As soon as the news of the tragedy broke last week, celebrities took to Twitter to voice their opinions and stars such as Jamie Foxx and Bruce Jenner spoke out against the violence in interviews.

I find it ironic Jamie Foxx is starring in one of the most violent movies ever produced critics have claimed in recently released,"django unchained," a Quentin Tarintino movie. The movie was postponed much to Tarintono's dismay the weekend of the Sandy murders, of course Tarintino also wrote and produced "Pulp Fiction," another violent movie based on 2 hired killers. While Sharpton and Jesse Jackson continue to rant about racism, the word NIGGE? was used in "django unchained" over 168 times in the movie.

Many in Hollywood make their millions from violence in movies and Beyonce who also took to twitter, might address some of the violent rap music glorifying guns and violence that made her husband Jay Z a millionaire.

Violence: violent movies, violent rap music glorifying guns, violent video games such as "kindgergarden killers" too play a factor in our society. There are many causes that provoke the unstable in our society, they can steal a gun, they too are criminals. As pyschologist have said, "there is no predicting who will murder, until it happens."

Obama's girls attend a private school as does Gregory's from Meet the Press, the school has 12 armed security guards and are hiring more. This of course doesn't include the secret service men that are assigned to Obama's children at all times, the 12 armed security guards protect ALL the children that attend the private school.

NEWTOWN CONN. SCHOOL SHOOTING - Page 7 121224052311-gergi-guns-story-top
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, center, and other area officials call for stronger gun regulations at a news conference last week

IMHO-

This is a man I cannot trust. Rahm Emanuel, previously served as the White House Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2010 before becoming the newest Chicago Mayor. Emanuel is also known to be in that special group of politicians that don't pay their own taxes. Rahm Emanuel, the man known for his famous quote:

"You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before."

Emanuel, now a city mayor in a state with the strictest gun laws. Also, a mayor in a city with one of the highest crime rates in the country. It appears to me the strict gun laws have had no impact in controlling the violence in Chicago. The strict gun laws in the state of Illinois are a good example of how gun control does not prevent gun violence. In my opinion, the strict gun laws renders innocent law abiding citizens helpless from the criminals that have obtained guns illegally.

Important/Relevant Gun Laws
ILLINOIS
———————————————
RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS
Permit to Purchase FOID Required*
Registration of Firearms No**
Licensing of Owners FOID Required*
Permit to Carry FOID Required*

HANDGUNS
Permit to Purchase FOID Required*

Licensing of Owners FOID Required*
Permit to Carry No***

* Subject to municipal control. Handguns have been banned in some municipalities.
** Chicago requires registration of all firearms.
*** Carrying a concealed weapon is prohibited entirely. A FOID is required to transport a handgun. See "CARRYING".

Opinion: The Deadliest Global City | Thursday, Aug 2, 2012

Chicago likes to compare itself to other world cities, so Ward Room thought it would find out how we rank in violence.

It turns out no one can top us.

Among what are considered Alpha world cities, Chicago has the highest murder rate -- higher even than the Third World metropolises of Mexico City and Sao Paolo.

Here’s how we rank in murders per 100,000 among cities we consider our peers, based on a projected murder total of 505 for this year.

Singapore 0.4
Tokyo 0.5
Hong Kong 0.6
Berlin 1.0
Sydney 1.0
London 1.4
Toronto 1.7
Amsterdam 1.8
Paris 4.4
New York 6.0
Los Angeles 7.5
Mexico City 8.0
Moscow 9.6
Sao Paulo 15.6
Chicago 19.4

We could be doing worse: Caracas, Venezuela has a murder rate of 130 per 100,000. But its undeniable that the Windy City is under seige.

Gun lovers are gleeful about Chicago’s deadly summer. They see it as a rebuke not just to gun control, but to the policies of Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel.

But Chicago’s murder rate is not proof that gun control doesn’t work. It’s proof that, in a country with one gun per citizen, local gun laws are meaningless.

DNA of Newtown Shooter Adam Lanza to Be Studied by Geneticists

Geneticists have been asked to study the DNA of Adam Lanza, the Connecticut man whose shooting rampage killed 27 people, including an entire first grade class.

The study, which experts believe may be the first of its kind, is expected to be looking for abnormalities or mutations in Lanza's DNA.

Connecticut Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver has reached out to University of Connecticut's geneticists to conduct the study.

