told them, according to his own account given to police and recorded in an arrest warrant soon after.

Instead, the warrant said, Loftis retrieved a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun, returned to the living room and fired off eight shots, striking both men.

He then went to get gas, cleaned his home with bleach and burned the two bodies, along with his clothes and towels, in the back yard, according to the document.

On Monday, his lawyer argued that Loftis acted in self-defense and buried and burned the bodies in a state of panic, according to the Post and Courier. A prosecutor said the prosecution was moving forward in its case against Loftis.

Nonetheless, a judge in the case granted bail to the 39-year-old, who faces murder charges for fatally shooting the cab driver, 46-year-old Guma Oz Dubar, and the other man, 32-year-old James Cody Newland.

Police: Missing Bradenton girl, mother tracked into Georgia

BRADENTON -- A missing child alert has been issued for a 10-year-old Bradenton girl, authorities said.

Early Wednesday, the alert was issued for Emma Mischaud, who officials said may be with her mother, Suzanne Knight. Since the alert was issued, officials learned they were in Georgia, but Bradenton police Lt. James Racky said they had not been located.

Police believe they may be heading to Knight's home state of Connecticut.

The girl was last seen late Tuesday near the Palm Cove Apartments, 4550 47th St. W., Bradenton.

Emma stands 4 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 60 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue sundress and blue reading glasses.

Knight stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and was believed to be wearing a blue t-shirt and gray sweat pants.

They may be traveling in a 2016 red Toyota RAV4, with Connecticut tag number AD23238.

BRADENTON, FL — The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has issued a missing child alert for a 10-year-old girl from Bradenton.

According to FDLE, Emma Mischaud is 4 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs an estimated 60 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen in the area of 4000 47th Street West. Emma was wearing a blue sundress and blue reading glasses.

“The child may be in the company of Suzanne Knight, a white female, 46 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 130 pounds, blonde hair, and blue eyes, wearing a blue T-shirt and gray sweat pants,” the FDLE alert said.

The two may be traveling in a 2016 red Toyota RAV4 with a Connecticut tag. The tag number is AD23238.

According to the Bradenton Police Department, the search for Emma kicked off late Tuesday night after family reported that Knight, her mother, had an argument with family members and took off with the child in the car, an email from the department said. When Knight was leaving 4550 47th St. W., she "drove away in her vehicle at a high rate of speed, almost striking another family member," the email said.

"....An assistant district attorney jumped to his death three days after his Salt Lake City home was raided by police investigating child sex abuse image complaints.

Chad Platt, 46, was found on the sidewalk near the Salt Lake City County District Attorney's office shortly after 5.30am on Monday.

Platt, who had worked as a prosecutor at the DA's office for 17 years was the subject of an operation.

Heavily armed officers stormed Platt's house on Friday morning and spent seven hours searching the property.

One eyewitness told Fox13 News: 'I went up to one of the officers, he was standing in the front yard and I just asked if everything was OK. He said we're serving a search warrant and he couldn't tell me anything but I could see, on his patch, I saw that it said "internet crimes".

The Salt Lake Tribune quoted police detective Greg Wilking who said 'it was a suicide'. He added it was due to 'a fall from a height'.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia's government said Thursday that two more pieces of debris, discovered in South Africa and Rodrigues Island off Mauritius, were "almost certainly" from Flight 370, which mysteriously disappeared more than two years ago with 239 people on board.


The announcement means a total of five pieces of debris from the Malaysian Airlines' jet have now been discovered in various spots around the Indian Ocean since it vanished on March 8, 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The poisoning of a 10-year-old Treasure Coast boy from a fumigation was supposed to change the pest control business. But has anything been improved?

The fumigators in the poisoning of Peyton McCaughey will learn their punishment in federal court Thursday morning after pleading guilty.

Grenale Williams and Canarie Deon Currie from Sunland Pest control, the company sub-contracted by Terminix to do the job, face up to a year in prison.

Both men pleaded guilty to misusing the deadly gas sulfuryl fluoride at the McCaughey's Palm City home last August. The case sparked state investigations, law changes and a 78-page report from the inspector general.

Despite all the noise, the Contact 5 Investigators have learned very little has actually changed.

"Do you think you'll ever have your home fumigated again?" Asked Contact 5 Investigator Jared Werksma. "No, Absolutely not" answered Carl McCaughey during an interview last November....."

"....The McCaughey family had hoped non-toxic alternatives to sulfuryl fluoride, the deadly gas that poisoned their son Peyton, would catch on.

However, records from Florida's Department of Agriculture show fumigations have skyrocketed since 2011.

WASHINGTON — In the middle of a legal fight with North Carolina over transgender rights, the Obama administration is planning to issue a sweeping decree telling every public school district in the country to allow transgender students to use the bathrooms that match their gender identity.

The letter to school districts that will go out Friday describing what they should do to ensure that none of their students are discriminated against, signed by officials of the Justice Department and Department of Education, does not have the force of law. But it contains an implicit threat: Schools that do not abide by the Obama administration’s interpretation of the law could face lawsuits or a loss of federal aid.

Texans First to Flush Obama's Directive on School Bathrooms

"I got news for President Barack Obama," Port Neches-Groves (Texas) Superintendent Rodney Canvass told local TV station 12News. "He ain't my President and he can't tell me what to do. That letter is going straight to the paper shredder."

Reaction was fierce in Indiana, as well.

Dr. Zach Rozelle, superintendent of the Union County/College Corner Joint School District, did not mince words to CBS4 in Indianapolis.

"Another example of government … politicians using the public schools to promote their own political agenda -- little to no regard for the real impact on the right to privacy … security for all children," Rozelle said.

While he wants to hold the power of purse strings and threatens to remove ALL federal funding for anything and everything, the States are keenly aware of the potential lawsuits from rapes of females, psychological injuries, theft of privacy (stupid cell phone cameras), and physical abuse. States are NOT willing to compromise a terrible outcome for the POSSIBLE visit by a true transgender.

Again, this president has difficulty understanding proper VETTING of individuals.
