This is likely what Mark was referring to when he commented that the detectives left a mess of his property. Well, the media is certainly not beating around the bush on this one.

I came into this case late by catching a couple of interviews that he gave on Tricia's True Crime Radio show. That was before Dylan's remains were found, and I'm wondering if those interviews may come back to haunt him.

Thanks for the updates.

I'm wishing there was something new to add, but there isn't.

I have embedded the timeline below.  It ends with the remains being identified as Dylan's--so the last searches of his father's home are not included; but the beginning stages of the investigation and earlier searches are well documented.

Redwine, 13, disappeared in the wooded area before Thanksgiving of last year while visiting his father, Mark Redwine. Dylan Redwine had moved to Colorado Springs with his mother during the summer of 2012.

Dylan Redwine’s remains were found in June, but no one has been charged in connection with his death.

Investigators said Friday’s search was routine and not related to any new leads.

Upper Pine Fire Chief Bruce Evans told the Pine River Times that authorities wanted to search before winter set in.

Investigators also were hoping that recent storms might have uncovered evidence.

DURANGO, Colo. - Family and friends of Dylan Redwine have scheduled two memorial services this Saturday to remember the boy who went to visit his Dad last year and disappeared.

Dylan's remains were found seven months later. No one has been arrested.

The family is planning a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dylan's grave site in Bayfield. A friend of the family said the memorial service is to "remember, reflect and hopefully provide closure."

A special candlelight vigil will also be held Saturday, at 6:30 p.m., at Limbach Park in Monument. The vigil is open to the public.

..."This is an active homicide investigation," La Plata County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Bender told 7NEWS. "The information we have is there is no reason for Dylan to go to Middle Mountain and there is no indication he did it on his own."

DURANGO, Colo. — Over 100 people including friends and family gathered in Bayfield, Colo. Saturday to remember Dylan Redwine, the 13-year-old who vanished while visiting his father over Thanksgiving break a year ago next week.

Seven months after vanishing while on vacation near Durango, investigators announced in June that they had recovered partial remains of the missing teenager. Despite the discovery, authorities have been unable to determine what or who may have killed the teen.

On Saturday, family and friends of Dylan Redwine gathered to dedicate a permanent memorial inside the Bayfield cemetery. The memorial bench, now on display with Dylan’s name engraved in stone, is what Dylan’s mother hopes will begin to bring closure.

“This past year has been a struggle and I have to ask why this happened to Dylan,” said Elaine Redwine on stage during Saturday’s memorial service.

DENVER – On a hot summer day one year ago, investigators gathered members of the press outside the La Plata County Sheriff's Department to share the news: Some remains of Dylan Redwine had been found on a mountain in Vallecito.

Having covered Dylan Redwine's disappearance from the beginning, I had been tipped off in advance about what was going to be discussed at the news conference. Yet, even with the warning, hearing those words come from La Plata County Sheriff's Spokesman Den Bender's mouth, left a pit not just in my stomach – but in the stomachs of every other reporter in attendance.

Many of us had spent months getting to know the residents of Bayfield and Vallecito. To us, they weren't strangers – they had become friends and family.

More than a year after investigators found partial remains of Dylan Redwine along a remote stretch of Middle Mountain Road north of Vallecito, authorities appear to be inching toward a decision about whether to bring charges in the case.

Supporters are optimistic they will finally have – as the posters urge – justice for Dylan.

“I actually believe it’s progressing,” said Lisa Bourque, a Vallecito resident who has become close friends with Dylan’s mother, Elaine.

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office investigators continue to meet at least once a week to go over the case, spokesman Dan Bender said. The investigators have reinterviewed witnesses and continue to process forensic evidence for possible clues. Last weekend, investigators spent three days going back over the area where Dylan’s remains were found in search of more evidence.

DENVER – 9Wants to Know has learned the father of Dylan Redwine has been released from Denver Health Medical Center after a bizarre early morning interaction with police led to a psychological evaluation.

Mark Redwine of Bayfield, Colorado, called 9Wants to Know investigator Melissa Blasius around 2:30 a.m. Saturday from a street corner in Denver. He said he thought police had him surrounded at a central Denver intersection.

Denver police tell 9Wants to Know that they were actually responding to a 911 call about someone acting irrationally who was possibly armed. After he was picked up, no weapon was found on Redwine. However, Redwine tells 9Wants to Know he had two guns in his truck nearby. He says he does not believe he is a danger to himself or others.

