Thomas ("TJ") Murray, Jr. -- Missing 10/19/11

Thomas ("TJ") Murray, Jr., a Sam Houston State University student at Huntsville, Tx, age 23, from Spring, Tx, went missing on October 19, 2011. He was last seen at a sports bar in The Woodlands/Spring, Tx area.

Earlier in the evening TJ umpired a Little League baseball game.

It has been reported that investigators in the case said TJ spoke to his father about 12:30 a.m. on 10-19-11. TJ's cell phone was later found in a ditch near the bar and his father's truck, which TJ was using, was found in the parking lot of a sports bar.

Thomas Murray, Sr. is pleading for the safe return of his son or information regarding the disappearance of his son.

Per Lt. Dan Norris with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Texas EquuSearch has joined the search for TJ Murray.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- A university student has been missing for more than a week.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said Thomas "TJ" Murray, 24, was last seen at Rookies sports bar on Sawdust Road shortly after midnight on Oct. 19. He spoke with his father at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday to say he would not be driving home.

Murray's father said his son got separated from his friend and was outside the bar, but could not get back inside.

A desperate father is pleading for help finding his missing son who attends Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

TJ Murray, 24, was last seen last Wednesday at a sports bar near The Woodlands.

"We are all worried. His little brother is his best friend. He's 11, and we just want him back," said Tom Murray, TJ's father.

TJ was last seen leaving a sports bar on Sawdust Road near the Woodlands shortly after midnight last Wednesday.

Update: The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is looking at surveillance videos of businesses in the area where missing Sam Houston State University TJ Murray, 24, was last seen on Oct. 18 and 19, Lt. Dan Norris said.

The search now underway by Equusearch is "just a starting point," Norris said, which is why it's taking place near where Murray was last seen.

The parents of Thomas Murray Jr., also known as TJ, said their son has been missing since Oct 19, 2011. They have had no contact nor has there been any activity on his charge cards. Authorities are searching for a 24-year-old Sam Houston State University student who was last heard from by family members last week after leaving a sports bar in Montgomery County.

Thomas Murray Jr., who is nicknamed T.J., was seen leaving the bar on Sawdust Road just after midnight Wednesday, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. He spoke with his father from his cell phone about 30 minutes later, but no one in his family has seen or heard from him since.

Thomas (TJ) Murray Jr. (24) was last seen leaving a sports bar on Sawdust Road shortly after midnight on October 19, 2011.

Murray last spoke with his father by phone around 12:30 AM and no one has heard from him since that time. Murray’s cell phone was later found near the sports bar in a ditch and his pickup truck was in the parking lot.

TJ is a student at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and though currently living in Huntsville his family lives in South Montgomery County.

My prayers and thoughts are with the family of TJ Murray.

I hope TJ is found safe. Hopefully, the surveillance videos from nearby businesses will generate some leads for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

TJ has been missing for a week. His truck was in the parking lot of the Sports Bar and his phone was found in a nearby ditch.

His family, who he kept in regular contact with, have not heard from him since his dad last spoke to him via phone on 10-19-11. TJ's friends have not heard from him either.

This does not look good. MCSO needs leads in this case.

Texas EquuSearch will resume their search at daybreak.

Authorities have stepped up their search for a Sam Houston State University student who went missing after visiting friends at a Montgomery County sports bar last week.

Texas EquuSearch is canvassing the area near I-45 and Sawdust road today, using all-terrain vehicles and conducting foot searches in wooded areas.

EquuSearch's Ken DeFoor said the search has not yet turned up new details.

Missing college student appears to have vanished without a trace

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- It's now been more than a week since a Sam Houston State University student was last seen and although investigators at this point say there are no signs of foul play in TJ Murray's disappearance, they do say this case is unusual.

TJ Murray hasn't been heard from since early on October 19. He was seen last at a sports bar. Since that time, there's not a trace of him. His father says it's as if he vanished.

In the eight days since TJ was last seen, his father has struggled to maintain a singular focus.

I am very familiar with The Woodlands and the area from where TJ was last seen. This is not an area with dumpy Sports Bars. It is hard to believe that TJ could go missing from this area.

Hopefully, MCSO will be able to recover some activity on surveillance videos/tape in the area from the surrounding businesses. At least something to generate leads!

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Search-and-rescue crews continued their efforts Thursday to find a missing Sam Houston State University student in Montgomery County.

T.J. Murray, 24, was last seen leaving Rookie’s sports bar on Sawdust Road, shortly after midnight on October 19.

Investigators said he spoke with his father on the phone around 12:30 a.m. that day, but no one has had any contact with him since then.

Murray’s phone was found in a ditch near the bar, and his pickup truck was located in a nearby parking lot.

