Fort Hood Soliders Share Connection To Hailey Dunn Case

ABILENE, Texas -- Fort Hood soldiers who joined the search for missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn had a personal connection to the case.

The wife of one of the nearly 30 volunteers who came out last weekend grew up in Colorado City.

She told KTXS Thursday that the soldiers were able to cover a lot of ground during their search.

Under the circumstances, I am amazed that Billie Jean Dunn would be so stupid and call in to a Blog Talk Radio show on 3-2-11 and 3-10-11.

The Hailey Dunn case is under active investigation. Law Enforcement agencies are keeping it close to the vest.

If Billie Jean Dunn is formally named a "Person of Interest", I think it will be announced by Colorado City Manager and Spokesman Pete Kampfer.

It will be announced via a Press Release or Press Conference to the LOCAL MAIN STREAM media including Abilene, Synder, and Odessa-Midland, Tx.

I doubt seriously that it will be formally announced to blogs. If so, it will be a first in the many cases that I follow nation wide.

Hailey's dad handed out fliers and raised money this weekend at the Rattlesnake Roundup.

Clint Dunn knew with 40,000 people expected to be at the event it was a great place to get his missing daughter's name out there.

"The Rattlesnake Roundup brings a lot of people and we're just trying touch as many people as we can with Hailey's story," Dunn said.

Authorities Cease Regular Searches for Hailey Dunn

Searches for missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn continue to dwindle down. She was last seen at her Colorado City home on Dec. 27.

According to Colorado City city manager Pete Kampfer, law enforcement is out looking for her only on a "need-be basis." If there are crews available or if there is an area where investigators need to look at, they will search it, he added.

The search for Hailey Dunn continues — and has not gone cold — even though the Colorado City teen has been missing almost three months, a local official said.

City Manager Pete Kampfer, the spokesman for the investigation, said the search for the 13-year-old middle school student, who was reported missing Dec. 28, has not stalled and that investigators continue to follow up on any leads.

"They work the case, go out and search, and write reports on what they did or did not find,' Kampfer said. "It is all part of the progression of the case for law enforcement."

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Shawn Adkins, the boyfriend of missing Texas teen Hailey Dunn’s mother, Billie Dunn, and one of the only two suspects in Hailey’s disappearance, was asked during an online radio talk show if he’d ever said he could kill someone and that no one would ever find the body.

Examiner.com was informed Saturday by hosts of the Bring Them Home Now online radio show that Billie Dunn is now also a person of interest in Hailey’s disappearance.

After being asked the question, Adkins gave a brief response and the call went dead. Try as they may, the hosts of the show were unable to get him back on the line.

UPDATED 9:20 P.M. Billie Jean Dunn, mother of missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn, was arrested and charged with three misdemeanors today.

According to an official with the district attorney's office for the 32nd Judicial District, Dunn was charged with:

Hindering apprehension/prosecution, a Class A misdemeanor

Possession of a dangerous drug, a Class A misdemeanor

Giving a false report to a peace officer, a Class B misdemeanor

The Mitchell County night jailer, who declined to give her name, says Billie Jean Dunn was arrested at her Colorado City home and charged with hindering apprehension and prosecution, possession of dangerous drugs and obstructing justice. All are misdemeanors.

The jailer said Dunn will remain in the Mitchell County Jail without bond until she appears before a magistrate Friday morning.

Colorado City, TX - The mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn remains behind bars Thursday evening after being arrested while law enforcement attempted to carry out a search warrant.
The Mitchell County District Attorney's Office says they went to Billie Dunn's Colorado City home to carry out a search warrant on her longtime boyfriend, Shawn Adkins. During the search, law enforcement said Dunn lied to them. She was taken into custody and interrogated at the Mitchell County Law Enforcement Center Thursday.

Dunn told authorities that Adkins wasn't at the home, but he was, and as a result Dunn was arrested.

Billie Dunn has been charged with three misdemeanors. The charges are Hindering Apprehension, Possession of a Dangerous Drug and False Report to a Police Officer.

The drug charge was for a prescription drug that was in the house that Dunn did not have a prescription for.


She's standing by her man, poor Hailey...........

HAH! She slipped up! Now, can we, for sure, believe anything she says from here on out? What supporters she has had will dwindle now. I disagree that these charges have nothing to do with Hailey's disappearance! The search warrant for Adkins' body was for DNA/ hair samples, most likely to help in LE's investigation into Haleigh's disappearance. To say he wasn't at her house, Billie hindered the investigation, though she wasn't charged with that-lucky woman! Why lie for Adkins if he did nothing wrong where Haleigh is concerned?

UPDATE 11:34 a.m.: The Midland judge who signed a search warrant for Shawn Adkins declines to release information about the warrant. Here is the statement from the judge's court coordinator:

"On Thursday, March 17, Judge John Hyde authorized an evidentiary search warrant for Howard County law enforcement officers in connection with an existing criminal investigation.

"The search warrant is in possession of Howard County officers at this time and Judge Hyde declines to release any information regarding an ongoing criminal investigation."

Apparently, she's still doing drugs and hiding out the only "suspect" in her daughter's disappearance. I agree, Sherry.....why lie if there's nothing to hide.

Colorado City, TX – The mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn is being held on a $6,500 bond this morning after being arrested Thursday while law enforcement attempted to carry out a search warrant. (click here to view exclusive video of Billie Dunn inside the law enforcement center).

Billie Dunn was arraigned this morning; informed of her charges of hindering apprehension or prosecution, false report to a police officer, and possession of dangerous drugs. A judge set her bonds at $1,500 for the false report charge and $2,500 each for the two other charges.

Billie is probably pleased with her outfit. She likes the color orange as evidenced by the big orange bow that was on her front door and the orange "Missing Hailey" t-shirt she wears!

Regarding Dunn declining a court appointed attorney, I think she will stick to what she said at the very beginning as this case unfolded. Innocent people do not need an attorney! LOL

If they had her in detox after her arrest, she was more than likely stoned. I guess that's what they call the "drunk tank" these days.

If all she's worried about is getting high and hiding her suspect boyfriend from the law, I don't have any use for her. I was trying to give her a little benefit of the doubt that she wasn't involved and he had her smitten and fooled. Now I'm not so sure. She knows something.......

My guess is, no one has the money to bail her out. Let her sit there and get a grip on reality in detox. This isn't a game, your 13 year old daughter is missing! Tell what you know..........

Piper, yes! Diena Thompson of the Somer Thompson Foundation, Florida, flew to Texas to present Billie Jean Dunn with a grant . . . financial assistance to help pay her bills and for her other needs!

Also, Mark Klaas, of Klaas Kids supported Billie Jean Dunn and flew to Colorado City, Tx. I do not know if his foundation gave her any money though. He was very pro Billie Jean Dunn. He made some appearances with her on the Nancy Grade Show and offered her guidance!

I think it is very sad that Diena Thompson gave BJD a grant! After all, Somer Thompson was sexually assaulted and murdered. The suspect in Somer's case was arrested by tracking child porn that he left behind with a former room mate. At one time, he lived near Somer's home.

I really don't understand how Diena could have the audacity to donate money (grant) to Dunn when a lot was known about Dunn's lies at the time Diena flew to Texas. Shortly after (within days), it was announced about the 108,000 plus deviant images, child porn and bestiality. Also, the memory stick that was found in Billie Jean Dunn's home in her dresser drawer!
