Pianist-
I like us. I think we are pretty good people here at RC.
We can pull together as a team and that is the very best thing about us... We actually care about others and we care about our society. We are not apologists in our passions for our caring.

Huh? Whoa-whoa-whoa! You got a link on this?
Whose mom is Dr. Drew?
Who was JA effing with all the time?
Was this in Mesa?
Was this the Rachael person?

One of Travis' friends reported Travis as saying JA was a nympho.
Well, most "shy" girls/women don't have all that much interest in anal sex, IMO.
JA had stated how shy she was when she approached Bobby and then Travis...and I do NOT see JA acting shy in front of ANY male. Perhaps, in her own twisted way, JA felt the fear of rejection and that is what she calls "shy"... but to grind away on Ryan right after leaving Travis? Never mind she had just killed him! She also just had sex with him!!! And then, after the memorial service, she was busy hooking up with some man on the airplane ride? She has a real sex addiction. Uses sex in place of really communicating with another with the normal exchange of words... Shocked

I bet he'd love to have one of those Craftmatic beds, with a series of Hoverounds attached to it so he could "'ject" and approach more easily. Maybe some minor frame modifications to the bed to mount a Mountain Dew IV drip?

Watch Jodi in agreement when Juan points out that she is asking to see the photos, only so she can tailor her story to them. It's subtle, but definite nodding of agreement. Bizarre...

Mylife101 wrote:Do you all think that Juan's closing argument was more or less damaging than HodiHo expected it to be? I would expect that JW and KN likely warned her that it wouldn't be pretty.

IMO, the two things that seemed to bother JA the most were when JM walked the jury through his version of the murder. I think she was upset and surprised by how accurate his version was. The other thing was when he walked the jury through the jury instructions and showed how each requirement for M1 had been met by Hodi's crime.
IMO, JA lives in this fantasy world. She thinks she is in control of everyone and everything of value in her world. She just got her undies yanked up her crotch today, IMO. What bothered me the most, however, was how impassive her mother was as she sat there occupying a seat. Almost like the mother was there waiting to send her daughter off on some bon voyage trip or something. Cold and impersonal. That told me more of JA's childhood than anything we have heard.

JA just found out she is NOT above the law. Not in AZ. Hopefully, "not in God's green countryside" either. The moment of reality hit JA. I don't think it has hit her mother yet. I think her brother Joseph, sicko, is probably pretty impressed with ALL the PR his sister has gotten. Her father? IMO, he is deeply saddened and frustrated by his daughter and will die wondering what he could have done differently. Angela: Angela was just baptized by the fire of reality and is probably scared and saddened by her sister; she and her father are probably closer because of this. The older brother we have not heard a word from -- Carl. I am sure he is just wanting to escape it all. HE is the one who KNOWS best what JA is/was all about.

I have this weird disconnect re: her mother. I saw one woman in the interrogation room sobbing and asking aloud how anyone could do this, how could her daughter come home acting like nothing had happened and then appear to fall to pieces after she was "notified" of Travis' death - all the sorts of reactions one would expect from a normal person. But in the courtroom she is like a wooden twin of her dispassionate daughter and it appears to go all the way through, not just some skin deep act in order not to give away her feelings.

Yeah, I saw that when I was watching live earlier today. That was really strange. Lot's of strange behaviour from her today. Maybe tomorrow she's brought in strapped to a handtruck, wrapped in a straightjacket, and a mask. Could only wish... probably too "prejudicial" Shocked

Really weird, I agree. Caught her smirking many other times, too, and giving him dirty looks.

And grandma is smiling a few seconds later as if Juan just told a cute story about her adorable little granddaughter. ?? Well, her mom has an actual human expression on her face for a change...

Hmm - did see that. Shocked

I'm watching the part where Travis says in the text argument that she is the worst thing that ever happened to him. I love it that this comes right from the horse's mouth. In the context of the closing, here is the truth before the jury's eyes that, IMO, makes things so plain.

Trying not to be haunted by the Pinellas 12. Feeling somewhat heartened. He did put so many things together in sequence so well. He even brought in the tire slashing and no one even blinked.

This is making me nuts, LOL. Throughout this I have had no interest in her nudie pics, but these type comments make me go "huh?" I've only ever seen censored pix. Morbid curiosity occurring.

