She addressed herself first to her 13-year-old daughter, saying that "not a minute" passes without her crying and praying for her return.

"Wherever you are Hailey, I love you and hundreds of people are looking for you," she said. "I just want to see your beautiful face. I desperately need you home."

COLORADO CITY - It's been more than a month and there's still no word on missing Colorado City teen Hailey Dunn. On Monday, Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn spoke out again during a press conference, hoping her words will help bring Hailey back home.

Dunn tells NewsWest 9, she has her own order of events of how Hailey's disappearance went down.

In Monday's press conference, Dunn wanted to explain the events that happened before and after the disappearance of her daughter .

Reading the timeline, it looks as though Billie is sticking in the bits that LE have already said cannot be substantiated and discounted.

I also notice that after "withdraws money from ATM" she did not add "Shawn and Billie purchase drugs".

There is a part of me that so wants this mother to be totally unaware of what has happened to poor Hailey, but it's not the feeling that I am getting.

She seems so young herself. Does anyone know why the boyfriend quit his job that day? I know originally it was stated he was fired, then it was stated he wasn't.

I don't believe her. I just plain don't believe her. What a self-serving 'presser'. I think that Billie and her boyfriend will both be arrested in this case. I guess time will tell. kh

Mother: Witness Saw Hailey Dunn The Night She Disappeared

Billie Dunn, the mother of missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, told reporters this week that a witness saw her daughter with another girl at 8:30 pm on the day she disappeared, hours after suspect Shawn Adkins said he last saw her.



At a press conference outside her home in Colorado City on Monday, Dunn read a lengthy prepared statement defending herself against what she said were inaccurate media reports, criticizing investigators and laying out her own detailed timeline of events surrounding her daughter’s disappearance. Hailey Dunn was reported missing on December 28, and Adkins—Billie Dunn’s boyfriend—told police he had not seen her since around 3:15 pm the day before when she told him she was going to spend the night at a friend’s house.

According to previous reports, the friend never saw Hailey that day, but Dunn claimed Monday that a witness saw both girls walking with a teenage boy on Hickory Street in town around 8:30 that night. Dunn also said two neighbors had seen Hailey around noon.

She expressed frustration that authorities seemed to be disregarding information from these witnesses and others who believe they saw Hailey on December 27. However, city manager Pete Kampfer told KTXS that the witness accounts Dunn was referring to could not be validated.

Dunn complained that many of her interviews and media appearances had quoted her out of context in ways that wrongly made her statements seem inconsistent. She also said she did not understand why police were not releasing the names of other persons of interest who they want to locate and question. In response to that criticism, Kampfer told KTXS that authorities do not want to tip off anyone they are looking at by publicly identifying them.

Dunn also said that the reports of her holding a “New Year’s Eve party” after Hailey disappeared, as alleged in search warrant affidavits, are “absurdity beyond belief,” but family members were at her home that night to comfort her.

Aside from the alleged sightings of Hailey on December 27, the timeline Dunn presented was largely consistent with the facts established in previous statements and court documents. According to her, Shawn Adkins returned to her house at 3:00 after quitting his job in the morning and then visiting relatives. Adkins told her that Hailey left about 15 minutes after that. Dunn said that she reported Hailey missing at 2:00 pm the next day when she learned that the teen had not stayed at her friend’s house.

An attorney for Adkins has repeatedly denied that he was involved in Hailey’s disappearance, but he is the only suspect authorities have named in the case.

At the beginning of Monday’s statement, Billie Dunn spoke directly to Hailey, saying that she desperately needed her daughter home. “You’re the most beautiful girl I ever laid my eyes on,” she said, “and I’m very proud God chose me to be your mother.”

whats everyones thought on this case? I want to believe hailey is still with us and her mom knows nothing, but I also have to go with my instint and know thats unrealitic.

I would like to believe that to,but deep in my heart I think she is Dead,I think bf had something to do with it,I think mother knows something,she has lied so many times,an I think they will find her soon..I hope that is not the case,anytime a house is in the drug market,bad things happen..time will tell.I really feel sad,either way,if someone has her she is in some horror.God will bring it to the light....Hailey were still looking....

My feelings are the same as yours. I want to believe she is alive but yet it just seems unrealistic to believe that. I'm not sure that mom is involved in any way other than being stupid enough to take her bf back after he made threats against her and Hailey's dad. BF is very much involved, imo.

When the recess bell rang, the voices disappeared and the pleas for her own little girl began.

"I'm so envious when I see mothers with their daughters in stores, or during the searches," Dunn said from her living room Wednesday afternoon. "I've learned how lucky I am to be a mother."

Hailey Dunn Suspect Speaks, Calls Investigation “Witch Hunt”

In an exclusive interview with CNN affiliate KTAB this week, Shawn Adkins spoke extensively for the first time since being named a suspect in the disappearance of his girlfriend’s teenage daughter and responded to some of the allegations investigators have made against him.



Adkins, 25, was the last person known to have seen 13-year-old Hailey Dunn on December 27, when he claims she told him she was going to spend the night at a friend’s house. The friend has reportedly said she never saw Hailey that day.

