BAYFIELD – Candles shone in the darkness as more than 150 people turned out for a vigil for missing 13-year-old Dylan Redwine on Tuesday evening at Eagle Park in Bayfield.

“The family is grateful beyond words for the countless hours people have donated, posting fliers across the country, the hundreds who turned out in droves to comb hillsides,” said Denise Hess, who has been organizing volunteers. “People all over the world are holding vigil with us now.”

The ceremony marked the first public appearance by Dylan’s father, Mark Redwine, who was the last to see his son at about 7:30 a.m. Nov. 19. Like many who spoke, he referred to Dylan in both the present tense and the past tense, reflecting the uncertainty everyone feels about Dylan’s fate.

Investigators have determined that Dylan Redwine, a 13-year-old who disappeared from his father's home in the Vallecito area 10 days ago, didn't run away, according to the La Plata County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities are asking for anyone who filmed vehicles traveling on main routes between Durango and Vallecito Lake between 6 p.m. Nov. 18 and 12 p.m. Nov. 19 to provide copies of the video to a task force investigating the disappearance. Arrangements to turn over a copy can be made by calling (970)385-2900.

A tip line has been set up for the search at (970)382-7511.

DURANGO, Colo.—Authorities looking for a 13-year-old boy missing for more than a week in southwestern Colorado don't believe he ran away.

La Plata County sheriff's spokesman Dan Bender said Wednesday that investigators are no longer looking at the possibility that Dylan Redwine ran away while visiting his father for Thanksgiving break. In a statement, Bender also said that investigators still view their operation as a search, not a recovery mission, but he didn't elaborate on why.

The boy's mother, Elaine Redwine, told ABC News she thinks her ex-husband, Mark Redwine, may be involved in her son's disappearance.

Investigators seek footage shot in Vallecito

The Task Force is still requesting that the public not conduct their own door-to-door searches north of the Vallecito Dam, as it may interfere with the search that the investigators are doing. Residents who are approached by investigators that are not accompanied by a uniformed officer are encouraged to ask for proper law enforcement identification.

A few days ago, there was a part of a fishing pole found on the Vallecito dam and investigators have determined that it has no connection with Dylan. The owner of that broken fishing pole has been contacted and the fishing pole has been ruled out as a potential clue.

The Task Force is asking the general public if they have any recreational video footage that includes vehicles traveling on main routes between Durango and Vallecito Lake, taken between 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18 through noon on Monday November 19, to call dispatch at (970) 385-2900 to make an arrangements to get a copy of the footage to the Task Force.

Update: Dylan Redwine, who vanished on November 19 during a court-ordered visit to his father's home in the Vallecito Lake area, continues to be the subject of a massive search. And while clues about his whereabouts remain elusive (see earlier coverage below), new developments have surfaced in the case. Law enforcers have concluded he didn't run away -- and his father has stepped forward for the first time since his ex-wife pointed a finger at him.

While representatives of the La Plata County Sheriff's Office aren't saying why they believe Dylan, thirteen, is not a runaway, investigators are no longer treating this theory as probable. Instead, they're focusing on canvassing the Vallecito area with the aid of an updated flier that sports a new tip line number. Here it is:

VALLECITO, La Plata County - The search for a missing boy from Southern Colorado has now entered its 11th day. On Thursday, Dylan Redwine's father Mark Redwine told 9NEWS he was working with investigators to help locate his son.

Dylan disappeared from his father's home in Vallecito last Monday. Vallecito is 20 minutes east of Durango. Dylan was visiting his father for Thanksgiving break.

Mark Redwine was the last person to see his son.

"Our goal is to bring Dylan home," Mark Redwine told 9NEWS.

Home of Missing Colo. Boy's Father Searched

While the search continues for 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, who went missing from his father's home 10 days ago in Vallecito, Colo., investigators no longer believe that he ran away.

Instead, the La Plata County Sheriff's office issued a warrant to search the home of Dylan's father, Mark Redwine, Thursday morning.

La Plata County Sheriff spokesman Dan Bender told ABCNews.com that when Dylan was first reported missing, authorities checked Dylan's father's home to see if the boy was there. Dylan was visiting his father for the Thanksgiving holiday (his parents are divorced).

