Wowza....I was able to steal a few minutes to look in on trial and the state re-called gf Heather Hutchins. She had testified on Monday that she took JG to the ER on Friday night due to confusion/nausea/etc (...trying to establish concussion, imo) and the state busted her by revealing it was Sunday night that she took him. The hospital report says he complained about chest pains and nothing about confusion, head trauma, nausea, etc. State pretty much grilled her more about why she never told about his condition ("concussion") prior to Monday....and pretty much busted her!

She was getting tense and angry, but kept her cool. She commented that "I was there to take care of John", and I'm pretty sure the State retort of "Is that what you were doing on Monday". ZING. Objection! Sustained, but still a zing!

Whew. That 10 minutes with gf today is worth a look.

A juror serving on the retrial of Wellington polo magnate John Goodman could be booted off the panel, after new questions surfaced Tuesday about the man's eligibility to serve because of a long-ago criminal conviction in New York.

...The fireworks Tuesday concerned whether juror number 3 is eligible to serve on the jury because of an issue involving an old arrest in New York State. During jury selection, the Navy veteran who now makes parts for ATM machines said his civil rights were fully restored, but that's not what prosecutor Sherri Collins just learned.

..."I'm not inclined to remove him yet," Colbath said. "He may be eligible and we just don't have the paperwork … I'd like him to serve."

There was a situation in court today for which I cannot find an article, but I didn't want it to slip through the cracks. I could hardly hear what was going on, so I missed her name, and other info. What I got was that a woman I did not recognize was in front of the judge with her attorney (the jury was not present), and she wanted to plead the 5th when testifying, so they were discussing some sort of immunity for her. If she takes the stand and tells the truth, nothing she says can be used against her. However, if she lies, she can be charged with perjury.

The mystery was who this woman is. According to other blogs, the woman is one of the bartenders, who may be testifying tomorrow. So, I guess we'll find out for sure then. That makes sense, because if she served Goodman and others that were noticeably intoxicated, she could have otherwise gotten into trouble.

Apparently, because she was given whatever kind of immunity it was, she told the judge that she will not plead the 5th after all.

ETA: Today's first witness (I believe she said Kathleen Luder or something like that) is the woman involved. She was, in fact, a bartender at the Players' Club.

The state spent much of the morning comparing Lewter's current testimony with what she said in an earlier deposition....."

Ah, thanks! The defense wanting the case dismissed because they can't test the car makes a lot more sense now. But I think the previous team had their opportunity to do whatever testing they wanted. Seems like they missed the boat on that one.

Thanks everyone for the links and videos!

I have found the Sun Sentinel site to be the best....commentary is following testimony pretty closely and even if you just read later, it will give you a close idea of what transpired in court.

Snelgrove is very impressive this morning. He is the chief investigator. The state has learned a lot from trial #1 and seems to be really tightening up the timeline and reconstruction to leave JG very little wiggle room, if any.

We were talking in Chat today about the stop sign near the intersection. According to the video I watched tonight of this morning's testimony that I missed earlier, the stop sign was 53 feet away. The investigator said there is no way the Bentley could have stopped at that stop sign and had enough time to get the vehicle up to 63 mph before impact.

As the Defense for John Goodman presents their case beginning Monday, 10/20/14, I think it is important that we remember the true victim in this case: Scott Wilson!

I have no sympathy whatsoever for John Goodman who is charged with DUI manslaughter, failure to render aid and vehicular homicide.
Just because Goodman is very wealthy does not mean he is above the law (although he thinks he is).

I do hope this jury, like the first jury, finds John Goodman guilty as charged. Because of Goodman's actions and his choices which involved alcohol, Scott Wilson is dead!

John Goodman needs to serve time in prison and think about Scott Wilson everyday. Scott Wilson will never have any more opportunities in life because of Goodman. Who knows what kind of greatness Scott Wilson could have achieved in his lifetime. Scott Wilson, a recent college graduate, had his entire future ahead of him until John Goodman took it all away.

Although Goodman is very wealthy, he needs to take responsibility for his drunk driving and the death of Scott Wilson. What a horrific way to die .. . .. drown in a canal loaded with fertilizer runoff, chemicals, etc. Per the Medical Examiner's testimony, it may have taken Scott Wilson 5 minutes to die.

What a horrific way to die .. . a slow drowning death and obviously knowing that one is dying!

The above is just my opinion!

I am trying to find the Sentencing Video from 2012 (Judge Colbath sentencing John Goodman to 16 years).

I guess I've "lost my touch" or perhaps I am too tired .. . can't find it.

If you or anyone else can find it, please post it here.

I watched that sentencing "live" and Judge Colbath was not impressed with Goodman! It was apparent that Judge Colbath, nor the jury, did not believe Goodman when he testified.

I will post a video of the news clip regarding the sentencing in 2012.

This video is from 2012 when Judge Colbath sentenced John Goodman to 16 years in prison.

He could have got 30 years. The State of Florida asked that Goodman be sentenced to 20 years.

Judge Colbath sentenced Goodman to 16 years.
