4:19 p.m. Prosecutor and Stoddard continue to read chats between Harris and other women in which Harris talks about his unhappiness with his marriage. In multiple conversations, Harris says he wishes he was single.

4:11 p.m. Harris tells woman in chat that he won't get divorced because of his kid. "It's the glue holding it together."

4:05 p.m. Stoddard reads conversation of Harris sexting with a high schooler. They talk about meeting up and Harris tells her he will pay. She tells him she's 17 and he says it's ok, "you're legal."

4:00 p.m. Detective reads a conversation Harris had on Whisper in January 2014. The girl he's chatting with claims to be 14 years old. Detective says Harris continues to sext with her despite that.

The other conversations revolve around Cooper, his car seat and dropping him at day care among other things.

2:33 p.m. Prosecutors play video made by a veterinarian about dogs in hot cars. During his interview, Harris told detectives he had recently the watched the video titled, "How hot does it get inside a parked car?"

2:30 p.m. Stoddard says during his interview, Harris told them he had recently seen a video about hot cars that was made by veterinarian. Through internet records, they found that Harris had come across the video on the site Reddit.

2:28 p.m. Stoddard says the family went on a vacation over Memorial Day. Chat records show that Leanna wanted Cooper to go on the vacation but Harris did not. He says Cooper did end up going on the vacation.

2:24 p.m. Prosecutors and Stoddard go through emails between Harris and a travel agent about a cruise he was planning for his family.

2:08 p.m. Prosecutor questions Stoddard about Harris' visit to the child free section of Reddit. He says a friend sent Harris the website, to which Harris responded by saying, "Grossness."

2:05 p.m. Stoddard says two weeks before Cooper's death, Harris commented on a Reddit article about a fight involving bikers, saying, "The only reason I hold true to the bikers actions is because the number of witnesses that stuck around to corroborate their story to police." Prosecution says it speaks to Harris' knowledge of the importance of witnesses.

1:57 p.m. Stoddard reads information from the article "Prison life: 5 things men should know." He says Harris clicked on this article after his search about what prison is really like.

1:47 p.m. Stoddard said a detective found a Google search on Harris' Macbook for "What prison is really like." He says through that search, Harris clicked on an AskMen article about prison life and what it takes to survive.

1:36 p.m. Stoddard said the day after Cooper's death, he reached out to Leanna Harris and her family but was told they would not talk to him and he could reach out to their attorney.

1:32 p.m. Stoddard says Harris made a nearly six minute phone call to Toddler Room 5 at Little Apron Academy just minutes after pulling Cooper from his car. The teacher inside the room says she did not answer the phone. To this day, detectives have been unable to find out who Harris spoke to on that call.

1:28 p.m. Phone records show Harris tried to call his wife at 4:24 p.m. that day, but hung up. She called him back at 4:25 p.m. and it went to voicemail. Harris called the Home Depot direct number twice. One conversation lasted more than five minutes.

In one Whisper mobile app conversation after another, state prosecutors showed Justin Ross Harris regularly complained about his marriage and his son and actively pursued sex with anonymous women and girls, some possibly as young as 14.

Harris, 35, admitted during police questioning that on June 18, 2014, he somehow forgot his son who was in the back seat of his Hyundai Tucson after they ate breakfast at the Chick-fil-A near his office.

He is accused of intentionally leaving his 22-month-old son Cooper to die in the vehicle, among other charges, including sex crimes related to his texting and online messaging activity.

Evidence presented by Cobb County Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring, and confirmed by Cobb County Police Department Det. Phil Stoddard, displayed at length a common refrain from Harris between January and May of 2014.

In one conversation on Whisper with an account under the name “Keke,” Harris said he was sexually aroused while in church, and just because he was at church, didn’t mean he didn’t “want it.”

Further, he had an extensive conversation with what was allegedly a 14-year-old girl, leading Harris to write, “LOL I don’t want to go to jail LOL.”