After his release from the hospital, Redwine told 9Wants to Know he was experiencing some paranoia at the time of the police incident. He attributes his state to a combination of feeling "stalked" by "haters", "monitored" by police, and "self-medicating".

Dylan Redwine's mom denied protection order

COLORADO SPRINGS – The mother of Dylan Redwine told a magistrate judge on Wednesday she fears her ex-husband might try to harm her and asked for a permanent civil protection order placed against him.

After four hours of testimony, the court denied her request.

Back in May, Elaine Redwine filed for a temporary protection order against Mark Redwine after he was hospitalized in Denver. Police officers discovered Mark Redwine on a random street in Denver standing outside his vehicle. Inside his vehicle, the officers found several guns registered to Mark Redwine.

Court documents show Elaine Redwine said the following to a judge, "My ex-husband was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation based on his paranoia of his involvement in the death of our son Dylan Redwine".

Tuesday marks two-year anniversary of Dylan Redwine's death

His remains were discovered in June 2013 on Middle Mountain. So far his killer hasn't been caught.

"[Dylan] was kind, sweet, funny, empathetic, brave and loved by many," Redwine's mother, Elaine, wrote on Facebook. "Sadly, we can't change what happened to Dylan, but we can and will continue to be his voice."

His mother reached out to hunters in La Plata County earlier this year asking them to keep an eye out for any evidence related to her son's disappearance and murder.

It’s been two years since Dylan Redwine vanished in Vallecito. But La Plata County CrimeStoppers is reminding locals and visiting hunters that its $50,500 reward for information relating to his disappearance is still on offer.

A poster distributed by CrimeStoppers appeals to all hunters and outdoor enthusiasts to look out for a black Hurley backpack, a blue and white Duke Blue Devils ball cap and a black Verizon LG Cosmos VN 250 phone.

“If you find anything that resembles these items, any remains or anything suspicious, do not disturb,” the poster says.

“Mark the location and call immediately the local police or CrimeStoppers.”

The release says the $50,500 cash reward could be yours so long as the information leads to the arrest and conviction of the “person(s) responsible for the this crime.”

MONUMENT – There are new developments in the case of a murdered Colorado boy. The La Plata County Sheriff’s Department says it’s investigating new activity related to Dylan Redwine’s death.

...In regards to the ‘new activity’ being investigated, the La Plata County Sheriff’s Department said it would not discuss anything related to the case.

“There are new pieces of information that we know and unfortunately because this is an ongoing investigation I can’t really speak to what they are,” Elaine Redwine, Dylan’s mother told us.

...This latest episode is said to be more revealing.

“There’s a plea from Dr. Phil to Mark to take the polygraph again. Dr. Phil was going to send [his lie detector test] out to wherever Mark was to take it. And Mark declined,” Elaine Redwine said.

On Wednesday, Dylan Redwine’s mother Elaine Redwine shared her thoughts on the investigation and two year-long mystery about her son’s disappearance and death.

La Plata County Sheriff's Office has identified a person of interest in the death of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine.

Sheriff's office spokesman Dan Bender said Wednesday that they are not naming the person, but that authorities are hopeful that the investigation of the teenager's 2012 disappearance and death is moving forward.

"When Dylan's human remains were found and identified, ever since that point, we've been trying to seek justice for him," Bender said. "This just feel like a few more steps toward that goal."

In addition to a person of interest, Bender said two searches conducted in June turned up "items of interest," as well.

"Because of information gathered from those searches and other contacts, we're planning on doing more searches in the area," Bender said.

Bender credited Pete Klismet, a retired FBI investigator who has been involved with the case, for recent progress.

DENVER - Investigators have identified a "person of interest" in the death of Dylan Redwine, according to a newspaper report.

A former FBI criminal profiler helped the investigators to zero in on their person of interest, the Durango Herald reported. However, investigators with the La Plata County Sheriff's Office make clear with the newspaper that this unidentified person is not a suspect.

Meanwhile, Dylan's mother, Elaine Haftield Redwine, filed a civil wrongful death lawsuit against her former husband, Mark Rewine, on Monday in Durango County District Court.

The lawsuit alleges that Mark Redwine breached his legal duty to provide proper parental care and "his conduct resulted in the death of their son, Dylan Redwine," the lawsuit states, according to the Herald.

Elaine Redwine's attorney, Amber Harrison, told 7NEWS Thursday, said she was surprised to hear investigators have identified a person of interest in the murder investigation.