Nouel Alba Arrested By FBI: Bronx Woman Accused Of Newtown Shooting Scam, Posing As Victim's Relative (VIDEO)

HARTFORD, Conn. — A New York City woman tried to scam donors by posing as the aunt of a child killed in the Connecticut elementary school massacre, federal authorities said Thursday.

Nouel Alba, 37, was arrested Thursday and accused of using her Facebook account, telephone calls and text messages to seek donations for what she called a "funeral fund." She told one donor that she had to enter the scene of the mass shooting in Newtown to identify her nephew, according to the criminal complaint.

Alba is charged with lying to FBI agents who were investigating charity scams related to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where a gunman killed 20 children and six adults on Dec. 14.

I don't want to infringe on our Freedom of Speech any more than our Freedom to Keep and Bear Arms. Both the entertainment and gun industries have lobbyist. In my opinion, the politicians grab whatever support they can gain to maintain their future in politics. It is well known most liberals support the entertainment lobbyist and most conservatives support the gun lobbyist. Whichever side has control of Congress at the time a bill is presented will when the battle. Sadly, the battle is not about the welfare of our country, but rather the ability of politicians to line their own pockets.

Warner Bros. CEO Barry Meyer is an Obama fundraiser. Warner Bros. has produced movies such as "Dark Knight Rises", "Natural Born Killers" and "Clockwork Orange". Obama is a beneficiary of the entertainment industry. Mrs. Obama attended a dinner at CEO Barry Meyer's home in August for a campaign fundraiser where people paid up to $25,000 a plate. $15 million was donated in 2012 by the entertainment industry to support the Obama campaign.

Lash - you make a good point, yes indeed, Obama profited greatly from liberal Hollywood and Actor's in 2008 amd 2012. I don't expect any changes in the violence produced nor the scaled back violence in video games or the violent lyrics in rap music and the demeaning names they call women, BITCH or BITCHES seems to be one of the more popular. You are right, the actor's have strong lobbyist as is their right and so does the gun lobby, both promoting each agenda they represent.

imo, the problem is bigger than guns although it is a major factor, other factors come into play, especially in the case of Adam Lanzer. all jmo.

I am still searching for news re:

--- The man found in the woods near the Newtown school wearing camouflage at the time of the shooting.. Supposedly, the Newtown PD, or other agency, checked him out and released him. Who was he? What was he doing this close to the school, a no guns zone? Strange, he has NOT spoken to media!

--- Early news reports stated the roommate of Ryan and a female associated with them was missing; then the news stated a female had been found dead in Ryan's NJ apartment. So who was this female? Where are the "wraps' of these stories media reported? Where are the, "Oops! Error made and correction!" Were these stories intentional plants for some reason ?

--- How is it possible in BOTH the Aurora shooting and Newtown shooting: ATF was armed and present with 20 minutes of the shooting? In both cases, two or more shooters were reported; both cases the shooters had "damaged" their home properties; in both cases, the identities of the shooter was announced on the media BEFORE it was confirmed who was shot, how many were shot, etc. One would expect LE's focus to be on the injured/killed, witness statements BUT LE apparently seemed to know almost in advance who the shooter was. How is that possible to know in advance? Know in advance and do NOTHING to prevent the shootings?

-- In both these cases, the shooters were regarded as extremely intelligent and scientifically gifted. In Aurora, the father was to testify before the US Senate the following Monday regarding accountability of the US finances. In Newtown, the father is high management in GE.

(Last night, I watched the movie Shooter, 2005 release. Never seen this before. It certainly raises questions for me regarding similar actions our government may be invested in.)

For Newtown Killer, a Dangerous DNA Wild-Goose Chase

A hunt is on for a genetic mutation that might explain Adam Lanza’s rampage. But just as our science doesn’t have answers, the results would raise even more difficult questions.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/12/28/for-newtown-killer-a-dangerous-dna-wild-goose-chase.html

imo, there are no excuses for the murder's Adam committed, but I can't see that studying Adam's brain, even if the information is not released, could hurt.

Jeffery Dahmer had horrific family of origin problems and murdered animals for years before he started murdering young men. Ted Bundy too had interesting aspects to his family of origin and had the ability to lure young women to their deaths or even breaking into a soriety house to savagely beat the innocent, of course a sociopath.

There are NO EXCUSES imo but any answers into the brains of the serial killer's may shed some light as to their distorted view of reality.

