Jodi Arias trial update: Arias wants appeal process started, private investigator Dorian Bond says

PHOENIX - Convicted killer Jodi Arias is not wasting any time getting her appeal going.

Arias hired private investigator Dorian Bond with Bond Investigations to start the process of overturning her 2013 first-degree murder conviction.

The first jury was hung on whether to give her the death penalty or a prison sentence.  A second jury is now listening to evidence as it weighs the heavy decision.

"She is ready for this part to be over and so she is ready to move forward to the appeal process...the appeal process takes a long time. So we're just getting a jump on it," Bond says.

Legally Speaking: Drama, drama, drama in Jodi Arias case

There are three dramas going on right now in the State v. Jodi Arias case.

The main drama is being played out in front of the jury, one is being played out at the Court of Appeals and the most recent one is being played out in front of Judge Sherry Stephens. While out of the sight and hearing of the jury, the most recent one has the potential of being the most significant.

Regarding the main drama, Monday the jury returns to the fifth floor of the Maricopa County Superior Court to hear Juan Martinez, the prosecutor, continue his cross examination of defense expert Dr. L.C. Miccio-Fonseca. Many, if not all, are wondering if he will reduce this expert to a babbling, emotional mess like he did with defense experts Alyce LaViolette and Dr. Richard Samuels in the first trial. Last week when cross examination started, Dr. Fonseca held her own, her voice was steady and her explanations were straight forward. However, the same can be said for the first days of cross of the previous experts.

I am so disappointed. I wanted to hear this but when I went to the site last night I saw nothing about it. It looked as if you had to sign in and pay, or register and pay, which I could not do.

I did not get to hear any radio show with Chris Hughes last night, but here is one that he did just last month with Trish of Websleuths. He talks about Travis and the book he and his wife have written about him, due out after the verdict in this trial.
I really think they knew Travis better than anyone. I really like them. I think its a shame if Chris can't testify in the penalty phase. He lays out so clearly and succinctly exactly how they started out liking Jodi, BUT how very soon "red flags" cropped up consistently, and exactly what they were, and how they tried to convey instances of Jodi's creepiness to Travis. He talks about how Jodi threatened suicide if Travis dumped her, and how Travis told them he couldn't "live with himself" if she did that. They tried to tell him that it was NOT his responsibility, and that this was another Jodi manipulation tactic.
I think Chris' story is the most clear view of who Travis really is and Jodi's complete and growing obsession with him. I think if the jury could hear him in person, they would get a real understanding of EXACTLY WHAT REALLY TRULY HAPPENED.

The judge wants to see attorneys before they start court. Nurmi has a problem with the photos that are being taken of Jodi. He's blubbering about a bunch of nonsense. The judge denied the motion. Let's move on.

The judge wants the jury to write down their concerns and put it in the box since this trial will probably go into Jan.

The sexpert if still up.
Juan starts off and wants to know if she viewed photos on the internet regarding this case? Yes.
Juan wants to see all the stuff she looked at on the internet- Nurmi objects- and the sexpert says "If you wanted to see them, you should go look for yourself"
The sexpert refuses to answer with a yes or no. She starts to complain to the judge.
Juan asks her if she has memory problems. She won't answer. They continue to battle back and forth with words. He even brings up previous research she's done, plus mentions an assessment tool she made and she refuses to answer yes or no. The sexpert tells Juan to "stand back a little" and Jodi is smiling at this point.

Juan brings up the photoshoot text (the one where Travis wants to tie Jodi to a tree)Text was May 2nd, 9:13am and from Travis. 3 minutes later there's another one. 3 minutes later another one. Juan points out a piece of the text that says "muse" Juan asks if that means it's an email. IM between Travis and Jodi...Jodi says "You've been a fantastic outlet for my musings"
Sexpert says she doesn't know if this word "musing" suggests male or female.

Juan brings up how Jodi attended the memorial and met up with a guy named Nick. Jodi exchanged phone numbers with him.