...On Sunday night the mother of the slain teen gave an exclusive interview on The Case to Case Podcast -- but things took a shocking turn when Mark Redwine himself called the show.

...During the episode titled Justice For Dylan Redwine, Elaine accused her ex-husband of murdering their son and hiding his remains. She believes that someone (allegedly Mark) retrieved some of Dylan's remains -- possibly to prevent his cause of death from being discovered.

...The most shocking part of the show was in the last five minutes when Dylan's father Mark Redwine called in to defend himself and share his own comments after his ex-wife had been interviewed for around 30 minutes. It was during this brief portion of the show that he not only shrugged off the notion of taking another polygraph test to clear his name, but he made a startling confession. Mark Redwine admitted that he was the last person to see Dylan alive. This was something listeners of the show felt was a sort of confession, since Mark has long claimed that a mail carrier was the last person to see the lad before he was later found slain.

I knew there were partial remains found, but I didn't realize just how little they did recover (according to several blog sites, Mark Redwine had stated in some video interview that only 2% of Dylan's remains were found; I cannot find any MSM article that corroborates this).  Now I understand why the previous article I posted said Elaine was accusing Mark of removing/hiding Dylan's remains. With only bones from his foot, there was no way to determine cause of death. This case gets sadder as more information comes out.

DENVER (CBS4) – The mother of a boy who disappeared near Durango is talking about the latest developments in the case.

Last week investigators said they have a person of interest in Dylan Redwine’s death. Redwine disappeared in 2012 while visiting his father. His partial remains were found months later. Dylan’s mother, Elaine Hatfield, says she is confident the case will be solved soon and remains optimistic.

...Dylan’s mother still believes her ex-husband, Dylan’s father Mark Redwine, is responsible for their son’s death. Mark Redwine denies involvement.

“I know him. I know his relationship with the boys. I know his relationship with us, and quite honestly I know what evidence is out there and that just basically ferments my belief in that Mark did this to Dylan,” Hatfield said.

DENVER (CBS4) – The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday that the manner of death for Dylan Redwine has been changed from undetermined to a homicide, and the person of interest in his death is his father, Mark Redwine.

Earlier this summer the sheriff’s office announced they had identified a person of interest but hadn’t released the name until now.

“That designation was based on evidence collected, inconsistent statements made by Mark Redwine, and his behavior throughout the investigation,” Dan Bender with the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Bender said Dylan’s mother, Elaine Hall, her son Cory Redwine, and Elaine’s husband, Mike Hall have been cleared of any involvement.

DURANGO, Colo. — Almost three years after 13-year-old Dylan Redwine disappeared, a person of interest has finally been identified. That person is Mark Redwine, Dylan’s father.

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on Wednesday, along with the announcement that Redwine’s cause of death had been changed from “unknown” to “homicide.”

Investigators said they had zeroed in on a person of interest in the case on July 1 of this year, but they did not identify that person until Wednesday.

Mark Redwine told Channel 2’s Mark Meredith he “had no idea” before the announcement from the La Plata County Sheriff on Wednesday that he had been identified as that person of interest.

Hall told Channel 2’s Kevin Torres she was “pleased” with the announcement from the La Plata County Sheriff Wednesday, and that Mark Redwine had not been communicating with investigators for some time.

“I had no doubt who killed Dylan from the very beginning,” Hall said. “I think naming a person of interest is a huge step in the right direction. It means they have evidence.”

In July, the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office said the person of interest was identified after investigators went back and searched a remote area near where some of Dylan’s remains were found. The sheriff’s office said several “items of interest” were found and investigators have more searches to conduct.

Dylan Redwine's death ruled a homicide; father ID'd as person of interest

The death of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine of Monument has been ruled a homicide, and his father is a person of interest in the case, the La Plata County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.

The Sheriff's Office said Mark Redwine, Dylan's father, is the person of interest based on collected evidence, inconsistent statements and his "behavior throughout the investigation," according to a news release from the agency. Redwine's lawyer, Christian Hatfield, doubts the Sheriff's Office has enough evidence to prove Dylan was murdered, he said on Wednesday.

"I don't think they can (prove it)," Hatfield said. "And if they had any evidence we would have a suspect, and not a person of interest."

Amber Harrison, Elaine Redwine's attorney, said she had not spoken to Dylan's mother since it was announced that his death was a homicide, but said Wednesday's announcements were a step toward justice.

