Gov. John Hickenlooper won’t be commenting on theater-shooting verdict

Life or death, Gov. John Hickenlooper won’t be weighing in on the jury’s verdict on the life or death of James Holmes Friday afternoon.

“If death penalty is determined in a case, there is still a lengthy legal process including a sentencing hearing, Supreme Court review, etc.,” according to a statement from his office.

“Protecting the integrity of active cases as they move through the judicial process is of the utmost importance to everyone involved so the governor will not comment.”

I was wondering why the jury didn't report a hung jury to the judge, and why he didn't give them an Allen charge.  I found the answer here (written by George Brauchler, specifically about this case; see #12 on page 5):
