Went to middle school, hs with JH. Ate lunch daily with JH. Hung out with him. About 6 in group. Quiet guys. Sometimes see movies or play paint ball outside of school. Felt JH was similar to him. Intelligent, quiet, loners, They did not have gfs, played soccer, cross country; never went to each other's homes. Social in the group but none of them where really social with others...Never saw JH get angry, mad, rude, get into trouble...
last saw him after the first two years of college...Pretty much friends during middle school and hs.

No State questions.
No jury questions.
Witness dismissed.

Defense to witness:

Wright was counselor at camp in Glendale area.
Was counselor from 2006-2011.
JS was a camp counselor there.
Camp held 120 from economically disadvantaged.
Counselors each had 20 in group.
Taught swimming, sports, archery, etc..
Aged 7-12.
Bunked in same area as kids.

Questions about a video.
Defense presented intro and State is asking all kinds of evidentiary questions.
Witness does not know when the video was mad, by whom, or the circumstances.
State is objecting. Side bar. Long.

Def is now addressing the same questions re video with the witness.
Showing pics of the camp, followed by video showing the camp.
Speaking of the general camp schedule.
Said JH was quiet, shy, reserved as a camp counselor.
The sky kids could relate to JH... he was funny, sometimes goofy.
He was so quiet, when he was funny it seemed more than usual.
Said it can be very stressful working with the kids. Said it could be easy to get frustrated with the kids. Never saw JH get frustrated. Never had any concerns with the actions of JH.

Witness excused.
Jury dismissed for day!

There's been another theater shooting!  Louisiana Grand 16 theater.  It's on CNN right now.

3 dead, including gunman.  Walked in and opened fire.  Killed 2 and then killed himself.  At least 7 injured.

I can't even say that I am surprised. It seems like there is always a copycat after a mass shooting gets a lot of publicity. Schools, malls, movie theatres. Where is it safe these days???

A man sitting in a packed movie theater stood up and began firing into the crowd, killing two and injuring at least seven others Thursday night before fatally shooting himself, authorities said.

Police described the shooter as a 58-year-old "lone white male," but did not immediately disclose his name. They later identified his car and evacuated the area after spotting something suspicious inside the vehicle. Police said they were going to set off an explosion in the car, and minutes later an Associated Press reporter on the scene heard a number of short bursts similar to firecrackers coming from that vicinity.

At least one theatergoer described the scene, saying an older white man stood up about 20 minutes into the 7 p.m. showing of the movie "Trainwreck" at the Grand 16 theater in Lafayette and began shooting.

The Lafayette, Louisiana, movie theater shooter was 59-year-old John Russel Houser, Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft said Friday.

Craft described Houser as "kind of a drifter" who was from Alabama and had been in Lafayette since early July, staying in a local hotel. Authorities have found various "disguises, basically" at the hotel room where he'd been staying.

Houser fired at least 13 rounds, according to the police chief.

"It appears he was intent on shooting and escaping," Clark said of the shooter. "The quick law enforcement response pushed him back into the theater."

As to his motive, Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police said, "Why did he come here? Why did he do that? We don't know that."

Victims, gunman identified in Grand 16 shooting

The victims who died in last night's shooting at The Grand 16 have been identified as 21-year-old Mayci Breaux of Franklin and 33-year-old Jillian Johnson of Lafayette.

The shooter, who shot himself in the theater, has been identified as 58-year-old John Houser of Alabama. Police say he was a "drifter" who had been in the Lafayette area since early July. He fired 13 rounds into the theater during the 7 p.m. showing of "Trainwreck."

One of the victims and the gunman died at the scene.  A second victim died at an area hospital. Nine people were injured. Two have been treated and released. One remains in critical condition.

He was staying at the Motel 6 on University Avenue. Police searched his hotel room this morning and found wigs and other disguises.

Houser drove a 1995 blue Lincoln Continental with a switched license plate to the theater and parked outside the exit door. He intended on shooting then escaping, but police believe the rapid law enforcement response forced Houser back into the building, where he shot himself.

Police recovered a .40 caliber handgun. No explosive devices were found in his vehicle.

LAFAYETTE, La. — One was a popular student studying to be a radiology technician, while the other was an outgoing artist who ran retail boutiques in two Louisiana cities.

The two people slain by a gunman who opened fire Thursday in a crowded Louisiana movie theater, Jillian Johnson and Mayci Breaux, had promising careers and the love of friends and family.

"They had a face, they had a name. They had a future. It wasn't to die in this theater," said Col. Michael Edmonson, head of Louisiana State Police.

This is extremely unusual.  The juror knew he was going to be with the deliberating jurors because the judge yesterday allowed the alternate jurors to mingle with the deliberating jurors. He said he was going to allow it as long as the alternate jurors and the deliberating jurors didn't discuss issues related to the trial.  The judge shouldn't have allowed that to happen. JMO

The lone gunman who opened fire at a packed Louisiana movie theater had a history of "extreme erratic behavior" and was so unstable that his wife removed all of the guns from the home, court documents show.

John Russell Houser, 59, was described as a "drifter" by police following Thursday night's shooting in Lafayette, where he killed two people and wounded nine others before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

But the court documents, which detail a divorce filing by Houser's wife in May, reveal a life plunged into disarray: He made threats to family members, had a history of hospitalizations for his mental conditions and was known to law enforcement.

Juror 87 being questioned re the shooting in Louisiana.
She says she only heard her son mentioning it.
She states she has not discussed the Louisiana of the JH cases with any one else.
She said she "blew off" her son...and she laughed aloud about it in court.

Said she has learned nothing about the JH case from the media.
She tried to discuss the latest shooting with her husband and he told her he knew about it but did not think she was allowed to know about it at this time.

She said she heard about it on Thursday on NPR. Once she heard it was a theater shooting, she used the remote and turned it off. One other one when they said info about the shooter, she turned it off. She does not know how many injured or killed. Does think the shooter killed himself but does not know his age or what he looks like, etc.. Heard twice on NPR.
