A reminder that if #theatershooting jurors find JH insane, they can't find him guilty on even one charge. They can't do both.

I stand corrected. Though it technically wasn't part of instructions, #theatershooting judge read jury form, which includes Holmes' name.

There are 600-700 pages of jury instructions. WOW.
Each victim will be mentioned and all the charges of murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, etc., will be listed as separate charges for each of the victims. Yes, the list would be massive...

https://twitter.com/hashtag/theatershooting?src=hash
(One of the defense witnesses for the penalty phase (should they have a penalty phase) is doing a research on Monarch Butterflies and might be unavailable to testify. Apparently he knows Holmes since Holmes was a child.)
How appropriate he will not be there to testify... specially since he has known JH so long.
I wonder how the parents feel about the lack of testimony...
Actually, how predictable.
Why not take the testimony over the phone as they did with the Jodi Arias case? Hmmm?????

BTW, that red hair he supposedly dyed himself? Yeah.
I used to dye my hair in order to hide my grey.
Do you know how many times I chased the drippings on my forehead or the tips of my ears? And I had years and years of practice... monthly.
I do not believe he could have dyed his hair red without the dye dripping on his forehead, ears, neck, etc.. Yet, when I look at the photo, I see no red smears or "freckles" caused by the dye...
He must be a very talented artist....
Hi Freckles,
JH dyed his hair before the end of June 2012. The manager of his apartment building testified that JH already had the orange hair when he paid his July 2012 rent in the last week of June. The kind of "dye" that JH used is not the kind of permanent hair dye that one would use to change the color of their hair or to hide their grey. The hair dye that JH used is a thick product that more or less attaches itself to the hair strand as opposed to really penetrating the hair strand and permanently altering the color. The type of hair dye that JH used leaves the hair strands with a thick, rough, unnatural texture. Take a look at the texture of the girl's hair in the photo below.

We hashed this over a time back....I just don't buy into it... You are telling me this is like the old Nestle color spray product? One time and wash out? While that may be true of the product, it is apparent from all the earlier pics ( taken after the arrest) the hair appears to NOT have been washed out in one showering... unless he showered without getting his hair wet....

Hi Freckles,
It is called "semi-permanent" hair color. According to the product listing on Amazon.com, the semi-permanent hair coloring "lasts 3-6 weeks on most hair" and there are "20 delicious semi-permanent colors".

^^^ The color might be semi-permanent but in order to obtain the orange hue shown in Holmes' pictures, the hair has to be bleached first, then the Nepalm Orange colour is applied to the hair. It is quite a process.

The color I used was Special Effects Napalm Orange in the bangs. I had originally bleached the hair to a medium blonde color. My natural hair color is dark brown so it took a lot of lightening. I usually go 4 weeks before I redye the color.
The first photo is the day after I colored it. You can see that it almost came out as a redish orange.
The second photo was after roughly 2 weeks since I last colored the orange.
The last photo was three weeks of fading.

Oh, wow! So, the hair needs to be bleached first. No wonder the hair texture ends up looking the way it does. That is a bit of work I suppose.

Re: James Holmes: Colorado Theater Murder Trial
Okay, we have now seen and heard all of the evidence for both sides.
What did you think of the closing arguments?
I think that Brauchler did a great job on the prosecution's closing argument. I also think that King did a very good job with what little he had to work with.
I would find JH to be sane and guilty if I were a deliberating juror. How about the rest of you?

Hi Guys...
I'm finally back on, my work computer blocked me right after Travis then I got an email about Cassidy Goodman because I had it set up to monitor and you all posted her plea deal and when I clicked the link I was able to get back in!!! I haven't really been following this case but as far as the hair goes my one daughter has been every color of the rainbow for the last 4+ years and for it to turn out vibrant you need to lighten your hair. You can go into any Sally's or Hot Topic and buy the bleaching kit and Manic Panic dye... And it says demi-permanent but it doesn't come out unless you dye over it or bleach it out again... It'll fade but that's about it... He could of done his hair in about 2 hours, depending on how fast his hair lifted...