Excellent and informative article. Thank you for bringing this to the board.

I found this to be of interest. Some reports stated Nancy Lanza was also interested in moving to Seattle with her son, Adam. Wonder the connection for it seems odd:
" Sometime in 2013, Veronique says, she plans to move her family again, this time to the Seattle area where much of her extended family lives. They will be taking Noah’s body with them."

This is powerful. A strong, loving mother said this:
" Like some Sandy Hook parents who have spoken to the media, Veronique has shied away from portraying Lanza as evil or diabolical. “If we describe him as a demonic force or as a beast with the sign of the beast on his forehead, that is a mistake,” she says. “Because then we are making him apart from humanity when in fact he is part of what is possible in humanity. How do we help these people so this doesn’t happen again, so they never sink so low, so they never have to go to a place so dark where they can take out small children in a fit of rage?"

I guess I'm just not as forgiving as Noah's Mom. Senselessly, cold-bloodedly, massacring 20 little children and their teachers, in a school, is just plain evil to me.

Meanwhile, I think this is a little overboard, to say the least:

Julie- the thing is, most Civil Suits are taken on a Contingency. That means, the parent's don't pay a dime UNLESS there is a monetary award to them, then their attorney takes 30 to 40% and ALL of his expenses so the parent's really don't have anything to lose.

imo, this case is a frivolous suit. How could the school have protected their child that lived any better, the Principal & Psychologist gave their lives to try to save their child. MOST schools in America have absolutely NO PROTECTION in such a case as this and imo, are probably not going to be any safer in the foreseeable future, that, imo, is why this case is frivilous. I don't see that anything could have changed the situation at SH but a security guard with a gun to shoot Adam. MANY of the parent's at SH don't want guns on the campus. The few schools I have read about that do have armed security guards and pay off duty policeman are private schools NOT public schools and the free education this child receives. If I were that concerned for my child, I would simply homeschool the child and take responsibility for the child's safety, it is unfair to blame the entire district, but that's what parents do when they sue, they sue everyone hoping anyone will offer a settlement just to make them go away. imo.

I agree, what a slap in the face to the parent's that have buried their children, their lives forever changed, and the surviving siblings of those buried probably asking so many questions that grieving parent's can't answer. I guess if my child had survived the murderous attack, I'd still be on my knees thanking God my child survived and praying for the families that lost their children. Appalling imo.

OMG! pictures of this nutjob attorney, ambulance chasing caught in pictures. imo, he must be trying to get a class action suit ONLY IF he gets permission to sue.

I have no opinion on the lawsuit.
First, it is a financially upper class community so the dollar amount is meaningless, IMO.
At the same time, this child, as many other children, will require indepth counseling. For years. But so will the parents. Older sibs. Grandparents, etc.

Sadly, I expect to see many of these "close" neighbors move. Try to find a new home in another location where they might find security and sanity. To stay in the community and have to daily deal with a comment dredging up this horrible day may prove too difficult for many.

I don't have the answers. I don't know if I would stay or go.
I do know every member of my family would be deep into counseling ASAP!

I agree 100%. How could the school have protected their child that lived any better, the Principal & Psychologist gave their lives to try to save their child. Exactly! MOST schools in America have absolutely NO PROTECTION in such a case as this and imo, are probably not going to be any safer in the foreseeable future, that, imo, is why this case is frivilous. I don't see that anything could have changed the situation at SH but a security guard with a gun to shoot Adam. Unfortunately, he would have been the first victim, probably from a distance. MANY of the parent's at SH don't want guns on the campus. I'm not crazy about that either. It would be just a matter of time before somehow something goes wrong with that plan. But on the other hand, I would want my kids schools to have counter protection. The few schools I have read about that do have armed security guards and pay off duty policeman are private schools NOT public schools and the free education this child receives. If I were that concerned for my child, I would simply homeschool the child Sadly my homeschooling abilities would only take them so far. Plus kids need that social interaction with their peers.and take responsibility for the child's safety, it is unfair to blame the entire district,Agree. but that's what parents do when they sue, they sue everyone hoping anyone will offer a settlement just to make them go away. Yep.

Me too. Appalling imo.

OMG! pictures of this nutjob attorney, you said it! ambulance chasing caught in pictures. imo, he must be trying to get a class action suit ONLY IF he gets permission to sue.

I agree, they will need counseling for years to come.

