June Steenkamp might have vocalised her forgiveness for Oscar Pistorius – the boyfriend of their late daughter Reeva, who he shot and killed on Valentine’s Day 2013.

But the model’s father, Barry Steenkamp, has said he can only begin to come to terms with their tragic loss once he’s had the opportunity to question the athlete himself, face to face.

...“It will,” June added. “He did ask to speak to us but we weren’t ready. Quite a while ago. You don’t actually want to talk to someone that has done that to your child.”

Henke Pistorius: “Oscar has more fighting spirit than anyone I know”

The Blade Runner’s dad has opened up for the first time about his sons’ childhood challenges, the lengthy court case and the tragedy facing two families.

For the past 18 months Henke’s absence from court proceedings led to a lot of speculation from people, but he’s set the record straight about this and many other rumours during a lengthy interview with You magazine.

Henke explained to the mag that the past 18 months have been almost unbearable at times. “It’s every parent’s nightmare. You never think so much drama would ever happen to your child. You live your life and then, suddenly, your life is on the front pages of newspapers and all over TV,” he explained.

The mother of slain model Reeva Steenkamp has said she wished Oscar Pistorius was found guilty of her daughter’s murder.

The star sprinter shot Ms Steenkamp four times through a locked toilet door Valentine’s Day morning 2013 and was found guilty of cuplable homicide at the conclusion of his six month trial.

However June Steenkamp, Reeva’s mother, has said she was “very dissapointed, deeply sad and extremely angry” with the verdict.

“In my opinion it means that Oscar’s not going to pay properly for killing our lovely daughter,” she said.

"We are not sure of the allegations which are to be made or the source of such allegations, but we are not aware of any deletions having been affected by Oscar or effected on his instructions that could be relevant to this trial or could have impacted on this trial," they said.

He might have desired to share, Reeva got upset and tossed/ruined the device, stormed off to the bathroom while telling him, "You could ruin your career!"
He started yelling, as it was reported by neighbors, and she fled to the bathroom.
He realized she COULD destroy his image IF she mentioned his porn to anyone;
he decided then to eliminate the evidence: kill Reeva.

I wish the prosecution had focused on the porn which I understand is against the law in SA.

Calling the old gf: This could have caused an argument as it was eve of Valentine's Day and Reeva had made plans to spend the night with OP...Since they had been dating only a few months, IMO, I don't think their intimacy had involved sex yet.

".... have uncovered cell phone data alleging the 27-year-old Paralympian had secretly chatted with 25-year-old Jenna Edkins for nine minutes on the night Steenkamp was shot. Apparently, Edkins was saved in Pistorius's phone book as "Babyshoes."

Why did this woman not come forward to at least give a statement to the PD?
This angers me!
She was willing to keep her silence and thereby endorsed OP's actions.

OSCAR PISTORIUS was on the phone to his ex-girlfriend hours before he shot and killed Reeva Steenkamp in the early hours of Valentine’s Day, while his brother Carl may have deleted data from his phone before it was given to police, according to a new book.

The athlete had a nine-minute conversation with Jenna Edkins as he drove up to his compound in the outskirts of Pretoria last year.

He started dating Miss Edkins in 2008 and described her in his autobiography as “a beautiful girl with blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes”.

He had saved her number in his phone under “Babyshoes”, according to a book about his trial by two South African journalists, but police failed to make the connection because the line was registered to Miss Edkins’s father

She was never questioned, but often spoke out in the athlete’s defence after his arrest. The double amputee was convicted of culpable homicide last month for killing Miss Steenkamp by firing four hollow-tipped bullets through a locked bathroom door, but he was cleared of the more serious charge of premeditated murder, because Judge Thokozile Masipa said the state had not proved his intention to kill.

POLICE suspected the brother of Oscar Pistorius of wiping data from the Olympian’s phone in the days after he killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, a South African radio station claims.

Investigators believed Carl Pistorius synchronised his computer with his brother’s iPhone, wiping out the entire call history and all WhatsApp messages, according to an investigation by Eyewitness News (EWN).

Police “considered charging him with defeating the ends of justice but ultimately declined to proceed with a case against him”, EWN said.

Paralympian Oscar Pistorius’s brother, Carl, allegedly tampered with the athlete’s cellphone in the days after Pistorius’s girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, was shot and killed, reported Eyewitness News on Thursday.

According to the report, the information was revealed in a new book entitled ‘Behind the Door’, co-authored by EWN reporters Barry Bateman and Mandy Wiener.

An investigation into Pistorius’s personal cellphone revealed his entire call history, Whatsapp messages, and several text messages had been deleted after the shooting occurred. It is understood the phone in question was only handed to police 12 days after the incident took place.

Investigators compared the service provider data of both Pistorius and his brother during that period of time. They found it was likely Carl removed the cellphone from the crime scene.
It was established the cellphone had been synced with a computer identified as ‘Titanium Hulk’.

According to EWN, Carl often uses this name to refer to himself on social media. His email address also contains the word ‘Hulk’.