"We were checking the basement and other rooms, we were seeing if there had been something left on the bed, like his cellphone," Bender said. "We weren't doing a very meticulous search."

Investigators concluded their search of the home of Mark Redwine, father of 13-year-old Dylan Redwine, Thursday night after serving a search warrant in the morning.

Mark Redwine also agreed to give an official interview to the task force for the case – comprised of agents from the La Plata County Sheriff's Office, Durango Police Department, Bayfield Marshal's Office, FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation – after investigators asked if he would be willing to do an in-depth interview, said Lt. Ray Shupe, spokesman for the task force.

Redwine has given several cursory interviews in the past, but this was the first in-depth interview he has given, Shupe said. No attorney was present for the interview, and Shupe said Redwine has not retained an attorney.

Lt. Ray Shupe with the task force said, "This is an ongoing investigation and we are not releasing any information about the official interview of Mr. Redwine or what was, or was not taken from Mr. Redwine's residence."

Authorities have ruled out the possibility that Dylan is a runaway due to the length of time he's been missing, lack of cell phone activity, and the fact that he hasn't contacted any family or friends.

They also believe there's no chance Dylan wandered off and became lost in the wild.

"Task force members are looking at this investigation as a criminal investigation," said Lt. Shupe. "We are still looking at all other possibilities."

Another article states his friends thought Dylan's dad was dropping him off early that morning and then came by later looking for Dylan. Another article states his friends thought he could have been hitch hiking. Where are all his clothes and possessions? If he ran away I could see him taking everything. But if he was just going to spend time with his friends there would be no need to take everything. What about the dad insisting the fishing pole is missing?

Things are not looking good for this young man. I don't want to jump on the "dad did it" bandwagon just yet, but I am very interested in knowing what they found in the search and why they took both trucks. Perhaps just eliminating possibilities so they can move on? Searching the family home and vehicles is standard practice. And I could see the dad staying out of sight with the mom accusing him in public. It's hard to know what to believe right now. I hope they find him hiding out with a friend somewhere, but experience has me tainted, too.

Probe into missing Dylan Redwine now a criminal investigation

DURANGO, Colo. - The search for a missing 13-year-old boy near Durango is part of a criminal investigation, as a task force finished searching the home of the boy's father.

Dylan Redwine has been missing for 12 days.

La Plata County Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Ray Shupe said the father, Mark Redwin, is cooperating with the investigation into his son's disappearance and volunteered to give an interview to authorities Thursday afternoon ...

It was not revealed whether the father consented to a polygraph examination.

Thursday. “However, since the last place Dylan was seen was his father’s house, it’s only prudent for us to search the house.”

There have been no clues or confirmed sightings of Dylan since Sunday night, Bender said, and such a lack of leads is unusual.

“That’s what’s made it such a frustrating case,” Bender said. “We had to check every single possibility.”

On Wednesday, the task force officially ruled out that he was a runaway because of the amount of time he has been gone — 11 days as of yesterday, and because he has not been in contact with any of his friends or his parents. Like most 13-year-olds, “he was a prolific texter,” Bender said.

“We do know he reached La Plata County,” Bender said. Beyond that, there isn’t much.

nanaof4, the police doesn't have any clues of what might have happened to Dylan, all they have is his father's account of the events of the morning when he allegedly vanished. I don't know what to believe at this point but with all the time that has elapsed since Dylan when missing, the police has no choice but to think that something nefarious has happened to him.

The police inquiry into his disappearance has now become a criminal investigation. It is important to note that immediately after the task force determined that Dylan did not run away, the first thing that they did was to get a warrant to search his father's property. I'm also curious to know what items, other than the trucks, were removed by the investigators.

The evidence that they collected during the search is either going to clear him, or implicate him in Dylan's disappearance. In any event, I just hope they are able to find a resolution, the agony of his family waiting for answers must be excruciating, my heart goes out to them.

Organizer Denise Hess of Bayfield said she hoped to turn out 1,000 ribbons by sometime Saturday in support of the search for Dylan Redwine. Twelve-year-old Jessica George, left, daughter of James and Tricia George, and Carolyn Cook, 13, daughter of Jarrett and Anne Cook, help with the effort at Hess’ store, Plaza Video. The two said they are friends of Dylan.