In a Whisper chat with an account that went by “Chrissy,” Harris discussed marriage and wrote, “I cheat a lot,” and “I know it’s not good, but I’m addicted to sex.”

4:26 p.m. Kilgore argues that as soon as Stoddard determined that some of his testimony wasn't correct, he should have made a report and corrected it. Stoddard said it wasn't incorrect -- they just learned new information since his initial testimony.

4:00 p.m. Kilgore continues to dissect Stoddard's testimony from previous hearings. Kilgore insinuates that Stoddard exaggerated his statements in prior testimony and caused an uproar in the public and the media.

3:54 p.m. Defense argues that Harris was not the only one who forgot to tell detectives that he went to Home Depot during his lunch break. Kilgore says one of Harris' friends forgot too and had to be reminded about it during the interview. Stoddard said that friend didn't have the same triggers that Harris did.

3:12 p.m. Defense argues that the car seat should not be allowed to be placed in Harris' SUV. They say if jurors see it with the car seat inside it, they will likely substitute their view for what Harris saw that day, which Kilgore argues is not accurate or fair. Judge rules car seat will be allowed. She also ruled that Stoddard will be allowed to be there during the viewing but is not allowed to say anything.

BRUNSWICK— This is a running account of testimony in the Justin Ross Harris hot car murder trial. Harris stands accused of intentionally leaving his 22-month-old son Cooper in a hot car to die on June 18, 2014. Court will resume today with the fourth day of testimony by the lead detective in the case, Phil Stoddard of the Cobb County Police Department.

Maddox Kilgore will resume his cross-examination of Stoddard after four hours of cross yesterday.

9:35 a.m.

Kilgore finishes his cross-examination with a "thank you" to Stoddard, and lead prosecutor Chuck Boring rises for re-direct.

9:30 a.m.

Kilgore notes that Leanna Harris's computer, seized by police, contained thousands of family pictures, including hundreds of Cooper. He asks Stoddard whether police returned the computer to Leanna in time for Cooper's funeral.

Stoddard then says, in response to a question, that on the day Cooper died, Leanna did not show any emotion and did not ask to see her son. He says she was detained at police headquarters and acknowledges that her belongings were searched.

Kilgore: "So after you went through her stuff, you the opportunity to observe her demeanor, and your report indicated that her demeanor was calm and collected. And there's no report that you made that she was crying or had tears."
Stoddard: "That's correct."

Kilgore: "Is that why she was suspect?"

Stoddard acknowledges that was the case.

Kilgore: "She wasn't reacting the way you thought she should be reacting?"

Stoddard: "That's a very small part of the whole picture. You have to have all the pieces to know why she was considered a suspect."

9:18 a.m.

The judge orders the jury brought in. Ross Harris stands, wearing a dark jacket, white shirt and a blue tie.

Maddox Kilgore, lead defense attorney, resumes his cross-examination of Stoddard. He asks for a date or time when Leanna Harris was ruled out as a suspect in Cooper's death. Stoddard says she is still listed as a suspect on the police report but that she is not part of an active investigation and has been ruled out as a suspect.

"We did not find any evidence to rise to the level of probable cause" to accuse Leanna Harris.

9:14 a.m.

Judge Mary Staley Clark says the parties and the jury will meet at 8 a.m. tomorrow to view the SUV. She's talking about how the media's camera will be positioned and her prohibition that the camera not capture any member of the jury. She then directs the parties to work out the details during the court's lunch break.

Just an observation.... I LOVE this judge!

Judge Mary Staley is doing a stellar job. She stays on time. She keeps control of the attorneys. She makes decisions and court orders on the spot (unlike Judge Stephens who would have to think about things for weeks at a time). She calls the next witness even before the prior witness has exited the box!!

A jury weighing murder charges against a Georgia man whose toddler son died in a hot car has adjourned for a long weekend.