"We always hoped, we always had faith, that justice would be served for Dylan," Harrison said.

The determination that Dylan was killed "seems to be incredibly speculative at this point," since his entire remains have not been recovered, Hatfield said. The Sheriff's Office has not provided Hatfield with evidence of Dylan's homicide because Redwine has not been declared a suspect. Hatfield added that basing the "person of interest" of determination on Redwine's behavior was not taking the past few years into context.

"He has lost his son, but he has also been facing death threats and vandalism and accusations by Elaine," Hatfield said. "It would be extremely surprising if he weren't stressed out."

DURANGO, Colo. - Another search is planned in the area where Dylan Redwine's remains were found, deputies with the La Plata County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

The announcement was buried in the department's announcement naming Mark Redwine, Dylan's father, as a person of interest in the boy's death.

The next search of the Middle Mountain area is planned for early-to-mid-September, the Sheriff's Office said.

La Plata County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Bender told 7NEWS earlier this summer that evidence was found during two searches near to where Dylan's remains were discovered two years ago. Then, in early July, investigators announced they had identified a "person of interest" in the death of Dylan Redwine -- but they did not name that person until Wednesday.

MONUMENT, Colo. — Dylan Redwine’s mother said her ex-husband, Mark Redwine, has been guilty since day one.

On Wednesday investigators labeled him a ‘person of interest’ in the murder of his son, Dylan.

In an interview with FOX31 Denver’s Kevin Torres, Elaine Hall said Mark grew distant with investigators and hasn’t been cooperative.

“I know Mark. I know Dylan. I know the dynamics. I’ll never change my opinion on that,” Elaine Hall said. “If he was innocent he would be standing up screaming saying ‘who killed my son?!’ He hasn’t done any of that.”

DENVER - Mark Redwine, who was named Wednesday as a person of interest in his son's 2012 death, is now blaming his ex-wife for a "pattern" of actions that he alleges led to the boy's murder.

...In Mark Redwine's new lawsuit, entered in La Plata County District Court, he alleges that his ex-wife has made inaccurate representations about domestic violence and campaigned to get law enforcement to consider him a suspect in Dylan's death.

...In his lawsuit, Mark Redwine alleges that Elaine Redwine engaged in “vitriolic and abusive litigation” against him since their divorce in 2005.

Mark Redwine claims his ex-wife exposed Dylan to “accusations, disparagement and loathing commentary."

Mark Redwine, who was on Wednesday named a person of interest in his son's death, filed new court documents in La Plata Co. court Aug. 14 claiming his ex-wife, Elaine Hall, is at fault for the boy's death.

When KOB stopped by Mark's home near Vallecito Lake Thursday, we found weeds had taken over the yard and his mail piled up at the door.

There was also a note on his front door, though it was unclear if Mark left the note, that read, "There is a touch of gray for every shade of blue."

Investigators plan to revisit the area around Mark's home in September in the hopes they might find more clues to help solve the case.

DURANGO, Colo. - Just as deputies were crafting their announcement that Mark Redwine was a person of interest in the death of his son Dylan, a judge was rejecting the elder Redwine's attempt to dismiss his ex-wife's lawsuit.

Elaine Redwine, Dylan's mother, filed the wrongful death lawsuit against her ex-husband on June 29. At the time, she said she has never been shy about who she thinks murdered her son.

"It’s just one more avenue," she said during July. "Mark’s not talking with anyone. He’s not being cooperative with police, and so I just felt that it was time to start making him accountable."

Amber Harrison, Elaine's attorney, confirmed for 7NEWS that Mark Redwine's motion to dismiss the lawsuit was denied Wednesday by the judge overseeing the case.

Dylan’s death has since been ruled a homicide. Last summer, Dylan’s dad was named a person of interest in the case. I spoke with Mark Redwine on the phone. He denied any wrongdoing and said Dylan was his best friend.

Still, no formal suspect has been named, and Elaine Hall is pleading with police and prosecutors to keep moving forward. If anyone out there can bring forth new information, Elaine hopes it could be the break they need.

Dylan would not be his dad's "best friend" when Dylan was at an age he could not participate in his dad's activities or events. I seriously doubt if Dad shared secrets (as friends do) with Dylan....or Dylan shared his secrets with his father!

IMO, the father had anger issues with the mother. Could be for any of a variety of reasons. The father decided to control or strike back at the mother. He hit out at what he thot would hurt her the most: her child, Dylan....
