Jodi Arias--Trial for the murder of Travis Alexander #16

IMO she did not kill Travis cuz he didn't want to marry her or was not taking her to cancun...he was killed because he learned "her secret" and was threatening to tell her parents and friends because he had had enoughn of her BS.
She spent years hiding her life from her parents and everyone and feared being exposed.
So she killed him and proposed a ridiculous plea and threats to expose Travis if she didn't get 2nd degree.
IMO, her main goal was to disgrace Travis and everyone who knew him, she didn't care what sentence she got, all she wanted was to beat Travis to the punch and "tell on him" before he "told on her". Immature as Dr. D said..

Stina... I think it's a combination of both... TA was done with her (no marriage, not even cancun) and she started all these antics to get him back and spy/stalk him... it didn't work and when he found out and threatened to tell of her behavior... she had to stop it because she's lost him and now will lose any other potential suitors if he tells this close knit group of people... To her he betrayed her on several levels and she was going to have her way with him and nobody else will...

ITA...in my haste I neglected that part lol...I think she tried all her little psycho tricks from her psycho past on Travis to get a ring on it and Travis called her out on her sick ways and was gonna expose her....she could not have that!

A little off subject: I watch HLN after dark and have really been upset with this new defense lawyer ( the man who defended Simpson for his last trial). He can't stay on subject. He tries to defend Jodi's entire story not the limited question. No wonder Simpson hired him. To believe him you have to believe Jodi how stupid can someone be. The woman is good but not him.

PHOENIX (AP) — An ex-girlfriend of the man Jodi Arias says she killed in self-defense testified Tuesday that with her, the victim was never physically or verbally abusive.

Deanna Reid said she dated Travis Alexander for several months before she went to Costa Rica in 2000 to serve a Mormon mission. The couple broke up while she was away.

They rekindled their relationship in 2002, but Reid said they broke up again about three years later because Alexander wasn't ready for marriage, while she wanted to settle down. They remained friends until his death, she said.

"Would he ever call you names?" prosecutor Juan Martinez asked Reid.

"No he did not," she replied.

I know, it's pathetic. Big man with low blows. I'm sure the jury seen it the same way and it didn't go over too big with them either. Nurmi exposed himself for what he really is when he questioned Deanna the way he did. She kept her pose and dignity and told the truth all the way. Nurmi tried to corner her with that e-mail or text (whichever) when after asking her if she had sex after confessing to the Bishop, but it backfired on Nurmi because it wasn't what Travis was talking about at all. That blew Nurmi trying to make her into a liar. I guess he listened to Hoadi when she told him that they (Deanna) and Travis were still having sex.

Hoadi is out to destroy anyone at all that was connected to Travis, even his own family.

As much as I'm hooked on the live testimony, I have to say, I'm somewhat amazed at the admittance of some people.. Claiming to 'just know' TA, to have dreamt how the murder went down ect ect.

That would be called jury tampering, in my book.

Yes. Until we understand the expectations, structure, customs, etc. of the religion and of the people, until we can "wrap our heads" around the way of life we can not appreciate the culture. There are more people not like us than there are people like us but that is not a reason to throw up a bias; rather, it is a reason to expand our knowledge. Not everyone is in to the current main stream America--- not saying it is good or bad just it isn't. Each of us is a puzzle piece jockeying for our place in the giant puzzle of time and life.

I am a conservative (by today's opinions) so I appreciate the structure rules use to help create a stable community. When I see JA, I see a person less structured than Deanna; JA does not appear to "be comfortable in her own skin" while Deanna IS comfortable with whom she is; Travis was more like Deanna than JA but JA offered the excitement, the break from structure... a peek into the forbidden city, if you will. When Travis realized this was not the life he wanted for himself, when he realized he wanted to settle down, he tried to move on but JA was there to devil him, threaten him, try to claim him. Again and again and again she took liberties with another she was NOT entitled to; she truly had NO BOUNDARIES.

No! He only attempted to humiliate her and shame the Church. She is strong and so is the religion. She had grace and presence and was NOT bullied by him. BTW, had he REALLY dismantled her and she went to tears, he would have lost the jury. Just having Travis' brother and sister crying as Nurmi tried to cast down upon the family (Blame the Victim mode) was not just terrible for the family but JA was alarmed and Wilmot was wide-eyed... and they were looking at the family AND the jury. Nurmi fell on his proverbial sword, IMO. He definitely was placing blame on Travis for the murder JA committed.

One of the talking heads on HLN said when pervi knurmi was going after DR with the sex talk that 1 of the jurors looked offended/ horrified for DR... something along those lines that KN mis-read the jury and that stunt didn't play well...

I was a serial dater growing up and I was thinking about how i did things and it made me think of how TA ended up with JA. Last night on Dr. Drew they were talking about if the girls at PPL and church would go after TA since he was available... Clancy said "I think Travis was looking for a wife, so they all were, you know, trying to put themselves out there for that, because he was very well-respected and everyone loved him. But, you know, he, he had some high standards too. So how Jodi fit into that picture, I`m still not really sure." And that got me thinking... When dating and it's the same kind of person over and over and it's not really working so go outside the box, date someone totally different then what you have been... In comes JA, she wasn't raised LDS but was/did convert to it so she would be someone he could date. JA had past relationships that included living with the person so she should know about privacy and personal space, TA couldn't live with any of his girlfriends... JA had sex appeal, a sexual way about her, LDS women can't be like that. JA has had several sexual partners and was way more experienced then the heavy petting or limited experience that TA had. JA showed him the other side of the coin, what 'mainstream' and beyond sexual relations were that was new to him. So know he's dated a girl that is the polar opposite of everyone he has ever dated and comes to the conclusion that this isn't for him and that he likes the girls he use to date that were respectable and not easy... What he was doing wasn't working and I think realized that sometimes staying in the box is best because at least you know what you're dealing with. He felt pressure to find a wife, he was 30 and that's "old" so he broadened his horizons but the gamble didn't pay off.

Posted this last night but made some changes...

getting quite a few thoughts going... a lawyer said that if the Dt gets to rebutt the rebutt then it would only be to cover new info which they said was the BPD... and that would be the only thing they can talk about, restricted to it only.... but Dr. S did bring it up so why can't JM expand on it as a more plausible reason for JA's behavior? he didn't pull it out of his ass, it was mentioned by their expert....

Next... heard that there is a travel/cancun witness to say JA was removed from the ticket... Maybe they were in chambers because that's who was next... there was a motion entered to stop some of the rebutt witnesses... Dt fighting that it can't come in because it wasn't in direct but isn't rebutt to clean up the dteam's CIC? JA said on the stand that she knew about the trip but was never scheduled to go on it and didn't care that she wasn't after a long pause... this witness would rebutt her lie... maybe the argument in chambers was eating up to much time and JSS said let's dismiss the jury and we'll handle it in the morning and have a late start...

well thanks to nasty Nurmi I woke up with a lovely fever blister. I really got enraged over the fact he was allowed to cross DR on subject matter not brought up during direct..nevermind the innapropriate questions regarding HER private business he also slapped a friggin email or IM..whateve..down and had her read it..WHY was that allowed?
I did not watch any of the talking heads last night because hubby banned me from all things related after listening to me rant about it for about 5 minutes when he first walked thru the door..so want to ask did any of them..Dr. Drew..Nancy..Jane or Vinnie even mention this? Am I completely wrong in thinking this was against normal courtroom procedures? I simply can not understand why this judge allowed Nurmi to question this witness in the manner that he did or why Juan did not object.
