TerriLynn St. John, a Virginia mother of two small children, vanished from her own front yard, and now she’s been reported as a missing person.

According to WTKR-TV, the scene in Wake, Virginia bore troubling signs of a potential struggle. The television station reported that St. John, 23, “went to her car in her front yard, preparing to take her children to daycare.” She disappeared after that point early on February 27, 2018. The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department is searching for the young woman, who vanished around 7:30 a.m.

The children are ages 3 and 1. Terry St. John, her father, told The Southside Sentinel newspaper, “Never, never, never” would she have left the children on their own.

According to the missing poster circulated in her case, TerriLynn St. John was last seen on February 27, 2018 in the morning hours. She had recently moved to Wake, Virginia.

“Her door was found open and her small children were found alone inside her home,” the missing poster reports. People with any information were urged to contact the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department at 804-758-2779 or by dialing 911. The missing person’s report says that Terrilynn is 23-years-old, 5 foot 6 inches tall, 130 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

A desperate search was on today for a Virginia mother who mysteriously vanished on Tuesday when she walked out into her front yard, leaving two young children she planned to take to daycare inside her house, authorities said.

TerriLynn St. John, 23, was reported missing Tuesday morning when she didn't show up for work, according to officials. She was last heard from about 7:30 a.m., according Maj. Michael Samson of the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office.

St. John's father went to the house in Wake, Virginia, after learning from his daughter's coworkers that she never made it to work, Samson said at a news conference today.

"He went over there and he found the door open, saw the children were alone and subsequently called the sheriff's office," Samson said, adding that the children were not injured.

St. John, who recently moved to Wake, had planned to drop her children off at daycare before heading to work, Samson said.

The father of a missing 23-year-old woman was clinging to hope as a long day faded to night on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.  “Hold on girl . . . we’re going to find you,” said Terry St. John.

The father had gone to the home of his daughter, Terrilynn, that morning after his older daughter discovered that Terrylynn’s children, ages 22 months and 3 years, were found alone. “Never, never, never,” would she have left them alone, said Mr. St. John. The front door was open and her car was still in the driveway, he said.

A somber group of family and friends kept vigil at 15 Mill Wharf Road near Wake Post Office in Middlesex County. They had thought of possible suspects who knew her . . . but had not come up with anything, said Mr. St. John, who feared this was a random abduction.

Body found near missing mother’s home

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. — A body has been discovered about two miles from the home of missing Middlesex mother TerriLynn St. John, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett.

A person has been taken into custody in connection to the death, those sources added.

The body, discovered Thursday morning, has not yet officially been identified by investigators.

Body found near missing Middlesex County mother’s home

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. – A body was found near the home of a 23-year-old woman who mysteriously went missing Tuesday morning, according to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say an unidentified body was found one mile away from TerriLynn St. John’s home in a wooded area. A man is in custody in connection to the death, law enforcement officials said.

The sheriff’s office said a tip led them to the body.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities have identified the body that was found Thursday morning in Middlesex County is 23-year-old Terrilyn St. John.

Detectives located the body at around 9 a.m. Thursday morning, roughly one mile away from St. John’s home on Mill Wharf Road in Wake.

On Thursday at 9 a.m. St. John’s body was discovered about one mile from her home on Mill Wharf Road. Her body was  found covered with leaves along Barricks Mill Road in Pine Top, Virginia.

The suspect was identified as Alvin B. Keyser, age 23. Keyser is an acquaintance of St. John. He showed authorities where St. John’s body was located.

She was not living with the father of her children at the time of her disappearance.

At a press conference, the sheriff’s office said more charges are expected and more people will be interviewed. Right now Keyser is only charged in connection.

The Middlesex Sheriff’s office said they investigated Keyser after a post was made on social media, which recounted statements Keyser made.

“The closure on this is not good closure, but it is closure,” said Middlesex Sheriff’s Major Michael Sampson, who thanked multiple law enforcement agencies, social media tips, and the media for their help with information.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. -- The man arrested in connection to the disappearance and death of once missing Middlesex mother TerriLynn St. John is now charged with her murder.

Alvin B. Keyser, age 23, has been charged with first-degree murder and concealing a dead body, so far.

“Keyser stated to detectives he confronted St. John at her residence about statements that were made about Keyser. Keyser stated that St. John struck him, and he struck her back he then pushed her out of the van Keyser was driving,” said Middlesex Sheriff's Major Michael Sampson in a statement.

Investigators say Keyser admitted that he pushed St. John out of the van, continued to hit her, and strangled her until she stopped breathing.

"Keyser then stated he loaded her in the van and put her body in the woods down from her residence,” said Sampson.
