I don't understand this new jury thing... how will a new jury decide?? what are they presented with? Is there a new mini-trial?... will this open it up to more appeals? Sorry I don't really understand! and I really hope that this jury can hang in there and agree to something! moo

IDK I imagine they would basically have to start over, because how else can the come up with a verdict, I don't Arizona Law, it's really different from where I am at, but I imagine you would have to start over...Someone correct me or add on please

They would only start the penalty phase over. They don't lose the conviction of 1st degree and they don't lose the guilty verdict on the aggravating factor of especially cruel.

If this happens and a NEW jury were called in and actually gave her death - it stands a VERY good chance of being over-turned by the Supreme Court of United States. The Arizona Supreme Court accepts this death penalty verdict by a second jury, but the Federal Supreme Court frowns on it.

Anyhow, my prediction - if we get a verdict - it WILL be death.

Death verdict - or hung jury. No way all 12 would agree to let her live in gen pop and play her coloring games. Ain't gonna happen.

I HOPE they do.

I wanted Travis' family to leave the court room when Nurmi got up for his closing arguments.

I doubt Jodi will take the stand. She doesn't want to mess up her appeals. She's smart, ya know. She's got this.

Allllllllllll under control.

justanopinion....I agree with your hubby and mother-in-law....I noticed her "No" head shakes also....thinking to myself ..How can you shake your head 'NO" if you were in a "FOG" and don't remember anything??!!! I think you have to take snap shots of the Ninja story and JM's version and marry the two....of course the ninja story could have been a scene from a MOVIE that she watched also...seems to be alot of that in her stories also...LOL

You have to wonder tho... since she didn't give her stories till a month after they buried him do you think the ME would of checked his spinal cord to see if it was severed in any place that would have caused paralysis in his legs like she said in the ninja story?

I wish that in addition to the Alexanders, Travis' friend Chris Hughes was giving an impact statement. I heard him for several hours on the Websleuth Radio Show, and he is an excellent speaker and just spot on in his observations. He also has some wonderful stories about Travis and knew him so well.

whew I made it!..caught a glimpse of announcement on HLN saying things could start early while at work and bout got in a tizzy til I recalled they NEVER start on time much less early.

I aint sure what to expect out of today but laughed like a loon upon hearing the dteam tried to escape at the 11th hour...just crazy..lol

I think she will speak again but it wont be to beg or ask for forgivness..I believe if she does it will just be so she can tell the jury exactly what she thinks of their verdict.

Yeah that doesn't sound good, last time this happened, court didn't resume til Wednesday, a week later, all caused by JA and her interview, suicide bull watch. The penalty phase has to start today! No more delays!

Bmore wrote:You have to wonder tho... since she didn't give her stories till a month after they buried him do you think the ME would of checked his spinal cord to see if it was severed in any place that would have caused paralysis in his legs like she said in the ninja story?

Short version: the knife wouldn't have had to "sever" his spinal cord for him to have cried that he 'couldn't feel his legs'...he could've been referring to the sensory feeling/tingling from (long story, so skip it for now at least) that would've been in combination with total disorientation from shock/blood loss/severe pain/trauma/huge amounts of adrenaline & cortisol flowin'...for such a statement to have been really uttered by Travis, it does NOT mean that he was LITERALLY paralyzed from the waist down.

I'm getting literally sick to my stomach (like every time I empathize/try to imagine what he felt)...just remember that he was speaking from what HE FELT, not what might be observed from a specimen of his spinal cord.

JMOO, but I've got ZERO doubt that he did in fact say this, that it did add to the cruel torture of his death. It is so difficult for any of us to consider such horror, but imo it's the least I can do- to go there. Those may well have been the last words he uttered. Chilling. It doesn't take Einstein to hear that equals "I cannot escape you"/pleading to HER! ARRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! HER!!!!!!!!!!!!! And is precisely why I unleash my fury on her for not showing him a molecule of mercy. Again, moo, but if this is what she 'remembers' and is likely the last thing he said, I (am shaking as I write this) consider her savage act of slicing clear through both his voicebox, airway, and major blood vessels to be her conscious, chosen response to those words. F her, imo. Psycho.

At this point, all I wanna hear is what Samantha & Steven have to say. I will savor every syllable and emotion they convey. I fully trust they will be the ones to bring their brother justice.

I'm all for redemption...but won't be holding my breath.