Friends of T.J. Murray, the 24-year-old Oak Ridge High School graduate and Sam Houston State University student who went missing Oct. 19, are planning a vigil for him from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday on the football field at Oak Ridge High School.

"I know everyone's going to want to come," said Kendra Lipscomb, one of the vigil organizers and a friend of Murray's since elementary school.

"He's an amazing person," she said. "If you ever needed someone, you could count on him. In elementary school, he had cancer and he made it through it.

"He's been a friend to everyone."

Murray and Lipscomb graduated from ORHS in 2006, she said.

The 24-year-old ORHS grad and Sam Houston State University student went missing Oct. 19 after he was last in contact with his father Tom Murray, an ORHS teacher for 25 years, around 12:30 a.m. while at the On The Rox Sports Bar and Grill located at 592 Sawdust Road.

I got confirmation today, from a reliable source, that TJ Murray was 23 years old when he went missing. His birthday is in November.

TJ's age has been reported as 23 and 24 by media sources as this case unfolded.

I continue to monitor TJ's case closely.

There have been no main stream media updates yesterday or today.

As this case unfolded, an earlier article indicated there was an incident in the bar involving TJ. There were no details. No other info about that incident has been disclosed.

Rumors abound regarding the incident but I am not a proponent of the rumor mill.

It would not do this thread or the reputation of Reality Chatter justice to post rumors. Reality Chatter is not about posting rumors.

So . . . I will patiently wait for more info on this case via main stream media or perhaps a Press Conference by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Nothing new on TJ!

I monitor our local news from Houston in hopes there will be info about TJ or the status of the case but there is nothing.

A press conference regarding the status of the case would be nice.

Some one has to know something.

In the comments under some of the mainstream media articles, there were comments made about what could have happened but I don't post rumors and there is no verification if the person(s) making the comment is legit! For all I know, the person could be in another country acting like they live in The Woodlands, Tx area.

This is so odd that the local mainstream media have just quit covering this case. I bet if this was an attractive female college student, there would still be media coverage.

Prayers and thoughts for TJ Murray and his family!

Special prayers for TJ and his family! I hope TJ is found soon. ♥

On Saturday, November 19, 2011, it will be a month that TJ Murray went missing.

There is no media coverage on this case any longer. I find that unusual for the greater Houston area.

Perhaps on the one month anniversary of TJ gone missing there will be an update regarding the status of the case.

In the interim, special prayers for TJ and especially for his family.

Search Continues For Missing SHSU Student

It's been one month since T.J. Murray, a Sam Houston State University student, went missing, and his disappearance has left more questions than answers.

It's been one month since T.J. Murray, a Sam Houston State University student, went missing, and his disappearance has left more questions than answers.

While the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says no physical searches are underway, the search is still very active.

"I touch it everyday before I go to work," said T.J.'s father, Tom Murray, while putting his hand on T.J.'s car.

HUNTSVILLE (November 17, 2011)—Nearly a month has passed since Sam Houston State University student T. J. Murray, 24, disappeared after leaving a sports bar and the search appears to have hit a dead end.

Murray went to the On the Rocks sports bar in Spring with friends after umpiring a Little League game and called his father to tell him he was leaving his father’s truck at the bar while he rode with friends to another club.

He later called his father and told him he’d leave the truck at Oak Ridge High School.

That was on Oct. 19, the last time he was heard from.

Per this video, TJ's family cleaned out his apartment in Huntsville, Tx today. Sam Houston State University is in Huntsville (TX) and it is where TJ attended college.

I just finished sending e-mails to the News Director/Staff of mainstream media in the greater Houston, Tx area requesting an update to TJ Murray's missing person case.

In addition, I sent e-mails to reporters that authored previous articles and requested an update.

E-mails sent to the following media on 11-18-11:

The Houston Chronicle

KTRK (Ch 13 - ABC)

KPRC (Ch 2 - NBC)

KHOU (Ch 11 - CBS)

KRIV (Ch 26 - FOX)

Hopefully, at least one of these media sources will do an update on TJ Murray! It would be nice if they all did an update!

Family of missing student ‘heartbroken’ without him

As the holidays draw near and his son’s birthday approaches, Tom Murray struggles with the few leads in the case of his missing son, TJ.

It’s been a month since the father and son were in contact in the early morning of Oct. 19 when TJ called his father to inform him he would not drive his truck after an evening of drinks with friends. The next morning, Tom found his truck in the parking lot of the On The Rox bar on Sawdust Road.

While TJ’s cell phone was later found in a nearby ditch, all investigators have clear is that the 24-year-old had umpired at an Oak Ridge Woodlands Area Little League game on Oct. 18 before drinking with friends. An umpire with ORWALL and a student studying business and psychology at Sam Houston State University, TJ seemed to simply vanish after a friend returned from the restroom and he was nowhere in sight, Tom Murray said.