People from around Southwest Colorado, the Front Range and even other countries continue their concern and volunteer efforts to find missing 13-year-old Dylan Redwine. The teen vanished from his father’s Vallecito home Nov. 19.

A prayer vigil is planned for 6 to 7 p.m. today at Dylan’s new school, Lewis-Palmer Middle School in Woodmoor, near Colorado Springs. The vigil will take place at the corner of Front and Second Streets in nearby Monument, about 21 miles north of Colorado Springs on Interstate 25.

Just like his friends near Colorado Springs, the communities in Southwest Colorado are keeping the faith.

VALLECITO — Dylan Redwine's half-smile is everywhere in the Pine River Valley.

Missing fliers with the 13-year-old's picture are affixed to road signs, pinned to bulletin boards, stuck in car windows, flashing on digital sign boards and displayed on businesses' entrance doors — sometimes two or three at a time, just in case someone might miss one.

One flier is taped to the front door of the small, sage-green house where Dylan was last seen and where his father, Mark Redwine, now hunches over on a couch, his eyes reddening as he considers dire possibilities nearly two weeks after Dylan went missing.

"Reality starting to set in"

And he is trying to deal with the added weight of knowing that some people think he had something to do with his son's disappearance because he was the last one to see him. He has contacted a criminal-defense attorney to help him with that. And he said he is helping in the search in any way he can.

"I just want my son back," he said. "I know it's crossing all our minds — reality is starting to set in that that may not be a possibility."

Colorado youth missing two weeks

VALLECITO, Colo., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- A Colorado man whose son has been missing for two weeks says he has hired an attorney, and that he suspects his son was hitchhiking when he disappeared.

Mark Redwine told The Denver Post he hired a criminal lawyer to watch his back while he presses the search for his 13-year-old son, Dylan Redwine, who disappeared from the Pine River Valley two weeks ago.

Redwine says he believes Dylan may have disappeared while hitchhiking in the rural area where the crime rate is generally low. He said he doubted Dylan ran away and was generally a happy kid despite his parents' seven-year divorce battle.

MONUMENT, Colo. — Nearly two weeks after Dylan Redwine vanished without a trace, friends and family are hoping a prayer vigil will help keep the search for the missing teen alive.

Redwine, who vanished near the Vallecito reservoir in Southwest Colorado on November 19th, has become the center of attention for a state and federal task force trying to figure out if the teen was abducted or a runaway.

Dylan Redwine's parents are suffering through one of the worst possible tragedies to hit a parent – a missing child. Even with the community support Mark and Elaine Redwine have received, nothing truly takes away from their pain.

“We've got to put our faith in God,” Mark Redwine said Sunday morning. “I'm trying to stay strong and not lose my faith.”

“Everybody's pitched in,” Elaine Redwine said, noting how the community, including many strangers, have helped in the search for Dylan and in helping the family survive the ordeal.

“Dylan has become our child,” she said about the community.

Mark Redwine said in a telephone interview that “it's been very difficult” dealing with Dylan's disappearance sometime the morning of Nov. 19. “I'm not eating or sleeping,” he said.

Mark Redwine said he had some frustrations about the whole event, the first being what happened to Dylan.

“We're all searching for that answer,” he said.

“I think we're all frustrated,” including the community, he added.

Another source of frustration is with the Dylan Redwine Taskforce of law-enforcement agencies, he said. He said in the last day or two he has been trying to contact the task force for updates but has received no response.

Elaine Redwine, in a separate phone interview, said that the task force “is working hard.” Because this is an ongoing investigation, not all information is being made public.

But Elaine Redwine did say that there has been no activity on Dylan's phone since he vanished, and he definitely did not run away.

Similarly, while some of Dylan's Bayfield friends suggested he might hitchhike down from Vallecito to Bayfield for a scheduled visit with them, Elaine Redwine said she and Dylan had talked about being safe, including not hitchhiking.

“It would be uncharacteristic of Dylan to do that,” she said.