Welcome home! Glad to see you....
My question was not so much IF it could be done or how it was done but if he did it or if an amateur did it.
Essentially, could he have done it by himself and not have had drippings or smears along ears, hair line, etc
I often ended up with the tops of my ears stained or a stain on the face near hair line when I tried to catch a wayward drip.
(Yes, I had trouble coloring in the lines in grade school.... )

The thing with the manic panic type dyes is that they are vegetable dyes and don't stain the skin really... A little dishsoap on a paper towel and you're pretty much good to go... And like mentioned before his looks faded so any skin staining would have been long gone...

I would find JH to be sane and guilty if I were a deliberating juror. How about the rest of you?
I need to review some of the tapes before I could state how he should be found.
I am disappointed in both the defense and the prosecution for "sloppy" forensics;
it seems more an emotional and PC presentation by the state with a terribly weak defense.
As an example:
What evidence was collected on the bloody shoe prints on the walkway behind the theater (seen in vid and pics) ?
Since the prints do NOT lead to the car JH was associated with, whose were they?
What size? What size shoes did JH wear? What brand? (Brand is specific by tread as registered trademark and used by FBI. See: Nicole Brown Simpson murder and OJ...)
The first of several reports to 911 mention two or more shooters.
I do not feel this has been properly addressed.
One person stated and individual rec a phone call and went to the back door of the theater.
Do we have forensics on the cell phone for JH?
Did he have a cell phone with him?
Where did the call originate from on his cell phone?
IMO, there are way too many unanswered questions. Why did the prosecution/LE not pursue the case more diligently?
I do think JH had some knowledge of the events but I am not convinced he did this, did it alone, did it on his on volition.
Look to his education and his thesis.
(BTW, why weren't more witnesses called on his behalf? Teachers ???They surely had opinions on his presentations, performances, attendance, etc.,)
I do believe, outside of the drugged moments, he IS sane and was sane when it happened.
I only question if he acted alone and on his own volition.
This case has played to the media.
It will be found to be in agreement with what is
but we never "move on"....Improbable and impossible. Perhaps, what we are asking is for someone to move it off the front page of media as we are getting bored with it? Our minds are made up and we don't want to hear anything that might upset our formed opinions?
As in the case of William Heirens (Chicago, 1946, Lipstick Killer) I do not believe truth was needed as long as the outcry for a perp was met.
Our attention span lacks. We want answers and resolution and to move on. To celebrate we were in the "popular opinion" group.
Do we really want the truth? What about all the personal agendas?
"You can't handle the truth!"
For that, we need to be accountable.

no... it's think goopy stuff. It makes your hair really soft but as it goes away the dryness from the bleaching chemicals comes through... My daughter doesn't go pastel anymore, she has mousey brown hair and does the deeper colors like now she's like a teal / forest green mix so it'll always be soft... Color stylist say it's from the devil because it's hard to get out...

Bmore great to see you

My own personal opinion is the Prosecution did a great closing. The defense not so much. However, I think if the jury finds him Guilty, Not Insane I think the defense will (notice I say THINK) put on a much better case to keep him alive.
I find him GUILTY to the nth degree. He was SANE before, during and after no question in my mind what-so-ever.

My Replies In Red Under Yours.
I need to review some of the tapes before I could state how he should be found.