I had my wife watch a blip and asked her what kind of shirt he was wearing - without prompting, seriously, the answer was "LA Mexican Wedding Shirt". Ouch. Term isn't the most appropriate, but she grew up there, not me. roflao

I get what you're saying, but let's think of this Pianist:

STATE:
a. JM can speak and drive a point.
b. JM can back up assumptions by logic
c. JM can back up accusations by fact

DEFENSE:
a. Screech and Fats can perform the following well and dutifully;

1. dirty looks
2. gossip
3. get as cozy in front of a jury in your recliner as you would your family on a Sunday sports morning
4. smirk and laugh at the jury, then boot a few, to show "who's in power?"
5. shun Jodi as soon as the State shows the "No escaping this, hooker" closing #1.
6. file for damages against the State for lost wages for being forced to rep that hooker

Tomorrow will be hilarious. Don't know what Palin or Lurch could possibly say to make even the most tiny of dents in the foundation Juan set today. Justice For Travis. Jodi Arias--Trial for the murder of Travis Alexander #18 - Page 15 759197

Well, it was hard to pick a favorite, but loved this:
The succubus in human form doodled with a palpable rage at the defense table, seething in her own furious juices as Juan spelled out his case for premeditation. Her scribbling only grew more intense as he drove each point home, until finally she started smirking, shaking her head, giggling, and muttering to herself in the bubble of arrogance she likes to call victimhood. Like your typical battered woman.

So often, satire really reaches, but every word of this was right on point.

I, too, really enjoy being here. I've not been here that long, but it's a great place to speak of those things that are distressing, amusing, or just plain weird with others who "get" our obsession. :)

No denying how irksome that is. So tired of everyone dancing to her tune. It must be what makes her still convinced that she will get her way - at least that's what that guy from that bastion of journalism, The National Enquirer, said. It almost blew me away, but of course, she's not in a position to know how people are reacting to her. Well, dream on, Jodi, because it won't be long until no one pays a bit of attention to you, and your demands and desires will not be of interest to anyone.

a. Screech and Fats can perform the following well and dutifully;

1. dirty looks
2. gossip
3. get as cozy in front of a jury in your recliner as you would your family on a Sunday sports morning
4. smirk and laugh at the jury, then boot a few, to show "who's in power?"
5. shun Jodi as soon as the State shows the "No escaping this, hooker" closing #1.
6. file for damages against the State for lost wages for being forced to rep that hooker

Tomorrow will be hilarious. Don't know what Palin or Lurch could possibly say to make even the most tiny of dents in the foundation Juan set today. Justice For Travis. Jodi Arias--Trial for the murder of Travis Alexander #18 - Page 15 759197

LOL.

I think you forgot the dirty stories, though. How else can Nurmi communicate verbally?

This is true. I actually believe that since I've begun watching this trial, Nurmi has actually REGRESSED on the scale of evolution.

Perhaps that's something Screech can research since she so into whether or not licensed professionals write papers or publish analysis. Would LOVE to see some of her research. Jodi's probably scrawling that in her coloring book now. Jodi, in short, this is what the state said to you today... LOL, too true!

You could be right about Nurmi regressing - I was fortunate enough to have missed his first forays. I'm pretty sure that JW is beginning to imitate her client instead of vice versa. Today she appeared to be coloring right alongside Jodi, was making faces, and both of them were removing and replacing their glasses regularly. The Bobbsey Twins they ain't, and it's very disturbing.

I am reviewing the vids of today.

Who is Dr. Cheryl Carp?

Juan Martinez mentioned her during his closing today.
Apparently, Dr. Carp tested JA and was the first to diagnose JA with PTSD. Dr. J. DeMarte, state expert witness, commented upon this Dr. Carp.
IF Carp was believable, WHY was she not on the stand?
Surely, she would have been preferable to Alyce, who was not allowed to test via her lack of degree, and Dr. Ducky who obviously fudged test results, AND both of them for having obvious biases and overstepping the boundaries of professionalism??

Where is Dr. Cheryl Carp and WHY was SHE not there to represent the testing she did?

I disagree with the assessment re JW.
I saw JA wanting human contact with JW.
JW, however, was intent listening to Martinez.Perhaps she was picking up pointers for her own "method" of lawyering.
JW appeared to grow more annoyed with JA's needs as the day wore on. At the end, Wilmott went to the bench to speak with the judge and JA appeared to be... alone.
Alone. As people got up to leave the court, JA looked out at them... looked at her family and Travis' family... and she watched them leave. There she sat, spun around in her chair and she held court with no one. No one was jumping up to see what "little" JA wanted. They were all going on with their own lives at the end of the day.

I think the realization has hit JA. We each have our own lives to attend to. Our lives ARE more important to us than her life is to us. By next week, she will be facing the most incredible word of her life: ALONE.

Wilmott has other cases and will be moving alone to them as does Nurmi. JA was just a passing case to make a few bucks. Yeah, in a way, JA --- the user--- was used herself to line the pockets of a few.

And time moves on.

Pianist wrote:It was such a good day and now I heard that after Juan has the last say it is possible that the defense will ask to have the last say and it will be granted. OMG please someone tell me that can not happen.
Standard procedure is the state gets the last word.
The burden of proof is upon the state so it is only fair the have the last possibility to try to prove their case. A lot of leeway is given to protect the right against self-incrimination and unfair prosecution so this is kind of balancing it out.

The prosecution had the rebuttal; should be last witness.
Not often but occasionally the defense will be granted a sur-rebuttal.
This was given to the defense probably because it IS a death penalty case.
However, the prosecution was then given the last witness when Dr. Horne and Dr. Hayes were given the opportunity to refute the testimony of Dr. Geffner, a sur-rebuttal witness.