Nearly two weeks after his disappearance, the search continues for Dylan Redwine, the 13-year-old boy who vanished from his father's home in La Plata county in southwestern Colorado.

"This is not an easy situation," Dylan's cousin Nicole Yost said in a tearful interview at the teen's vigil Sunday night. Monday marks two weeks since the middle schooler vanished without a trace. "It's hard because there's just not information," Yost said. Eva Paredes, Dylan's aunt, told News 5, "There's just not a whole lot we can do. I hope the investigators find somebody or something."

The search continues for any sign of the boy, but without so much as a clue his hometown is shaken, lost as he is. Jeanelle Kemp, a schoolmate, told News 5 Dylan's disappearance has been difficult for his peers at Lewis Palmer Middle School. "We see a lot of people missing on the news but to have it be one of our friends, it's like...wow."

DENVER — Two weeks after vanishing without a trace, the search for Dylan Redwine has yet to produce any new leads despite his mother making a desperate plea for help in CNN interview.

His mother appeared on CNN’s “Nancy Grace” Monday night and claimed that she believed a polygraph test taken by her ex-husband, Dylan’s father, came back inclusive.

Investigators will not confirm if either parent has taken a polygraph test, but told FOX31 Denver both parents have been cooperative. Investigators have said numerous times Mark Redwine is not a suspect.

Mark Redwine said he was “surprised” when asked about the CNN interview.

Two weeks after 13-year-old Dylan Redwine went missing in Vallecito, law-enforcement officials said they have few clues as to his disappearance or possible whereabouts.

The search has moved from the wilderness surrounding Vallecito to indoors where investigators can evaluate evidence and follow up on tips and possible sightings, said Lt. Ray Shupe, spokesman for a task force made up of multiple agencies assigned to the case.

Mark Redwine says he remains puzzled why his son Dylan would try to walk to a friend’s house because the terrain is rugged where he lives and the house is a few miles away.

The Colorado Springs 13-year-old disappeared 
Nov. 19 from his father’s house in Vallecito, northeast of Durango, where he had been on a court-ordered visit.

“He was sleeping on the couch, and I told him I had to go about my errands,” Mark Redwine said in a Sunday telephone interview. “He said, ‘OK, I understand.’ The focus for him was to go to his friend’s, but I live far back in the canyon. There’s a substantial distance between my house and the lake, so it doesn’t make sense that he would walk out, but he’s a 13-year-old boy, and who knows what they think sometimes?”

I am troubled by the silence from 8 pm-ish Sunday night and when the dad said he left at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning for errands stating that Dylan said he was too tired to get up. According to the mom, Dylan was an avid texter and cell phone user; on top of that, she said the plans were that he was going to see his friends that lived 30-45 minutes away (would need a ride). She said his usual behavior was to always be up on time and be ready for school, etc., so she couldn't understand why he wouldn't go with his father on Monday a.m. since he knew (1) he needed a ride and (2) he was going to see friends/excited.

The non-existent texting/cell phone use from the night before seems to be a red flag.

Tips pour in to investigators in search of missing boy near Durango

Tips, both locally and beyond, from the public about a teen who went missing in southwestern Colorado continue to pour in to investigators, police said Tuesday.

The Dylan Redwine Task Force, made up of investigators from several police agencies, local, state and federal, are working with a "tip folder" that's about 2-inches thick, according to a media release from the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.

"As this is an ongoing criminal investigation, the Task Force cannot comment on details about the search of Mark Redwine's home, details about video and photographs from community members that are being analyzed, or any other details on the investigation," said Dan Bender, a sheriff's office spokesman.

New pictures of missing Colorado teen Dylan Redwine released

DURANGO - The La Plata County Sheriff's office released two new pictures of Dylan Redwine, taken the day before he disappeared.

The surveillance pictures were taken Sunday Nov. 18 at the Durango-La Plata airport and at the Durango Walmart store.

The clothing seen in the pictures is believed to be what he was wearing when he disappeared while visiting his father.

I do not want to jump to any conclusions... however, I am very concerned about the fact that it is stated he didn't text the night before he was reported missing... and the fact there were cadaver dog hits by the dam (nothing found there) but never the less hits by the dogs.

Hoping for the best... fearing the worst!