Jurors in the trial of Justin Ross Harris ended their third day of deliberations Thursday without reaching a verdict. Harris is charged with murder in the June 2014 death of his 22-month-old son, Cooper, who died after being left for hours in the back seat of his father's SUV.

Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark ordered the jury to resume its deliberations Monday morning. The courthouse will be closed Friday for Veterans Day.

Prosecutors say Harris, who moved to Georgia from Alabama in 2012, intentionally killed his son. Defense attorneys say Harris loved his son and that the death was a tragic accident.

After 21 hours of deliberation over four days, the jury said that they found Harris guilty on all eight counts which had been set against him, in their first vote.

Guilty, good! I would have been convinced by the evidence.

Justin Ross Harris’ ex-wife issued a blistering response to a Glynn County jury’s decision to convict the Marietta web developer of purposely killing their only child by leaving him in a hot car to die.

“For those of you who want to know if I am ok. The answer is no,” said Leanna Taylor, who divorced Harris earlier this year. “I have not been ‘ok’ since the moment I was told my son was dead. I have not been ‘ok’ since the moment my life was put on this path that has led to Ross being found guilty of maliciously murdering our child.”

In her Facebook post, Taylor said justice was not served.

“But guess what, you can convict every parent that this has ever happened to, and I can promise you 2 things,” she wrote. “#1 it will never bring our children back and #2 it will not prevent this from happening in the future. Next summer, as this begins to happen over and over again, ask yourself, ‘what can be done?!’”

“The problem is not the parent!” she continued. “The problem is a society that refuses to believe this can happen to them! Wake up! Accept it! And by accepting it you will be protecting your child!”

Taylor, who, according to the lead investigator in her husband’s case is not a suspect in her son’s death “at this time,” said she did not care what the public thought about her. Due to her placid demeanor after she learned of Cooper’s fate, police initially believed she may have been complicit in the murder.

But she was never charged, and investigators have never offered any evidence that might implicate her, let alone a reasonable motive.

“I don’t care what your opinion is in my situation. I don’t care what your opinion is of me!” she wrote. “It does not matter! Your opinion will never bring back my son. So called ‘justice’ will never bring back my son. Nothing will ever take that pain away. “

She concluded her message by urging parents to be vigilant.

“Be the wise parent, and accept that this can happen,” she said. “And you will never have to walk the path that my family has had to walk. And I pray YOU never have to walk this path.”

This is the justice Cooper deserves. I'm really impressed with this jury in agreeing early on and yet taking the time to go over the evidence to make sure that the verdict was the right verdict. They could have come out with their verdict Thursday 11/10/16 and been done and over with the trial before the long weekend but because of the integrity they carry they did the right thing. My hats off to the jury.

A judge has sentenced suburban Atlanta father Justin Ross Harris to life in prison without parole for the murder of his 22-month-old son, Cooper, who died in 2014 after Harris left him in a hot car for seven hours while he went to work.

Harris also received another 32 years, to be served consecutively, for convictions on four other counts

The defense did not present any mitigating factors, and no one spoke on behalf of Ross.  The state spoke on behalf of Cooper requesting the maximum sentence.

The Judge was soft spoken but firm in her barely covered disgust when she said something to the effect that "you said you wanted to be an advocate and, not in the way you intended, but you've done that.

Yes! A judge and a jury that got it right. Sadly, it doesn't help little Cooper.

No! With eight guilty verdicts I was hoping for a death penalty.

This was premeditated murder. On a helpless child. Who trusted his father. Who tried desperately to get out of the car seat. A child who frantically clawed his own face in despair. While his daddy was busy trying to get his next sexual thrill...or was jacking off.

^^^ Buzz-cut or not, J. Ross Harris is one ugly, evil, human on the inside. Doesn't much matter what he looks like on the outside, IMO. Life in prison can never equal the pain and duress poor little Cooper suffered at the hands of the person he should have always been able to count on to love him and keep him safe. I guess Ross Harris got his "escape".