Even being miles away from CT, I felt bad as I was wrapping my kids Christmas presents. I couldn't help thinking that there were now 20 sets of parents who probably had gifts to wrap, but now couldn't. As my mailman was delivering more things for me to wrap, I thought about the 20 sets of parents whose mailmen might be bringing stuff to their houses. How awful that would be!
As my kids, who are notorious for asking endless questions about anything/everything, were asking questions, (not about this), I took a deep breath and told myself there are now 20 sets of parents out there who would love for their kids to drive them nutty asking endless questions, and now they can't.
Sad, sad, sad. Sad

I don't think it was for the dollar amount.
From the very last of the article:
" He said he filed the notice in order to 'freeze' the evidence before insurance adjusters can 'shape' it.

'This way the state of Connecticut will get the notice and they will have the attorney general's office and their investigators see what happened and why the school was not protected,' he said."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2254564/First-lawsuit-filed-Sandy-Hook-massacre-family-traumatized-child-survivor-seeks-100-million.html

Appears to me he is doing this to make sure the truth DOES come out. Maybe we will finally hear about the man in camo found in the woods--- the one the LE (ATF? PD?) released and provided NO info on WHY a man in camo would be lurking in the woods about a school? IF this is the reason, Good For Him! Let us get to the very core of what happened!!!

If he had good intentions, he should have sued for $1. Then he wouldn't look like such a money grubbing idiot.

The man in the woods, if you google sandy hook man in woods, you get a bunch of links. I don't know how accurate the info is, but it was supposedly a dad of a 6 year old who says he was on his way to the school to make gingerbread houses, heard the shots, smelled the sulfur, and ran to see if he could get his daughter. There's video of him running into the woods, and an eyewitness video of a man who says as they were hauling the other guy away, he kept saying "I didn't do it."

The latest tabloid news is that killer was obsessed with Taylor Swift, and would watch her youtubes over and over, and imagine himself in a relationship with her.

Stupid excuse, not buying it. If it wasn't such a tragic outcome I would laugh at that one. (Julie, John...you know....)

You're welcome Freckles. Maybe he, the Dad, (and also the janitor-we haven't heard from him either) are part of the ongoing investigation, which according to these links have been sealed for now, for at least 90 days.

This link addresses some of those same questions, but also touches on the original 911 call, which mentions that a teacher saw two shadowy figures running past the gym, and then mentions a third guy.

Also:

jmo, the different internet info on all this is made up of part of the ongoing investigation, some could be panic at the moment confusion, some could be upcoming conspiracy theories, some could be people's personal/political agendas.

The janitor certainly played a major part in protecting the school that day. Had he not dashed through the halls warning teachers of the imminent danger, who knows how many more lives would have been lost that day. So many people who WERE on their toes calling 911, ushering children into their rooms, into closets, sending them out windows, sheltering with their own bodies and warning others.

Heroes, IMO. Willing to go the distance for others.

Julie,
WOW! This link with the 31 questions and I don't feel too crazy anymore with my asking.I find the similarities to this and Aurora--- in particular, how quickly ATF was on the scene and giving "pronouncements" long before it was needed or had been investigated. That bothers me as it puts out too much false info.

I look at some other crimes, deaths and missing children, and only wish the LE were so quick to correctly analyze a situation and then come to such prompt conclusions.

Can someone please tell me what the worker is doing?
He appears to be really inspecting the rocks!
At the site of a mass shooting, who inspects rocks?
At one point, he actually faces the camera, adjusts his hat and faces away. Pant leg is damp.

Vid has some of the earlier news' reports.

Father claims Connecticut shooter Adam Lanza's body

By CNN Staff
December 31, 2012 -- Updated 1538 GMT (2338 HKT)

(CNN) -- The father of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter Adam Lanza claimed his body last week, a family spokesman said.

Peter Lanza claimed the body Thursday, spokesman Errol Cockfield said. He declined to specify where the body would be buried.

On December 14, Adam Lanza, 20, took guns belonging to his mother, Nancy, and shot her as she slept in her bed. Then he went to the school in Newtown, Connecticut, where he gunned down 20 children and six staff members before killing himself.

~Snipped~

Authorities have offered few details about Adam Lanza. He had no known criminal record, authorities have said.

Alessandra = thanks for the information as to Adam's remains being claimed by his dad.

Though I can't even imagine how Peter Lanza feels, imo, it was the right thing to do for him to bury his son.