I do NOT see the defense as having the last word.
Tomorrow, they will present their closing.
That will be followed by the state doing a final summation but they can only comment upon whatever the defense stated in the defense closing.

Maybe, we could get JA to do the closing as she originally wanted to represent herself? Laughing Shocked Laughing Shocked

Does anyone one think that both the Sloth and Whiny will give closing statements, kinda like a tag team? or if they will try to match the length of time that Juan was up there? Lord help us, I think he spoke for about 6 hours, give or take an hour or so, I'd rather have a unmedicated colonoscopy ass than listen to that. I plan to have the TV on tomorrow with the sound muted and will be reading here for updates.

This is why I believe JA was stealing from his bank acct via his ATM. There is NO other way she could have supported her lifestyle with the income she made from being a waitress. I have to wonder: Did JA also scam her employers?

Remember I kept saying it was something big he was going to expose, it wasn't about the Cancun trip, it was something else? Skye Hughes said those same words, Travis was getting ready to expose her. They never figured it out, however, I'm sure money was also involved. Usually, when you scam someone you take them for a ride. I don't doubt she did this also.

I agree. She sits all smug behind that defense team table now. It was really annoying to watch JA sit there and totally phase everything out around her, detached. JW appeared to be doing the same. This is like rude and disrespectful. This chick is there, facing DEATH. Maybe it's sinking in- like when she turned her chair around and was watching everyone leave and they seemed to ignore her.

I would like to be wrong, but I'm quite sure that she will get less than a man just because she is cute (regardless of her mind) and young and woman. If she were a man, he would get DP or LWOP in a row when I think that she will be out after ten years.

Good Morning everyone~
Like you all, I watched every single second of Juan's cross yesterday. He was just wonderful. I have nothing I can add except to say that he was amazing and tied everything up for the jury perfectly. He did it with no notes and with heart and soul for the victim and his family.
Juan truly is a hero.
Hubby got home at 5 Eastern time, so he too watched all the rest.
We both had tears and cheers for Juan!

I am NOT watching Nurmi today. Quite honestly, I want to experience the good feelings from Juan's closing a little longer. I don't know how anyone could seriously counter Juan's words. Everything he said made sense, and why? Because it was the truth.
My opinion is that Nurmi probably has had most of his 'speech' prepared for awhile, and I can't see what he could possibly add or change to refute Juan. His client is a liar and they are stuck with their outlandish, unbelievable, untenable, and insulting story. I am only guessing, but I don't think that Nurmi will speak for more than 2 hours or so. I fear it will be a 'diversionary' diatribe filled with plenty of sex talk and snippets of emails and journals calculated to paint Travis in the worst possible light.
I am just not up for listening to any more of that.

I'll be tuning in after lunch to see if Juan is up for rebuttal. I have a feeling Juan may have saved a few things for then. In any case, I know we will not be disappointed, and we can feel happy knowing that his voice of sanity is the last thing we and the jurors will be hearing!

I think later in the day the jurors will at least have a bit of time to begin deliberations, but it will be most likely more of introducing themselves to each other and choosing a foreperson.
Isn't it nice to know though that for the weekend, Juan's heartfelt words will have been what they heard last, and will probably be thinking of?

I want verdict day to come. I want to see the right thing done---a verdict of murder in the first for Jodi, and justice and a measure of peace for Travis.
I think on that day, the angels will sing.

I noticed that the judge was riveted and listening to Juan's every word. I loved that every time Nurmi objected, the judge cut him off with an INSTANTANEOUS "OVERULED"!!!

Yup. I think I saw all her inappropriate reactions yesterday, and she creeps me out bigtime. I alternate between wanting to vomit looking at her, and wanting to smash her in the face with my fist.
I kept thinking yesterday, 'I hope the jury is seeing all this. I hope they see her peeking at the photos from between her hands, and no real tears sliding down her face'. Even hubby noticed her face was not wet, and he kept saying how "creepy" she is...

Shocked

Yes, please...give us the details on what is mentioned here above!!!

OK... had to go to bed last nite, i'm usually almost asleep by 9pm and this trial has me all screwed up... The more typos then normal were because i was on the laptop and it felt like an alien keyboard since it was different...

OK on Dr. Drew a lady called in and her daughter lived with JA in the Palm Desert house for 3 weeks. JA told them that DB left her high and dry with the house.

While there JA was having sex all the time, ALL THE TIME!!! And would tell this girl to go to her room that she was going to have her bible study but the girl could hear everything that was going on.

The mom said she was surprised her daughter lasted that long after everything that she told her. the mom would call JA a functioning psychopath or some type of 'path'... The mom was all thinking of getting a restraining order against JA to protect her daughter because it got ugly...

She talked about stuff she didn't need to so they had to cut her off when time ran out but Dr. Drew said something like maybe having her on again...

Whew.... lol
