Parents of missing baby 'scraping for anything'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The parents of a missing 10-month-old Missouri girl have given police more than a dozen names as they try to think of potential suspects or people who paid especially close attention to the child, a relative said Thursday.

Investigators have no suspects and few solid leads despite an intensive search for Lisa Irwin, whose parents say was snatched from her crib sometime Monday night or early Tuesday. The search was expanded Thursday to a heavily wooded area, an industrial park and sewers.

"We're scraping for anything, anyone who was at the house, who looked at her strange. Anything," said Mike Lerette, a cousin of the baby's mother.

Her parents are trying to remember people who recently came into contact with Lisa or paid her extra attention, Lerette said.

"She means everything to our two boys," said Lisa's mother Deborah Bradley as she fought back tears. "Everybody loves her, she's really playful and very sweet. She'll go to almost anyone."

The parents of 10-month-old Lisa Irwin, missing since Monday, have stopped cooperating with authorities, according to police.

"The mother and father no longer want to talk to detectives," Kansas City, Mo., police Capt. Steve Young said. "From an investigative standpoint, we enjoyed their cooperation so far. [It] has been very beneficial to the case. But yeah, you can imagine it doesn't help the case" that the cooperation has ended.

Parents have clammed up. What happened to bring that on? Perhaps it is that LE is searching too close to their home and not looking far away for that sweet little babe.

"First and foremost, it's important for me to stress that we are continuing and will continue to track down leads as we get them -- whether we develop them or whether they come from the TIPS Hotline. But earlier, the mother and father decided to quit cooperating with the police. But our door is always open," police Capt. Steve Young announced.

Young said Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley decided early Thursday evening to stop talking with investigators.

"This evening we will be shutting down the command post. We believe we have done all we can regarding geographic searches and will continue tracking leads as we get them or develop additional information," police Officer Darin Snapp said in a news release.

On Veteran’s Day Lisa Irwin will be 1 year old, and hopefully home and safe with her parents. Right now, however, she has been missing for more than 48 hours with no leads on what happened to her or where she might be. Some time between the hours of 10:30 pm Monday and 4:00 a.m. Tuesday, Lisa vanished from her crib.

There was a temporary Amber Alert issued for Lisa, but due to the fact that the criteria for an Amber Alert could not be met (no identification of a perpetrator, vehicle, etc.) and the time that had passed since Lisa had first been discovered missing, the Amber Alert was cancelled Tuesday night.

The parents of missing 10-month-old Lisa Irwin appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Friday to dispute claims that they are no longer cooperating with police.

“It’s not true we stopped cooperating,” Lisa’s mother Deborah Bradley told “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts. “Since all this happened, we never stopped cooperating.”

Bradley also said she was accused by police of failing a polygraph test.

God forgive me if i am wrong, but i am getting a hinky feeling from Jeremy. I feel Debbie's pain and think she is genuine, but getting bad vibes from him. Dunno why.

The police can be total dicks by trying to wear you down if they think you know something, and they both look exhausted.

I still don't think this is a stranger who abducted this little girl. It hardly ever is.

kellikat, I have many friends and some family members that are in Law Enforcement from the Texas Rangers to Harris County LE (Houston, Tx - largest city in state of Tx), my county and many counties in between.

Also, I am an active member of COP and am certified in my county and a very strong supporter of LE.

I take offense to your comment which includes: "can be total dicks." I find that offensive and insulting to the many men and women of LE who put their uniforms and/or badges on everyday and risk their lives for us. Law enforcement are doing their job! Interrogation is a part of their job. Interrogation can go on for hours or days!

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. If that is the way you view Law Enforcement, it is your opinion. I respect your right to your opinion.

Well, i have personal experience too. Both my stepfather and both my brothers were/are cops. And they are dicks. I am not diminishing the stress they are under or the difficult jobs they do. Love 'em, but they still are dicks!