For all of us that advocate and seek justice for children, there will be no justice in this case for any of the families due to Adam's suicide. Justice would be for all the families to have their loved one's but sadly that doesn't happen, my experience has been that grieving is a long and painful journey and ultimately we don't get the answers we need to understand how this could have happened.

I read an interesting comment by a retired male teacher that had a suggestion that I thought was reasonable and easily accomplished while the arguments drag on forever about better ways to secure schools from the mentally ill, evil, or even a deranged parent.

The teacher suggested that ALL public schools in the US have steel proof doors to every classroom in which a bullet couldn't penetrate, besides the teacher being able to lock their door in a case of emergency, ALL of the classrooms could be locked from the office automatically. As Adam enterered the front of the school killing the Principal and the Psychologist, someone in the office could have hit the Security bolts automatically had ALL the classrooms had this installed.

I have worked in many schools in which "LOCKDOWN" is said over the intercom. The teacher has to run to the door and lock it, some intercoms are old and you can hardly hear the voice over the intercom, imo, this is one thing that could be done immediately to protect the children inside hopefully until LE arrives.

Stating it is Adam Lanza. IMO, it is either a much heavier and more confident AL than we have seen before OR it is Ryan Lanza--- perhaps someone has set up a false account on fb? Dunno. The tat on the wrist is interesting, however. I wonder if that actually is his wrist or superimposed.

BTW, back on p1 or 2 of this thread, I did post a portion of Ryan's fb. It has long been removed.

I like this idea! It would also work well in case of a fire.
Admittedly, there may be a person left in a hall but it is a lot better than what is currently used.

Freckles - The thing is, parent's all over the US want something done yesterday to protect their children, it is a small soltuion but I bet most school districts could easily raise monies to have their schools with at least a fail proof door.

I read your link upthread on "possible solutions" in school security and it pointed many pros and cons, a good article I thought. Too, I knew this but didn't think of it, schools are open alot, mostly high schools for after school varisity games, cheerleading practice, practice for all sports, various club meeting such as Art Club, Student Council, tutoring, etc are usually held in different classrooms. The games are usually held in a big open space, a gym.

There are no easy solutions.

It would be less expensive than hiring a teacher/security guards, etc.. Don't have to pay pension, maternity leave, etc.. It would not be as if an employee was being replaced.

Yes, there are downfalls and it is not absolute in protecting the children.
It is, however, a start. Might be a part of the solution without being the entire solution.

I wonder how many families will elect to home school or charter school children now. For me, if my children were in that environment, I would be in contact with my child's school and asking questions.

Backlash prompts Newtown survivor's attorney to pull lawsuit, for now

By CNN Staff

updated 5:46 PM EST, Tue January 1, 2013

(CNN) -- Outcry over a request for permission to sue the state of Connecticut for millions of dollars in the aftermath of the Newtown shooting prompted a New Haven attorney to at least temporarily withdraw his client's petition, the attorney said Tuesday.

"I was getting hundreds of (Facebook) comments" about the potential lawsuit. "So I figured I'd take (the request) off the table for now," said Irving Pinsky, who represents the parents of a 6-year-old survivor of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school.

I find it interesting the legal process in Connecticut re the need for approval. PRIOR to a lawsuit being assigned to a court the filing must be accepted by the courts. Interesting. Probably weeds out a lot of costly frivolous suits.

IF his purpose was as he stated, to draw attention and preserve evidence, perhaps the media attention he drew will work to that advantage. Have to see. Time will tell.

Armed officers guard schools in small NJ town

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, N.J. (KGO) -- Students who went back to school Wednesday in one New Jersey school district had somebody new welcoming them -- guards with guns.

The mayor of Marlboro Township put armed police officers in every school. He says his decision is a direct response to the Sandy Hook school massacre, "Right now based on advice of my police department, it is safer to have our trained police officers in the schools than not," Mayor Jonathan Hornik said.

But not everyone is pleased. One resident said, "That's not the message we want to give out kids. You know, that the only way they're safe if people with guns and arms follow them around."

The armed officers will be patrolling the schools while the New Jersey School District figures out a permanent security plan.

Mayor Hornik says he came up with the idea before the National Rifle Association suggested it.