I personally don't see "sloppy forensics".
As an example:
What evidence was collected on the bloody shoe prints on the walkway behind the theater (seen in vid and pics) ?
Since the prints do NOT lead to the car JH was associated with, whose were they?
Victims.
What size? What size shoes did JH wear? What brand? (Brand is specific by tread as registered trademark and used by FBI. See: Nicole Brown Simpson murder and OJ...)
My guess is that the prints were matched with the victims shoes or feet, but wasn't needed as proof that James Holmes committed this crime.
The first of several reports to 911 mention two or more shooters.
I do not feel this has been properly addressed.
I'm satisfied that it has been properly put to bed. JH failed to recruit Gargi and Ben and gave up on recruiting anyone else cuz Gargi and Ben told him he needs to talk to someone about his killing people and if I recall correctly his reply was that he was talking to someone, imo it was Dr Fenton.
One person stated and individual rec a phone call and went to the back door of the theater.
Do we have forensics on the cell phone for JH?
Did he have a cell phone with him?
Where did the call originate from on his cell phone?
The cell phone he had to dupe the theater goers was the Cell Phone Stun Gun he brought and payed for.
IMO, there are way too many unanswered questions. Why did the prosecution/LE not pursue the case more diligently?
I do think JH had some knowledge of the events but I am not convinced he did this, did it alone, did it on his on volition.
Look to his education and his thesis.
All I can say about this is that YES, James Holmes is the one and only murderer in this case. As I said above his recruitment of Gargi and Ben failed, furthermore nowhere in his writings does he discuss anyone else to help him out.
(BTW, why weren't more witnesses called on his behalf? Teachers ???They surely had opinions on his presentations, performances, attendance, etc.,)
I believe this will happen when the defense begs for his life in the penalty phase if we get that far.
I do believe, outside of the drugged moments, he IS sane and was sane when it happened.
I agree that he has never ever been INSANE and is still SANE to this day.
I only question if he acted alone and on his own volition.
When we look at the forensic evidence it points directly to him and no other person. ALL of the evidence collected at the scene and his home (that failed to explode) was his and his alone. We saw tapes of some of the purchases HE made, we saw receipts in HIS name, we saw credit card statements of HIS purchases. Every piece of death garb, every weapon, every bullet was his and his alone.
This case has played to the media.
It will be found to be in agreement with what isPCkPC; swept under the rug so we all can "move on"...
but we never "move on"....Improbable and impossible.
In my personal opinion I have rarely seen blurps of this trial on the big news channels. I have solely watched it on my computer every day.
Our attention span lacks. We want answers and resolution and to move on. To celebrate we were in the "popular opinion" group.
Do we really want the truth? What about all the personal agendas?

Theater Shooting Jury Has Questions During First Hours Of Deliberation
July 15, 2015 12:26 PM
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4)– The jury in the Aurora theater shooting trial had at least two questions for the judge in the first hours of deliberation on Wednesday.
~Snipped~
The first question from jurors had to do with the hours they will work and materials needed for examination of evidence during deliberation.
Judge Carlos Samour read the request from the jury in court where the gunman, his lawyers and the prosecution team gathered.
“On the top it says hours of jury 8:15 to 4:30 so those are apparently the hours they are going to be speaking and it says we request a white board and it’s signed by the foreperson,” said Samour.
The second question was if there was a guide to all the evidence but the answer was no.
An alternate juror also asked if there would be access to a fax machine during deliberations so that he/she could go work while waiting for the jury to reach a verdict. The judge allowed access to the fax machine.
Samour said every time the jury poses a question he will reconvene those players inside the courtroom so that all parties have the opportunity to hear and respond to what the jury is asking and/or requesting.

Holmes’ attorney says he could’ve done more to keep convict off death row in other case (Video)
Posted 6:33 pm, October 24, 2014, by David Mitchell and Dave Young
DENVER — The lawyer who defended Sir Mario Owens says he could’ve done more to keep him off death row in Colorado.
The same lawyer is now the lead attorney for James Holmes, who is also facing the death penalty.
Dan King’s surprising testimony took place Friday.
Owens is on death row and out of legal appeals. He was convicted, along with Robert Ray, for the double murders of Javad Marshal Fields and Fields’ fiancee Vivian Wolfe in 2005.
Owens public defenders are now trying to convince a judge the convict had inadequate defense counsel at his original trial.
Owens’ lead attorney in 2008 was Dan King, chief trial deputy for the state public defenders’ office. “Dan King is looking back on his trial and he’s saying ‘yes, I made mistakes,'” says criminal defense attorney David Beller.
King is lead attorney for Aurora Theater shooting suspect James Holmes.
King testified Friday that he was not properly qualified to defend Owens, blaming mistakes in judgment, strategy and lack of experience.