Hi from Houston! I follow missing childrens cases pretty obsessively, always have, even before I had a child and now even more so. One thing that has sprung up in my mind in regards to the Lisa Irwin case AND the Aliayah Lunsford case is that both of these children were sick, and that one possibility is that maybe the parents accidentally overdosed the children on psuedoephedrine and in a panic disposed of the childs body? I thought of this almost immediately in Aliayahs case, with the parents prior history with LE and with the mom being pregnant AND with a river being 100 yards from their house. All speculation of course.

That is a thought, but I don't know if I can believe that with Lisa's mom. Its not beyond possible, for sure.

The couple told the Associated Press that police have treated them like suspects and that Bradley in particular has been preparing for the possibility of charges being filed against her.

The mother said detectives told her: "'You did it. You did it. And we have nothing.'"

"The main problem I think that we're facing is that everybody (else) has an alibi," Irwin told the AP. "I was at work. I've been cleared. All these other people we were worried about ... the FBI said they've been cleared. The only one you can't clear is the mother that's at home when it happens 'cause there's nobody else there."

LE can make an innocent person say just about anything they want...They can make an innocent person appear guilty...They can lie about whatever they want with no circumstances, but God forbid if the person being questioned lies to them...Interrogation techniques include leading questions and a "yes" or "no" at the wrong time can be condemning..They can rapid fire questions too and get one absolutely confused when trying to remenber circumstances...I have known a few "not so nice" LE employees...both male and female...Sometimes they act abrupt and not exactly caring...They can make a person feel ill at ease even under the most innocent circumstances...Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for LE and realize that they are just doing what they get paid to do...Sometimes it is best to just "clam up"...

Hi, Annette. A huge warm welcome to Reality Chatter! I spent most of yesterday in Houston.

As the Lunsford case unfolded, I thought about a possible OD of medication. But when I start doing some digging and discovered Lena Lunsford's criminal background and the fact that she is a proven liar, she has lost credibility with me. Also, the stepfather, Ralph Lunsford, has a really bad criminal background.

I don't think Aliayah was overdosed but I do believe Lena knows exactly what happened to her.

In Lisa's case, as this is unfolding, things are hinky! Red flags are going up for me everywhere!

Later tonight I hope to be able to read up on what has transpired in Lisa's case today. Involved in other projects today.

FBI: Johnson County landfill search tied to Lisa Irwin case

SHAWNEE, Kan. - The FBI confirms the search of a Johnson County landfill was connected to the case of a 10-month-old missing Kansas City girl.

More than a dozen law enforcement officers searched the Deffenbaugh Industries Johnson County landfill in white protective suits.

An FBI spokeswoman confirmed what NBC Action News first reported, that the search is in connection to the case of Lisa Irwin, who was reported missing Tuesday morning.

Wonder why Ann didn't jump all over your case. I agree that police use heavy handed tactics in order to get answers. Sometimes they have to. But if God forbid you are innocent, and they interrogate you for 12 hours, you are liable to say anything just to get them to stop. just sayin....

From KMBC's Mike Mahoney: A relative of Jeremy Irwin and Deb Bradley, the parents of the missing Kansas City baby, say they are hoping a tip from California pays off. Mike Lerette told KMBC's Micheal Mahoney the FBI may be looking at some surveillance video shown a couple in California with a very young child. He would not elaborate.

From Mahoney: Also, the grandfather of Deb Bradley offered an explanation for the police statement on Thursday that the parents were no longer cooperating with police. A claim the family disputes.
David Netz, Sr says the couple objected to police questioning tactics.
"They would cone in and say, 'OK, Jeremy said this, and they'd go back to Jeremy and say Deb said this and this," Netz said.
"When you're tired and worried about your baby, you're bound to make itty bitty mistakes in time lines", Netz said.
"And they have been pouncing in every little, from what I understand, every little mistake that is made".

Julie, regarding the family cooperating, it reminds be of the Robert Manwill case and we all know how that turned out!

Also, the Hailey Dunn case and Hailey Cummings case comes to mind about "co-operating."

I think the reason there is a shadow of doubt hanging over them is because we are so accustomed to the parents being guilty in the disappearance of children. Even if they are totally innocent, we are conditioned to look at them as prime suspects, and with justifiable reason.

If they are innocent, I feel so badly for them. If they aren't innocent, i feel so badly toward them.