Colorado City, Texas authorities have identified Adkins as their only suspect in the case at this point, citing inconsistencies in his statements and suspicious behavior. In search warrant affidavits, they detailed some of those inconsistencies, but Adkins told KTAB that most of the information contained in those documents is inaccurate.

Adkins explained conflicting reports about whether he quit his job on the morning of December 27 or was fired, saying that he told investigators the truth—that he quit—but he initially told Hailey’s mother Billie Dunn that he was fired to avoid having a fight with her over it.


Asked about cell phone pings suggesting he was in the Colorado City area after leaving work while investigators say he told them he had gone to his mother’s house in Big Spring, he insisted that he was never asked specifically when he went where so those records do not contradict his story.

According to the affidavits, Adkins deleted information about his call history from his phone while police were interviewing him. “That never happened,” he told KTAB.

Adkins also denied making a comment to Hailey’s uncle about how hurting a 13-year-old girl would be like killing a deer. He said the uncle told him he had never told that to authorities. “I love animals,” he said. “I wouldn’t hurt animals either.”

He admitted that he has not been cooperating with investigators since hiring a lawyer because his attorney told him not to talk to them. He called the investigation a “witch hunt” and said that he did not trust the police anymore because “they were just trying to pin it on somebody, which was me.”

In the interview, Adkins told KTAB that he and Hailey got along well and he had no idea why her friends would say she was afraid of him. He denied claims in the affidavits that he admitted to investigators that he threatened Hailey’s life during a domestic dispute with Billie Dunn in February 2010. He acknowledged that he and Billie had a “rocky” relationship and that he threatened her, but he insisted, “I never made any threats toward Hailey.”

He also commented on photos and videos posted online of him and a relative in horror costumes, saying that those were taken for Halloween and he does not dress up like that regularly. He defended his collection of horror movie memorabilia and serial killer articles as no different from hobbies other people have, such as collecting Star Wars memorabilia.

Adkins said that he understands that people want somebody to blame for Hailey’s disappearance but it is unfair for them to continue blaming him, despite him being the last person to see her and having been unable to pass a polygraph test. He told KTAB that “I’m not a monster like some people have made me out to be…I’m just a regular guy and I love my girlfriend, I love Hailey and David, and I would never do anything to hurt her or him.”

When asked why some people the KTAB reporter had spoken to were afraid of retribution by him, Adkins said they were just scared “because of what they heard on Nancy Grace” and nobody has anything to worry about.

Shawn Adkins was obsessed with horror and slasher films. He wore his costumes more than Halloween and analysis of his interview shows that he enjoys the status of one that people fear. Like a freak and a monster in the videos he idolizes, he posed like a twisted killer but wants people to think this is no different than Star Wars.

National search teams return to find Hailey Dunn

Bad weather and low turnout has stalled the search for 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, missing from Colorado City since Dec. 28, but three national search organizations are planning to return this weekend to bring momentum back to the search.

Volunteers from the KlaasKids Foundation of California and the Laura Recovery Center for Missing Children of Houston will return and will be joined by Team Amber Rescue of San Diego. Team Amber Rescue formed after the abduction and murder of Amber DuBois in 2009.

"All together we will have close to 20 volunteers coming," said Brad Dennis of the KlaasKids Foundation.

Naomi Stewart, girlfriend of Clint Dunn, confirmed to KTAB's Priscilla Luong that Clint Dunn remains behind bars.

Stewart says he was arrested for a warrant regarding an expired driver's license.

We're told Dunn will likely be released Friday morning.

Bad news about Hailey's father, terrible time to be arrested and be behind bars. That must have been an old charge he hadn't taken care of, I assume.

Sounds like total BS to me! Expired license? "Backing up unsafely"??? What the heck is goin on here????? PLUS they were outstanding warrants! They've been hangin out there a while. Why arrest him now? I smell hinky! kh

I wondered that myself, kh. If there was a warrant, it wasn't a recent charge.

Warrants like that can be outstanding for years. It's not like the local PD actively pursue these kinds of warrants. If you were to be pulled over for something else they would run a warrant check and would bring you in (by law) to satisfy that outstanding warrant. Most counties even have "amnesty" days once a year to try to get people with piddly paperwork warrants/fines off the books. So it seems very strange to me.

Also, historically, LE may arrest a suspect or person of interest on an old outstanding warrant just to have them in custody to interrogate them............ I sure hope this is not the case.

Good points, kh. I had wondered if the LE brought him in under a warrent pretense yet had bigger fish to fry with him.

I hope that's not the case either, we've seen it many times before.

Charges unrelated to his daughter's disappearance

Clint Dunn, the father of 13-year-old Hailey Dunn, who has been missing since Dec. 28, was jailed in Scurry County after turning himself in on three charges.

Clint Dunn, 33, told the Reporter-News that he planned to go “sit out a few days in jail,” so he could be credited for some fines associated with probation violation and several warrants.

Dunn turned himself in at the Scurry County Jail on Feb. 15 for a county court commitment. According to jail officials the current charges include a probation violation for possession of marijuana, expired drivers license and unsafe backing.

The charges are not associated in any way with his daughter’s case, who has been missing for almost two months.

“He is getting out in the morning,” said his girlfriend Naomi Stewart. “He thought it would be a good place to be alone and think.”