The news last night reported that the students from Sandy Hook were going to be in school today. They had moved the desks from the old school to the new school, there would be police cars on the roads leading in but not near the school, and there was to be a media agreement not to be outside the school.

http://news.nationalpost.com/2013/01/02/sandy-hook-students-return-to-school/

they were asking that no more than 1 parent accompany their child to the school today... and are providing shuttle buses for parents from the church nearby as parking in the new school yard is limited.

Hypocrisy at its best -

Newspaper That Printed Gun Owner Names Hires Armed Guards

1/2/13, 6:29 PM EST

The New York newspaper that printed a map with all of the names of residents who have handgun permits has hired armed security to patrol its headquarters.

The Journal News, which covers Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam Counties in New York, faced a backlash from readers after publishing the names of residents who had handgun permits registered to their names. The newspaper created an interactive map which showed permit owners' names and addresses, which they posted on Dec. 23, 2011, as part of their coverage of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting.

The article that started the debate -

The gun owner next door: What you don't know about the weapons in your neighborhood

4:13 PM, Dec 23, 2012 | Dwight R. Worley

In May, Richard V. Wilson approached a female neighbor on the street and shot her in the back of the head, a crime that stunned their quiet Katonah neighborhood.

What was equally shocking for some was the revelation that the mentally disturbed 77-year-old man had amassed a cache of weapons — including two unregistered handguns and a large amount of ammunition — without any neighbors knowing.

“I think that the access to guns in this country is ridiculous, that anybody can get one,” said a neighbor of Wilson’s who requested anonymity because it’s not known whether the gunman, whose unnamed victim survived, will return home or be sent to prison. “Would I have bought this house knowing somebody (close by) had an arsenal of weapons? No, I would not have.”

In the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., and amid renewed nationwide calls for stronger gun control, some Lower Hudson Valley residents would like lawmakers to expand the amount of information the public can find out about gun owners. About 44,000 people in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam — one out of every 23 adults — are licensed to own a handgun.

Here we go violence and threats against the NRA, GOP leaders and gun owners. Opinion published in the DesMoines Register.

Kaul: Nation needs a new agenda on guns
This time, the debate has to be about more than not offending the NRA's sensibilities.

2:59 PM, Dec 29, 2012

Snip -

The thing missing from the debate so far is anger — anger that we live in a society where something like the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre can happen and our main concern is not offending the NRA’s sensibilities.

That’s obscene. Here, then, is my “madder-than-hell-and-I’m-not-going-to-take-it-anymore” program for ending gun violence in America:

• Repeal the Second Amendment, the part about guns anyway. It’s badly written, confusing and more trouble than it’s worth. It offers an absolute right to gun ownership, but it puts it in the context of the need for a “well-regulated militia.” We don’t make our militia bring their own guns to battles. And surely the Founders couldn’t have envisioned weapons like those used in the Newtown shooting when they guaranteed gun rights. Owning a gun should be a privilege, not a right.

• Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal. Hey! We did it to the Communist Party, and the NRA has led to the deaths of more of us than American Commies ever did. (I would also raze the organization’s headquarters, clear the rubble and salt the earth, but that’s optional.) Make ownership of unlicensed assault rifles a felony. If some people refused to give up their guns, that “prying the guns from their cold, dead hands” thing works for me.

• Then I would tie Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, our esteemed Republican leaders, to the back of a Chevy pickup truck and drag them around a parking lot until they saw the light on gun control.

And if that didn’t work, I’d adopt radical measures. None of that is going to happen, of course. But I’ll bet gun sales will rise.

I had heard about the opinion in the DM Register.
Pity is Donald Kaul, now a nationwide columnist, was a "homegrown" resident of DM back in the 1960s, IIRC. He had a column title, Over the Coffee.

The DM Register was irresponsible to post this opinion. What is wrong with the media? Strike that, Kaul's opinion was salacious and would draw readers just like me. The DM Register cared more about the attention they would receive rather than whether it was morally appropriate.

The opinion suggests more violence is the answer to violence. The NRA, GOP leaders and law abiding gun owners did not commit this massacre. The laws they support did not commit this massacre. One person is responsible. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. If a person wants to kill another human or commit a mass murder they can do it without a gun. The problem is not what weapon is used, the problem is the PERSON committing the murder.

This is another media outlet reporting irresponsibly. Did they consider the victims of stalking or domestic violence that have obtained a firearm to protect themselves or haven't obtained a firearm? No, they cared only about the attention they would receive and not how they could endanger the public.