The team prosecuting Oscar Pistorius believed it had a case against the athlete’s brother Carl for defeating the ends of justice – but agreed not to if the defence accepted the chain of evidence related to Oscar’s cellphones, including a handset removed from the crime scene.

Two separate sources close to both the prosecution and defence have confirmed that Carl Pistorius had his brother’s iPhone for at least 24 hours after the athlete shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp dead in February 2013.

Introduction

There is something deeply disturbing about many of the attempts that have been made to justify Judge Masipa’s judgment in the Pistorius case. They seem to take the line that her conclusion of culpable homicide was conceivable on the law as it stands, and therefore, although her reasons were questionable, her conclusion was correct. It’s the argument that the end justifies the means. This type of justification is as problematic in law as it is in most other areas of life.

In law it is a licence to introduce uncertainty in our law, or worse, distort or destroy the proper functioning of the principles. Perhaps even worse than that, it seems to reconcile with the notion that the principles don’t matter, as long as the right conclusion was reached. This is the worst possible implication because it reconciles with a lawless society. We must not accept this. It is not even the thin edge of the wedge – it is the wedge, the whole of the wedge.

Another common theme can be observed – related to the point made above. It’s the notion that there was nothing wrong with Masipa’s reasons because they are in line with a defence raised even if she did not actually apply the defence or principles underlying the defence. This is all very well, except that if the Judge did not actually rely on that defence or the principles underlying the defence, we cannot pretend that she did. This is law by wishful thinking. I’m not sure it’s as bad as lawlessness. But if lawlessness was bad, this is madness.

Below is a small excerpt from a recent Judge Greenland interview. If Judge Masipa decides to give a noncustodial sentence and the prosecution subsequently appeals and wins, does this mean that Mr. Pistorius would be guilty of murder but would still only serve a noncustodial sentence? It doesn’t seem right.

If they make that decision and his judgment is switched, do they go to sentencing again?

The Court of Appeal will not be charged with his sentence. The court will correct the verdict in my respectful view and that’s it. It cannot interfere with the sentence. It can only interfere with the sentence if OP appealed his sentence and the State cross-appealed for an increase in the sentence. So let us say that the unlikely event plays out that the judge imposes a meaningful custodial sentence here, OP will be on the horns of quite a bad dilemma because if he appeals his sentence, that opens the door for the State to cross-appeal to have his sentence increased to match the then corrected verdict of murder on the basis of dolus eventualis....."

JOHANNESBURG (AP) -- What kind of sentence will Oscar Pistorius get for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp?

South African judge Thokozile Masipa has wide latitude in deciding the sentence after several days of legal arguments and testimony that begin Monday. Last month she convicted the double-amputee runner of culpable homicide, or negligent killing. Sentences for such a crime can range from a suspended sentence and a fine to as many as 15 years in prison.

OP sure knows how to con the world with his tears, his touchy feely crap. This Dr. deals with trauma. She saw OP back in Feb. 2014. Stated she sometimes was able only to hold him as he cried. Dr. stated to OP dr. would NOT act as a witness in the trial. Things changed!!! Yeah. Well, if HE felt that badly and had only known Reeva a few months when OP murdered Reeva, then think of her MOTHER and her FATHER and her sibs! Now pay up!!!

Dr. stated OP paced up and down, retched repeatedly (getting practice and observing reaction).... this is so incredibly sick. Dr. is talking of how he was "saddened" because he could not attend her memorial.... OP is a player. He is good! Will the judge buy in? Dr. is stating he was in a "spiral" of grief. OP felt he lost the friends he and Reeva shared; he has lost his vision: he lost credibility in the sports world; felt he had worked hard and lost it all. Must have been the victim's fault, eh OP? Feels he has to avoid certain places until healing takes places as it is too stressful. Felt upset when Reeva's family would not at first meet with him (No duh! Imagine how they felt!!)

Doctor has bought in totally. She will confirm his deep remorse and his PTSD.

OP is already talking of running in 2015!!!

Nel is asking if dr. knew OP had resumed training.
Dr. is stuttering. Says she knew he went to the track once because it was in the media. He did not tell this with her.OP had told her he had no future as an athletic. She turned in the report lately. It was completed back in Feb.

Dr. is stating OP has lost all interest in much of life; love interest, friends, career. She does not believe he will ever be able to work again. Apparently, she is NOT aware of his interest in returning to running!!!

Nel asks IF he has lost his love interest does this mean he will never love again?

Dr. consulted with OP from Feb 2013 to Oct 2014. That is right.... until recently! s she not aware of the media reports of OP going back to training, preparing for returning to the track, etc.? How about the new gf he has had for some time?

Nel: I'm having a surprise that a professional person giving testimony on sentence did not read the full judgment. Is that irresponsible?

I may be wrong but it appears OP and his brother Carl, who is seated a short distance away, are busy texting to each other! Both have cell phones out, fingers busy, heads bent down. I wonder if they are sending signals to each other as to when to retch, ask to leave the court, etc... ????
