The legal team led by West Palm Beach lawyer Doug Duncan and former Palm Beach County prosecutor Elizabeth Parker expect it will be denied by Judge Jeffrey Colbath. But it will clear the way for an appeal for the local court of appeals.

...The first point expected in the motion is that Parker didn’t get to present evidence and expert witnesses about the collection of Goodman’s blood after the crash.

...Second, the defense attorneys will be arguing they didn’t get to inspect the wreckage of Goodman’s Bentley because it was released for scrap after the first verdict.

You know, I thought about that yesterday when I was typing my post. I really have to wonder if this guy is from old money (the family business in Texas) and accidently fell into the polo world and made new money cuz he had peons doing his dirty work and therefore he has no clue of the word NO. He spends money like it grows on trees and has never had to account for every penny he spent like normal people. And I have to ask...Who adopts a girlfriend??? Really! Who does that? I had read but not confirmed... he had a new gf? If so, what about the trust he left in the hands of the old gf?I had heard he DID adopt her but a friend told me it was tossed out...higher court denied the adoption as it was to only protect his assets... WEST PALM BEACH — After spending millions on two trials and more than $750,000 on at-home detention, Wellington polo mogul John Goodman is running out of money, a source close to the Texas trust-funder tells Gossip Extra exclusively.

...Word in the local legal community is that last month’s re-trial cost about $1 million in legal bills, mostly for his four lawyers and expert witnesses.

Believe it or not, that’s a bargain compared to his first trial in 2012, when Miami attorney Roy Black charged him $1,500 AN HOUR! At that rate, Goodman is believed to have paid Black more than $4 million just for the trial.

...Thing is, the money hasn’t been coming from Goodman himself!

...Locally, Goodman’s mansion on 120th Avenue South in Wellington is owned by a company named after his old polo team, Isla Carroll Farms, and controlled by his family in Houston, according to Florida state records.

I would imagine JG has nicely "protected" his finances in a variety of ways, including the trust. While I doubt if he is even close to being out of funds, he would be wise to stop the games and own up to his own actions. Tossing around money, hand picking others to represent him no matter the cost just rubs it in the face of the victim, Scott Wilson. So he has money??? Does he really think that buys an excuse for NOT being credible for his own actions? Own up, JG! The jury has spoken, but John Goodman's attorneys are still fighting.

With the Oct. 28 guilty verdict and defeat still raw, the Wellington polo executive's defense team on Wednesday filed a request for a new trial — Round Three, if granted — citing a litany of alleged errors by Palm Beach County Chief Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath before and during the 15-day trial.

The reasons include numerous pre-trial decisions, such as Colbath's refusals to toss blood evidence from the trial, and to dismiss the charges altogether because of the state's release of Goodman's Bentley from evidence in 2012.

...In Wednesday's pleading for a new trial, the attorneys accused Colbath of prejudicing Goodman by denying 18 pretrial defense motions. Among them:

•A motion to exclude blood evidence from the trial.

...The attorneys said they will ask Colbath to free Goodman, 51, from Palm Beach County Jail pending his appeal. A cash bond would let him return to his Wellington estate on house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor, along with other restrictions. Goodman's brother and sister previously posted a $7 million cash bond while he appealed the first trial verdict.

For $500,000, a Vermont felon promised to sway the jury serving on John Goodman's DUI manslaughter retrial in his favor, authorities say.

In a series of text messages to a defense witness and Goodman pal, James Perron said a relative of his could influence the jurors, the FBI said.

He said he could guarantee at least a hung jury, but if his actions resulted in an acquittal, he would need $1 million from Goodman, the wealthy heir to a heating and air conditioning business.

...Perron is a Vermont handyman and felon who served more than 10 years in prison after allegedly choking a woman, according to a report published earlier this year by the Daily Scarsdale (N.Y.) Voice news website.

In 1989, Perron had pleaded guilty to charges of rape and attempted murder in the woman's attack at a bar. But his conviction was overturned, and in 2002 he made a deal agreeing to plead guilty to attempted second-degree murder and became immediately eligible for parole.

In May of this year, Perron was in trouble again, accused of stealing more than $50,000 from an elderly couple in Scarsdale, according to the Scarsdale Voice report. That case was still pending when he began texting Kampsen.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The sentencing hearing for John Goodman has been delayed until Friday.

...Wednesday the judge heard arguments on whether Goodman should be sentenced for both DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide and whether he must pay the $100,000 taxpayers funded for his retrial.

The defense thinks he should get credit for time served - 152 days behind bars plus 810 days house arrest.

The prosecution says house arrest is not the same as wearing a jumpsuit.

...The judge did not state what time Friday sentencing will take place.
